I only shoot paper, or steel targets, but have always preferred to use the turrets for elevation and holdover marks for windage. I can spin the elevation turret pretty fast and will generally use markers on my elevation turret.
No problems with that. I use my turrets a lot (more than the reticles marks), but having those subtensions stadia available can be helpful.
