All seems so simple now but I remember being completely overwhelmed by this game to the point I left it alone for months at a time until I finally got stuck in...then, it became my favourite game and still is to this day.
You literally just described my character arc with this game the last 6 months. It was so overwhelming at first. Fast forward 6 months I got like 10 mods and absolutely hooked.
@@andythedrummer9642 my recommendation is just focus on the combat/magic. Don't even worth about potions or alchemy or anything like that. It's just too much to take in straight away. Eventually once you're comfortable with the rest of the game you'll naturally start to get curious.
Just wanted to add to what you mentioned: - Every Sign has a use, and some aren't obvious. Axii (mind spell) can be cast on all horse to calm them. Wild and tamed (those used by bandits and soldiers) who have Axii cast on them can be ridden instead of Roach. The horse will stop trying to kick you too. Axii can be upgraded to cancel enemy attacks when cast, then stuns them. Yrden is very useful for dealing with shield bearing enemies. It will allow you to flank or rear strike easily. While Igni looks good, it has very short range, and some enemies will ignore getting hit by it, letting them get an easy hit on you. Aard is a much safer option with the upgraded range. If strong enough, Aard will 'stun' some human and humanoid enemies, allowing for an instant kill finisher - Don't take the bestiary as gospel. While it does tell you the obvious weaknesses, it doesn't cover tactics well. Take Foglets for example. Aard on the real Foglet will knock it out of stealth and take out it's copies. A tip the game may give you (the tips are a bit random) is that Axii can be cast on an Alghoul to force it retract it's spines. Experiment and try out different methods yourself - Each Witcher armor set has a story behind it. If you decide to hunt for a set, do it in full. They are worthwhile stories that shed light on the attitudes towards Witcher's - When you start the game in White Orchard, it is highly recommended that you find the diagrams for the Viper steel and silver swords. These are a pair of Level 2 swords that can easily last Geralt until Level 10, and can even take on up to Level 20 missions very early in the game. You'll need to talk to the Nilfguaardian Quatermaster at the northern outpost to craft them - One of the first upgrade you should invest in is the School of the Griffin or Cat found in the top right of the General abilities tab. It provides a decent boost to a stat very early into the game - Gold will be an constant issue early in the game. An easy source of gold are weapon runestone's. Keep things simple and hold onto the Attack and Sign improvement runes, then sell the rest. You'll make hundreds easily, and you will always find more out in the world. Also on the topic of runestone's and glyph's. They use the same upgrade system as Witcher sets and potions. You can buy diagrams from herbalists and blacksmiths that allow you to craft glyphs, and each of their improved versions - Swimming is an activity you'll engage in frequently. The hold-to-ascend/descend buttons are often non-responsive. It is easier to direct Geralt by moving the camera - This one maybe be subjective (or a heretical to some) but Witcher 3 can be a long game that will burn some players out. It happened to me the a few times in my early playthroughs. A solution I found was to not play Gwent, and focus on playing only the game - Lastly. This was a command I cannot recall the game highlighting. If a mission has multiple objectives, you can rotate between those objectives (on PS4 it is with the R3 button). This is helpful in the case of Witcher sets, as the 'search for diagrams' is selected by default, even though you know where other parts are at Edit: Had to make changes to my post after the next-gen update that dropped last week. Axii no longer works on flying enemies as it use to. Added 3 new points instead
Wow, great insights. I just purchased the game on sale, and before I start day one, I wanted to do a little research as I hate aimlessly wandering around getting killed or grinding all day. After several hours of gameplay, I felt like I had a somewhat ok understanding of how to play. After watching this, I feel like I'll be much better prepared for what this game has to offer. I completely bought this game on a whim; I knew absolutely nothing about the Witcher but I love RPGs so I bought it when it came out anyway. I’ve played the main story, both dlcs, and am still finding stuff to do. I had it uninstalled forever but just recently reinstalled it and am just exploring all the points of interest I have left
Thank you for this video, I just strated Witcher after not gaming for 20 years, last game I finished was Ape Escape on PS1, so as you can imagine, a pretty big jump in complexity, I was completely lost with all the menus and what they meant
I downloaded this again yesterday. I beat it a few years ago but i am burned out with souls games. Started dark souls3 and was like. F U dark souls 3! You are no fun and then I remembered the witcher 3 and the fun I had.
