this is sick way more than i would want to do but great to know whats possible keep it up bro
Great video. Watched it twice bc the ride is so relaxing along with very useful info. Thanks!
The reason I love gears with the mid-drive because I can still pedal at 34mph and I wasn't even breaking a sweat 😅
This was a banger. You had valid points on the motorcycle argument. 100% agree. I like the liquor store run. Watch its gonna catch on
I deleted so much dialog, I had more fuel lol
Keep up the good content! Nice review!
I have an ecotric 20in 48v fat tire e-bike max speed 24mph and I'm happy with it and I'll ride it in the snow when it comes. Here in Saint cloud Mn still love your videos and God bless you and your family
Great Job!! Awesome build!!!
Good information video. You are becoming the e bike upgrade Man. I'm ready to upgrade our Lectric 2.0 the way you did yours. Great point you don't use all the power., but power on standby is beautiful. Great job
Thank you for your honesty
Solid vid bro! I agree with having range and the ability to speed up when needed 👍🏽. Ride safe and Aloha! 🤙🏾
The chill version of Flossy Carter
Im hooked nice job!
Amen Brother. I have a sport bike and I want a super73-ZX for the same reason. My Ninja isn't as fun. I want to have fun. Thank you for making this bold statement.
Awesome vid. Sick bike. !
Keep Doing yo Thang Big Dawg….. Great Video 👍🏾
Alright so thanks to you I am ordering one today! Thanks and liked and Subscribed so bring it!!!
Really good stuff
Awesome video. I just purchased the Miami, and I like it. But I wish it was a tad faster and a tad more range lol so I’m looking at what mods I need!
Nicely explained, respect for your creativity and congrats on a cool bike.
PS. some of this ebike stuff is philosophy and choice. For example I prefer a Honda Grom that will do 60mph in stock form for the kind of street riding you do...and we share a similar background of owning other faster motorcycles...but I prefer more of a 'bicycle based' ebike as in pedaling variety. I have a BBSHD on a drop bar road bike which will do over 40mph...and I pedal along as well.
So this hobby depends a lot on personal preference and you touched on something which shows your wisdom and why many that have owned the fastest motorcycles actually prefer mini motos. Speed ain't all that all said.
Dueces.
Great video great bike thank you
Great video. I'm curious to know if you'll have to replace the nylon gears in the BBSHD eventually while running with that controller. Would you get the metal gears as a replacement? I ordered a bike with a BBSHD from Alibaba and I'm pretty sure it's sitting with those thousands of crates at the LA port.
If the nylon gear ends up failing I'll go with the "peak" gear from Luna, its stronger but still silent. Sucks they have a hold on your bike.
Very informative. Did you use an xt60 to xt90 adapter for your battery? Also how many links are in the chain? Thanks! 😀
I soldered on an xt90. If I can remember I believe the chain is 118 links. My bad for the late reply.
dont worry about the dumb questions, if upgrading you bike makes you happy, upgrade away, you videos help a lot of peoples. enjoy.
Nice build. I’m running a ASI 855 72V on my mountain bike pushing 4000w and love it! I also have a Juiced City Scrambler and an extra asi 800 that I want to marry with a BBSHD on it. I just wasn’t sure how it would perform with the 750w hub motor. Looks like it should be no problem after seeing this video. Thanks for showing. Do you find yourself running one motor over the other or are you always running both, just curious? I will Subscribe!
Just purchased some Shinko SR567 110/70-16 motorcycle tires for the Scrambler for better handling. Could be a good alternative to your tires.
I usually run both motors from a dead stop to get up speed, the bbshd takes over from there while coasting with peddle assist. They work great together.
Great video! One noob question..is the zx original battery came with a 36v battery like the z1? or is a 48v or 72v? Just want to know what volt is the battery the zx have (the original). Thanks!!
ZX comes with 48v system.
@@urbangrizzly3709 thank you for the fast response!
I have a stock s2 and the zero to 20 move times is horrible. It’s like I’m standing still. Looking at the controller, 10 speed, adding another battery and your set up. What to do?
Hey man, I've just installed a bbshd for my z1 but the factory chains too short, can you remember what size chain is needed please.... Love the vids, keep up the good work
I bought a longer chain, 120 links but I removed a couple links to make it fit. You'll need a chain breaker tool if you don't have one.
So if im going for a duel motor setup on this exact same bike I would not need the upgraded controller right? Just the mid drive with second battery for it would give me a little more power and miles? Also sick build its perfect
Right, you don't need the external controller. You'll get good torque and around 30mph without it + lots more range.
