It feels like the esports bubble is finally popping. We've seen years of orgs taking losses under the assumption that eventually it'll pay off. Esports will take off but not nearly as quick as anyone expected. It'll be another couple of decades if anything.
My question would be, are the current sponsors of those french teams not mad that they are not getting exposure in the Shift league? As what do sponsors want? It's eyeballs on their logos and the Shift league provides a lot more of them than scrims. So the french orgs are making all their current sponsors, team organisers and fans (and their players as I understand that they wanted to play) mad at the same time, because they have not figured out their financials. I dunno, seems like a shortsighted strategy.
From a French RL fan perspective, i think that right now the power of viewership and engagement lies in the hands of the teams rather than in the hands of the Shift tournament organization. When KC and M8 attract 200k viewers during their matches, their sponsors are already satisfied. It seems that in today's power dynamics, it is up to the organization to present compelling arguments for these teams to commit to a tournament like this. The fact that they're asking for money is not really surprising either, i guess this is just business.

I'm in the minority, but if they had their hopes pinned on revenue from team decals, then they should have pushed the players to equp and market them, or have them featured during RLCS using a mod they way they did with the ball.

The esport decals are like everything else in rocket league, bland and unoriginal. why would i send money on a colored camo decal with an org logo on it? Especially when i have legacy decals from when the orgs designed their decals? like original C9 and NRG decals are sick but now it just screams low effort money grab.

If teachers would walk around with a sponsored T-shirt in front of class they would also get paid a small amount. (If sponsors actually would do this) The bigger the advertise audience, the bigger the amount money. That's just how the world runs

The billionaire team owners dodge taxes and the people buy those expensive tickets argue for less taxes and less pay those teachers. Saying why don’t teachers get paid for people buying sports tickets makes no sense.
