Born and raised in Huntsville. The hood is definitely here in Huntsville, but it could be much, much worse. Sadly, a lot of public housing has been torn down in recent years, which sucks because people are getting vouchers from the city government to live in housing FAR away from the places they work. The Black community has been done wrong throughout the city with segregation and racist zoning in the past, but because the cost of living has historically been cheaper in HSV, many Black families that were in the hood from the 1960s-1990s have been able to get property and out of the hood. I will also mention that A LOT of white folks in the surrounding rural areas, whether in Huntsville or outside of it, are not doing well although they don't live in the "hood" - the opioid "crisis" is kicking their asses.
I luv Huntsville! As a black woman living in Chicago and California I know hoods.... Alot of gentrification going on. Black folks keep your parents and grandparents home! DO NOT or let them tax you out.... I really like the Harvest area and Madison developments. North Huntsville will be prime real estate
Nikia O'Hearn I lived in Southern California for a few and can attest to the fact that the hood out there is much worse shape than in Huntsville, which is still sad. My family still lives in Huntsville and consistently get emails, text messages, and mailers asking if they want to sell their home. It’s not happening. With the FBI coming to Huntsville, property values will skyrocket in a few years. Now is the absolute worst time for anyone in North Huntsville to sell, as it will be prime real estate. I lived in Harvest for a couple of years of growing up and it’s all right, just even more boring than the city is. Madison is cool as well.
P J There is absolutely a lot of racism that happens in the city. It’s still Alabama. What I’ve seen in southern Alabama is worse, but that does not absolve the level of racism in Huntsville.
I live in Huntsville. I don't think you quite understand what a "hood" is. Just because a neighborhood is predominantly black that doesn't make it bad.
And you're racist, because you assume I think that an area that's black makes it a hood. A hood usually means one of the older, poorer, sometimes crowded, more ran down parts of town. A hood is relative to the city your in. What is considered hood in one city might be a nice neighborhood in another.
CharlieBo313 seriously, a real ‘hood is a place like some of the old suburbs of Detroit. Street after street of sad abandoned houses. Places where love and warmth once nurtured families are now temporarily home to the hopeless street denizen. Places where crime is literally the only economic engine. Places where you wouldn’t walk down the street in broad saylight.. Those are real ‘hoods. Not just an older, economically depressed area.
Anywhere can seem calm during the day. My mom always said before moving into a new place do a drive by during the night and you may rethink moving there lol Although Huntsville really not that hood compared to other places.
We just Good ole Loving Southern Folks 🤣 And the Hood just look like Ghost Town right now Eveybody chilling nothing jumping but police Riding half the time Just gotta Stay to self away from Trouble ya know
Thanks for the tour of Huntsville’s public housing. That looks pretty nice the streets are clean, no loitering, graffiti, abandoned vehicles. I’ve seen worse homes in the rural country with junkyards on their properties guarded by loose dogs, dilapidated homes.
I agree. Moved here from Connecticut in 18 due to health reasons. I absolutely love it here. It was the best decision for my children and myself. The schools and drs arw amazing.
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas but lived in Huntsville, Alabama from 2000 to 2003 elementary school years. I went back to my hometown leaving Alabama... but then in 2017 I drove from Houston to Downtown Atlanta to attend a furry con @ Marriott Marquis. Once that was over with, I decided to take the long way back home to Houston by driving through Huntsville. It was the first time I've been there in 15 years and NOTHING changed! Everything was still the same, except my former apartments looked way worse and rundown - and they added some new buildings to the school I went to. I was sad to see my neighborhood went downhill but it was interesting seeing my old childhood city that I had so many fond memories of.
Love Huntsville! I’m thinking of moving away some day, but I feel like this is probably the place to be over the next several years. It’s boomed (esp Madison where I used to live) like crazy over the last 15 years I’ve lived here and it’s only getting bigger!

