My worst nightmare is literally something like this but the thing is, I live right next to one of the sirens which is a 2001-SRN third generation. Can’t imagine my town activating the sirens at 1:40 AM for a tornado warning as that is when I am deep asleep…would be even worse if it’s with my window opened as then I would get blasted awake the second the 2001 winds up bc it is loud as shit whenever it faces my room with an open window and I’d prb see the creepy ass clouds approaching whenever lightning flashes. Would be 10x more scarier if there is actually a funnel cloud too
We get the watchs warnings in Milwaukee County but hardly get tornados only heard we had 3 in sa life time in West Allis Wisconsin but the only one I recall was summer of 1975 but hit 14 blocks away but went past the home I grew up in ! We do get severe thunderstorm warnings thogh and some severe thunderstorms here in West Allis where I live !
I grew up in the 70s with a Thunderbolt 1000T in the neighborhood. Modern tornado sirens sound farcical in comparison. They don't inspire the same fear trigger that the ungodly howl of those old Thunderbolts did. Not even close.
I like this video and the siren sound. Those were scary looking clouds. Down in Texas, the prime time for tornado and storms is April and May. It must be July and August for states like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio. By the way, did a tornado get close to your location? If not, how far away was the nearest tornado?
Well this storm had potential to be a derecho. But it was just a severe thunderstorm the swept threw Wisconsin. There was a tornado that was on the ground up north in Wisconsin but most of the warnings put on it were radar indicated. Are sirens are really cool sounding but I love the sirens down in Texas.
Wade - Texas is subject to much of the same geography ingredients and whacko climate as Illinois / the majority of the Midwest is. Here in Chicago our winters can be SUPER mild or SUPER cold depending on the jet stream behavior and El Niño / La Niña conditions out west. Sometime our winters are so warm and lack of snowy that we've had BIG time severe weather outbreaks as early as mid February and as late as mid December. In Chicago, contrary to what most people will tell you, we only really have two true actual "climactic" owner months - January and February, and February is the second fastest warming month while December - in the second half of the month is the one of the fastest cooling months as it starts out in the 40s and sometimes 50s. On terms of weather February and December are fairly equal with January bringing the coldest conditions of the year - and consequently allows for the least favorable conditions for thunderstorms and tornado genesis. BUT, do not be fooled, even here in the "midlands / southern midlands" we can get tornadoes ANY month of the year. For Chicago, prime tornado season is April through June, but standard deviation is like late February through early October. Up here we kinda have a secondary tornado season in August and September at the tail end of summer as temps begin to slowly start to ramp back down. As with y'all, our real peak months are May and June. Our state has one of the most active storm tracks too, as we average about 60 *reported* tornadoc storms a year with a likely 30-60 percent margin of error meaning the actual number of tornadic storms is likely 2-3x higher than that. Just lots of open empty space outside of Chicago and with nobody looking nobody's gonna report the storm. And chasers don't typically associate Illinois with tornadoes or with photogenic tornado storms. Probably has something to do with them thinking that the whole state is one big suburb or something or just not paying attention to anything outside of the traditional boundaries of "tornado alley." Tell you what though, Iive in the Chicagoland metropolitan region and have lived through no less than 6 confrmed tornadoes. Luckily I've never had any property damage, but still, I have come across SO many people who harbor the very dangerous notion that "Illinois doesn't get tornadoes why would I worry?" Like my guy, we *do* get tornadoes and you *should* be prepared. There a reason the city of Chicago posts FEMAnand NOAA sponsored severe weather emergency preparedness ads ALL over the city before severe weather season starts and the fact that the Tristate Tornado ripped through our state and killed hundreds of people should be good enough evidence to that point. But people forget if they are not reminded of the history. Even just 32 years ago a Chicago suburbs was hit with an EF5 storm and about 30 people lost their lives. I haven't heard anybody talk about it in maybe 15-20 years. Such forgetfulness and complacency is dangerous and tempts fate. Just last year another local suburb took a direct hit with an (EF2?) So hopefully that will remain fresh within our cultural zetigeist for now and keep us on our toes. Those who forget repeat history.
The storm was tornado warned. If I remember the warning was radar indicated rotation so there could’ve been a tornado with the storm but it also had history on spawning tornadoes. This storm was a Potential Derecho and its been going on since the Evening hours.
@@wisconsinandillinoisrailfa8428 I was jus wondering I understand what your saying must have had enuff reason to have ran sirens.we get them alll the time here in north east tennesee an in my life I was born in 78 we've had 2 maybe 3 we had a f1 in bristol the town I live in in 79 an we had a f4 in glade springs Virginia in 20q4 which is about 20 miles away an I'm shure we had one in 98 I saw it it destroyed a barn but they said they didn't have enuff proof well I saw it with my own two eyes hit that barn but they think they no it all so it don't matter
@@brianbooher7318 yea we don’t usually get warnings like these in Wisconsin but this year we had a lot. It was a pretty active year for the state. We even got a few this winter witch i unusual.
Love the sound of the Tornado Warning Sirens going off during the storm with lightning and thunder here for the tornado warning here. Great video.
i thought i was the only one who loved hearing tornado sirens 😮

One summer weekend in Rockford, IL we were under a tornado watch for the better part of three days and had a half dozen warnings.
We get the watchs warnings in Milwaukee County but hardly get tornados only heard we had 3 in sa life time in West Allis Wisconsin but the only one I recall was summer of 1975 but hit 14 blocks away but went past the home I grew up in ! Looks scary that late at night but cool ambience of a Federal Signal 2001 and a ASC T-128.
Man us dudes who like railfanning also do be into storms and tornadoes and such too. I wonder what draws us to two such wildly different things.
That's so true!

I loved thunderbolts I remember Belvedere Illinois used to have some.
Lucky caise I live there on riverside but you see I'm at Lake Koshkonong right now so that sucks lol

Well to repeat my other comment. Wisconsin did have a tornados the other day with one tornado being a large and dangerous one.

Are getting two types of sirens wow I am so sad 😭 the siren it's going off is there a tornado warning playing with my mom
Those sirens are no way loud enough for the area that would not wake you up. They need to put one nearer
Oh no they are loud that T128 is a mile from me
I’m so scared of tornadoes! Be safe!
I don’t blame you bro tornadoes especially at the time this was filmed are still dangerous.
How common is this in Wisconsin?
It’s common but its rare for it to happen at 1AM
Awesome 👍👍
How long is the siren how long does Santa goes off to Sonic goes off like in 10 minutes
The sirens sound for 3-5 minutes.

Every time we get a warning, the sirens never go off, because where we live is right next to a county bounsry
I think I heard a T-128 and a Federal Signal 2001
