Fly fishing for trout, fly fishing for Cutthroat in the Pacific Northwest has been a passion of mine for the last 40 years. I have spent most of my life fly fishing the great Pacific Northwest to include fly fishing in Alaska, fly fishing in Washington, fly fishing in Oregon, fly fishing in Idaho and fly fishing in Montana. I generally will fly fish and practice catch and release when fly fishing for trout, but I have been known to catch and cook during camping trips to many of my favorite fishing spots. I love to fly fish lakes in the higher elevation, though I have a few lowland lakes that are fly fishing only that are also on my most favorite list. I have a ton experience fly fishing rivers for trout and always enjoy discovering new rivers to fly fishing in and around the greater Pacific Northwest. I am also an accomplished at casting a fly rod - whether it is fly fishing casting for distance, fly fishing casting for accuracy, the double haul, roll cast, tower cast and many more fly fishing casting techniques - I can show you the basics when it comes to casting a fly rod. I also will cover many topics that relate to getting started with fly fishing. From your basic fly fishing setups, flies and fly boxes - we cover all the fly fishing needs for beginners. Thanks for taking the time to tune into FlyFishDan and I hope you consider subscribing to my fly fishing channel. Cheers and FISH-ON!!! - Фільми й анімація
RESPECT you Dan for not naming names, protecting the fisheries from overuse, and protecting anglers who want to have a quality experience by fishing rivers/streams that are not haggard and beat-down. Commenters please respect the fisheries and the ethic of conservation of fish and quality experiences by not asking for content providers to post or Hot Spot these places. Seems like your followers are onto it. As the internet is contributing to loving (many) western fisheries to death, retaining this ethic seems more important than ever. Thanks to you Dan and commenters who are living this respectful ethic! Subscribed.
Thanks for the kind words - I was a hard lesson learned early on...but today it's about inspiring others to get out there an discover places for themselves and not paving a road map to my favorite spots. Thanks for joining the channel!
Nice fish and great scenery. An awesome way 2 spend a day fishin Freestone creeks n rivers. An absolute joy to me. Thank you Dan God Bless n fish on!
Spectacular views! That beginning is extraordinary beautiful. Great fishing also..Fish on! Thanks as always for taking me away. Have a great week Dan! 🎣 🏔 👍👌

Your in my backyard Dan. Thats my ABSOLUTELY FAVORITE river to fish.. there's some massive westlope and rainbows 18 to 20inch range, in there if you can find them. Keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks Don - love that river! Shall remain unnamed ;). Cheers!
Dan, at times it’s frustrating that the spots aren’t listed but I totally understand and respect the decision. Makes me want to go and discover more locations of my own! Love the work you put into your channel, cheers brother!
I totally understand and appreciate the kind words, discovery really is an amazing thing, makes it a bit more special. Often I just get in the Jeep and drive, pulling over and trying new spots (that's how I discovered this spot). Thank you for taking the time to watch as well, cheers! Dan
Dude you're right over by me. Awesome content man gotta love some good fly fishing. Fish on!

Thanks Joel! Love this river - I still use just my iPhone...perhaps one day I will get a GoPro!
My buddy's and I were just out in that area last week. Beautiful area to fly fish! We did however run into a little wildfire smoke.
It really is an amazing fishery - I was fishing just at the start of the big fire in the area...hope they get that under control soon! Cheers!
I’ve watched a lot of fishing videos Dan and I will say, yours can be some of the best and most entertaining :) joe from reds fly shop has some great ones too. Let’s do this, fish on! 😁😁
Wow, thanks! I appreciate that! Cheers!
Nice video, but your fishing in one of my favorite spots on this River. HA!
Thank you! That's why she will remain unnamed :)
Nice video! There's nothing like getting a strike at the spot you predicted to hold fish... makes my heart stop!!
So true!!
Awesome video man that area looks gorgeous. I’m heading up to plain Washington in June hoping to catch some fish on fly. Never been up to Washington before would love some insight if possible. Looking to fish some good public waters near plain
Send me a PM and I'll give you a few good spots. Cheers!
@@FlyFishDan hey Dan not sure how to PM on UA-cam but u sent you a PM on Instagram. Names Jackson. Thanks
Cliff side at 7:49 must realllllly hold some large fish!!!!
Oh yeah - nothing better than those river cut-banks!
Someone got their drone fixed!
Why yes...yes indeed :))
What river is this exactly? I live in WA state and am just starting this fly fishing journey and would love to get into some easy streams like this!
Hello Shawn, welcome to the sport! Check out WDFW - it is a great resource for finding new places to explore. I appreciate you watching and FISH-ON!
Yo you’re missing your F! lol
How's that Sage TCR?
Good eye! Yes it is :))
Are you supposed to use the reel
Not always - putting the fish on the reel reduces the risk of snagging your fly line onto something...the fish makes a run...might break you off if your tangled up. Plus - I love to hear the sound of the reel when they take off! Cheers!
@@FlyFishDan yeah I do love that sound. Great point, love your videos keep it up!
Which river?
One of my favorite things to do is find a place on the map and go explore. Discovery is one of the best things about fly fishing new places. Cheers!
@@FlyFishDan Thank you for replying 😀 While I very much agree with your philosophy of exploration, when one has a very limited income, and has to pay $5/gallon for gas (current local price), exploration is not an option. Many of us cannot afford to explore, and instead have to know the exact destination for our desired experience. At the moment, driving a couple of hours to a spot like the one in your video is very difficult to afford, and is considered a luxury to experience once, perhaps twice if you are fortunate. People in my position have to decide whether the money spent for gas to get to the location is more important than spending it to feed one's child. To me, the location in this video looks like a few possible spots along the Yakima River, east of Cle Elum. But, it could be a couple of other places, to.
No matter what, I wish upon you nothing but fish on the end of your lines :)
@FlyFishDan Thank you for not sharing the location openly. So many places have been ruined by social media influencers( not just fishing spots either) and people that don't want to have to earn the experience. It's great to see that you focus on being a quality content creator and not just an influencer.
God’s waters and fish should not be a secret. It doesn’t belong to only you! 😡
Oh now...
He's not saying it does...you just have to put in the work to figure it out yourself...like people used to do.
LOL, can't get much more entitled than that thinking you have a right to someone else's knowledge. Some people
