the sheriff.
JURY CHOSEN IN ONE DAY. 20 jurors have been selected in WI v. Kyle Rittenhouse. 9 men and 11 women. (8 are alternates)
Rittenhouse shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum, 26, and Anthony Huber, 26, and injured Gaige Grosskreutz, 27. Prosecutors say that Rittenhouse, then 17 and from Illinois, was a vigilante looking for a fight. He, like other right-wingers, went to Kenosha, Wisconsin ostensibly to protect property. This happened as protests over police shooting local man Jacob Blake turned violent. Rittenhouse’s attorneys assert he was acting in self-defense. This case became a cause célèbre among conservatives.
Prosecutors have struggled in court, failing to introduce evidence of prior aggressive behavior. This included evidence showing him attacking a woman who was in an altercation with his sister. The other is that he was closely linked to the violent, far-right Proud Boys organization.
Kenosha County Judge Bruce Schroeder said an appellate court would reverse him if he allowed these in trial. The evidence was too prejudicial, he said. He left it up in the air whether he would allow footage showing someone identified as Rittenhouse discussing a Black man exiting a CVS pharmacy. Rittenhouse believed the man was shoplifting.

Funny how the judge chastised him for saying “a-hole” but others on the stand went way further than that with their language.
It was because they were Lakowski's own words to describe a certain section of the crowd, not repeating words that he had heard others say, there is a big difference between using swear words from a third party then there is using them yourself to describe others in court, troublemakers, idiots, a-holes, first two are ok, last is not.

Is a 17 year old legally allowed to open carry a long gun in WI? I think the law says you must be 18 to open carry, but is that specific to hand guns or is that all guns?
I believe there a clause for hunting.
So the legality of carrying a gun, in this case, isn't too important. You do not, in all 50 states, lose your right to self defense if you possess a firearm illegally.
What does The Constitution say?
It is not only a right, but it is every American males duty to know how to own, maintain and safely and effectively operate a modern-day rifle. Saying a 17 year old isn’t old enough to carry a rifle is just sad. You should be taught to handle firearms at 12.

During the questioning by "reporters", before they saw the video, both men accidently called the shooter "the medic" twice as they were recalling what they believed happened. (Though claimed they saw nothing). Jason Lackowski actually got defensive when the people there implied it was not self defense.

Why were there rioters out there in the first place? They should have brought in the national guard and immediately arrested every single one of those domestic terrorists who believed they can burn, loot, and murder without any regard for the law. It's unfortunate things worked out the way they did. The police and law enforcement failed to secure the situation and private citizens had to come in to bring order. They were burning whole car lots down the first night, once these guys showed up that all stopped.
Does anyone else find it mind boggling that the judge won't allow Huber, Rosenbaum, or Grosskreutz to be referred to as "victims", and won't allow any of the militia members to be called "proud boys", or "Boogaloo Bois" even though a majority of them openly admit to their affiliation, but will allow protesters to be referred to as rioters ?
There is no inconsistency. Because Kyle is the accused, he is provided special protections against characterizations that imply his guilt. Witnesses are not afforded such protections because they're not on trial.
For them to be "victims" they can't be the assailant.... This is what this case is about...maybe Kyle was the victim...and that's how it going right now.
@@andrewj9831 Agreed 100%. Calling Gaige et al. victims essentially labels Kyle as guilty. Not sure why Judge Schroeder's rule isn't the law in every state and every court proceeding. It makes perfect sense.

Very damaging testimony for Rittenhouse... it established that once again RIttenhouse lied about being an EMT (In Wisconson you must be 18 to be a certified EMT)... Rittenhouse may have been in training... but he didn't say "EMT Trainee"... he said "EMT". This could damage Rittenhouse's credibility if he goes on the stand. Secondly, it established that another armed man found Rosenbaum to be "not a threat at all" after interacting with him. Third, it established that Rosenbaum would "false step" and back off... which Lackdowski didn't find threatening. Rosenbaum could have been doing this to Rittenhouse and RIttenhouse over-reacted and shot him.
EMT/Medic was used liberally at these protests to describe anyone at the protests who were there to help when people were hurt. Regular people would come and play the roles of medics.

