- Easily multiply dozens of pineapple plants from a pineapple top, this method focuses on producing pineapple suckers that will grow better faster, and stronger than cultivating the entire top. In this video, We will talk about selecting the best pineapple for success, how to prepare it for multiplying and what to expect with results. Propagating pineapples from pineapple tops will produce a genetically identical clone of the plant that produced the fruit originally, so a great fun rewarding experience! a must try for all that love gardening and horticulture :-)

Saw this video a couple months ago. Went and got a pineapple, cut the top into quarters, cinnamon, planted… today all 4 quarters have rooted 😂 waiting on shoots! Brilliant information 💯
@BrentBillups that's awesome, mate!! You had more success than me with it 😊 I'm going to try and get some more going soon. Thanks for letting me know how you got on 👍
The reason pineapples grow to a tiny size, when you plant the full top, is because they cycle; moreover, if you plant the tops of the tiny pineapples, those will grow into large pineapples, so on and so forth.
Best instructional video on this subject so far. Thanks! Subscribed!
Thanks 😃
Thank you very much for the content. Such films are a great enrichment in a world which is filled more and more by violence.
I just divided my pineapple top in to quarters today 😮 I'll come back in a month to give an update how my cutlets are growing
@OwOUwUOnO nice! It might take several tries so don't get discouraged if it fails.
@GreenthumbsGarden it's been about 10 days now & the leaves are slowly turning back to a healthy green & firm color.
They look much better now compared to when I just had the whole pineapple top in the soil.
It was only wilting away as a whole top in the soil.
Now I have to buy a pineapple just to try this!
Me too😂
Me too😂
@sherreeroper7656 here is ab update on my pineapple propagation.. all 4 of my group of leaves are now growing more leaves.. I'm so excited!!!
Yes….me too
@@kathyfranco9372and how is it going now?
strangest English I've ever heard, but very educating. Thank you very much! greetings from Colombia mate! ;)
Great knowledge great quality video. Thanks. Subbed 👍
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you! I have 2 going now, we'll see if they take. Next time I'll do your method.
Just got two crowns quartered and coated in cinnamon and ready to plant tomorrow. Can’t wait. Thank you for the tips! Great stuff!
when the greenhouse is complete there is a special place just for pineapples using your methods youve taught me mate. always a great video alex.
That's awesome Curtis! Your greenhouse is going to be epic! The size is tremendous!! Once it's done and you got some things going on in it,maybe we can do a collaboration and you give us a tour or something that I can share here on the channel 😃
YOU TAUGHT ME SOMETHING NEW!!! ABOUT GROWING PINEAPPLES!!!🍍🍍🍍 FROM CUTTING THE TOPS INTO QUARTERS!!! UHH-MAZING!!! NOW I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY IT MYSELF!!!😂🌱🍍🌿🍍 BUT WHERE'S THE VIDEO ON THE 🍵 TEA TO FEED THEM WHILE ROOTING THEM?🤓👍🏽🙋🏽♀️🔥🙏🏽👑✝️📖🔥
Here! ua-cam.com/video/ViBzstteuzs/v-deo.html And thanks very much :-)
One video. The You Tuber fertilized hers with coffee grounds . She said she grew 7 Lb. pineapples.
Probably because pineapples like slightly acidic soil. Most commercial pineapples are grown in volcanic areas which have acidic soil.
This was so so so good! 素晴らしいですねえ
Thanks mate 😊
Definitely going to try that method, thank you Alex 😁🌱☀️
Nice Fletchy! This is a great method, o love it 😃
I use a weak hydroponic solution with micro nutrients to root pineapples. They root very quickly. Started some tops about a month ago and they are already rooted and growing. Definitely gonna try this method. As a side note I also use the nutrient when starting seeds and they typically germinate in about half the time.
that sounds really cool David. seeds in general or pineapple seeds?
How do we care fir them in winter keep them indoor ?
yep... unless you live in a place with warm winters. The will survive cold weather but frost will kill them, and under 20c you will notice they stop growing completely.
Are you saying that, before you plant seeds, you germinate them with an NPK solution when germinating them in a paper towel with water …. ?
This is great to know and thanks for the cinnamon tip. I have been inspired to give this a try and hope for the best.
Brilliantly done as always. Thank you. I will try this great method! 🤝🏼
Thanks Barry! Let me know how you get on 🙂
Thanks, my friend ❤️ 2023 24 October
You're welcome, glad you enjoy the content @monicasmith9215 😀 Happy growing!! 🌱
I know this is an older video, but you just got a new sub because of this pineapple info. Thanks!
ur the percy thrower of 2 day r alex thanks 4 the information lv x
🙃🌲
You ought to have the same results from cutting into quarters soon after they start root.
Interesting and informative 🇯🇲 💯
😂😅 not even close
Thank you!! Well done, going to quarter my top!
