Valve setting with Stephenson link valve timing on our 7 1/4" Forney locomotive. This setting information is the same for all Stephenson link valve gear.
Hi, on my LBSC Rainhill it seems to jam up and you can’t push it along smoothly. I’ve tried getting the valve right but it still seems to jam. Any help?
Hi there, sorry i think you might be missing the point, set each cylinder individually. because the wheels are quartered the process is the same for both sides, do what the clip says on each side and your valves will be set. there is no clip for the other side, set both cylinder independently from each other, do one side/cylinder at a time!
I will watch again as this applies to other locos with Stephenson link valve gear.
Thank you. That is all wonderfully clear.
Can you please do a video on a 1 inch traction engine?

could i apply this idea to a twin cylinder traction engine??it goes forward but not in reverse
+chubby7570 yes you are correct, if it is Stephenson's valve gear then the principal is the same and should time the same!