Born and raised here. Lived long enough to see my old middle school become a beer brewery. Great place to live Hood or not. People here are raised to respect each other which makes it such a great place to live. The only problem I see now is so many people want to move here it's just getting so over crowded, it shouldn't take an hour to go to the store 10 minutes away that's only thing bad I can say about it. Where you see them playing ball there at the church that little brown house across the street with the white van in front, my granddad bought that little brown house when he came back from the army. Back when it was all farm land. He lived there and raised kids and grand kids there untill he died just this last year. I havent been able to bring my self to go back over there yet but it was nice that the church hasn't tore it down as they promised. I'm Happy I came across your video. Look like a good place too live if you mind your business. A lil kid told you have a nice day even though you interrupted they game being nosey ijs what’s the the point
We don’t really have “bad” hoods in Huntsville lol. Especially compared to other cities. ☺️
It didn't look bad. I liked that the little boy said, have a nice day @ 4:20. Looks like a pretty nice place.
it looks decent yea
Bobby Douglas !! You haven’t traveled much out have u?? Born & raised here- but still.. there’s much much HARDER places !!
😂😂😂😂 dats a lie
Bobby Douglas I’m moving there soon, and it isn’t even comparable, you live in a nice area. Be happy there isn’t rampant poverty
Not a rough city at all!! Grew up there most of my life
Born and raised in Huntsville.
Thanks for sharing. Considering moving here
It is a VERY racist city.
Worse than in the 60s.
I moved to Huntsville 2 years ago and their “hoods” are minor in comparison to the NY/NJ hoods I am used to.
Jersey hoods is another world lol
@@BLouieMusic Newark is the bowels of the hood. You’re lucky if you get out alive!!!
Super facts! I’m from NJ not to far from Camden and Trenton. AL doesn’t know what a hood is lol
@@lawrencesmith1985 lmfao you sound delusional ASF..
NY really safe tbh
Lived there for 30 years, kids and grands still do. I wouldn’t call section 8 housing a “hood”, not in Huntsville anyway.
really? they are projects! its not that bad there? we were just there.. by the way what a nice town
They come out at night and it’s not quiet at night😹
I live in Huntsville. I don't think you quite understand what a "hood" is. Just because a neighborhood is predominantly black that doesn't make it bad.
And you're racist, because you assume I think that an area that's black makes it a hood. A hood usually means one of the older, poorer, sometimes crowded, more ran down parts of town. A hood is relative to the city your in. What is considered hood in one city might be a nice neighborhood in another.
@@CharlieBo313 I'm racist? Oh no! I won't recover from the emotional scarring. 😀
No we don't want that, you're already intellectually scarred.
We just Good ole Loving Southern Folks 🤣 And the Hood just look like Ghost Town right now Eveybody chilling nothing jumping but police Riding half the time Just gotta Stay to self away from Trouble ya know
💯💯💯💯
Thanks for the tour of Huntsville’s public housing. That looks pretty nice the streets are clean, no loitering, graffiti, abandoned vehicles. I’ve seen worse homes in the rural country with junkyards on their properties guarded by loose dogs, dilapidated homes.

Huntsville is a nice decent place to live ! !

Once this Coliseum Amphitheater gets built and Big artists are here regularly it’ll be too Lit.
growth is NOT always good.. it ruins places.. brings in too many people who are not all fit for nice stuff LOL - i will say its growing very fast and they had CUBAN FOOD!
SOUTHERN LIFE yea its a melting pot so everyone that moves here ends up franchising their hometown fav restaurants or start their own.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Oh I definitely agree, there are definitely some growing pains. I live outside of the city though, thankfully, so I'm able to enjoy all the new things to do and places to see...then retreat out to the peace and quiet of the county haha. This is one of the nicest well kept hoods I've ever seen.
Decent looking compared to many cities I've seen. Good job Hville not ravaging your hoods
Compare to Detroit's East Side and Brightmoor area. This area of Huntsville is struggling but there is still hope compared to the abandoned
neighborhoods of Detroit.

