If you do this, you have no respect for your own wife and children.

This guy is clearly shell shocked. So pretty much they were lucky. To know those were dead cars and folks were waiting in line after them is really horrific. So essentially at that point, everyone waiting behind amounts to nothing but sitting ducks. Wow.
this is the second interviewer who inserts business as usual as a terrorized victim tells his story step by step. She essentially cut him off twice and then used the ridiculous description of how it "must have been harrowing" in her parting words. Harrowing? Try terrifying. What a hack 'reporter'. Wow.

That poor man is clearly still in a deep state of psychological shock. I hope he is able to speak freely and as often as he feels the need to with unedited candour amongst people he implicitly trusts, that in conjunction with an appropriately skilled counsellor/therapist will help circumvent the crippling manifestation of PTSD.

TBH I don’t think therapy helps this. Decompression with others who also experienced this may help. The UK military initially use this technique to help combatants.
Just having his story heard may help him. He feels he is being useful by giving this testimony. That’s better than feeling helpless. He is turning his experience into a useful constructive task by witnessing, that will help him.
@@shirleywilliams5397 Therapy will absolutely help him to not develop PTSD from this in the future, or learn how to cope with it when it does happen.

I was thinking the murder was limited to the area around the festival, and if the victims escaped that area, they were safe, but he indicated it was spread out for miles.
it was the whole of south israel, there were over 1K terrorists some even reached Ofakim, which is waaay south. Gaza is somewhat central. They killed people in th e settements in their own homes and kidnapped and slaughtered entire families. They were not safe out of the party.
@Colley1973 numerous groups of soldiers broke through the border at numerous places all at the same time and each group was just shooting anyone they saw , setting house on fire to make the people inside come out , taking hostages etc Entire families were killed in their homes .

Who chose the rave's location , so close to the border?
Israel is the size of New Jersey, roughly. It's not like California with endless land.
Israel is rather narrow. Anywhere you are, you're close to a border one way or another.
There are communities near the border and it's not unusual to have a gathering. I used to live right next to the border of the West Bank (spent time there as well) and while you know that it's close, the border being breached like it was would be extremely unexpected. While this party was a bad idea in hindsight, I have to admit I wouldn't have thought twice about being in the area.
While the country is narrow as other have made comments, 5 miles to the border is very close. There are indeed areas not so close to the territories.

The attack was done in the beginning of the holiday "שמחה תורה" and so many of the soldier were unprepared, as well as most of the volunteers not working that day

I couldn't imagine popping molly all night, then having the sun come up and a massacre all at the same time. Poor people dealt with some extreme highs and awful lows in a short amount of time . Too many of these young people stuck in that situation had taken a lot of party type drugs and said they couldn't shake it off at the time and could not think or react fast enough to what was happening around them
