You bring up great points! 1) Friedman is basically making Marshalls the way we want them now. 2) they showed some signs of innovation with, basically, improving the tone shift, but it's not a new sound or greatly improved. 3) everything is still EL84s and same tube configurations. What are they really changing? How about something with a 6L6 one time for the homies. 4) there is already a plethora of competition in the ampsim, cab IR world. Invest the money in signature artists and new engineering instead, and use something like Two Notes that people are already using. What I mean about signature artists, is more like what Orange is doing. They are truly supporting the music community with things like concert promotions, giving gear to artists like Deathchant that aren't big. I don't mean more Slash or Kerry King shit. @TheDistortionPrinciple Something else I forgot to mention, is the range of wattage. I can get a 40 watt DSL combo (not head), or 100 watt heads. They have 1 50 watt offering for heads. It would be good to see a DSL type line 50 watt head that doesn't have a transformer that will blow up in 2 years. Most people don't need 100 watts anymore. He'll you can't even turn up loud enough to get the breakup you need. I would like to see more 30-50 watt entries in their line. I agree, I've been playing the DSL100 2012 version when I got it 11 years ago, and I love it, in and out of state gigs, using it in bigger studios, its great. However, as of the last couple years I find some of the features to be a bit lacking, like the Laney amps, or the Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister series, or even the budget orange super crush 100 with the XLR DI out with IR capabilities, that is a huuuuge staple now in home studios and even commercial grade studios. If Marshall even just updated the origin series or the DSL line with this feature, or even the higher end stuff like you said, that would be such a huge game changer. I've been holding off buying a higher end amp for this issue, I don't wanna blow money on a 1 use thing, and I wish Marshall did this, id fork my money over like a kid when the ice cream truck shows up.
I had a origin and loved the tone but because of the way the amp was designed when I cranked the master to get the gain level I wanted the effects loop was too hot
I mean, they are bringing what people were saying they should be doing, modified versions of thier iconic amps. Late to the game? yes, but they finally are bringing to market what people were asking them to do. This is only the first iteration of the modified series, so who knows there may be more modded versions that come along down the pipe with different mods. I persoanlly think it's cool that they are stepping into this area with thier classic series amps.
I'll definitely try out the 1959. I've been looking for a decent Plexi-in-a-box for quite a while now, and these are even cheaper than the TC Electronic Ampworx.
I was hoping for a refresh of the DSl line . They haven't upgraded the DSl Since 2018. Blackstar Ht amps which are direct a competitor to the DSl line came out with the 3rd verion of the HT line . Time for a new DSl.

the Sinvertek Drive N5+ (plus) is a remarkable preamp pedal I believe Mark Nielsen says it's a recreation of a Soldano rack unit that was designed by Mr. Bogner. They're Made in China but Sinvertek is a Chinese company.
I would consider buying a Marshall if it had the two notes system that Laney uses because I love just hooking up to that and not having worries about loudness in my room
@@ninasazonova2511 and they even make 5W and 1W versions of DSL. And there's still a possibility how to use a big 100W Marshall head in the flat - plugging into reactive load and IR. And AFAIK, a lot of venues are played through sound engineer's PA, so even miked up at lower volumes the possibility to play a big venue is still here. I think sound engineers are happier with using the 20W versions.
They missed the mark on the 800, if they had of made OD 1 zener clipping diodes and OD 2 a added tube gain stage (you know like the 80s and 90s mods) that would have been awesome, only thing they could have added to round it out would have been a depth control. The 900 was kinda stupid,the only one that would have made sense would have been the SLX version. As far as the mod heads would have been cool to see them do there own/new mod.

Marshall needs to get seriously into the digital world. Dont get me wrong I am complete fine with a 100 watt 1959HD, for me that is the best guitar amp ever built and all I need, but Marshall really needs to evolve and start considering things like AI. Maybe they could partner with a company already doing A/R in this new domain. They should have had theyre own Fractal, Kemper, Tonex years ago. They really need someone that can keep the costs down and advance it technolgies up. Its a shame but Marshall is in danger of being no more.
From all I can tell the modded 2203 isn't handwired. Just a PCB. Which is fine by me, but charging nearly 2x as much over the 2203x for these basic mods seems silly, at least based on what I've seen. I'm personally not too fond of all the gizmos in a tube amp I like them simple but I'd also expect them to be priced as such.

They´ve already tried going down the modeler route,- it failed and was discontinued as the sound of their modeling was fifteen years too old compared to the competition and like the early transistor amps of the sixties harsh sounding and grating on the ears.

I don't get the pricing of these modified amps, it almost twice the price of an regular. And the pedals are too big without reason. Among the best miab is Xotic sl drive and it's 1/3 of the size. The first contender that comes to mind when thinking of the modded 1959 is Friedmans upcoming Arrendondo which will cost exactly the same with all the mods plus an extra tube stage.

The JMP/Plexi not having an fx loop is fine. The way the amp is designed the fx loop on them sucks ass anyway. I have one on my Modded SLP100 clone and it is total garbage. Just easier to run everything up front, including delays and reverbs. Or after the speaker, which is easier said than done.

Problem is today Marshall is a company that manufactures life style accessories with amp production as a side line. They´ve side tracked themselves a long time ago, lost their core customer base and is currently trying to gain ( pun intented) it back by releasing wanna be modern products that almost - read almost - cater to the sensibillities of the modern guitar world. Been a Marshall devotee since the mid seventies( yes, I´m that old),- but not anymore,- lost me the day I saw the first teenybobber with a pair of Marshall headphones going down the street texting her friends. Management needs to refind the core values that built Marshall ( or hire a new management with a background in production for the performing arts) and start getting into producing gear for actual musicians again,- otherwise I fear this is just the beginning of a slow and agonizing replication of what happened to the Titanic,- and they hit the iceberg years ago.
I was holding off buying a JVM because I was expecting them to update it given it indeed came out nearly a couple decades ago, and there were reports of things changing in the company and cool new gear coming out it 2025, so I'm disappointed at this lineup announcement, it all seems meh.
The new JCM800 amp is $3,300. Which is nuts.
Marshall needs to re-issue the 8100 ValveState, and put a $799 pricetag on it.

Management needs to refind the core values that built Marshall ( or hire a new management with a background in production for the performing arts) and start getting into producing gear for actual musicians again,- otherwise I fear this is just the beginning of a slow and agonizing replication of what happened to the Titanic,- and they hit the iceberg years ago.
Agree. I absolutely love the tones but the feature set is so ancient but almost modern just weird imo

I was holding off buying a JVM because I was expecting them to update it given it indeed came out nearly a couple decades ago, and there were reports of things changing in the company and cool new gear coming out it 2025, so I'm disappointed at this lineup announcement, it all seems meh.
