- Hey everybody! Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Blues Saraceno Licks From 1995. I've featured Blues several times on the channel, including two additional Three-For-All episodes and 'The Chords Of Blues Saraceno' Chordplay lesson that was created/posted last year. Needless to say, I'm a HUGE fan of his phenomenal music and intensely melodic guitar playing, which is loaded with energy, feel, emotion, conviction, and so much more!
The ideas in this lesson came from those candid and off-the-cuff moments during his classic REH instructional video from 1995, featuring those areas of his video that really capture a number of his raw/intense signature licks and emotive phrases. From intense bluesy string bending and vibrato licks to finger-twisting melodic runs and blurry scale sequences, you'll find a little bit of everything for everyone hiding in this lesson.
If you're a Blues Saraceno fan, a rock-blues player, or just someone searching for some new licks to stick into your bag of tricks - this lesson is totally for you! Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe to Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!

Awesome lesson! Blues is definitely an underrated player that deserves more attention.
I don't understand why Blues isn't featured more in guitar magazines. He has chops, feel AND taste. Keep up the great work, Dave!
I saw him at a clinic in Colorado Springs in the early 90's. He WOW'd us!
While teaching guitar at a local music store in the 90's and 00's, I used a Samick Blues Saraceno model guitar during lessons. It played great - nice contours, neck and sound. I personally owned a Fender Yngwie Strat - however, the music store didn't deal in Fender and they asked if I would use a guitar from their inventory, so I tried the yellow Blues Saracenio model. I used it for years until one of my students purchased it - good times!
🌎✌️🌱🎶
I sincerely hope Blues sees this. Great lesson 👍🏼
I had the pleasure of booking the "new" Cream with Blues and the infamous Ginger Baker, at the Omni in Oakland. It was one of my first NON thrash shows ever - and the fans flipped. It did very well, and Blues killed it!
Dave you rock Blues was and is underrated he's so tasty I learn so much from your lessons
If I could only ever hear one player only play one note, it’s Blues. #1
Very cool lesson. When " plaid "came out, I showed the song " A lighter shade of plaid "to my teacher at the time and he loved it. I haven't heard to many songs that combine classical with blues. Killer album very catchy licks.
Hair pick is my absolute favourite guitar album of all times, thank you David!! Love blues Saraceno.
Thank you, David 🙏
I appreciate the lesson and the licks.
Blues was all over in guitar magazines in the late 80s. Helluva player, seemingly underappreciated by the masses
Saw him in Boston with jack Bruce incredible guitar player
Big fan of Saraceno I have a Ibanez Guitar signed by him thanks for the video!
Man Blues is one of THE best players out there! He's by far on of my favorites...please keep doing more of his stuff.
Great lesson,thank you,
Fantastic!!!!!!
Met Blues in 95 in front of the Whiskey. He was pushing his cabinet on his skateboard and had his gig bag over his shoulder.
He's really awesome.
Hairpick is in my top 10 instrumental albums. Hes so good.
Jeez your tone is unreal I love it.
Excellent 😃
That pick rack is always a great attack.
Wow! You nailed it
What a wonderful player! I know it has been written and said over and over, but what the hell. Great licks in all three videos, Dave!
In the first lick, after Blues hits that C on the 13th fret (B string), I am pretty sure I can hear him bend the G (12th fret, G string), then A (10th fret, B string), F (10th fret, G string), before he lands on the final D. There is a small roll one has to do on the 10th fret, but it is very manageable. And standard in blues.
What is not standard is playing such licks with the attitude and conviction Blues has.
Very cool, David. You make it look so easy...hopefully I'll get there. Thanks again! You're the best!
Thanks Dave ... ...been getting more and more into Blues thanks to you,
This lesson exemplifies what I like most about your channel. You dig into the styles of great players by focusing on relatively obscure performances. Then you put your own personal stamp on it. I then learn it "my way" and incorporate it into my own playing. Thank you!
Awesome
Yes. Plaid ruled !! Awesome moment in guitar history. Thank you for my birthday guitar lesson!!
Bookmarked for future practice - thanks Mr. Brew! Right up my three-finger guitarist alley.
Great lesson. Love those licks!!! Thx David!!🎸
Great stuff!
Hi …just discovered your channel today…love your lesson and im a fan of Blues Saraceno’s playing style and tone …you nailed it bruh
Please do more lessons related to Blues ( part 2 😅)
I remember seeing him on Guitar Magazine and seeing the ad for his first album. I didn't know anyone who had heard him play. Finally heard him play just last week.
Great lesson. I needed this. Love ya bro.
