I traded in my Mercedes EQA for the Smart #1 in June and I'm totally thrilled! Liebe Grüße von der Ostsee!
This is a great overview and gives more detail than other reviews.
Super, comprehensive review and info on this innovative approach by Smart, to the EV. Admire the slick editing, too. We'll done.
Great in depth review, Jack!
Very good car! Much better than VW ID's...and cheaper than Volvo, Polestar
And it can be equipped with a tow hook!
Excellent overview/review. Booked our test drive this weekend.
Nice review! I’ve sat in a LHD model and was pleasantly surprised, your right it’s got a bit of character which is refreshing to see.
Looks like a really nice car
Great car 😃
Excellent review. Straight to the point, full of info. Impressive.
Thanks David really appreciate the comment👍
This is probably the best smart car to date
A better choice than the Volvo Ex30 because the back seats slide to give you more boot space.
I’ll take the Volvo every day of the week. I was in the Volvo in December and looks an impressive package and well just looks better than this. Not to mention this is software locked and well the performance version is slower then the basic EX30. The infotainment system n the Smart is clunky and well from reviews pedestrian to react and some even saying woeful. The Volvo uses Polestars tried and tested and much improved system. One you just about live with (Smart) the other you can appreciate just how good it is. Also they think residuals are going to absolutely take a hammering with the Smart 1 good news if your wanting a low £20k EV after it’s first year, not great if you have bought split new.
Looks good, is it coming to the motability scheme?
Not sure with this one.
The Pro+ is now on the scheme but we really need the premium as it has the heat pump for cold weather and faster charging
@@markknight6267 I'm hoping the Premium is coming next price change. As they added the Pro and then three months later the Pro+.
The base model is very well equipped as standard but the Premium has some very worthwhile upgrades like the heat pump you mentioned, more range, heads-up display, 13 speaker Beats Audio system and matrix headlights. I'm hoping the #3 is coming as that's only a little more to purchase outright so I'm hopeful.
Drove one recently and the road sign recognition doesn’t work.
Has this put you off completely?
@@ISITWORTHITUK More than likely. It will probably be fixed at some point OTA but for the price they are asking, it should work now.
still sad that the fortwo is dead -_-
You never know they seem to be rolling the #3 out and who knows what’s next..??
I would prefer proper switches, I am older generation, I don't like touch screens, it's like using a mobile phone yet using a mobile phone is illegal, it looks very similar to the Mini estate, sorry to say, quite ugly, I don't like the divide between the front seats, it looks very claustrophobic. I'm not qualified enough to drive an electric vehicle, I don't understand computer technology, it's a lot of money, although I've driven a Smart fortwo diesel for the last 12 years, I can drive for a fortnight before needing to refuel, my daily commute is 60 miles, mostly motorway. Sadly it's too big, too technical yet very claustrophobic and very much out of my price range, I didn't even take that much home after stoppages last year!!! I won't be a customer in the future
What have you decided to go for then?
@@ISITWORTHITUK I will stick with my old Smart ForTwo diesel, it's covered over 150000 miles and still going strong, I only need a small car, in the summer I used a motorbike in the good weather, I am a fair weather rider now as I'm getting older, I don't have family or anyone else, just myself to transport round, living in the centre of town, I can squeeze into most gaps where others can't get in, the car is small, economical, there's no point changing and nothing on the market that appeals to me or that I'm qualified to be able to drive
There’s a raft of small no frills Chinese EVs that will be hitting our shores during 2024. They sell for under $5000 in China so even if they doubled in price and converted to sterling still under £10,000
@@markknight6267 it's more whether they would be able to cope with the type of journey I do every day and how far between charges they could last, being realistic I need a vehicle to cover at least 3-360 miles between charges due to the poor infrastructure, the long hours that I work, at present, £20 on average for a week's worth of diesel, I don't think an electric vehicle would be as cheap to run
I would like to think that these vehicles would be more user friendly for the older generations rather than all the screens to work through to operate the lights, seats, radio etc, many of us still prefer basic simplicity
Volvo looks way better and is faster 😂
Ex30 has got a very interesting design indeed, and that is externally while the interior design fails to give the passengers a very spacious and comfortable experience which is a shame.
In regards to speed, do you really need to have the fastest EV on the road? Are you able to use the full potential of EX30 speed in uk road? 🙈 😂
