Instead of putting that black and white ramp into the factor of that Mix node after the HSV you could just flip it and put that gradient into the Fac of the HSV node directly :)
If you're using the new hair systems in Blender 3.3+, you have to have the Interpolate Geometry Tree/Node on the hair, it doesn't work with just children it seems. Thank you for the awesome tutorial!
Thx bro that was great tip 💚 In the future, when you make this type of videos , it will be great to make a final show to the node at the end of the video
buddy what a great tutorial. and where did this curve info node come from? there is no way it has always been there? i am ashamed i haven't ever used it before for my hair grooms! appreciate you SS!
Great tutorial. I was wondering whether you have done or there is (that you know of) a tutorial for producing hair that will have it's colour driven by the underlying texture upon my model? Keep up the good work.
hey! reallllly like your tutorial, just what i was looking for. can you tell me what is this addon (or whatever it is) that shows a color at the top of each node?
When I use the curves info node random output for the different hair strands, the value changes everytime the rigged mesh moves. How do I stabilise this?
@SouthernShotty Is it possible to do this but by masking out areas? like I'm making a fox. So i want to do this for the orange fur, white fur and the black fur but maybe with some bleed over and I haven't been able to figure it out. Or more simply but 3 variations of what you did but all in one material with each variation affecting only specific areas.
When I plug the Mix node into the Principled Hair BSDF color, the hair goes dark and shows no color. But plugging the BSDF with it's own color into Material Output, or the Mix node with no BSDF into Material Output, works fine. Any idea why? (in Eevee BTW)
Sooo... you're GOING AHEAD with GOING AHEAD, I got that right? Jeez do you ever relisten to what you've recorded? 98% of what you say is "I'll go ahead and...". Incredibly annoying.

This little details really added more life to the hair.
You forgot to link the hair video.

Awesome video! Where's the link for the making of the hair tutorial?
I was doing them very wrong, the curves info node is a great help!
some of the best tutorials!

appreciate you SS!
Sorry, but I can't find a link for another hair tutorial. Can you please help me with this?
One of my best youtubers❣
keep going my friend😀
Great info, the hair looks fabulous! I'd also like to see the other hair tutorial you mention, please :)
Dude, you're the man for this one!
Awesome tip, didn't know about that node!
Another Banger of knowledge!

absolute legend
Brilliant lesson!
4:00 Did you mean Melanin?
Very cool. Question, do you rig the clay mouths this character has for lip sync? If so, how?
tl/dr
use Curve info as input for masking/variating
Also curious about the hair setup. I think you forgot to link it :)
Great lesson, very well done!
This is so cool and looks great!!!
this is great. thanx!
Very cool tutorial! THank you :D
Loved the tutorial, but there's no ending... it just cuts to an advert.

One question - can you then convert this to mesh and bake the materials?
When I use the curves info node random output for the different hair strands, the value changes everytime the rigged mesh moves. How do I stabilise this?
Is there any way to simulate the hair node already or is it still only for particles hair?

Very nice video. Just wondering: what is the advantage of using two curve info nodes? Can't you just branch out the info from a single one?
other than for looks there is no real advantage
which addon is that showing the node output preview on top of it?
Can you make this hair a mesh? I wonder is I could use it as a displacement map for a game engine
is it responseble to force fields? I geometry nodes system and simulataion by emmiter can both work with forcefields?? >

I have the same problem
Try a diffused BSDF instead of the Hair bsdf
Nice
"Melantonin"
Melatonin is a neurotransmitter that regulates sleep. Melanin the pigment that darkens skin and hair.
love the vids & tuts hate the bg music so loud and interfering with your voice
how do we chop nodes? 5:22
Hold shift and then use right click to chop nodes( hold shift and right mouse button and drag mouse to chop nodes
wristless hair material? slurring... can''t understand what you said.
How to get this idea in eevee? 😅
my fur isnt even visible on cycles
Melanin = color that turns your hair or skin darker. Melatonin = drug you take in order to help you sleep. ;)
👍👍
*melanin not melantonin
2:08 briefly Chinese haha
Uhhh... where's the hair video?
your thumbnail actually show a diffuse bsdf compared to the after and not the principle hair bsdf. LIES.
That music is super annoying...
Melanin. Not melatonin. Good video though.

thank you so much @southernshotty