Who’s here after getting it with ps plus extra ? Played a little bit of this game on Xbox one s but the prologue was pretty overwhelming… now with the next gen upgrade on ps5 and all I’m digging it :)
@@bradleybreslin945you can if you have ps plus. Just press options on the game in the home screen on ur ps4. Then choose the upload saved data and upload it to the cloud storage. Then go to settings on ps5 and youll find the saved data there too. Then download the saved data.
One piece of advice I have with the witcher gear, the Enhanced Cat School Gear quest is bugged, and it will show as complete even when you haven't found all the pieces, so if you wanna find the whole set you need to use a guide to see all the locations, as the quest only shows you about half of them
Perfect timing for my first PC playthrough of this beauty. The first ever playthrough I didn't know my potions replenished, and just discarded them and remade them lol
I am ridiculously excited to (finally) play Witcher 3. I bought the game about a week ago and it's supposed to arrive tomorrow. All the more excited now because of this video!
@@z.s.n. sorry I didn't see this until today, i guess the tip would be depend on what you don't like about it. I was kind of overwhelmed by everything I think. I just remembered buying it, playing it for a couple days and not enjoying it and half year later I decided to just push my way thru and now it's one of my favorite games
Thanks for the help, just now starting Witcher 3 after years of putting it off and after the next gen upgrade, it’s a little overwhelming at first even for me coming from Skyrim but this helped
When I played the first time, I discovered a lot of things almost when I was about to finish the game so I had a difficult times sometimes, so for the New Game+ I really enjoyed and played more hours than the first times. This guide video it's very complete. 💙
Great game, not easy to begin with because you have to give it some patience. Worth starting in 2022 if you like depth and are able to appreciate the hard work of the developers. Thanks for the video.
Thanks, yes, I'm one of the 5 people who haven't played this game, lol. I played the first Witcher back in 2008 and loved it. Just purchased this one on Steam for $10, couldn't resist. Got about an hour in and am a bit overwhelmed. Videos like this are helping me a ton! So far, it's been very fun.
It's insane how many people I have seen leaving this game for a long time shortly after giving it a try on their first playthrough for whatever reason. In my case, back in 2019, I did not like the graphics and the combat. 4 years later, yesterday, I completely fell in love with it lol
This overwhelmed me back in 2015. After talking with a friend i dove back in and have loved it for years. Developed my own way of doing certain things but love seeing other players methods.
@DPRyan-vd5pp I love it. I'm on my 2nd playthrough now. My only, very minor, complaint is that I like to unlock everything on the map and that's such a pain on Skellege. If you don't care about that, then it's fantastic.
The first time I played this game, it scared me quite a bit. And just starting the tutorial, it is a game that challenges you with its enormous content. My favorite game...
What's funny is that I use decoctions until I reach 96% toxicity, but one of them replenishes health every time I spend stamina and another every time I cause damage so the loss of health is compensated for to the point I have a stamina/dps based swallow potion active at all times.
There is a health potion? Ive been healing by either meditating or eating food. I feel like an idiot because i never use potions and ive had thunderbolt equipped this whole time.
I’m currently using the Bear/Ursine Grandmaster Armor with Levity Enchantment, that turns heavy armor into light armor. It’s a great buff for a sword attack build.
I just started playing this game yesterday for the first time ever. I felt SO overwhelmed. I started by just doing contracts first and roaming around seeing what I can do to level up. Currently level 4 and still feel I haven’t even scratched the surface of this game. It’s crazy.
That's a good strategy, I always go village to village to city kinda just slowly follow the path and do what's in front of me, worked great for leveling
I haven't played the game in almost 7 years and with the new update for the current console generation, this video is very welcome to refresh my knowledge of the game.
I just bought the game a few minutes ago (it's not even done downloading yet), but I was told to check it out and love skyrim/fallout so I hope this becomes another favorite!
Watching this video because going to start this game for the first time (laugh it out). I started this game few years ago but like someone commented, got too over whelmed by it, and left it! Now all updated hoping to get into it slow and steady !