What if you replace the stock battery for a 52v on the hub motor. Resulting total 2 52v battery’s ?
im gonna do this set up on my rip racer its very similar to this super73 zx pretty much the same but has the traditional bicycle seat
So true I use to have a trail bike when I was younger I've always loved bikes but motor bikes can't ride on the sidewalk go through the parks it just fun on a e-bike and cheap and safer
@UrbanGrizzly Do you have any ideas on how I can upgrade my speed on a Juiced Bikes City Scrambler. I have the upgraded 35 amp controller/throttle on it. And I also would like to upgrade my chainring. Do you have an idea of what’s the biggest chainring I could put on my bike 🚲
As far as I know 52t/53t is the biggest chain ring. How much speed are you looking to gain?
Thanks for you vid, is it required to replace the intergrated controller for another one reach around 35-40 mph?.
If I keep the stock controller isnot worth the purchase this setup? its alzo for a ZX model
I got 30mph max with stock controller. You'll have to upgrade it if you want higher top speed.
i just got a super 73 zx and i wanted to add another battery for more speed / range because i use it for work, so what do i need to do?
can you tell me how long the cable is for the front and rear brake because the link does not work
Whats the specs of Mid-Drive Motor Conversion Kit is it 68mm/100mm/120mm?
Do you have upgrades on your bike. And what’s the top speed of your bike.
But your setup is sweet man I would love that on mine respect bro 👏
You won't regret it, it transforms your ride👍🏾
@@urbangrizzly3709 I've just added another mid-drive to my stable I bought a second hand mountain bike and added 750w mid-drive motor to it and with the bike not weighing much it flys and its so easy to Manoeuvre around and it only cost me £600 because I already had the 48v battery 😀
Loved the answer to the "why not just buy a motorcycle" you nailed it. Cool vid. I've had a BBSHD + 10 speed cassette on my RX for two years now. It completely changed the bike. How are your nylon gears holding up with the BAC? I kept the stock controller but did opt for the 1600watt hot rod tune from Luna.
I’m still using the stock nylon gears and haven’t had any problems. Still haven’t re-greased them.
After many hours of research you have convinced to buy one I live in a remote area store is about 3 miles away lot of times I jump on one of my mini bike just ride to grab things I need but have been thinking about buying a e bike to do those trips work for me is a mile away I'm not looking for insane speed I have a mini bike that does 55 easy push it hard enough it does 65 maxed out I'm just interested in learning about these as I've never messed with one always did gas motors I have a 2 stroke bike kit thats pretty fun new sub
Ik I’m late but can you add all the mods you have done? I see some mods you didn’t list in the description
Nice vid man. I tried your link to the mid drive but it didn’t work. When I look around there are various sizes. In mm. the biggest I seen is 120mm. Is this the one I need?
Yeah if you’re going to install it on a super73 you’ll need the 120mm version.
For the BBSHD, is it necessary to hook up the speed sensor to the rear tire in your dual motor build or can it be omitted?
Left mines off. The S73 display gives me mph. If you choose not to install it, just remember the mileage on the bike before you add the second motor.
I have a lectric XP 3.0 I get a flat tire like every other week please recommend me a tire that won't go flat
Which bottom bracket size works for the zx? 120mm?
A great and smart build, Urban Grizzly! Compared to a motorcycle you can ride this more or less everywhere. Super 73 should offer sets for individual set ups. So, one could have right away what's needed. Buying something and replace it with something else, does not make sense and is expensive.
You got it, not hating on the Sur Ron’s but this thing can go anywhere and be accepted as a bicycle .Super73 would corner the market if they gave an option to buy the frame only.
I've got the BBSHD like you said it's all about going fast but it's good to have the power there when you need it and for motor bike they can't go where ebikes can so we have for lots more fun plus I put my bike in the the suv, love your setup bro 👍🏾
If you have a 52v upgraded battery what kind of controller do you need?
Did you have a video how did you installed it?
appreciate the video my dude! im new to the game. i love the style of the z1 and the rx, do you know of any legit shops in socal that will do these upgrades if i were to purchase one? im having anxiety just learning the controller/battery compatabilities lol. again i appreciate the content, keep it coming.
I here the REI outdoors store will deal with ebikes. But I do all my own work from being turned down a few times from other shops.
Thx for watching bro, maybe you'll have better luck than me, but I'm glad to have learned it on my own. $$
@@urbangrizzly3709 f*ck i feel you. ive been getting turned away left and right at the shops down here, then i get the facebook group know-it-alls that dont help me any. be safe and ill catch you out in LA one day
You mind putting a updated link for the bac
My stock hydraulic S2 brakes squeak… lol. I’m still tempted to get a Z1 and mod it out. I originally ordered an Astro Orange Z1 but they had a long wait for batteries at the time
Almost bought the Z1, then the ZX dropped.
link for the hydraulic brakes please? have to pull all the way on mine now and even that still doesn’t slow it down quick enough. we’re the brakes easy to install?
