Is the Drill Instructor allowed to hit me
My Recruiter: the law requires I answer no
The Drill Instructor can’t Hurt you because they’ll get in trouble
@@laangelsfan r/whoosh
Only if he is ready to end his/her career
Not hit you. Just show "tough love". Let's put it this way, if you piss em off you'll have some unwanted attention for the remainder of your training. And it gets physical
@Kevin McGinn couldn't have said it better myself... I still find myself flinching whenever I hear that frog voice; good times.
The roommate was just vibing
Ong
haha the guy in the background just sleeping trynna vibe lol
"There also not gonna just continuously smack you in the back of the head"😂😂😂
😂
Went to Boot in 89. Movie pretty accurate. After Boot you had ten day leave. Then MCT (03 & non-03). Then the seabag drag to SOI. You are still considered a Boot your first six months in the Fleet.
I met a reservist I went to mos school with, 3 years into my enlistment he showed up at Camp Pendleton for some training and he still acted boot. 😁
I'm 0231 intel and joined in 2013. I personally never got smacked around by the drill instructor, branded, or hazed by my unit BUT that doesn't mean it doesn't happen! There were some guys in basic that got some tough love from the DIs, but those recruits were a-holes and needed that tough love imo. At the end of the day, I just think it depends on your drill instructor's style/methods and what unit you're in. In infantry or combat oriented units, you may have a rougher experience, so be prepared if that's your MOS. If you're a POG like my wife and I, I think you'll be ok! It's a different ballgame when you choose the POG life! Anyways, semper fi and have good night everyone 🙏
Love u Trell! Can u do a vid on what to avoid in the Marines, like what not to do and say!
Serious
Don't marry a stripper or cheerleader. Don't buy a 2 door sportscar. Don't drink n drive.
@@MrStaybrown okay the first 2 were reasonable but be realistic km not just gonna not drink and drive
In the summer of 1978 my DI choked me until I thought I was going to pass out... I had my web belt around my neck and he walked by, grabbed it and choked me with it. Semper Fi
My uncle told me to keep my mouth shut and go as hard and fast as I can, and if I graduated and they don't know who I am, I did good. The day I graduated my mom asked my Sr drill instructor how I was and my mom said his face went blank and he said fine just fine.
1993-2002 Bootcamp Paris Island 1142. This is so how it was. Perfect movie hurry up and wait Marine.
Do full metal jacket! I'm loving all the content. Thank you for your service.
Will do!
This is absolutely one of my favorite movies.
I like your video! 👍
📝
5:03 scribes in bootcamp
4:50 arguments with drill instructors
Another great vid thanks trell👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I can’t stop watching your videos
I like your videos ❤️❤️
Brodie behind u just trynna sleep😂🤣
I went through MCRD San Diego in 04 & I absolutely got grabbed by the neck from my DI. Had sand kicked in my face while doing push ups, too. Never got hit though.
The Marine Corps is ever changing
bro i just watched this movie last night! i had already watched the movie 2 other times, but i could watch it a thousand times so i watched it again with my dad last night
I was in during Desert Shield/Storm and I went to MCT in Feb 91 and the war was over by the time I finished.
PI Mike co. Desert shield turned into desert storm on my boot leave. Started boot camp during desert shield war over before I finished mct
Thank youuuuu. Thats a relief😅
The homie 👊🏿🔥🔥
We got recruits including myself get choked out all the time lmao
LOL THAT DRILL INSTRUCTOR IS SAVAGE
U gave me a relief bro lol feel a little better a little lol
Can you do a vid on gear for infantry
I joined the Marines in 1988 and served in Desert Storm. The Boot Camp scene is pretty accurate.
Swofford taking about getting lost on his way to college is kinda sketchy, but definitely possible.
His face going through the chalkboard would definitely happen if ANY recruit mouthed off to a Drill Instructor.
The rest of the movie is absolute 🐴 💩.
