With his money IRL, I reckon he could just pay for the gear he uses, while we grind our asses off for bases, runes, and other useful shit.

that synergy patch was a gamechanger making so many different builds viable. i remember summon necro was the worst build in the game until that patch hit and it had suddenly become one of the best builds.
For those grumbling about the cost of this build. The problem is folks having grief and fortitude fever for every melee build and this is perpetuated by every streamer and youtuber out there. Are they good? Sure, not debating that, but are they necessary for a tesladin to function excellently in any way? Nope. That's 2 unnecessary Lo runes. Max dmg life charms are likewise unnecessary, you don't need the dmg nor the ar, many forget that max conv reduces target def by 90%. ~5-6k ar on a lvl 90+ toon gives u about >80% chance to hit ubers, your final cth is not reflected in the stat screen. So just skip the stupidly overpriced 3/20/20 small charm nonsense and go with plain large or grand vita charms which cost a fraction of what small vita charms cost. What you are left with is a build that tops any melee build(by a large margin, both in boss kill speed and clear speed, less smite for boss killing obviously), with the ability to mindlessly solo ubers(you don't even need a cta if u kill them individually, or u can just tank and kill all 3 if u do have a cta). All that for effectively 2 jah's and change, I.e. less than an enigma, which is yet another item what half the world uses in virtually every build. Don't get me wrong, 2 jah's aren't cheap, this isn't a starter friendly build, but the point is tesladin's needn't be nearly as expensive as many guides make them out to be. As someone who mains a zealer(regular phys until I could afford just 1 then eventually 2 dreams) I'd pick this any day over any other pally build, even enigma hammers. With max conv there are literally 2-3 mobs in the entire game that are remotely immune to you and that can be easily(and cheaply) solved. Here are my gear recommendations for a more budget friendly version. Weapon: Azurewrath, shael'd or 15ias jewel(nothing will be immune to you), the 250-500 cold dmg is also buffed by conv, don't sniff at it. Crescent Moon works well too for obvious reason, or any runeword that gives cb/open wounds that is socketable in a sword(u want a pb for an easy 72ias 5.2 breakpoint). My choice for ubers and boss killing is kingslayer for cb/ow but really any of the budget cb runewords work. I personally use botd, it's half the price of a grief atm, brings 60ias and dual leech. Gloves/boots: any gloves work, 20ias res rares, chancies for mf/gf etc. I prefer dracs for general safety/utility and gob toe's for cb. No I haven't had any issues with confuse conflicting with life tap. Also, LoH is unnecessary cos dmg to demons doesn't affect lightning dmg(I.e. majority of your dmg if u don't use grief) the 20ias/50fr is nice tho. Belt: nos coil or gold wrap if u need the IAS, tgods/dungos/string if u don't Armor: any 4os armor with 4 cheap light facets, I personally prefer -3/+5 facets cos they cost a pul-um each and u don't need the -res. +light dmg applies twice(double dips) to holy shock's melee portion, giving u 40% more lightning dmg(adds 10k lightning dmg per hit vs 7k without facets). Any cheap +15 light ormus works too. Alternatively, 3os Nat's or black hades works too. If you need the IAS, just substitute 1 or 2 facets for IAS jewels as required. Treach works fine too but u rarely need that much IAS. Wealth or skulders for mf/gf. Duress if u don't have a cb/ow weapon.
A couple tweaks to this gives you another damage type. I was Ares on your Sinbear stream. I was using Dream Helm, Dream Shield, Dragon Armor, Hand of Justice Weapon, Highlords, Dracs, Thundergods, Bul-Kathos Wedding Band, Ravenfrost, and Gore Riders. Max Zeal, level 25 conviction, Max Resist Fire, max Resist Light, Max Salvation, and you can decide between Sac and Holy Shield for remaining points. That gives you a level 30 Holy Fire Aura, level 30 Holy Shock Aura, and level 25 Conviction Aura pulsing. Trash mobs typically die in 1-2 pulses in 8-Player Hell. For Ubers, if you want to kill them a little faster, you can swap out Hand of Justice for Grief or Last Wish (or, if you want to go for even more leech, EBOTD). And before people start screaming - yes, this is a ridiculously expensive build, but that doesn't make it any less fun! This is my favorite build in the game (made it for the first time ~15 years ago). The only thing it lacks is teleport, but when everything falls over around you, walking isn't so bad.