Just added the link👍🏾. Easy 30 minute install.
I love your bike! Which BBSHD bottom bracket size did you order.....100mm or 120mm?
The bottom bracket size of the ZX is 120mm
Would the bbshd middrive kit work with the battery from chibattery systems if anyone knows?
Bruh, I ride in the La Habra / Anaheim area. I used to commute 120 miles a day on my KTM Duke 890. I've had 2 other motorcycles before that, a Yamaha V-Star 1100 custom and a Ninja ZX6R. I totally get what you mean by "different kind of fun"! Looking to do a mid-drive setup on my ZX thanks to your vids. Any words of advice?
Make sure when buying the mid drive you get the right size for the bottom bracket [120mm].
I was told by Luna rep thjat the controller is built into the BBSDH mid drive. Cause I notice you have a separate controller.
Yeah, the Luna V2 controller is built right on, can't tell its even there. Couldn't get my hands on one tho, they don't sell it separately, you have to buy one of their bikes equipped with it.
did you have to mod the frame to fit the motor?
Hey, man, little bit of help.I have a stock Super73 zx. I was thinking about throwing on a 750w m 1:18 id drive, but I did keep everything else.
Stock, is that good or bad?
Should make a video on how to add and setup the 2nd battery
hi Grizz i got a question. You said you attached the chain from the original hub motor to the BBSHD motor. So does that mean you have to be peddling while pushing the throttle of the bbshd motor, or does the BBSHD motor still push your bike without peddling. hope you understand what im trying to say. Im a noob at this stuff
With this setup you can use throttle or peddle assist.
@@urbangrizzly3709 ah okay dope thanks griz
Very slippery, the tires are really for the streets. Awesome tires. But the seat? I’m talking about the fake leather material. It’s cheap. I re done it with an old leather jackets leather. It’s brown now, but try it out it’s really easy to change the outer stuff of the seat. Sorry for the broken English. Greets from Germany Germany. A agree with most of what you said. 💪
Dat's a bad ass ebike' kick's my M1 pro even wit mods extra's luv UK London 💯👍..
Sup big bro. What size chain did you get ? Compiling a parts list right now.
Would you recommend a controller upgrade for the OEM hub motor?
PS- used to work at centinela Hospital in their ER as a tech! haha. back in 2010-2014. A lot of people have opinions about the place but it was the best experience I got in patient care.
I used a 120 link chain and removed a few links to make it fit. There’s a controller upgrade for the stock motor but haven’t tried it…yet.
@@urbangrizzly3709 thank you! Did the controller you’re using for the BBSHD come with the kit ?
@@GasBrakeSimI bought that controller aftermarket, BAC855
Can you send exactly how you did the extra motor ? I’m looking to do the same to mine and it’s not the easiest thing I can find.
Which bike?
I have a lectric st can I run a mid drive on it along with the 500watt rear hub? Thank you for your support
I've seen it done on the XP, not sure on the ST though.
@@urbangrizzly3709 o ok 👍 was wanting to do the same setup as you did 2 thumb throttles nice setup you got
what is the led screen?
Hey what up have you ever ride the fido m1 or fido m1 pro what do you think of those e bikes .
I haven't ridden one of those yet, had my eye on the fiido Q1s.
What’s up bro. I have a ZX as well and just ordered the same brakes. Was there anything you had to do to make the stock system work? Since the new brakes don’t have the cutoff wires? Or does it just work when disconnected l
Works fine without the brake cutoff wires connected, no faults or anything. 👍🏾
@@urbangrizzly3709 that’s the reply I was hoping for, thanks brotha
Dope vid! love your motorcycle response. Noob question, but what size bracket did you get for the mid drive?
120mm bracket gets the job done right.
@@urbangrizzly3709 10-4 thanks. Do you know if there is a way to connect the two motors so that you would only have 1 throttle?
@@kill3rbadger maybe if they were the same voltage, but I'm running 52v on the mid.
@@urbangrizzly3709 I pulled the trigger on this and setting it up now on my ZX. What size chain did you get? Thanks again bro!!
@@kill3rbadger i used a 122 link zonkie chain from Amazon. Had to remove a couple links to make it fit. There may be a easier way, that's just how I did mines 👍🏾.
Can you add a link to the motor?
Do you need a new controller to use the mid drive you installed? Or can you use the stock controller on the ZX?
The mid drive comes with a controller buit on, can't tell its there. I bought an aftermarket controller for higher specs.
If you're using it as a dual motor setup, the stock setup is all you'll need. Plenty of power.
