so true, we learned that with Music as well. We had a Studio, with studio mics, studio speaker, huge amps, and iMacs. Music was great but it felt robotic. We have now made our best music using our iPhones with Bandlab on a 10 dollar lav mic. Sure the "quality" is lower, but people LOVE the energy, since you can do it in the confort of your home, car, etc.
So my wife took all her social media apps and games off her phone yesterday. She wants to do more stuff with film making for our band and stuff in Unreal Engine. She was on the edge of her seat watching this video. She got really excited and started asking questions about lighting and stuff. Please make more of this stuff. You are the reason we got an Iphone 15 pro max and the Freewell lenses. We love your Channel.
Thank You for this video! No matter how much I want to work with Blazar Anamorphic lenses and full frame cameras - I’m 73 years old. Running and gunning a rig like that is just not an option for me. I tried hand holding my iPhone and using it with a cage - but I’m still fighting my hands shaking during a take. I just invested in a gimbal and it’s been game changer for me. Add to that a decent camera app (I like KINO) and an ND filter and I’m half way there. With those tools I can now concentrate more on light, composition, camera movement, and story. Like I said at the beginning, thank you for supporting your whole community - even us iPhone cinematographers!
Dude, thanks for making this :) Doing my channel purely with a phone since october 2023 this is sweet sweet content, much appreciated :) And some day, some day indeed, I will have a «real» camera and *not* have to stop a b-roll shoot just to answer a call from my mom, but until that day the phone will be my *spearhead of creativity* indeed :)
Great video. Lots of good information. I am still leaning how to use my gimbal with the iPhone. I’ve been doing it hand held, with the help of a few accessories including ND filter 😊 but planning to add similar accessories to the gimbal set up.
I just installed the Black Magic App on my iPhone 15 Pro and this unlocks all the settings to film. I will use the Log profile to match my Fuji XT3 footage.
Hope you are not near the fires. As always an inspiration watching your videos. I am off to a desert island for a month, trying to pack my bag with gear! It won’t be light!
Thanks for the video. Still - phone footage stays phone footage. Your video is well balanced, but I really hate it when shills try to market iPhones as "cinema cameras".
This really inspired me to go shoot with my Gimbal. I have the base model iPhone 15 it does not shoot log. Can I still pull off cinematic looking shots and is an ND filter worth for my base model iPhone 15?
The ND filter is just for the shutter speed / angle (what gives footage motion blur so it looks less jerky). The log mostly gives you more color space so that you can mess with color correction…learn Davinci Resolve before you invest in a new phone… you can still do a lot by taking HDR footage (Rec2020) and coloring it for regular tv output (Rec 709)
I have the 1TB iPhone 16 Pro Max and rarely shoot ProRez because I run out of space. I REALLY hope Apple will come out with a 2TB version. Note: I don't want to attach an external SSD. 8-)
"creativity starts in your head and not in your pockets". thanks for your good authentic views.
This is truly the Zen of filmmaking, reducing down to essentials and liberating creativity.

I like the zyhun.. But the Hohem M7 will get my money this time round

is there a tracking gimbal like tis that will work with the s5ii?
Sedona is the real star of this video
Am I seeing some banding in the sky on the iphone shots?
There’s even banding in the blackmagic Pyxis footage. It’s just UA-cam messing up my grades haha
Hope you are not near the fires. As always an inspiration watching your videos. I am off to a desert island for a month, trying to pack my bag with gear! It won’t be light!
These mountains had fires a couple months back, luckily not this time. It’s so sad to see what’s happening in LA 😭

Also, as Cam says, “cinematic” really just means intentional.
I clicked on the link to see cammackey talking about iPhone Filmmaking and the commercial in the beginning is cammackey promoting audiio 🤣🤣🤣
Huh
Yep… Start with your phone is 🔐