For budget version, you could use crescent moon in a phase blade and no dreams (cos budget). However, you will need to put skill point into holy shock and use the aura, with no conviction. This means you will run into issues with lightning immune.
I think for most elemental damage builds like this a budget version just means lightning resistances are mostly something you avoid/use merc or something. Tesladin isnt a physical damage build so you really have to widdle the resisted down over time.
I'm a lvl 55 Tesladin and I'm rocking a Spirit Long sword, Ryme shield, Lore helm, and Vidala's boots. Currently I'm looking for better gauntlets and belt and my jewelry could be improved.
One of my all-time favourite characters. Back in the day, like almost 10-15 years ago, I even ventured a written guide (Yes that was a thing back then) that you can still find around the internet (Wurmer Tesladin guide). I never had godly gear like Mr. Lama is sporting here but I was doing pretty good nevertheless. Even with less than optimal gear you can still deal a tone of damage.

If you swap out the Grief for a LW it solves your lifetap issues without sacrificing IAS on the gloves slot, plus you can run a Faith act 1 merc and still have a lvl 17 might!

I didn't see anyone mention it yet, but I ran a build similar to this. To override mephisto's conviction you have to have yours enabled before you see him. In this video you had your holy shield on. 16:46 for reference.
Ran this build for a while on my pally, fun but I feel like the holy shock does more damage when I wear dual dream on my sorc, the lightning mastery bonus damage is huge and it’s fun having a passive whole screen damage tick while running around as sorc
It does more damage on your sorc because of lightning mastery. After I get infinity I'm looking to make dream twice for my enchantress. Not the best but I always wanted a sweet enchant build.
My favorite has always been dual dream hoj dragon for 30+ shock and fire. Then speccing into holy freeze, using vengeance Can still get enough + to skills for a point in zeal for the 5 hit swing. Damage comes from all the elements + merc infinity
This is my favorite build, i went 2 dreams, dragon on chest, Lawbringer weapon, laying of hands, infernostride, and thundergods. Raven frost, wisp and highlords. Super fun!!! 95 fire resist and 95 lightning resist with absorb. Its really amazing to just stand there and things die. Having a blast with d2r, have a good one llama
This build has a glitch with the holy shock turning on and off. It isn't just a visual bug either. Watch the character page and the damage output will drop every time it cycles on and off. This has been reported since beta but Blizzard has not addressed the bug. I would highly recommend staying away from this build until the bug is fixed. I wasted 2 Jah's on it.
I made a 399/31 grief , i was 1 point under. Yes hitting the breakpoint Makes a big diffrence in the zeal attack speed. I swapped for a nosferatu belt. Problem solved
I just made one of these with a Crescent Moon phase blade since I found an Um rune. Pretty fun build, finished hell with him fairly easily. Pretty standard teamed in build but I opted to have a single point in fanaticism for lightning immunes.
if you're so focused on phys dmg, then you can use pride as your merc's polearm. with grief you'll need only 1 % manaleech from any source to compensate the minimal mana cost of zeal.
I play SP and I prefer Dracs to LoH. Dracs allow me to go all out at players 8 right in the middle of Lister's merry group and actually survive that. In this case, Faith girl makes more sense for me esp. since they announced potential buffs to act 1/3/5 mercenaries :)
@MrLlamaSC there is something more fun and more expensive than Tesladin. Dream helmet/shield, Dragon armor and Hand of Justice as weapon. Everything just dies as u walk around.
@@IKolpikov i made that sorc like 15+ years ago. As i remember had more dmg because of masteries but had resistance problems due to pala shield difference and way less hp. Also you have to get conviction aura from merc which is lower lvl than uber mephi and if merc dies on ubers dmg drops drastically. Also sometimes on uber mephi u are one shot from him out of nowhere. uber mephi: Level 20 Conviction applies Resist -125% and -90% Defense within a 13 1/3 yard radius. Level 20 Conviction before coming within radius (although uber Mephisto's Conviction will still apply to all other players, hirelings and pets within radius).
Great video. I'm still struggling to get my fortitude and grief so obtaining a dream shield and helm is totally unattainable for me. I will go back to checking out budget builds and cry in the corner... :-D
LLama, quick question. I see all these builds with gear that has max or close to it sockets, since Larzic only gives you one from his quest, how does one go about getting weapon, helm, body, and shield for both himself and his merc? I know it’s a year old vid, but we still watch. Keep up the good work.
Cows are my typical go-to, but you can find some decent socketed items from The Pit, Meph, and Chaos Sanctuary. I've also had some pretty decent, but inconsistent socket drops in Abaddon.
If anyone wants to run tesladin without all this expensive setup, it's still very viable if you max holy shock and all of its synergies and put the rest into zeal, then you can run G face until you get griffons, HoZ/Spirit and Crescent moon as primary weapon. Keep this setup and you will nuke everything comfortably and do enough physical damage on lightning immunes with a phase blade crescent moon. Get infinity on a merc later. This setup is good and frees up helmet and shield slots.
my favorite build! I mortgaged some items from some other builds to get my dual dream. Still don't have a grief or fort but using a lightsaber and nothing comes close to killing me anywhere even at level 66