Great vid. One of the tastiest and underrated guitarist!
Killer licks!! Saraceno is awesome! You sir are as well, thank you!
Amazing!!! Terrific!!!
Excellence, as always. Your tone and vibrato are sensational, David.
I've always wanted one of his plaid Yamahas
David, another home run lesson. Those are tasty. Much appreciated.
thank you Blues and David for the breakdown!
That was an awesome lesson! Blues so much conviction when he solos! Keep it coming David...appreciate you!
I grew up around the same time and used to play songs from the first and second albums with a drummer friend. Yeah, BS is one hell of a guitar player!….I never saw that REH video though.
Awesome playing Mr Brewster....that last shuffle lick made me laugh out loud it was soo good!
Thanks for this gem Dave, great licks! Always thought of Blues as a fantastic player and a little on the underrated side of the spectrum. Guess what I’m trying to say is I thought he would be a bigger name so to speak. Plaid is a great album!
Best Damn Channel Out There🤘
Great licks!! I think you were the one who turned me on to his “dark country” stuff. I remember his solo stuff when I was in high school.
Hells yeah! Blues is awesome.
Hey what up Man hope all is well your way, I've been in South Carolina Myrtle Beach the past few days, I'm a little behind on your the lessons you released the past week. I did check out your old lesson on Toto and Kansas, I also checked out Lukathers solo album from 94, thank you for the recommendation. Can't wait to get home and check this and the cake video out
I think that I was at that same clinic at the Sound Post...
dude i'm your fan!)
Killer lesson….. again!!!
I still want a Samick plaid guitar like that!
This one rocks! Great job
l met Blues and Jim Marshall on the Marshall Amp stand at the SSEC, Glasgow, Scotland back on 19th September 1992. Both were really nice guys. Being a Scot l loved Blues' plaid guitar 🙂
greasy is how i would describe blues playing style. easily identifiable sound!
I can dig it Flame 🔥 On
Amazing amazing amazing lesson …. But on the first lick he’s playing different notes and there aren’t any pull offs
One of my favs too Dave. Thanks for this! I think there's one note difference in that first lick. I hear this: (10) d-a-c g(stretch)-a-f-d
some nice variations of good old blues licks....but as you said....without "conviction" there is NO blues....🙂....i'll add them to my "collection....cheers David
To play dynamically, one needs to play with a medium pick attack as a baseline. If one is always playing soft, they eliminate much of the impact of playing softer. Likewise if one is always picking hard, they can't accent at all, they can *only* play softer. Always have a base that is somewhere in the middle, then you actually leave room to play dynamically. Because I play a lot prog and metal, I use a 2mm pick so my baseline attack is strong, but I can make it harder or softer with ease.
Yes i agree with the nuances.. I play classic rock to hard rock with a 1mm. plectrum.
2mm? What do you use a half dollar?
@@waynecanning4122I use a 2mm Gravity pick, got to try it out for a while, then all thinner picks seem, well, thin sounding.
Michael Schencker is also a three finger player.
Those are really cool licks of Blues!
Hi Dave, we're you referring to Guitar Madness at the Hemmens Auditorium in Elgin Illinois? 1989 I believe.
mR. late night grabbin the G string... 🎵 r0ck0n 🎵
Pure Hendrix
Love the Blues’ lessons on this channel! I’m thinking that first lick Is pretty close to the one Warren D did on Lay it Down. Definitely with blues own style of course
awesome lesson as always! Dave, any tips on how to get close to Saraceno's tone?
Have you did frank zappa licks ? 👍🏻🍻
Dave, big fan of the channel. Would love to see some Lance Lopez. Hard Time is a killer riff!
please, PLEASE, do rabbit soup. ya just gotta do it for the rest of us.
Hi Dave. How's about a breaking chords episode on Michael Lee Firkins? He's got some nice arpeggio ideas. Great content Dave. God bless.
I love playin..! ..especially when there’s a lotta schmearin’ goin on..!!🤣👍🏼
Quick question…gears rundown for this video please ? 😂
Hi David, do you know if the REH Blues Saraceno tape had a tab book with it?
Great vid as always! I was wondering, what Start model is that (and year). Sounds fantastic- looks like you put a JB in too?
These licks are so damn tasty i gained 3lbs watching this video
Those licks are sooo tasty!
Its a bummer that he’s known as the “Poison guitarist”.
He’s got more talent in tip of his right fingernail than all poison members combined.
No , I can't bend with my pinky , it's good for nothing .
just practice lol, pinky can be quite useful
@@Yourbankaccount My pinky is useless , it knows nothing