And you have already been told about Lackowski saying if Rosenbaum did to him what he did to Kyle that he would consider it a threat on his life. I even gave you a time stamp on the video to start watching it.
You also clearly missed testimony from another witness that Rosenbaum was lunging at Kyle trying to take his firearm.
Not at all. Kyle doesn't live in WI. He got his training when he decided to be a lifeguard. You say, once again he lied. What did he lie about before? This witness helped his case and further destroyed the prosecution's case as his other witnesses have done. Had you bothered to listen to all the testimony and pay attention you would know this. You obviously didn't listen to the defense attorney cross examine this witness. Rosenbaum never threatened this witness. Rosenbaum never chased after this witness. Rosenbaum never tried to go for the gun this witness had. But this witness did say if Rosenbaum did the same to him as he did to Kyle he would have treated that a threat against his life. Oops!
Maybe he was. The question is really did Kyle feel threatened in the situation at the exact time he chose to shoot.
For the people saying Kyle is a hero, WHO RAISED AND HURT Y'ALL?
For the future riots, just get a baseball bat. You can protect property with a bat just as effectively as with a gun in these situations. A guy wanted to kill himself and achieved this. This ritten boy is no more guilty than a train or a pavement if he guy jumped out of the window. He wouldnt do it if kyle had a bat. The other two also would have been alive.

This guy and Ryan Balch had never met Kyle before and should not be considered friends. More like temporary associates for that night. But I agree, he seems to have a problem with Kyle or at maybe just some contempt. Binger claimed Balch lied, but he had no reason to lie (except maybe when he lost track of Kyle, which allowed the whole Rosenbaum thing to happen). He barely knew Rittenhouse.
Guaranteed they talked, Binger talked to every witness. He wouldn't have threatened him but probably had a conversation saying someone needs to be guilty and that's Kyle, but if not, then maybe they start looking at others there..

It's funny how laywers think that they have to describe everything with words as if there is no video recording of the trial. Like dude, if someone wanted to review this case 100 years from now, they can see the video, you don't need to use words to describe a certain action.
It’s for the transcript. Regardless of audio or video which can be edited, court transcripts cannot be. Transcripts are still what’s used in appeals & other court related proceedings. So, yes it needs to be described for the record.
@@laceyjade9834 Perhaps its time to update the process. Its very outdated given the advancements of tech. Transcripts can also be written incorrectly, and misinterpreted given the complexity of human speech.
Spoken like someone who doesn’t know a thing about law. 1) The jury needs to have the full picture, it’s rare that a case has as much video evidence as this one does 2) It’s for the transcript, people refer to them in text either in school or in hearing 3) It’s to remove all ambiguity

I can appreciate how the judge comes across as if he were just the guy in front of you in line at Tractor Supply. He’s got a tough case and he clearly wants everyone in the courtroom to feel a level of comfort and honesty. That being said….

Question for those that know the regulation. Is it allowed for a 17 child to own a weapon in that state? How did he obtain the weapon if not lawful?
It isn’t and his friend bought it for him. He will be found guilty of that crime, with no doubt.
Kyle never actually owned the gun, it was in his friends name. Essentially the friend was holding it in trust for him and once he turned 18 they were going to do a private sale to transfer it to Kyle. Of course the media didn't really explain this, like everything else.. And it sounds like WI laws have an exemption for 16 and 17 year olds to open carry as long as it's a long gun, aka not a handgun or short barrel rifle.
@@RoyKoopaling wouldn’t say with no doubt. The laws are muddy there for 17 year olds and long guns. In day 9 of the trial they had a conversation about Wisconsin Statute 29.304, so it’s not “without a doubt” considering that along with the police giving them permission to watch that specific area, and the city in a state of emergency.
@@zombieepx1933 I agree, since my comment I’ve been reading up on this, and now think there’s actually a good argument for him to be found not guilty of this charge as well.
Seemed like the only thing the prosecution might have a vague idea of, until during Rittenhouse's testimony the judge said that both Binger and Kyle's understanding of the law did not match reality.
The other witness left Kyle alone and didn’t follow the buddy system.

@@james123stewart, yes exactly, if you view the video taken by Richie McGinnis in which he interviews Kyle Rittenhouse, Kyle is following Ryan Balch. Apparently Ryan needed to have put Kyle on a leash so that he wouldn't have wandered off.

Kyle is an immature misguided child that should not have had weapon. (he lied and told ppl he was 19). They are being tricked by police by their lack of enforcement.
Now he will be locked up.

The judge tries to be funny and glib and often has a smile on his face.
So there's a bunch of guys coming from all over the country feeling the urge to "help out" local law enforcement.
They carry heavy assult weapons , a can of mace and a first aid kit. On arrival in Kenosha they get "assigned" to a district and are ordered to protect properties.
They have "friendly chats" with the unarmed protesters. They have their guns hanging over their chest , barrel down , showing their friendly nature. And if things heat up , they politely Shout-Shove-Show and Shoot ... and shoot they do!
It must be very frightening to live in America.
That sad part about what you just so eloquently laid out is so many don't see it that way. There are a bunch of sick f*cks in this country! How can you not see the wrong in what happened here? Additionally, the arrogance that these people display is amazing. They really believe they had the "right" to do what they did and they DON'T! I despise ignorance, arrogance, and hate!