Why max zeal instead of sacrifice? You have -90 defense with conviction and Ignore Target Defense with Grief. You can optimize this build by maxing damage via sacrifice and forgo AR via zeal. More damage on average gameplay, and use 1 point smite for Ubers.
my thoughts exactly. Alot of folks forget that conv has a -def portion too it, 90% at lvl 20, that pretty much takes care of any AR issues one would have without needing added AR or ITD. @sean rundell ITD doesnt work on champions/uniques/bosses/ubers btw.
Thanks for showing this build. I was working towards eventually making this but I don't have time for D2 anymore, had to give my account away. This is by far the coolest build in all of D2. While you get good movement speed with charge, I thought you would have gone with Enigma so that you could get more HP from putting less STR to gear up. With this build you could literally put on a 15ED superior dusk shroud enigma and it would take care of all of your STR req. Does the fortitude's insane defense pay off more? You get hit less, but proc the confusion less.
Unless this was just fixed very recently, doing this on an online char there's a bug currently where auras from items worn on your character keep flashing on and off .. not just an audio/visual bug, the actual aura keeps going on and off.. makes worn aura based builds useless. Items put on mercs are fine, but worn on your character are bugged.
it's not useless lol it switches off and on within like less than a second. this build still wrecks anything in the game solo without merc even with the bug
@@wonderthigh for me often worn auras are only up half the time, making them pretty garbage .. perhaps it has something to do with lag or other buffs on your character .. I have no idea .. wish this bug would get fixed, or at least acknowledged
I have found while playing players 8 crescent moon sword is better than grief on a tesladin... Absolutely disgusting dmg and it kills players 8 dclone 3 times faster with 0 chance of dying if are wearing draculs gloves
Ahh the build which is my long term goal. So far I'm missing all of the pricey runewords, but if I liquidated bunch of pricey items I own I would be able to buy one Jah. It might take me whole year to complete it I think as I do not play Diablo as much anymore.
I used to swap from grief + loh to beast caduceus and dracs for bosses and ubers. Absolutely untouchable and come on, at some point it is just about stacking auras

You know what's even more expensive AND effective than this build? Doing it on a sorceress, but also including a Hand of Justice phase blade and some Dragon archon plate. Maxing out lightning mastery and fire mastery will increase the damage of the holy shock and holy fire auras even more than the paladin's synergies! Then you can max out telekinesis, enchant, and warmth for even more fire damage, and to make a decent energy shield so you will stay alive.
@@atanasangeliev I used a phase blade for the runeword Hand of Justice, because it's the fastest single handed weapon in the game I think. This runeword gives you 33% IAS.
Thanks for the guide. I've built my pal exactly like this and still I'm getting oneshoted by uber Baal for some reason. I can tank Diablo and Meph endlessly, but Baal is just BAM - you dead. Don't know what's the issue. The gear is same, the skills are same.
What do you all think of this tesladin setup? Self use Holy Shock Griffon; shield with 4 5/5 facets; Beast RW on a Caduceus with +3 holy shock, +3 zeal Infinity on merc It seems that holy shock will do a lot more damage, for attacking and also pulse damage (it will be level 40+).
So if u put points directly into holy shock it would not higher the actual level of the aura, but putting them into salvation does give the synergy bonuses?
Yes. Synergies work and most importantly you can run full +-skilled conviction and not have to put any points into holy shock (which aren't cumulative with the double-dream holy shock).
I run this exact same build. I use Enigma now instead of Fort as i wasn't sure the ED was being applied or a big enough impact. Having a teleport is nice. I only struggle with 2 types of spawn... the bone exploder dolls (bone fetish) I call them and Lord De Seis. However you can kite them and the holy shock will kill them.
i personally use azurewrath for everything but ubers, sanc aura knockback works wonders against bone fetish's and lord de seis and ull have 0 issues with the small handful of light immunes u cant break cos of the added cold/magic dmg.
@@dreem1776 Well it cant be as simple as that, because most of the damage is lightning and % ED does not scale with that. How much overall dmg is lost depends on what is the actual physical portion of the damage compared to the lightning.

All I’m saying is fort is best in slot but it’s overkill for literally all content other than Ubers in my experience with the tesladin. I main a dreamdin every ladder if I get the drops in that season. Just my 2 cents.