Very helpful video, thanks! Bought the GoTY edition for dirt cheap a while back and waited for the current gen upgrade. As others have mentioned it's quite overwhelming at the beginning with so many options and confusing elements but I'm slowly getting to grips with it. One question I have though; how on earth have you got nearly 20 MILLION crowns???
Tks man, i made a new pc in 2016 to play witcher 3; in the end i never played more than 3 hours. Now i upgraded to a new pc 7 years later and i installed this masterpiece; i went on and tought, why was i so crazy to not stick with it; this and elden ring are such an amazing piece of art games! Guess its cool to come to the party later than never afterall! Have fun everyone!
Just so that you know, I'm one of the Five people who still have never played Wild Hunt. I just started it a couple of days ago so this guide is really useful for me.
I'm trying to play this game right now and its been difficult for me hard to understand what to do in this game but its a great game just hope i get use to it i only defeated the griffin the whole game to me is overwhelming to me
That last but about Moonblade saved me. I'm about 3 days new to the game and accidentally dismantled my silver sword for crafting items and panicked. Thank you!
Only have 100 hrs in the game and still am overwhelmed. Lvl33 now and at apoint that i follow qst lines to get to lvl45 opponent. Now figuring out where to go...
This guy's voice sounds like he could legit be a character within the game! Lol. I dig it. Seriously one of the few areas where this game could use improvement is that it has excellent voice acting but geez louise it recycles the same voice actor for like every other NPC 😑 CDProjektRed oughta hit this guy up for voice work on Witcher 4 and Witcher 1 remake 😂 and of course thanks for all the helpful tips too! I've put in almost 350 hours into the game and I still feel like there's so much for me to learn and utilize. Especially since I take years between playthroughs. So anyway I really appreciate all the extra tips and advice! Kudos man 🙌
Sadly, I'm one of the 5 who hasn't played this. Tried it out, and it just wasn't for me. Years later, I tried it again(just a few days ago), and don't wanna put it down. Been watching all these types of videos that I can, lol
I just got this today On sale on PlayStation store for like $13 with the dlc included & I’m lookin forward to playin it I’ve heard from countless ppl this game is amazing
I just downloaded this game last night for 9.99 in the ps5 store….can’t wait to start it….still playing assassins creed odyssey, I’m 105 hours into odyssey!
I just started this week, after Bethesda exploded my 87th level Skyrim playthrough with their mods/CC merger. This was on my list, time for something fresh. This video is helping me adjust. :)
I have tried to start playing this game 2 times now. both times i got to the white orchard castle but now a couple of days ago I started it again, but this time it has changed, I am hooked.
I cant find myself to ever finish it. Its not the story but its the layers upon layers of in game mechanics that really sour the experience for me. I know its a traditional rpg, but it feels like cdpr are artificially increasing play time by including convoluted systems just because "its an rpg". Like if i wanted to do homework I'll just go back to college.
Just my opinion but I disagree about using full sets. 3 wolf (both swords) and 3 of the ursine are perfect imo. The 6/6 set bonuses for grandmaster on any of the sets are bleh to me. But both the 3 sets from those are perfect. Quen at no cost at least one, and using 3 oils at once.
I'm currently watching Season 2, and all I can think of is how awesome and fun the show is, how fond I am of the characters, and how much I want to replay the game! :D Top 5 best games for all time for me!
I started playing this game again just recently after I bought it for console and PC. Had over 200 hours or more in the past and play through it 3 times including expansions. Amazing how many things I missed still. This game was a masterpeace. Yes alot of people said the combat is weak and it is too easy but I never played any game with so much details in them including all the exclamation marks. I mean seriously, name me a game that has side missions on top of side mission with exclamation marks? It sucks that cdpr screwed it with Cyperpunk
Cyberpunk is in my top 20 list of favourite games, I never experienced a single bug. The only complaints I have is adding more interactive places in the city and more customization to cars and veichles (Which apparently they are adding).