Remember guys, this is boot camp in the late 1980s, not when this young man went to boot camp. A lot has changed since then when it comes to boot camp. I personally lost count of how many times my throat was grabbed or how many “love taps” I received by one of my Kill Hats.
I was at PI in late 1988 too. Graduated November of 88 in PLT 1089, A Co, 1st Bn. I absolutely concur with your assessment. I can’t say that Swofford made up some of the stuff after the boot camp stuff or if it was just for the movie as I didn’t read the book but the crap 💩 in the movie is just that crap. I was in Aco 1/8 2Mar Div as an 0311 in DS. Most of that stuff in the movie didn’t happen that way.
I just watched jarhead
You should do a part 2 of this
Thank you for the video. Would you consider recording a video where you reflect on all the ways that the military changed you?
This was very informational! Thank you so much
Thank you
You should react to "First medal of honor ever recorded, USAF combat controller, John Chapman" seems to be the trend with vet youtubers.
Thanks for the idea
I enjoyed the tik tok vids, but definitely more reaction videos i enjoy em.
More to come!
My brother was his squad leader or whoever the rank is that kind of tells the guys what to do when he was in Iraq and somewhere else (2001-2010) and he says the thing that eats him up the most about his two tours, was he had someone on watch and came outside to him shot in the head.
🙏🏽
more reactions my boy
Hey broh I want to start my channel in reactions so what app do u use to react to videos
I’m glad to be the 1k like
Yo trell, can you talk about the relationship to deploying and not being able to do what you were trained to do, shoot a rifle
Ole boy in the back is like stfu I love your vids man
Hey Trell, I enlisted a couple months ago, set to leave between Oct-Nov. I just watched your Deployment video and you talked about being in a MEU and ship life. How do you know if your MOS / Unit is part of a MEU? My MOS is intelligence so I was wondering if MEU's have Intel guys or not? Also Ik you're 03 but if you could do a video about what you know about Marine Intelligence I would love it, so hard to find any videos about Military Intelligence work.
Yeah we had Intel guys with us and your command will tell you
Awesome video!!!!!
Thanks!!
Does your roommate get annoyed when you make videos and he is try’s to catch Z”s just curious lol?
😂😂😂
I don’t see his roommate
@Joey Hernandez he on the bed
When were u in you look young, I was in from 03-07 and I delt with a lot of that shit with my platoon not the branding though , the guys were a lot more pumped because a lot of them came out the sand box.
Awesome vid man, can you react to Jarhead: Training scene.
Great content
you should talk about the crucible and your experience with it
I got you
i miss this trell. be this trell again
Lmao wtf. I was trippin when I saw that dude move on the bed
What do you think is the best job? Aviation electrical technician, com/electrician, or administration? I am a poolee rn and need advice
He has a vid on it .
I have the video just for you
Honestly, how you get away with out of regs tats and an out of regs stache 😂
I got paperwork for the tatoos and I will fix the stache
It was getting soft around the time I was getting out. When I joined in 2009 it was still intense, but it just got softer and softer as time went on.
Curious, how is it now ? I'm very curious to what the experience is like today.
More technology
@John Santini I'm surprised to hear that, we were issued Junk when I was in.
My brother joined in 2009 too
I’m getting ready for boot camp I ship out august any tips
Good luck!!! Where do you get shipped parris island or mcrd San Diego?
Just watch these dudes videos and work out (I’m not a marine but that’s what I’ve learned)
I’m going to Parris island
John Wick worry about passing the PST not the PFT, boot camp isn’t physically hard at all you’ll get in shape by walking to chow hall and shit, Go chow to chow, Sunday to Sunday even though you think that’s bs it helped me and now I’m in the fleet Camp Pendleton. Do what they say and just don’t panic they’re all putting on a act. They’ll say shit they said to me and you’ll see many others have been through and quote what they say in the bathroom. It’s all to break you. All mental there is nothing you can’t do
React to stolen valor moments.