I have 70 hammerdin. He hits hard af, but the way you have to aim your character to hit targets with those hammers is pain in the ass. So I was looking for another build, this will do I guess, thanks Lama.
Few gigs from finishing the download on d2r. Gonna hop on single player and make a vengeance pally for fun. Gonna be a long term build but will be satisfying.
Back in the day for fun since things where cheap. I did foh instead of zeal so casting instead of melee. For meme and it was fun. But I wish they would give foh a buff in d2r. Like pd2 did.
The problem with relaying on conviction to score hits on ubers is that it works additively with the frozen armor. So you have like -97% def but Baal and Izual can cast an armor for ~+250% + they also have a chance to block, so you end up really struggling against them (baal esp.). Smite really is tailor made for killing ubers.
Most pally builds have 1 point in smite. I run tesladin with 1 point in smite just for ubers and it clears just as fast, if not faster than specialized smiter. Guessing a hammerdin with 1 smite can do similar. Just get dracs and gore riders and smite away.
On the other hand uber meph almost needs you to use conviction at high level to cancel his. He convicts you. But no mater what pally build, one point in smite does the trick for the rest depending on gear.
I feel like my setup doesn’t pulse as often. I had to watch this again because my Pali just doesn’t feel as good as this looks and I have the same setup. Ugh
VS the expense of a tesladin, a regular smiter with grief/upedhoz/dracks/gore/raven-BK/gface/highlords/verdungos kills so much faster in my honest opinion. This is my current setup on bnet d2R for my uber killer.
of course a smiter is better. it's the best build in the game without considering the new ias changes of the game. this build is showcasing how it can handle any content in the game against any mob including ubers. this build can handle multiple mobs at once which the smiter can't do. the kills per second is higher with the tesladin
@@jaredhannah6259 Yeah, what's even more wild is that the Holy Shock gets buffed from the synergies you put points into (Resist Lightning and Salvation) which is why the build maxes out those skills.
I wonder why not use the Tesla skill on yourself, at level 20 +skillers, so that it takes advantage of the sinergies? It would be like a level 50+ (15x2 + 20 +skillers) Of course that would require Infinity on merc, but, if we are doing a lightning damage build, why not go full in?
mostly off topic, but I've got a rare jewel that I think may be worth something, but am unsure because frankly I spent the last 15 years playing singleplayer DII and I have no real notion of item value. anyways, the jewel has the following stats - +26% enhanced damage, replenish live +2, poison resist + 23% and 12% of damage taken goes to mana. Should I sell the dang thing to charsi? If it's worth something, um. .. what is it worth?
A version of this build I'd like to try as well is using either dual dragon + hand of justice for a lvl 46 holy fire aura. Or a dragon, hand of justice and a Phoenix shield for a lvl 30 holy fire aura and a lvl 15 redemption aura. Torn on which to build
I tried the auradin with dragon and hoj Youre just struggling a lot more with survivability, the kill speed is basically the same, you miss Enigma and u basically have no leech because the phys dmg is non existent. I prefer the pure tesladin but for cows auradin rocks u running around kiting everything to death in 3 seconds
@@Shadaaala yea you still have some physical dmg but no where near as much as a grief. And that was one reason I was thinking about swapping out one dragon for a Phoenix shield to pick up the redemption aura and grab some more enhanced dmg. I have a spare life tap wand and a few other decent leech rings to combo in for a bunch of leech.
@@davidfarris1332 might do. I have this build (tesladin) already, got super lucky with rune drops and some good trades, so I already have the dreams. But I really wanted to try mainly a fire one with pretty much the same set up. Bc conviction will break pretty much all fire immunes and i have a few sources of CB and deadly strike that I could work in to really help with the few that don't. I'm torn mainly between going full dmg, with dual dragon and hoj for like a lvl44 holy fire or picking up more survivability working in the Phoenix.

Yes that’s how I run this build and I toss a bramble on my merc for thorns aura, and Eth andys for poison nova proc also infinity for conviction and I run max famtasim .. I’m geared with 2x Dream Dragon armor and Hoj PB.. I use zeal for physical attacks and my damage currently spikes at 10k with a 4 bo cta, additionally I’m using Mara for extra res , raven frost, max damage ar ring with duel leech and quad res , t gods belt, gore riders, and lava gout gloves, torch , anni and 1 pcombs ... love it

Here are my gear recommendations for a more budget friendly version.
Weapon: Azurewrath, shael'd or 15ias jewel(nothing will be immune to you), the 250-500 cold dmg is also buffed by conv, don't sniff at it. Crescent Moon works well too for obvious reason, or any runeword that gives cb/open wounds that is socketable in a sword(u want a pb for an easy 72ias 5.2 breakpoint). My choice for ubers and boss killing is kingslayer for cb/ow but really any of the budget cb runewords work. I personally use botd, it's half the price of a grief atm, brings 60ias and dual leech.
Gloves/boots: any gloves work, 20ias res rares, chancies for mf/gf etc. I prefer dracs for general safety/utility and gob toe's for cb. No I haven't had any issues with confuse conflicting with life tap. Also, LoH is unnecessary cos dmg to demons doesn't affect lightning dmg(I.e. majority of your dmg if u don't use grief) the 20ias/50fr is nice tho.
Belt: nos coil or gold wrap if u need the IAS, tgods/dungos/string if u don't
Armor: any 4os armor with 4 cheap light facets, I personally prefer -3/+5 facets cos they cost a pul-um each and u don't need the -res. +light dmg applies twice(double dips) to holy shock's melee portion, giving u 40% more lightning dmg(adds 10k lightning dmg per hit vs 7k without facets). Any cheap +15 light ormus works too. Alternatively, 3os Nat's or black hades works too. If you need the IAS, just substitute 1 or 2 facets for IAS jewels as required. Treach works fine too but u rarely need that much IAS. Wealth or skulders for mf/gf. Duress if u don't have a cb/ow weapon.
To farm effectively, aim for enigma for the build, solo much faster. Sure charge is nice and all but nth beats teleport for speed