I dont know if i should wait for the next gen upgrade or just start it already, never played it before but im dying to play it but in hate that its 30fps on ps5, my eyes cant take 30 fps anymore and the keep freaking pushing back the next gen upgrade
I was 20 when this game came out. never heard of the first two. the trailer amazed me. but I never got the game. months went by and I ended up playing it for maybe 3 hours on my cousins xbox. now I'm 29 and decided to get back into the game. I'm about 40 hours in. and kicking myself for never playing the whole game when it came out. but also it feels pretty cool for it to be 2024 and I get to expiriance this great game for the first tine
Just got this game, have to admit its the first Witcher game I have played (although I have read 3 of the books). There is a lot to get your head around initially in the game, but the more I play I the more I understand why everyone rates it so highly
I think you gave a bit of a wrong impression of the effect of decoctions, at least for new players. ''A wraith decoction will help you fight wraiths and so on.'' That doesn't mean a werewolf decoction will help you fight werewolfs. All decoctions have very varying effects that are mostly not related to their name. They're named after monsters because you need their mutagens to brew them.
I finally picked up this game after doing a whole soulsborne playthrough, and this game is insane! I did it on the maximum difficulty and the hp scaling is ridiculous. I fight basic mobs for ~3 minutes 😭 super nice combat though. I love the speed and unique interactions with signs. I’m about 20 hours in at lvl 5 and I feel super overwhelmed, but it’s a welcome experience. I’m excited to play more 😁
Im 65 hours in and about to start using feline gear. Was trying to search how to upgrade, but most vidoes is just abiut where to find the diagrams. The game de snt really explain that part well. I also found a vioer witcher gear but i believe i sold because max power was low and i didnt know about uograding and vetter keeping them. I read one of the best gear on s wolf. If you prefer fighting and sign power. I really like that combo. But i read that only starts about halfway in the game, only then can you find those diagrams. So perhaps ill start with feline gear. Just to get familiar with this stuff
With the person below me, make that only 3 people left to have not played it! Downloading as I type. Thanks for this video I’ll be rewatching as I get started
Ps at the bottom of the Witcher gear we see the bonuses, but those only seem to be valid when it's at full grandmaster state. What are those bonuses you talked about when wearing a full set?

Yrden is very useful for dealing with shield bearing enemies. It will allow you to flank or rear strike easily.
While Igni looks good, it has very short range, and some enemies will ignore getting hit by it, letting them get an easy hit on you. Aard is a much safer option with the upgraded range. If strong enough, Aard will 'stun' some human and humanoid enemies, allowing for an instant kill finisher
- Don't take the bestiary as gospel. Experiment and try out different methods yourself

- One of the first upgrade you should invest in is the School of the Griffin or Cat found in the top right of the General abilities tab. It provides a decent boost to a stat very early into the game
- Gold will be an constant issue early in the game. An easy source of gold are weapon runestone's. Keep things simple and hold onto the Attack and Sign improvement runes, then sell the rest. This is helpful in the case of Witcher sets, as the 'search for diagrams' is selected by default, even though you know where other parts are at

Thanks for watching! When it comes to money, this was added through console command being a test save for videos
@LastKnownMeal - Aah right! I'm on Xbox so no such options but may be for the best.
Cheers.
This play through I’m only wearing witcher armor or if there is just some really cool looking set that gives good stats as well.
I just started this game a couple days ago so this is a very useful guide for me
Glad it helped
This is one of the best tips video. Straight to the point and informative. Great job! I recommend.
I just started playing The Witcher today and i’m having a blast, this video has been very helpful :)
Thanks for watching!
Started playing this in 2016. It’s 2022 and im still doing That Baron Guy from the start. With the wife and daughter
Just so that you know, I'm one of the Five people who still have never played Wild Hunt. I just started it a couple of days ago so this guide is really useful for me.
Me too just started a couple days ago myself
About to play for the first time! Thank you
Thank you so much I was so overwhelmed at first but this helped me a lot
I'm trying to play this game right now and its been difficult for me hard to understand what to do in this game but its a great game just hope i get use to it i only defeated the griffin the whole game to me is overwhelming to me
Just started playing this game recently and really like it best game I have played
Enjoying this game alot, just bought it for my new ps5 n I'm loving it,stopped playin d4 to play this n havin more fun.