Nobody cares about stolen valor only stuck up Marines
Stolen valor is boring
Fuhrfhrei
Honestly it’s funny poke fun about stolen valor but when they start saying “My friends died in that uniform” then it gets cringe
Tomas L AND you know that they were POGs .
Bro I've seen you wear earrings. I thought that wasn't aloud. Help me out though i got piercings too and i want to know if i can where my earrings off base
I got in trouble for it and no you can't
Yes. DIs will smack you, yes they will slap you, yes they will kick you back in the day. I heard from this guy Jamesons (the youtuber) back in the day the Military were very tough very discipline. Hard times creates tough men. 1960-1990's were very tough, not just the Marines, buy the Army too
Your buddy in the back lol
Yes!!! Do full metal jacket
I got you
I see you use canva for your thumbnail
Yo can you make a video doing a interview with someone in the intelligence mos ?
Sure
yes please do Full Metal Jacket
I got you
I got lost on the way to college 💀
When I get old enough I want to join the Air Force.
💪🏽
What MOS are you planning to do in Air Force
PLEASE react to the SSGT Sykes scenes i love his scenes and just his quotes are very memorable and he really killed that role
I got you
I didnt join till 1992 but I dont think there was any abbreviated MCT/SOI to the best of my knowledge even for the Marines that served during desert shield/storm. Also I dont remember being scared to join the fleet but then again I got hurt in SOI and didnt get to the fleet till I had been in the Corps for a year so I was a boot but not a boot if you take my meaning.
Mct and Soi stayed the same I do know they cut APC drivers mos school down to like 2 weeks because the were expecting a high casualty rate there. Had some guys go to 29 palms after mct . like I said so I was same as it had Ben . grad. PI. Winter 91 desert storm started while I was on boot leave
thats pretty much me as a roommate lol
😂
Got 5 months till I ship 😤
Good luck
I was homeless before boot. I had food and a bed. The best was a flushing toilet. My DI's where a little bit taken back that I never had a flushing shitter.
Funny video as for the hands on di's I can't say it's the same experience for me. I went in 2019 and got my head slammed against a concrete wall. Never reported it because I felt he was teaching me a lesson and didn't want me killed and understood he actually cared regardless of the physical stuff.
However kilo company across had that kid kill himself that was all over the news or was thrown off. Nobody truly knows their windows are cracked because the recruits claim they get slammed into the glass and my friend who was a kilo recruit actually had a di physical abuse him to the point he failed his PFT and had to beg a different party to redo the PFT so he wouldn't get open contract.
Long to short story physical abuse still happens. It's kinda like the saying what happens I'm Vegas stays in Vegas. Who the hell is gonna rat . The recruits arent.. they just wanna gtfo. The di's ( low chance ) that's like expecting a cop to snitch on another cop.
So yeah. Unfortunately just be aware if you go shit happens and if you truly wanna be a Marine you'll read what I'm writing and laugh and say I don't care.
That's how people are that wanna be Marines. Especially infantry. I remember I was so Gung ho they could have told me within 1 year you won't be able to walk. And I would have still done it.
React to Full metal jacket
Are you going to reinlist
React to lone survivor or American sniper
We definitely still jump people. Still alive and well haha. No brands we just take their boots and throw them in the ceiling or something.
😂
leggoooo
will they at least play bob marley over the speaker?
No lol
I was there in 2003 its totally right
💯
I was 12 when you were over there, I’m sorry you had to go. But I hope you didn’t get hurt..