Fortitude isn't even that expensive, neither is Dream. People need to stop whining about the 'cost' of these builds and just play the damn game.

A couple tweaks to this gives you another damage type. I was Ares on your Sinbear stream. I was using Dream Helm, Dream Shield, Dragon Armor, Hand of Justice Weapon, Highlords, Dracs, Thundergods, Bul-Kathos Wedding Band, Ravenfrost, and Gore Riders. Max Zeal, level 25 conviction, Max Resist Fire, max Resist Light, Max Salvation, and you can decide between Sac and Holy Shield for remaining points. That gives you a level 30 Holy Fire Aura, level 30 Holy Shock Aura, and level 25 Conviction Aura pulsing. Trash mobs typically die in 1-2 pulses in 8-Player Hell. For Ubers, if you want to kill them a little faster, you can swap out Hand of Justice for Grief or Last Wish (or, if you want to go for even more leech, EBOTD). And before people start screaming - yes, this is a ridiculously expensive build, but that doesn't make it any less fun!
This is my favorite build in the game (made it for the first time ~15 years ago). The only thing it lacks is teleport, but when everything falls over around you, walking isn't so bad.
Ya I do same thing but with Holy Freeze 17k-21k damage.
I use a coa 5/5/4 warscepter with +3 holyshield to save from putting pts into holyshield

I would love to see a budget version of builds like this and maybe a progression plan to get to this.
For budget version, you could use crescent moon in a phase blade and no dreams (cos budget). However, you will need to put skill point into holy shock and use the aura, with no conviction. This means you will run into issues with lightning immune.
I think for most elemental damage builds like this a budget version just means lightning resistances are mostly something you avoid/use merc or something.
Tesladin isnt a physical damage build so you really have to widdle the resisted down over time.
I'm a lvl 55 Tesladin and I'm rocking a Spirit Long sword, Ryme shield, Lore helm, and Vidala's boots. Currently I'm looking for better gauntlets and belt and my jewelry could be improved.
I began as a Fire Paladin then when I started Nightmare I reseted.
There isn't a 'budget build' for this.
One of my all-time favourite characters. Back in the day, like almost 10-15 years ago, I even ventured a written guide (Yes that was a thing back then) that you can still find around the internet (Wurmer Tesladin guide). I never had godly gear like Mr. Lama is sporting here but I was doing pretty good nevertheless. Even with less than optimal gear you can still deal a tone of damage.

If you swap out the Grief for a LW it solves your lifetap issues without sacrificing IAS on the gloves slot, plus you can run a Faith act 1 merc and still have a lvl 17 might!
lol ya just swap this out for LW and throw a Faith at the build. Just 4 jah's and a ber. no biggie.

I didn't see anyone mention it yet, but I ran a build similar to this. To override mephisto's conviction you have to have yours enabled before you see him. In this video you had your holy shield on. 16:46 for reference.
Ran this build for a while on my pally, fun but I feel like the holy shock does more damage when I wear dual dream on my sorc, the lightning mastery bonus damage is huge and it’s fun having a passive whole screen damage tick while running around as sorc
Why do you need to run 2 dream? Why not just one? Do the +15 to aura actually stack?

It does more damage on your sorc because of lightning mastery. After I get infinity I'm looking to make dream twice for my enchantress. Not the best but I always wanted a sweet enchant build.
Try using teleport and spamming Nova... Everything around you dies.
My favorite has always been dual dream hoj dragon for 30+ shock and fire. Then speccing into holy freeze, using vengeance
Can still get enough + to skills for a point in zeal for the 5 hit swing. Damage comes from all the elements + merc infinity
Then get shit on with any form of physical damage because you have no Dr %. Also HOJ is a horrible weapon.