This is amazing. I had no idea this would work like that! Definitely gonna try this in the next spring! I have a top that got real big that I'm overwintering just now I brought it inside and repotted it. I have him under a grow light for about 10 hours a day and it also gets sun from a window. Hopefully it will keep growing throughout the winter but likely will become dormant because my house gets to about 63- 65 in the winter
Hope it works out!!
Love this! Makes sense.
Many thanks for this information. Very grateful.
😅
Good
Love it 🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍
final count down Binax!
I accidentally didn't pull on them but it seemed to grow.😅😅😅
I tried doing this an aquaponics system ahwile back. They all rooted and grew beautifully for the first few months but didn't seem happy after that.
Maybe to cold?
@@GreenthumbsGarden no, I'm growing them in Costa Rica. I just don't think aquaponics is the best for pineapples. Great for getting them started though and cloning.
You actually don't need to pull the leaves off. Theres a guy on UA-cam who has been doing this for 30 years and he never takes the leaves off and also he let's them dry before planting them to prevent rot.
Nice video. What do your plants look like now after 5 months?
Still the same 🤣 it's been winter here, very cold below zero some nights. So the whole duration they have been in my potting shed with the other ones and my dragon fruits, sheltered away. So they should hopefully start growing soon,
Over from David The Good... good stuff here. Thanks
Green Thumbs 👍🌱
Awesome, thank you! :-)
rather than sprinkling cinnamon on the quarters and losing some, get a container with a larger opening and dip the quarter into it, shake a little off and you won't have that waste perhaps???...gotta try this way for sure. Thanks for the info
Even a bag would work
Hey buddy, was just wondering if replanting the quarter again was able to grow another sucker. And thank you for all your videos. They are so helpful.
Nope, it failed, but I still think it would work. I had a huge fungus gnat issue in the potting shed and I partly blame that for the onset of rot. I would try it again in the future.
@@GreenthumbsGarden buy nematodes, they eat pest larvae like fungus nats
Thanks sir
Great Video.
Glad you enjoyed it Dan :-)
Can you put them in water and let them root first this way?
I’ve used a pineapple top which I took the bottom leaves off just like he did and placed in water for a couple of weeks until the roots got 3-4 inches long. I planted in a 5 gallon container outdoors and a year later I planted on the ground. It will be 2 years July 4th and pineapple is about 5”. Can’t wait to harvest. It’s a very easy plant, just water. I never fed it but maybe I should have. Full sun. I live in South Fl. Good luck!
What is to stop you from cutting it into more slices, why stop at 4?
Well wish me luck, I've got the 4 growing. Some videos cut some of the tops off. I don't know if that will effect the germinating process..
Never knew about putting cinnamon on them.
Hey Dig. It's Badge. Like the video
Hey hey! I thought you were dead! awesome to hear from you man, i sent you some discord messages ages ago but you vanished off the grid :-)
I caught Covid and almost died. I was in the hospital for over 6 months, doctors wanted to pull the plug and me and my wife prayed and said she couldn't do it. It's been along journey. Had to relearn how to walk and talk and everyday skills again. Still on the mend, but slowly recovering.
Blooming heck Brad!! I wondered as you just dropped out of existence. Super glad your recovering buddy, sounds like its been a real tough time for you and the family, really happy you made the best decision. Hopefully we can catch up soon :-) really great to hear from you!
Thanks Alex. Let's definitely catch up soon. I saw you're post so I thought it'd be good to say hello. Blessings my friend. Look forward to catching up soon.
@@The-Great-Badge sure thing, when you can, get discord back up, and we can catch up. Sending our love over from here, a big hug for you guys 🤗
What is horsetail tea ?
a herbal tea commonly sold made from the herb Horsetail. Its very good for flushing the kidneys and a great fungicide.
My pineapple top is half the size of yours. Should I just cut it in half or would you still quarter it, no matter the size?
@@melodylamour6123 I would still just quarter it.
That plant in the black container at the end lfof the vid looked a bit bright. How did it fare this summer? When they get like that a lot of times they need an iron supplement.
They've done well this summer, I'll make an update vid soon on them, just been hacking away making a lemon video and it's been a behemoth to edit 😫 it got a bit scorched the one in the black container, but they coming on nicely.
l did put mine in a glass jar water for root grow and tomorrow l will change the water again second time ( l change water every sec day and use filtered water) but my pineapple's leafs looks bad every each day, maybe l do something wrong?
Does the pineapple still ripen after you twist the top off? I hate to waste a pineapple just so I have a beautiful top to propagate.
I heard from another UA-cam video that the giant pineapples we buy are not natural. The plant from the top may create one large pineapple and then it will revert to natural smaller pineapples after that. They taste great apparently.
I have not heard this, interesting.
@@GreenthumbsGarden in Thailand you get small pineapples,as that’s how it’s grown all natural and they taste so much better then any other pineapple that I’ve ever eaten!
the plant only grows one pineapple it is the pups that grow the next
4:30 you got me nervous
🗡😂
Can you replant the quarter to keep getting shoots coming up.
I like how you think Carlos!!! It's exactly what I did, but didn't mention it in the video as it will be the first time. I have a good hunch it will work!
