I was medically disqualified from the Navy, but my recruiter had no interest in applying for a waiver (he said they are applied for automatically and it was essentially denied in the same sweep, then proceeded to ghost me). So im taking some time to get my PPL then ill take another swing at it. I went through everything too, ASTB and MEPS. Any Navy officer recruiters near STL, hit me up if you want to help. 62/9/9/9 score. Thanks Mover and Gonky, always like hearing these stories from guests. Things never seem to go to plan.
Had a buddy get the NAMI Whammy bc his femur was too long, he ended up going air force and skin the middle of UPT now. 62 9/9/9 is a monster score, no doubt you’re gonna do great given a chance. Good Luck!
@@YeongjunKwon @Smiles_McGeee @posmoo9790 Thanks guys, I keep coming back here for motivation. Best of luck on the CPL, Kwon. I'm blown away at the level of detail that goes into flying, even at a private level.
Loved this section of the main video mate. Love how created you really created the 'make-them-tell-you-no' concept, and now we are hearing such amazing stories.. Well done - as usual.
Nice reporting about CAP. I got involved with them between the time I seperated from active duty AF and getting into my PA ANG unit. I kept doing both as an Aerospace Education Officer, Transport Pilot and finally the Central Pennsylvania Group 30 Director of Operations. Our Group Commander was retired AF who flew C-133's. Lots of neat hanger flying and found out that the C-133's had a bad habit of catching fire in flight. He also flew C-130's. Found out from him that the A models had a bad habit of reversing an engine or two on take-off. Gronky Tyson will be lucky that he won't have to deal with that garbage as they solved the reversing problem. Keep up the great work, Gentlemen.
Great to hear his route to his dream! I ran the airsickness program at Columbus UPT (Aerospace Physiology) eons ago. Loved putting students back in the cockpit, and after they graduated had many come back (literally a year from starting UPT), and thank me. Go AF!
This is such an inspirational track to becoming a frickin' fighter pilot! I wish I could have heard this story 20 years ago when I was 22. At 27 I considered joining the Air Force after having a tough time working in Finance in 2008 and 2009. But let's be real, I wouldn't have become a pilot. I'd just be an IT guy in the Space Force today because I'm an IT in the civilian world today. I bet I'd look good with those side buttons and baggy pants😂
When someone would tell Napoleon they found a brilliant officer that should be made a general he would say, "Yes, but is he lucky?" Napoleon was one of the greatest geniuses in all of history. This guy is great and has a hell of a drive but he was lucky enough to have had probably 10 people that could have stood in his way that chose to help him even though they gained nothing by it. The recruiter, the doctor, all his bosses. His journey is kind of the miraculous.
I was in the process of beginning a high school co-op with the local reserve recce armour regiment and at the same time beginning my application to ROTC to try to fly CF-18s. The Air Force guys gave me some pep talk about spending time in barracks on a base rather than in a trench. Aparently the system wasn't able to have me on file for one MOC, while applying for another, even though I would have finished the co-op well before going to RMC. Maybe they just didn't want to deal with the paperwork. I qualified as a navigator but not a pilot so I waited until the next year to reapply, but by that time life had moved on and I chose another career path. I worked with a guy who was in the coop and I wonder what the end of my high school years would have been like in armoured recce.
This makes one wonder how many other potentially great aviators never got a chance because of the “process” and the pedantry of those low-level decision-makers who follow the rule-book with no ability to see the potential in people. Mover knows all about this, I suspect.
‘I can’t explain it’
In this life, you make your own luck. Ammo, you deserve it all.

For real Mover this interview was Gold ...Ammo is such a cool dude
Getting that fifth T38 slot reminds me of a saying, "You know what they call a doctor that finishes at the bottom of his class.... A doctor!"

His story is awesome, I wish I had forced them to tell me no.
Great story. You ran into some good guys who helped you out. I got my flight physical at Wri❤got Pat in 1969.

Great Story! Great Guy !
My Hero ..
What an amazing story! What he had to overcome, the humility that he has, and the number of times that he cited God's help is so refreshing. So cool!