That last but about Moonblade saved me. I'm about 3 days new to the game and accidentally dismantled my silver sword for crafting items and panicked. Thank you!
I actually just started playing for the first time yesterday
You are doing yourself a favor!
I remember being a lil kid wanting to buy this, Now I just download it to my ps4 cause I have ps plus thanks for this video
i must say i am one of the 5 people he mentioned during the intro
I started playing last week so now its 4. Thank you!!!
Kudos man 🙌
I have this game like last February, but up until now, i play this game probably 8 hour total. And here i am to actually understand this game.
You should make Guides for each of the games you play, It would really come in handy for beginners
Sadly, I'm one of the 5 who hasn't played this. Tried it out, and it just wasn't for me. Years later, I tried it again(just a few days ago), and don't wanna put it down. Been watching all these types of videos that I can, lol
Just bought the game today, thanks for the video!
I've played this game 3/4 times now but I still love watching videos like this. Thank you for this, great video! 😁
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it
same here also with rdr2 i just wish i could erase this from memory and play it again
Just started my second play through. Beat it during covid lock downs. Loved it. Loving it all over again.
I'm going to play threw this game for the 1st when the next gen update is out this week , thanks for the great vid
I just got this today
On sale on PlayStation store for like $13 with the dlc included & I’m lookin forward to playin it
I’ve heard from countless ppl this game is amazing
Thanks dude. I can start playing now I don't think I'm going to look any further. Just the right amount of information lol
Just downloaded on PS5, will be my first time playing this. Thanks
I just downloaded this game last night for 9.99 in the ps5 store….can’t wait to start it….still playing assassins creed odyssey, I’m 105 hours into odyssey!
I'm new. This was very informative. Thank you. I liked and subscribed.
it’s me, one of five people yet to play this
I just started this week, after Bethesda exploded my 87th level Skyrim playthrough with their mods/CC merger. This was on my list, time for something fresh. This video is helping me adjust. :)
I'm like the fourth to last people to start playing 😂
I have tried to start playing this game 2 times now. both times i got to the white orchard castle but now a couple of days ago I started it again, but this time it has changed, I am hooked.
Same
The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt - the greatest video game ever created.
Me, who was over 500 hours in this game and still enjoys this video! :D
I’m playing The Witcher for the first time.. thank you
Thank you for watching!
That's okay, I prefer full sets but whatever gives you an edge in combat is alright if you ask me and should be used.
when the upgrade comes I will be playing this game for the first time I don't like collecting stuff
Man there's so much I've to learn and do, idk if i can handle it as i got so little time to play after work
The shame of me sincerely being here in 2024 😅
We all here kkk
I'm currently watching Season 2, and all I can think of is how awesome and fun the show is, how fond I am of the characters, and how much I want to replay the game! :D Top 5 best games for all time for me!
💀
The series is trash. Story and characters are too different from the books
Show sucks so hard , Netflix messes all these shows up. Look what they did with cowboy bebop…
I'm one of the five people who haven't played the game yet, however - downloading now and looking for some sweet mods :)
Bought this game on sale on switch. Currently in the third are of the game and Im having so much fun!!!!
Watch edgerunners and replay Cyberpunk
It’s 10.00 now in the Xbox stor the goty edition with the new free next gen update this is going be great !!
I left this game alone for years. Will try now again on the S
That's fair, didn't express myself well in English and created confusion. You are correct on that should have worded it better
@@LastKnownMeal no problem, just contributing to your great guide!
Thanks for the help, man
Thanks for watching!
I will play this for the first time when next gen update comes out
With the person below me, make that only 3 people left to have not played it! Downloading as I type. Thanks for this video I’ll be rewatching as I get started
Hey it's 4 people now.
Thanks for this I'm coming over from a 10 year Skyrim and Terraria binge.
Ps at the bottom of the Witcher gear we see the bonuses, but those only seem to be valid when it's at full grandmaster state. What are those bonuses you talked about when wearing a full set?
Thanks! Just got into the witcher 3. Got it for ps5. Its alot so your video helped out alot.
Thank you sir. Just started my second play through. Such a great game.
Ty for sharing because I got the complete collection for my switch and loving this game