Do you know if those tires would fit on the lectric 2.0?
Doubt it, these are 20x4.5
You should have done a flat ground test
nice! what size bbshd bottom bracket did you get for your zx?
120mm
@@urbangrizzly3709 thanks brotha! i'm working on my zx as well. gonna upgrade with your exact build except i'm gonna try using a twist throttle for the hub and the thumb throttle for the mid drive. Awesome video! thanks again!
@@tkdsteve no problem, it’s a pretty sweet setup 👍🏾
Very cool, what’s the total mod price on this bike? Just bought mine and may want to mod soon.
You're looking at another $1100-1400 depending on where you source your parts.
@@urbangrizzly3709 awesome, thanks for the quick reply 🙌🏼
Did you opt for the aluminum or steel chainring?
My kit came with the steel one.
Hey you're living in South L.A.. how in the hell do you keep that thing from being stolen?
Alarm, chain, GPS tracker and I'm never too far from it for too long.
"If you live in the LA area you know how these drivers get down out here. It's cut throat"
Fucking truth man. Almost taken out on my ZX the other day.. 30mph street with folks doing 60+. Looking at upgrades now 🤣
I like this guy!!! Say it exactly how it is! I wanna buy another zx again lol
Keep up the good content my guy!
And this setup is a game changer for the ZX💪🏾
hey man can you do a tutorial on how to install a second battery?
My second battery powers the mid drive separately. If you want dual batteries on the stock motor you'll need a splitter and a battery of the same voltage.
So the 2nd battery is controlled by your asi controller and powers the bbshd . And the stock battery and controller controls the original hub? Does that sound right? Im a noob too
my zx battery doesnt start up right away, not sure whats going on
My display takes a few seconds to turn on after start up, sometimes it doesn't come on at all but the bike still has power. Not sure what that's about.
@@urbangrizzly3709 yea its super annoying
What kind of chargers do you have and do you have more then one?
2 different chargers, one supplied with each battery.
@@urbangrizzly3709 so no fast chargers then
Hi how many tooth is that mid drive? Thx
46t, not sure on the rear.
I live in new york and when mine arrived it says class 2 with a max of 20mph, i was so bummed out. I just want it to reach 35mph any suggestions?
You can unlock the bike in the super73 app and it'll go 26mph, if you want to go faster than that you'll have to upgrade the controller or add another motor. I suggest joining ebike mod groups on Facebook, they got the cheat codes.
@@urbangrizzly3709 yeah ill definitely mod it later on so i think unlocking it is the best bet right now, how do you unlock it on the app?
@@JohnjOcampo In the app set it to unlimited mode.
@@urbangrizzly3709 unfortunately it wont let me do to it since its illegal in new york, i only have acces to mode 2.
I guess mods it is lol.
@@urbangrizzly3709 sorry to bother you again. I chose the 48T chainring from luna cycles, will the zonkie chain still fit or does it have to be a specific amount of chain links?
What mirrors are that?
Hafny bar end mirror from Amazon
I am deciding between zx or s2
S2 is a little faster but really depends on what style you like for the price.
air you spent all this money modding out the zx, why not just get the s2?
S2 is not my style.
ZX has a better looking frame + more comfortable seat.
Can you mention the controller in writing and other better battery options also
The controller is the bac855. I hear Chi battery systems has good products, haven't tried them for myself though.
@@urbangrizzly3709 thanks 🙏!
And isn’t the bafang motor already have A integrated controller? Or did you disabled the integrated one?
@@Andy-zr4mi yeah I disabled the stock integrated controller.
@@urbangrizzly3709 sorry for all the questions but one last thing how do you disable the integrated controller?
Just bought the hyper scrambler 2 with one battery ....3,184.99 . thats with tax. I do not feel for this king of money we get what we pay for. That price 2 batteries should be included . debating on returning it .Can get a BUZZRAW Fram and drop a CYC motor with 285nm of torque for 2500 and still have enough for a giant battery .
The Buzzraw X 🤤
How much were your mods?
Depending on where you source your parts add another $1100-1400.
You in the valley bro?
LA area.
What's the range your getting on average?
Depending on how I ride, 40 to 70 miles
why two throttles
2 separate motors running.
Spuer 73 is nothing without High speed
Can you please update the links
When D-Bone gives an E Bike Review 🍖
Problem is people read 35 to 50 miles and are like ok thats great even thinking about pedaling a little to help battery life....then you get it and it goes maybe 28 miles ...thats 7 less than expected...its annoying because really the s2 will go 35 miles and this will go like 28....why can't they just say it lol because alot of people would have probably upgraded...extremely fun bike though I love mine just need some upgrades