This is my favorite build, i went 2 dreams, dragon on chest, Lawbringer weapon, laying of hands, infernostride, and thundergods. Raven frost, wisp and highlords. Super fun!!! 95 fire resist and 95 lightning resist with absorb. Its really amazing to just stand there and things die. Having a blast with d2r, have a good one llama
Mercenary has eth cryptic axe obiendence, fortitude and andys
I also only put 1 in the combat skills and max resist fire and rest goes into cleansing to boost sanctuary and holy fire auras
Running this build myself, my only complaint is I wish there was a way to tell how much damage your auras are doing.
If you go to Maxrolls and do the d2r gear planner you can see the aura damage in there etc =)
I use an Azurewrath on mine. Sanctuary aura looks so cool and great attack speed.
This build has a glitch with the holy shock turning on and off. It isn't just a visual bug either. Watch the character page and the damage output will drop every time it cycles on and off. This has been reported since beta but Blizzard has not addressed the bug. I would highly recommend staying away from this build until the bug is fixed. I wasted 2 Jah's on it.

important to note with this setup with laying of hands gloves, the grief must be 32%+ aspd to hit the 72%ias breakpoint
I made a 399/31 grief , i was 1 point under. Yes hitting the breakpoint Makes a big diffrence in the zeal attack speed. I swapped for a nosferatu belt. Problem solved

I just made one of these with a Crescent Moon phase blade since I found an Um rune. Pretty fun build, finished hell with him fairly easily. Pretty standard teamed in build but I opted to have a single point in fanaticism for lightning immunes.
if you're so focused on phys dmg, then you can use pride as your merc's polearm. with grief you'll need only 1 % manaleech from any source to compensate the minimal mana cost of zeal.
i run a act2 merc with pride and might aura. my tesla slaps very very hard
I play SP and I prefer Dracs to LoH. Dracs allow me to go all out at players 8 right in the middle of Lister's merry group and actually survive that. In this case, Faith girl makes more sense for me esp. since they announced potential buffs to act 1/3/5 mercenaries :)
@MrLlamaSC there is something more fun and more expensive than Tesladin. Dream helmet/shield, Dragon armor and Hand of Justice as weapon. Everything just dies as u walk around.

@@IKolpikov i made that sorc like 15+ years ago. As i remember had more dmg because of masteries but had resistance problems due to pala shield difference and way less hp. Also you have to get conviction aura from merc which is lower lvl than uber mephi and if merc dies on ubers dmg drops drastically. Also sometimes on uber mephi u are one shot from him out of nowhere.
uber mephi: Level 20 Conviction applies Resist -125% and -90% Defense within a 13 1/3 yard radius. Level 20 Conviction before coming within radius (although uber Mephisto's Conviction will still apply to all other players, hirelings and pets within radius).

I'm still struggling to get my fortitude and grief so obtaining a dream shield and helm is totally unattainable for me.

LLama, quick question. I see all these builds with gear that has max or close to it sockets, since Larzic only gives you one from his quest, how does one go about getting weapon, helm, body, and shield for both himself and his merc? I know it’s a year old vid, but we still watch. Keep up the good work.
Cows are my typical go-to, but you can find some decent socketed items from The Pit, Meph, and Chaos Sanctuary.
I've also had some pretty decent, but inconsistent socket drops in Abaddon.

If anyone wants to run tesladin without all this expensive setup, it's still very viable if you max holy shock and all of its synergies and put the rest into zeal, then you can run G face until you get griffons, HoZ/Spirit and Crescent moon as primary weapon. Keep this setup and you will nuke everything comfortably and do enough physical damage on lightning immunes with a phase blade crescent moon. Get infinity on a merc later. This setup is good and frees up helmet and shield slots.

my favorite build! I mortgaged some items from some other builds to get my dual dream. Still don't have a grief or fort but using a lightsaber and nothing comes close to killing me anywhere even at level 66

Why max zeal instead of sacrifice? You have -90 defense with conviction and Ignore Target Defense with Grief. You can optimize this build by maxing damage via sacrifice and forgo AR via zeal. More damage on average gameplay, and use 1 point smite for Ubers.
I'd only max Zeal if you use a Hand of Justice (and Dragon armour) instead of Grief to get some Holy Fire in there as well.
Actually HoJ has Ignore Target Defense as well, so it could still work without max Zeal.
my thoughts exactly. Alot of folks forget that conv has a -def portion too it, 90% at lvl 20, that pretty much takes care of any AR issues one would have without needing added AR or ITD.

max zeal is complete bullshit. 5 hits rest goes in dmg synergy.
itd doesnt work on bosses, -%target defense only works with 50% effect on bosses. You need AR unless you are just killing trash

Thanks for showing this build. I was working towards eventually making this but I don't have time for D2 anymore, had to give my account away. This is by far the coolest build in all of D2. While you get good movement speed with charge, I thought you would have gone with Enigma so that you could get more HP from putting less STR to gear up. With this build you could literally put on a 15ED superior dusk shroud enigma and it would take care of all of your STR req. Does the fortitude's insane defense pay off more? You get hit less, but proc the confusion less.