@@GreenthumbsGarden Hi, could you kindly give an update on this?
Yes you can, if the quarter still have more eyes to sprout
It didn't, it should have tho, I'm convinced it could have. It died, but I believe it was due to my sever fungus gnat infestation i had during that time, they ate what little roots where there and spred fungus/ pathogens.
The little plants with tiny pineapples we see for sale, are bromeliads. The pineapples aren’t edible, just ornamental. Bury up to leaves, and start a new plant! They grow fast!
What makes the pineapple to have purple leaves ?
hard to tell without a pic, could be getting sunburned? if placed from inside indirect light straight out in to full sun, or maybe been left too dry.
I have a plant that is three or more years old. Never got fruit from it and it has barely grown at all in quite awhile. Any suggestions? Thanks.
If its under 20c temperature then it will not grow. Mine have only just started growing again since winter.
@@GreenthumbsGarden it is t a temp thing. It just doesn’t grow. It’s not dead, but going on three years without much activity. Was wondering if that is a sign of an underdeveloped root system you mentioned in the video. If so, can I try dividing this plant as you did with the dress top of the pineapple?
Do you feed it? how is it in the pot, does it feel well rotted or is it tipping over? what temperatures is it dealing with? what's the light situation?
I regularly use cardboard boxes as starter boxes.
Yeah it worked pretty well and gives some use to all those amazon boxes 😅 I think what ill do tho next time is maybe make some wooden frames to help support the box when it gets damp and hold it together.
Going to make an update vid on how they getting on fairly soon, anything you guys would like me to cover in it?
Do I cut the growing one
great video, looking forward to the update
ua-cam.com/video/JjN7XXw98Ss/v-deo.html here is the update... cant believe it took me so long to get around it. Trying to keep the videos simpler and easier to edit for things like this... 6months is a micky teck..lol
that's because you did not fertilize at least a couple of times ,sounds like to me
How’s the pineapples doing today?
they actually doing good! started getting some nice growth from them. Ill think of an update and some FAQs t make it a little more interesting :-)
New meferd
You are probably getting smaller pineapples because you are splitting the root into 4.
He said the very opposite early in the video.
One pineapple to grow One pineapple,
The reason why the pineapples do not grow to full size is because of hormones, they are given hormones generally in the commercial industry. If you are regrowing this plant at home, you are not giving it the same dose of hormones that it was getting in the production line.
Tried it. I have four little clone buds, I e for each quarter. When I saw them coming out, I did a second top. 😝
🥳🎉🌱 Congrats! brilliant stuff @faithli2131
Congratulations on having faith to try
Hi how long was it before you saw signs of shooting thanks
@@caroleclack1396 don’t remember exactly, but I think I had just about given up on it when they finally sprouted. A goodly number of weeks, I’d say.
Thanks I'll keep waiting see if they shoot x
Very cool.
Thanks @davidthegood 😀 Happy growing!! 🌱
Alright, I tried it - and got three baby plants from one top! One quarter rotted, another one hasn't sent up a shoot yet, one made two baby plants, and another made a single plant. Awesome! I think we would have done much better if it hadn't been so cold in the greenhouse when we tried it.
My quartered top initially sprouted nice green buds on 3. Then they stalled, so I carefully got them out of the soil and realized the bottom part was rotting. 😢
Thanks cause i was wondering why my pineapple was doing great its hudge but the pineapple its self is tiny so what do i do when i remove the tiny pinapple off of rhe tree do i just throw that big part away?
Meaning whay do i do with my pot plant then does it grow another one is that why its so big coming shooting out three different places
@@kimberlyjohnson8132watch some videos. You should have slips and suckers coming off the plant. You can leave one of the slips on the plant (just one to get a bigger fruit), and grow another pineapple from it, but remove the suckers and plant them individually to get more pineapples.
as @kona702 says, the plant will produce suckers, like the little plantlets we got in the video, these you can brake off and grow to get more pineapples and they will produce full size. when you grow a pineapple plant from a top, it grows a small pineapple. I'm not sure why.
Here is the recent update on how our plantlets are getting on and some winter care tips ua-cam.com/video/JjN7XXw98Ss/v-deo.html
Help pls my plant the new center leaves have rotted away is my plant dead
When the center rots away, and you can pull it out, it is normally dead 😞 sorry. Maybe a new sucker could grow on the side if there is still life.
😅
The rest of the plant is still green and strong
@@antoniofodaro8064 ok so its just the very centre? what I would do it give it a spray of copper fungicide or a dusting with sulphur, hold off from watering and allow the plant to dry to dry out a little in-between. In winter they can be very susceptible to fungus and rotting if left too wet, left in the rain and the cold nights. keep it warm and just a little most and plenty of sun. Hopefully it will send out a few suckers. that will replace the centre growth. check out my recent update on pineapples ua-cam.com/video/JjN7XXw98Ss/v-deo.html and keep me updated on how you get on :-)
Great video❤❤❤
