Fly fishing for trout, fly fishing for Cutthroat in the Pacific Northwest has been a passion of mine for the last 40 years. I have spent most of my life fly fishing the great Pacific Northwest to include fly fishing in Alaska, fly fishing in Washington, fly fishing in Oregon, fly fishing in Idaho and fly fishing in Montana. I generally will fly fish and practice catch and release when fly fishing for trout, but I have been known to catch and cook during camping trips to many of my favorite fishing spots. I love to fly fish lakes in the higher elevation, though I have a few lowland lakes that are fly fishing only that are also on my most favorite list. I have a ton experience fly fishing rivers for trout and always enjoy discovering new rivers to fly fishing in and around the greater Pacific Northwest. I am also an accomplished at casting a fly rod - whether it is fly fishing casting for distance, fly fishing casting for accuracy, the double haul, roll cast, tower cast and many more fly fishing casting techniques - I can show you the basics when it comes to casting a fly rod. I also will cover many topics that relate to getting started with fly fishing. From your basic fly fishing setups, flies and fly boxes - we cover all the fly fishing needs for beginners. Thanks for taking the time to tune into FlyFishDan and I hope you consider subscribing to my fly fishing channel. Cheers and FISH-ON!!! - Розваги
I like how you guys treat the fish with respect! 😎👍
Awesome stuff. Brought a smile to my face!
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch. Cheers!
Awesome underwater shots, guys! 🤩
Thanks Bailly!
Nice video! Of course Mark won as he used the same rod I have! HA! Are there safety issues on that stretch for me to worry about in my Fishcat scout pontoon? Have floated solo several times green bridge to dam takeout and ringer to umtanum, with no issues. HOW long a float is it from Reinhart to Ringer. Waiting for level to drop a bit.
Great video! I've got a place 15 minutes from the Yakima in Ronald. I actually just started learning to fly fish on it in September. Totally inspired by some of your videos! If you don't mind me asking where did you guys start and finish at on the river? I want to do more bank fishing on the Yakima but still trying to figure out places to go.
Thanks Randall - lucky you! I would love to live that close! :)) We did the float Reinhart to Ringer (I believe it's called). I would stop by the Evening Hatch or Reds Fly Shop in the Canyon. They can provide you with a map of all the wadable sections. Glad to hear you are getting into fly fishing! Cheers!
Amazing fishing, absolutely I like your video.😍
Many many thanks - Cheers!
Haha that was a fun challenge, it was just great to get out and catch some rays, catch fresh air, and catch … 3 fish 😂
It was a fun challenge for sure - I WANT REDEMPTION! I'm going to bring four rods, all set up with different indicator setups. Then I am going to have a pocket full of rocks just in case....
@@FlyFishDan Well lets get something on the books then!
Hey Dan thanks for posting such great videos. Any chance you could post another video on how to mend with an indicator?
Thank you! Absolutely - I’ll be sure to do that soon
@@FlyFishDan thank you so much.
Fun time, not supposed to dip the phone. Looks like an excuse for another fishing trip. Thanks Dan.
Thanks Lee for taking the time to watch - I do appreciate that! Almost lost it...Lol. I have to be more careful!
Another great video. Your quality and editing are so good. Always enjoy them. I don't believe this was a very fair competition. Indicator nymphing, in my opinion, is only superior to Euro nymphing in a couple of water types. In a lot of the water you guys were fishing, the surface current and the current where the fish are holding, is much different. Big advantage to Euro style. My wife and I will be fishing the canyon a few days next week. We will be primarily Euro nymphing, and may throw some streamers. It's a shame that the best Euro rods, which most seem to feel are the T&T Contact II's by far, are so much more expensive than some of the other offerings. The difference between even the Contact II's and the Sage ESN is pretty significant, and below the Sage ESN the difference gets huge. Again, my opinion.
I knew Mark was up to something when he wanted to have this challenge on this particular stretch of the river…hmmmm. Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate it! I am finding the editing process much easier these days. Now I keep raising the bar!! Lol
Dan, Jeff hit it on the head. EN or bouncing a small jig with a spinning rod & reel is hella-sensitive and better detecting soft bites than ole Mr. Floaty. Having said that, to each his own and BAH! to EN-ing 😅😉🙃
@@FlyFishDan your video's are so well done, it's easy to just get caught up in it and feel like there is a film crew there capturing everything. I don't believe you have a camera person most of the time, it's just you? When I think about the time and talent needed to set up some of the shots, many which look like they use a drone, and still actually fish, and then edit it all, I'm blown away. It comes across very seamless, with no distractions. Just like you have a camera crew with you. I genuinely appreciate your efforts to put out such high quality content.
@@1NotAPony1 thank you Jeff, I appreciate your kind words. Yes, in nearly every trip it’s just me. I was fortunate enough on this video to have Mark adding the extra elements. Cheers!
@@FlyFishDan Wow, super impressed Dan. It would be easy to believe you had a camera person. The fact that it's just you makes it extra impressive. Tight lines!
This is so hilarious. Thanks for giving us some good laugh guys! Now that I've seen this. I should seriously consider ******** (no spoiler) ?
Lol - glad you enjoyed it Jay...we certainly had some fun creating this vid. Cheers!
I miss Wa! Great video. Thanks
Thank you for watching - cheers!
This happens to me every time I fish with Mark too. Don’t beat yourself up
Mark is really a great fly angler indeed :))
@@FlyFishDan last time we fished the Yak was years ago, but it was a pummeling lol
Great fun video 😎👌
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you!
@@FlyFishDan welcome!!
Wear a life jacket in that boat Dan. You never know what can happen.
Very true - I have my new comfortable PFD and it's on every time moving forward! :))
Euro nymphing!
Boooo!!! :)) JK
Woooot!
No PFD or am I just not seeing it?
Hello - I have a waste (belt) CO2 PFD. Cheers!
That might be a steelhead
Subtitles in Spanish please! From Neuquén, Patagonia
I was pulling for ya Dan. What now?
I broke Mark’s Euro rod ;)). He’s in for a surprise next time he pulls it out of its case!
@@FlyFishDan oh shit really!
We are heading out again this weekend, will Dan have a chance to redeem himself??? Stay tuned!
You really didn't toss that indicator into the river like garbage, did you? Not the best leave no trace moment.
Not a chance Jedi Master! :)) It was a rock...I am happy to hear though that I pulled off the illusion! Cheers and FISH-ON!
Some serious smack talking going on here...
How do you like that pontoon boat?
We had a great time - the pontoon boat is GREAT for running down rivers. Super stable and lots of storage - love it!
He didnt include any of my smack talking funny enough…
"fly fishing" :D
Fun challenge for sure - thanks for tuning in! Cheers!
Euronymphing are not but this fish 😂
bobber fishing vs bottom fishing, neither one of them is true fly fishing :-0 joking of course
We violated the rules by not wearing tweed and one sight casting upstream. :D :D
@@TheFlyFishingFilmmaker :-)))))))
@@awaken77 Though I'll tell you what, if I got to go fish chalk streams in the UK, I'd totally sport a tweed hat