Unless this was just fixed very recently, doing this on an online char there's a bug currently where auras from items worn on your character keep flashing on and off .. not just an audio/visual bug, the actual aura keeps going on and off.. makes worn aura based builds useless. Items put on mercs are fine, but worn on your character are bugged.
it's not useless lol it switches off and on within like less than a second. this build still wrecks anything in the game solo without merc even with the bug
@@wonderthigh for me often worn auras are only up half the time, making them pretty garbage .. perhaps it has something to do with lag or other buffs on your character .. I have no idea .. wish this bug would get fixed, or at least acknowledged
I have found while playing players 8 crescent moon sword is better than grief on a tesladin... Absolutely disgusting dmg and it kills players 8 dclone 3 times faster with 0 chance of dying if are wearing draculs gloves
Ahh the build which is my long term goal. So far I'm missing all of the pricey runewords, but if I liquidated bunch of pricey items I own I would be able to buy one Jah. It might take me whole year to complete it I think as I do not play Diablo as much anymore.
I used to swap from grief + loh to beast caduceus and dracs for bosses and ubers. Absolutely untouchable and come on, at some point it is just about stacking auras

Just built a Tesladin following this video. Have all the same gear except for the belt. I can solo hell at lvl 65 😂.
Started with Paladin, lvl 18 right now and I am already thinking to switch from Avenger build to Tesladin.
if you have a Dream runeword (shield or helm) the required level is 65. Everyone levels as Holy Fire and respecs once higher level.
You know what's even more expensive AND effective than this build? Doing it on a sorceress, but also including a Hand of Justice phase blade and some Dragon archon plate. Maxing out lightning mastery and fire mastery will increase the damage of the holy shock and holy fire auras even more than the paladin's synergies! Then you can max out telekinesis, enchant, and warmth for even more fire damage, and to make a decent energy shield so you will stay alive.
This sounds really cool and I would love to try it, but how to deal with the attack speed cause the damage won't matter if you hit once per sec
@@atanasangeliev I used a phase blade for the runeword Hand of Justice, because it's the fastest single handed weapon in the game I think. This runeword gives you 33% IAS.
And then Sigon gauntlets and Sigon belt for 30% IAS, and then I was able to get a Highlord's Wrath unique amulet for another 20% IAS.
Can I stack holy fire in 2 'dragons' and 1 'Hand of Justice' runewords?
If you are really rich, you can go "last wish" as weapon, "enigma" for armor, and an "infinity" for your merc. Just need some extra Jahs and Bers. :D
yeah it's how I prefer to run my tesladins :D infinity merc and fanaticism on pally, enigma for mobility.. I do still run the grief though!

I've built my pal exactly like this and still I'm getting oneshoted by uber Baal for some reason.
I can tank Diablo and Meph endlessly, but Baal is just BAM - you dead.
Don't know what's the issue.

Griffon; shield with 4 5/5 facets; Beast RW on a Caduceus with +3 holy shock, +3 zeal

It seems that holy shock will do a lot more damage, for attacking and also pulse damage (it will be level 40+).
So if u put points directly into holy shock it would not higher the actual level of the aura, but putting them into salvation does give the synergy bonuses?
Yes. Synergies work and most importantly you can run full +-skilled conviction and not have to put any points into holy shock (which aren't cumulative with the double-dream holy shock).
I run this exact same build. I use Enigma now instead of Fort as i wasn't sure the ED was being applied or a big enough impact. Having a teleport is nice. I only struggle with 2 types of spawn... the bone exploder dolls (bone fetish) I call them and Lord De Seis. However you can kite them and the holy shock will kill them.
i personally use azurewrath for everything but ubers, sanc aura knockback works wonders against bone fetish's and lord de seis and ull have 0 issues with the small handful of light immunes u cant break cos of the added cold/magic dmg.

How much of the damage is physical vs lighting? How much damage would you lose with enigma over fort?
300% damage loss. If you are doing Ubers you need fort. I run enigma for MF runs. You don’t need that extra damage on anything but Ubers.
@@dreem1776 Well it cant be as simple as that, because most of the damage is lightning and % ED does not scale with that. How much overall dmg is lost depends on what is the actual physical portion of the damage compared to the lightning.
@@alexchobanov you’re right it’s not that simple, but I’m not going to play the math out. All I’m saying is fort is best in slot but it’s overkill for literally all content other than Ubers in my experience with the tesladin. I main a dreamdin every ladder if I get the drops in that season.

I have 70 hammerdin. He hits hard af, but the way you have to aim your character to hit targets with those hammers is pain in the ass. So I was looking for another build, this will do I guess, thanks Lama.

