- Detailed review and test of the 2024 Porsche Cayenne in base model trim, including price and features, handling, ride quality, interior, performance and more.
The Porsche Cayenne is a popular luxury SUV with V6 and V8 engines plus available plug-in hybrid versions. Today we are testing the base model 3.0L turbo V6 with virtually no mechanical options (though a long list of cosmetic upgrades).
Long story short: buy the Cayenne S V8 instead.
The Cayenne competes with the BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, Range Rover Sport, Audi Q8 and other premium SUVs.

I didn't get on with this particular Cayenne spec, but I have included my preferred Cayenne S build in this video. Will be testing a build like that soon. -Tom
Audi Q8 please
Must say your reviews are getting much more natural and less scripted. Well done on a nice review.
I really appreciate that you dig through the options and spec levels of these cars to find where the value is, rather than just going 'doors make nice thunk', like so many other reviewers.
If I was crazy enough to splash out on one of these VW group cars, I reckon it'd be the SQ8 with its single option 'Sensory' package.
I just find it crazy in the USA for some colored body cladding its 5k and full body color its 9-10k!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXTRA SHEESH!
I wish they kept the taillights from the previous model. It had more character. The updated taillights look generic and from the rear, the Cayenne just looks like other SUV’s I see on the road.
He's fabulous!!!
Australian expat I bought the hybrid in Bangkok, Thailand. 86km battery upgrade 0-100 in 4.9.
Can you drive at plus 30 mph? In B.
5:47 look at finish of the leather around the isofix anchor point..not sure if that’s just me but it feels so cheaply made..and no mention of the change of interior door handle into a piece of black plastic lever..
Not everyone needs a V8 mate although the old spec S maybe a good second hand buy
Yes! The best value with the same performance as the V8. And it's lighter.
Not everyone needs to spend the price of a house on a car that will be worth less than a toaster in no time at all.
I’m getting an artic grey cayenne v6 in a few days for about $185k with mostly comfort, tech and styling options and the reason for that was very simple. I’ve got 2 young kids and my wife will be driving most of the time whilst I drive my i30 sedan N. We didn’t need another performance vehicle. My wife doesn’t know what adaptive suspension does or has never changed the driving dynamics setting in previous cars. So spending another $50k on performance options she did not understand or use was a complete waste of money. And you might then why get a Porsche? She wanted to upgrade to a Porsche. If I really wanted a performance suv I’d buy a bmw x5m competition that’s going for about $256k full option which is equivalent to the cayenne turbo GT.
Welcome to the new “CHEAPO PLASTIC” world of Porsche, or should I say Skoda or Cupra ??? The interior is a catastrophy, I think they didn’t find anything CHEAPER…
Porsche and Lexus interiors are looking cheaper these days as they go bigger screens and less contrasting colors and materials
Porsche's online configurator has several contrasting options
Still feel very premium IRL. But the trend of simplifying everything by putting everything in touch screens is indeed cheapening the feel of car interiors.
@@HiddenWen the interior actually feels really cheap in real life, had just went to the dealership last week.. the plastic interior door release lever is beyond cheap. The material on the upper door trim feel cheap as a VW golf unless you option an extended leather package😅 and look at the finishes of the leather seat in this video at 5:47 around the isofix anchor - how would this pass QA in the factory bothers me
@@Chrischen0589 Yeah, you need to option the packages. Porsche are really good at this which I also believe is something they need to stop.
There are many interesting stocks in many industries that you might follow. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire
You should know it's easy and hard to make that much profit. I say EASY because it's very possible to make that much, and Hard because you'll need professional assistance to do it, I'd suggest you get assisted by a market advisor.
Please can you leave the info of your investment advisor here? I'm in dire need for one!!
JASPER STROWMAN concept is key in beating all odds to excel in this form of online commodity. His management team is quite impressive so far! With SUK made a profit of over 28,863 dollar weekly
Indeed, most people downplay the roles of financial planners until burnt by their mistakes. productivity is optimized and keeping up to date strategies and analysis makes it more lucrative. I've been able to navigate the volatilities and scaled up 39k from 5k with professional guidance
pricing makes no sense, you can almost get a urus for 200k
Get the e hybrid. Better performance and fuel efficiency
Fuel efficiency and wealth doesn't always go hand in hand
Over priced VW shared interior bits with Audi
I would rather buy a Porsche Macan GTS for similar money .
Too small like an Audi q3
They used to be such a handsome car. Utterly generic now and such a disappointment to look at.
Show USD equivalent on screen every time you talk money, in fact run both numbers, will help to broaden the audience, (always show numbers on the screen in general). Who knows Aussie $ 😀
Very smart review 👍🏼
Rubbish even the Basic drives as the best SUV on the market.
