Interested to know your thoughts on the 1 versus the 3. I think the three is less... visually challenging but, how do they compare dynamically and practicality wise? The point that the pano roof doesn't have a blind is the kind if detail I find useful. Thanks!
Thank you for a proper right hand drive review of this car. Perhaps a coast to coast if you have time. This is a car which I am thinking about seriously and am still childish enough to be thinking about the Brabus. To my mind the only real alternatives at the moment come from the Mini range. The Volvo EX30 goes too far towards a pure iPad UI/UX but otherwise is a great design, just not for me. This Smart has about the right balance between touch screen, HUD, and real buttons and stalks for my taste. I just wish the main Mercedes brand achieved this balance, especially for the prices they ask. I think Smarts are something of a bargain at the moment.
The front seat(s) are a dealbreaker for me, no tilt or extend option. Its very uncomfortable for people with long legs (ID3 feels like a different class here)
It may be designed by Mercedes Benz but surely they must have flunked the design course. It looks like an old boot from the front. Alternatively it is your fault shooting the video with a silly super wide angle lens (surely not!) . It still looks like a discarded steel capped boot. The inside looks like a throwback to the ultra modern 1960s pop era where contrasts and ugly arks and rounded curves were everywhere. When you notice the designer’s work or they demand you notice the design by overdoing it then it is actually a mistake. You are right that the design is not to everyone’s taste.
One thing they could easily improve on is the UI. On that 9" driving info they could (should) make the speed etc larger and sacrifice the gimmicky animation. Simplifying the big screen so it's not form before function. I found just being in menu mode or even Android Auto better than the animation.
I have a smart #1 premium and check my speed mostly in the HUD, which is brilliant... I don't mind the 9" graphic display and really like it when driving as it displays what the car is seeing when driving (similar the Tesla, shows the road and vehicle around you)... love the #1!
€38k to €48k for what looks essentially like a Hyundai Kona and its only a 2-door !. I honestly don't know if there is a disconnect in EV manufacturers thinking. I think I'm coming to the conclusion that EVs are an excellent second car but not at these prices. Give me a Nissan Sakura for city driving, commuting and shopping runs.
I don't know what video your watching but it obviously is not this one. This a 5doir and tge same size as a VW ID3 but classier and quiet well priced fir what it offers. It deserves to be a huge success.

Test drove a Brabus today. Insanely quick. I think you're right about going for the Premium.
Thanks Simon
You didn’t mention the rear seats can slide forward for more boot space; a big advantage over the Volvo ex30.
I didn't! Apologies
Great video as usual 👍🏼
Appreciate that
I agree. The dash beats the volvo hands down. Nice car.
Thanks

Thanks Des!
Nice car.
I think so too!

No tilt! Really? How did I miss this
Look at the new #3, it has a longer wheelbase and so better legspace front and rear. I'm 6'7" (2m) and found it more comfortable in a test drive.
Classy car and the prices are not bad either. Deserves to be a huge succes for Smart.
I think so

@@sharonec5419 you’re quite right it is a 5 door but how could you possibly think €48k for the premium is good valve. Total madness
They need to stop doing the stupid bonnet pulls on evs
Agree
What's stupid about them? It's what people are used too. What would they do instead?