I see the beer
😂
@@TrelltheGreat I will tel your war
Can you do jobs in the military
❤️❤️❤️
😁
Yeah i will never get the drill instructor i mean theres no such personalities in armies in the world in most of armies its more normal
Sounds like a lot of soft stuff compared to ”back in the day”
I love jarhead not so much the second part :(
He said I lol it’s this recruit lol shit I got smoked so much for saying I lmao
Do a video on racism in military
Nobody wanna see that shit 😂
I wanna see that shit
He’s not guna do it because he knows it’s still very common and doesn’t want to get hazed by his unit for exposing them 😂
@@Aflac100 I'll admit, it existed during my time, 87-95, all verities, but not to the extent that you are trying to stir up. We policed it amongst ourselves. However, we also realized from Bootcamp on, we truly are a melting pot of all aspects of our society. Your brothers from the Corps relationships would shock the civilian world. Biggest cause of '-isms' in my time? Alcohol. You put a bunch of young men and women, ramp them up, ten add alcohol, sh!+ gonna happen
It seems odd that the DIs can’t touch you. If you can’t handle your trainer hitting you, how would you manage against an enemy combatant coming with the intent to kill in close quarters?
Theyre not allowed to put their hands on you but trust me, they still do. Its the kind of stuff they dont show in those business insider marine videos but behind close doors it defintely happens.
Yo make more reactions
I got you
That was my unit 2/7 Taskforce Grizzly Desert Storm, some shit was accurate, and sime not, maybe due to filming, didn't know Swafford but heard he was a shitbird, just S-5
The USMC need to readjust their age limits…
tf what you do for them to spit in your faceee. gg's. hella late I'm just findin you like the vids tho
FULL METAL JACKET
I got you
Trell the Great I can’t believe you replied! The videos are awesome man keep it up keep the ideas original🔥🔥
What do the marines mean by “every Marine is a rifleman”? Does that mean you might have to use those infantry skills even if your not infantry?
Isaiah Williams yes
If you’re not infantry you’ll probably just go out on the field a couple times a year & that’s it
Yes, and that's something taught to everyone in the military. No matter what your job was, you are taught to fight, shoot, use grenades, physical fitness, and military bearing in basic training (that's why it's called that) because no matter what your job title is, you may be put in a firefight at some time and you need to know how to handle it. Everyone has the misconception that drill instructors are just a holes that hate you, but they truly want you to stay alive and that's their way of showing they care
Marine history son, know before you go. Cooks put down the ladles and grabbed rifles all over the Pacific and Vietnam. Not so much now, but a cook is taught one shot, one kill just like an infantry man. Although cooks were removed 90-91, but may be back in now.
Plz react to full metal jacket
I got you
The promotion jobs was the house mouse the scribe the squad leaders and the guide Parris lsland 1984 Semper Fi!
Yea scribe is a good job until you have to carry around the scribe bag for 13 weeks
💯
Where’s ur haircut?
Looks to be about 2 & 1/2 inches to long on top
They just skipped the mos school part for the movie this was 1989 so they just changed it from ITS to SOI and you definatly got your ass beat when you first got to your platoon in the FMF victor unit they called it back then just like they did on this movie almost as soon as there was no NCO's around and the the NCO's do conveniently disappear for a while so your platoon could welcome you aboard in this manner that was 32 years ago times change and things are done much different these days 0331/41 1986/97 V 2/9 1/7 1/5 1/2...
2:22 (On the left) What the fuck?????
You should read the Jar Head book.
bet
The first time I saw this movie was a bootleg while I was in Ramadi and the whole platoon fucking hated this character
If your infantry, lets say 0311,in todays marine corps what are the odds you actually get deployed somewhere hostile like Afghanistan?
Absolutely zero. We’re in what’s called “peacetime Marine Corps” in other words no wars being fought. Which sucks because even though I’m not infantry I have an mos that’s combat related and I was looking forward to getting deployed in combat 😐
@@openingshift7070 Joining in a couple months, planning to do infantry and that sucks. I guess I shouldn't expect any combat deployments in my career.
@@isaactwine Yeah. It’s basically a Jarhead situation where we’ll train our asses off in boot camp and SOI and then when we get deployed we won’t really see shit. Also if you’re going Infantry prepare to get fucked with a lot