Carefully be aware will drain your bank account😂😂
It’s a VW under the skin
Apart from badge there is nothing special about this, most features can also be had in 35k Hyundai.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
A Hyundai will always be an ugly ass Hyundai idc how much they rebrand it and how many Brokies hype it up
........................... !&% Freak'n K for a un-reliable NIGHTMARE????? Jus' WOW!
To me, bmw x5 M60i looks more better value than this.
My Fourth Porsche Cayenne…….The interior design team should be immediately sacked and replaced. My 165.000 us$ car has a totally Porsche unworthy, CHEAP, Plastic interior. It’s just absolutely HORRIBLE and a total disaster compared with what we were used to get from Porsche. I feel like I’m sitting in a cheap Toyota or Skoda. Help, this is just totally unacceptable. It’s the biggest Porsche Rip-off ever. I have 10 porsches…..The new Cayenne is a Shambles, whatever the seller glorifies, it’s a waste of money…..Just GUTTED and it’s UNACCEPTABLE !
Somehow the design looks .. outdated and old not to mention the price that is .. 😣
Porsche has never been about making radical changes: see base 911
What better way to say to people "I think I'm better than you, but I can't drive and can't afford a supercar".
Comment probably written by a "Porsche fan-boy" who uses the bank of mummy and daddy to pay for such a silly car!!!
@@peteranderson7497nah he 100% has a 1995 Toyota and jerks off to how reliable it is and how it will last longer than a luxury car
This Porsche Cayenne doesn't have 772 litres of boot space....they are lying and using their own skewed metrics as a manufacturer....just like Audi and VW does it all of the time.
Prove it
@@Alby911 I owned multiple VW-s and Audis over the span of 25 years....one of those lying cars was my Audi A4 Avant 2015 (model 2014) that said having 490 litres or in some tests above 500 litres....but in reality it had around 445-455 litres max of boot space.
Who are you buttercup, that I would have to prove anything to ya, boy ?!?!
@@lflyr6287 Yikes. Prove that Porche is lying, it's irrelevant what other models proclaim.
@@Alby911 haha buttercup, you're a young boy without any experiences....Porsche is owned by VW group....and so is the Audi....who do you think dictates how final versions of those cars will look like ?!?!
@@Alby911 The Dieselgate coverup cost Porsche $600 million. All they do is lie.
Better you buy a Lexus ! 😊
A $150,000 car which you should have spent another $18,000 to get nice seats - Really!!! Unless you inherited the purchase price for a Porsche Cayenne (or any other Porsche for that matter) you are/have been savvy with your money - you've earned it! So why would you make such a stupid economic decision and waste hour "hard-earned" cash and pay the "Porsche Tax" for something so over-priced and whose alternatives (even from the VW group) are much cheaper and probably as good or nearly as good as a Porsche. It's like going around with a "I'm an idiot" sticker on your forehead.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Because some people can? The only idiots are the ones who can't afford to buy one. 😂
damn that's ugly
This review has to be the worst I have seen from him. If he had just reviewed the car presented to him and stopped mentioning the options it doesn't have. Rather compare how good or bad this particular car is compared to other manufacturers because people are going to cross shop this with say a Merc or BMW of the same price.
Did you not read the title? The focus is on the Cayenne family tree
I don't agree. I made comprehensive comments about the red base model on test (strengths and weaknesses), explained why I think the Cayenne S is likely to be better, and laid out the sort of spec I'd buy. I think that's a range of actionable insights. Cheers.
Rather obvious it is a poverty version - mediocre red paint you could find on a Corolla. Ugly wheels.
Black wheels would look better
Poverty version, classic poor man's comment without having sat or driven one
Its literally an average looking, averragr interior , poorly specc'd car for a huge price. Why do people fall for over priced Euro still.
Because it's not 'literally' 'average' looking, with an 'average' interior, and 'poorly' spec'd. That's why people 'fall' for Euros.
And what's your point of comparison; price / styling / performance etc?
@@Alby911 several Japanese and Korean models which have caught up with the Euros in terms of interior and exterior styling but offer far more features for half the price, or less. Even Lexus, which builds their components to a higher quality than the Euros, can be bought for 60-70k.
@@Sean-sz7zo It goes beyond than just catching up to materials and tech; Porsche's heritage and status is part of the appeal, and there's no shortage of wealthy people wanting to seperate themselves from common brands
Not worth the asking price. Interior has a lot of cheap plastic, seats don't have quilt stitching or contrast piping, floor mats are low quality, Lousy warranty. No thanks.
You are absolutely talking rubbish. Porsche has the best warranty. It’s Porsche and plastic is in your mind probably.
Classic "I can't afford an expensive car" so better find imaginary faults @@Bollywoodhollywood2023
Porsche is more reliable than other German brands
cheap plastic?😂😂😂
Then a mercedes who it is? Only made by plastic
@@Bollywoodhollywood2023 Three years? You call that the best...lol. Do the math.
