    Thanks for the tutorial. I’m currently assembling my first army which I’m going for a Blood Angels and right now I’m tackling mephiston and Dante. They’re both pretty daunting to paint but your guides are pretty straightforward and easy to follow plus hearing someone say “it’s ok if you make mistakes you can always just clean it up right after” does help too.

    Great video, man! I was watching another video first - I got the retributor on, along with the corax white and caliban green, and silver, and was thinking it looked pretty sharp; but before following the other video's shading and highlighting tips, I decided to watch some more videos. Glad I did too! Yours takes too prize. I'll be following your plan now! Thanks!

    Absolutely stellar work as always. I really love the power axe and gold recipe for Dante. I'm definitely giving these techniques a try when I get around to painting my Dante for sure. Great tutorial once again Lloyd 👍

    any tips on brush control? I wish I had your level of precision with the brush

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  Рік тому

      I'd always start by making sure to have a good brush point, by twisting it as I take it out of the paint.
      This also helps to make sure that you don't have too much paint on the brush which is also a rwlaly important factor.
      Outside of that, I make sure to brace my elbows on my desk to be as strady as possible, and for really detailed parts I use 3.5x magnification.
      Hope that helps!

    One more question- how you could create that thin lines for a blade? damn sparks and straght lines xD. what is your secret

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  9 місяців тому

      Good tip on the brush, and also painting within the previous colour - also important thay white is used sparingly as this gives the spark impression

    • @BloodyArchangelus
      @BloodyArchangelus 9 місяців тому +1

      i guess i should thin brush more and use no water at all.@@ThePaintingCoach

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  9 місяців тому +1

      You'll need to thin it a little - that will also help with the transitions - when you take the brush out of the paint, twist it as you go, this will restore the tip

    Can you give me advice? I want to make an effect of wet stone on base, like after rain, but i dont know how to make it properly not ruing all work. Should i just use ardcoat all over stones and a bit of diluted shades to dark it a bit and thats it?

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  Рік тому

      Yes gloss varnish will give you a nice wet look. For something less shiny you could try a satin varnish.

    Painting Coach I have something important to ask about metallic colors. What is the deal with thinning them? I have army painter as well as vallejo metallics, and when I thin them with water the coverage goes kaput. It's as if the glitter seperates from the medium and I find myself having to apply many coats, and very often wicking away the flakes that inevitably run off into unintended areas. Recently I painted Mozrog Skragbad and the Exhaust Pipes on Big Chompa took 4 or more coats and I only thinned the paints with an equal amount of water. Obviously I can't not thin the paints because I need them to be fluid and not clog details. Meanwhile I see guys like you painting with metallics and having no trouble with fluidity and coverage, so what gives? Is it because citadel metallics just don't have this problem? I honestly feel a little embarrassed about this because I've been painting warhammer since the beginning of 2021 and this is something I've yet to figure out. Thanks for all the work you do, brother.

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  Рік тому

      I can only comment on what I do/use. I mainly use Citadel metallics for gold - I also use them on a Redgrass Games wet palette and add very little water to Retributor armour and nothing to something like Liherator Gold.
      As for Leadbelcher, if I use it, again only a tiny bit of water.
      For silvers, I use predominantly Vallejo Metal Color Dark Aluminium - I don't think this at all, and use it on a traditional plastic palette. For highlights I use Model Air Chrome - which is thin enough too and just put this on my wet palette.
      Not sure if that is helpful at all, but feel free to ask any more questions you may have. One addition I would make is that it's important not to have too much paint on your brush as well 👍🏻

      @dabiddabidson9781 Рік тому +1

      Ah alright, it seems I need to thin them much less than I currently do. Thank you very much.

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  Рік тому

      No problem - always useful to practice things like dilution on spare parts and also plasticard 👍🏻

    Have you watered the shades( or mix it with lahmian medium)? your nuln oil is looking much clearer than mine. Guess i f*cked up my cloak and have to buy new dante ahahahaha

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  10 місяців тому +1

      No I didn't - I used the new formulation shades though. No need to buy a new model - just rebase the cloth - the wash is thin enough

    • @BloodyArchangelus
      @BloodyArchangelus 10 місяців тому +1

      I rebased it and it almost killed all features, but than i managed to fix it, but it still much darker than yours, but it is okay. New formulation shades, you mean the new ones(2022\2023)? people were not a fans of them as i can remember, but can give a try. guess i should mix it with lahmian, coz red is very sensetive to any shade, i killed a lot of marines( had to fix them) using shades, when golden armor dont care about it at all.@@ThePaintingCoach
