I stumbled upon your video, liked the title (long time Pink Floyd fan), and I had to watch. I've been watching UA-cam for about 10 years now, and been playing guitar and vocals (touring level) for 52 years. Never have I seen a video as unique as yours, Antoine! I love your contagious enthusiasm, disguised knowledge, and ear. If you're selling, I'm buying. Now I'm a subscriber and will be checking out your back catalog. Thank you Antoine!
Honestly I learned some of those songs off UA-cam videos but never knew the relationships or even the names of some of them. Great explanation and relating to where and what they are. Really hear each song when you play'em.
Damn, this was a brilliant insight. Love the tabs, and the way you describe the relationship between the notes as well. I’ve heard so many people talk about learning triads and how important they are. This really hit home just how many song melodies are just based around a triad! 🤯
@@AntoineMichaudGuitarLooping Well, being a big fan of symphonic/atmospheric prog rock, any album from old Genesis, Yes or Camel would make me happy. And what about older stuff like The Beatles (Revolver) or The Beach Boys (Pet Sounds)? On the more contemporary side, Steven Wilson's Hand Cannot Erase (you've already covered Porcupine Tree, which was nice!), Muse or another Radiohead album (In Rainbows or A Moon Shaped Pool would be terrific). That being said, no matter which album you'll cover next, I'm sure I'll enjoy your video. ;)

Hi Antoine, I watch you video's almost every time, just to inspire my creative brain. I don'talways comment, but I am around 🙂. This one I have to omment, because I love David Gilmour. Your video makes clear that Gilmour doesn't use adult chords and other sophisticated stuff. But his tasteful pick of the "simple" chords combined with his timing and phrasing makes PF so very special. For example he uses a progression on which he very subtle goes from a C7 to a C7sus4 and just touches that sus4 for very short period of time...this sounds so tasteful. And that is what Gilmour is, tasteful and accessible. My sincer compliments on this video's! You analyze the chord shapes of the Dark Side album on a brilliant way and make the chords accessible for everyone. I also like your enthusiasm. Hope the video's work for you to reach new students. Take care! Greetings from the Netherlands.

Amazing as always. I always play Cmaj7 with the G because I play acoustic and I think it sounds better. Floyd loves their Maj and Mi7ths. Because I am such a Floyd head, I gravitated towards the 7th. They just sound so spicy and full of life. Gilmore mastered placing them perfectly in the sonic soundscape.
Well done Suhr,(see what I did there ? 😁)sounds good, you have a great touch,,DSOM came out around when I started learning guitar,as well as so many other amazing artists of the era,Quo,Purple,The Eagles,Genesis, etc, the list is endless where I gleaned a lot of unusual chord voicings, and I used to put an album on and try to play along,I worked out those voicings, and still use them today, later in there was people like Andy Summers of The Police, with Walking on the moon for example,I had the first 3 albums,I’d encourage anyone to check out all the old 70’s and 80’s guitarists, and borrow something from them all as I did,I specifically kept away from Clapton,Hendrix and Jimmy page,as there was so many emulating their styles,I wanted to be different,I also went on to learn Keyboard parts, starting out with Be bop Deluxe,”Ships in the night” Styx “Babe” Billy Joel “Just the way you are” and in the 80’s,the likes of Howard Jones “New Song” Thompson twins “Sister of mercy” and “Hold me now”and many others, all this is great for accompanying vocalists, with Compression Chorus and Delay to pad it out,,Another voicing with that Minor 7,is to get your ring finger on the 9th top E string, and use your second finger to fret the 5th A string.
Here’s an example of that chord,im starting out with Am7 with the added 9 here, and continue with a hybrid Guitar/Keyboard backing part throughout,I know do this as as a solo, and sing whilst play the same guitar parts,my friend here put the sax on my backing track.and I put vocal harmonies on to back myself. ua-cam.com/video/JD-sbzpei7w/v-deo.html
Hello Antoine ! Thanks for sharing this with us (and them...). Lifelong acoustic player, am familiar with that. Only the Dm maj7 got me stunned, cos normally it would be inside a chromatic downward transition, but here resolving to G 7th, you say ? I have to critizise a little detail if you allow me that... thinking about your "encore" Nr. 11, at around 13:30 you claim that x 1 x 0 0 3 0 was Bb(add#11/13), which seems obvious. But to me, its a little the typical jazz players attitude "I'm superior to the rest of you all and I know everything...". Why make matters that complicated and not simply say Gm6, 1st inversion ? PS.: think of "Needle And Damage Done" by Neil Young too. Many of your listeners feel reminded of Led Zeppelins "Over The Hill...", me too.