Few gigs from finishing the download on d2r. Gonna hop on single player and make a vengeance pally for fun. Gonna be a long term build but will be satisfying.
Back in the day for fun since things where cheap. I did foh instead of zeal so casting instead of melee. For meme and it was fun. But I wish they would give foh a buff in d2r. Like pd2 did.

The problem with relaying on conviction to score hits on ubers is that it works additively with the frozen armor. So you have like -97% def but Baal and Izual can cast an armor for ~+250% + they also have a chance to block, so you end up really struggling against them (baal esp.). Smite really is tailor made for killing ubers.
Most pally builds have 1 point in smite. I run tesladin with 1 point in smite just for ubers and it clears just as fast, if not faster than specialized smiter. Guessing a hammerdin with 1 smite can do similar. Just get dracs and gore riders and smite away.
On the other hand uber meph almost needs you to use conviction at high level to cancel his. He convicts you. But no mater what pally build, one point in smite does the trick for the rest depending on gear.
Grief is OP, Lama how does hand of justice compare with the new buffed Holy fire? Dragon and that was always one of my "dream" builds haha

VS the expense of a tesladin, a regular smiter with grief/upedhoz/dracks/gore/raven-BK/gface/highlords/verdungos kills so much faster in my honest opinion. This is my current setup on bnet d2R for my uber killer.
of course a smiter is better. it's the best build in the game without considering the new ias changes of the game. this build is showcasing how it can handle any content in the game against any mob including ubers. this build can handle multiple mobs at once which the smiter can't do. the kills per second is higher with the tesladin
I wonder if you get Act 3 Merc and use dual holy fire/shock runewords it would kill everything instantly...

I wonder why not use the Tesla skill on yourself, at level 20 +skillers, so that it takes advantage of the sinergies? It would be like a level 50+ (15x2 + 20 +skillers)

Any lightning build I have a nightmare getting through act 3 in hell with, especially flayed jungle. Still haven’t beaten the game yet, maybe one day.

mostly off topic, but I've got a rare jewel that I think may be worth something, but am unsure because frankly I spent the last 15 years playing singleplayer DII and I have no real notion of item value. anyways, the jewel has the following stats - +26% enhanced damage, replenish live +2, poison resist + 23% and 12% of damage taken goes to mana.
Should I sell the dang thing to charsi? If it's worth something, um. .. what is it worth?
A version of this build I'd like to try as well is using either dual dragon + hand of justice for a lvl 46 holy fire aura. Or a dragon, hand of justice and a Phoenix shield for a lvl 30 holy fire aura and a lvl 15 redemption aura. Torn on which to build

I tried the auradin with dragon and hoj Youre just struggling a lot more with survivability, the kill speed is basically the same, you miss Enigma and u basically have no leech because the phys dmg is non existent. I prefer the pure tesladin but for cows auradin rocks u running around kiting everything to death in 3 seconds
@@Shadaaala yea you still have some physical dmg but no where near as much as a grief. And that was one reason I was thinking about swapping out one dragon for a Phoenix shield to pick up the redemption aura and grab some more enhanced dmg. I have a spare life tap wand and a few other decent leech rings to combo in for a bunch of leech.
@@davidfarris1332 might do. I have this build (tesladin) already, got super lucky with rune drops and some good trades, so I already have the dreams. But I really wanted to try mainly a fire one with pretty much the same set up. Bc conviction will break pretty much all fire immunes and i have a few sources of CB and deadly strike that I could work in to really help with the few that don't. I'm torn mainly between going full dmg, with dual dragon and hoj for like a lvl44 holy fire or picking up more survivability working in the Phoenix.
@@iownall2222 I don’t use grief, I went the last wish Route with a faith a1 merc, it’s obviously less physical but far more then enough leech and life tap, and Free magic find hehe. I just felt tankier with life tap and fade, and I don’t need to switch gear for ubers

Could you make a video with a Dual dragon/Dual dream paladin? I never saw any video on them and testing offline is pretty cool.
Could you give Dreamx2 to your merc? Use the act3 dude. Or could you stack 2 dreams yourself and 1 on the merc? Or would that be redundant?
It will not be more powerfull with an infinity and an holy choc aura from the paladin as well to stacks 3 aura ?

Yes that’s how I run this build and I toss a bramble on my merc for thorns aura, and Eth andys for poison nova proc also infinity for conviction and I run max famtasim .. I’m geared with 2x Dream Dragon armor and Hoj PB.. I use zeal for physical attacks and my damage currently spikes at 10k with a 4 bo cta, additionally I’m using Mara for extra res , raven frost, max damage ar ring with duel leech and quad res , t gods belt, gore riders, and lava gout gloves, torch , anni and 1 pcombs ... love it