Did you go through Mason Ct, or Butler Terrace, or the HOLE as it’s called way down off Patton Rd and Troy Swaysey rd. I’ve lived in Huntsville most of my life. It’s a very nice place to live. There is a couple rougher areas of the city but compared to Birmingham,Memphis and Atlanta it’s a walk in the park!
Where are these rough areas at? Because I’m moving from out of state looking for decent priced apartments that aren’t in rough areas.
@@ShepherdMinistry Rough areas I would say is north Huntsville. Also Sparkman dr,Jordan ln,bob Wallace, drake ave, triana Blvd, and Holmes ave. But these areas aren’t as bad as most cities.

I live in Huntsville. It doesn't have any bad hoods. It did in the 80s though. Mason Court was the worst. Even that is tame now. None of the areas you are driving through are bad areas. Just because it's project housing doesn't mean it's bad.
Lmaoooo the title tho!! 👏🏻👏🏻

Montgomery is so much worse. Huntsville really isn’t bad, most neighborhoods are well kept up in the city. Now go out into the county and check out the meth trailer parks. That’s where the scary stuff is at

Absolutely THEFUCKnot... not iPhone listening to my conversation yesterday when I asked my dad..”is this the hood of Huntsville “... now this is all of a sudden in my recommendations
Doesn't look too bad, seems kind of average and clean
Huntsville's hoods are relatively okay. It still goes down like many others (im not from them but that's my hometown ) but yeah i drive through all the time, very rarely feel threatened but you can get messed up if you start smoking crack or soemthing
I just get my smoke from there it’s not that bad
Just farted yep i sure did you welcome😂😁
There are no hoods in Huntsville. I am a rich Asian kid from Madison. I graduated from Bob Jones HS, now I am getting my Engineering degree at Stanford.
Exactly why you don't know the hoods!😂
I was wondering if Charlie was ever going to come through Huntsvegas ~ cheers m8 glad to see you check out my home town!
Just moved here lol and this pops on my recommended overall Huntsville doesn’t have much crime as most places from what I’ve heard and seen
I was there from 2015-2018 & the toughest parts of Huntsville are Sparkman dr/Bonnell Dr. & Mastin Lake. Bob Wallace Ave is ok & parts of Jordan Lane are quiet as well. One thing I liked about it,the cost of living is low. $590 for a 2 bedroom apartment? You can't go wrong with that
@ J.Smith Welcome to the Rocket City!!! 🚀 I was born & raised in Huntsville.... crime is more present here than you know. First 48 has reached out to our Mayor on several occasions & the mayor declined because he didn't want the city viewed in a negative light.
@@marymurphy8630
They reached out twice & the crime is something serious in Huntsville
@Craig Smith it most definitely is serious! It's worst than when I was a kid. There are certain areas I won't dare go....especially at night.
The only crime here is always a random 2 ppl that beef with each other
I was confused at first because i actually love in huntsville. In no one ever comes down here but this not the hoods. You need to go to butler or Terry Heights.
I've lived in Huntersville my whole life. The worst thing about Huntersville is cops pull you over 4 cars deep and they to quick to judge if your not the race that live in certain areas. My brother live on the middle of meadow hills and cops always pull me over when I leave his house.
I used to live in Huntsville from 2015-2018 & Academy Dr. Bonnell off of Sparkman Dr & Mastin Lake are the roughest ESPECIALLY Mastin Lake.
I was raised off Martin Lake
Yes sir, Mastin Lake is seedy. When I first moved here I used to take Mastin Lake to get on Memorial Parkway to go to work in the morning. I used to cringe every time I had to drive that way too.
Lol Mastin Lake is definitely not the roughest
Ain't shit rough about mastin lake but the roads lol y'all probably never even drove on medaris before for sure

If nothing else just for that, I thank you.
I take it you attended Stone middle school
Our hoods are not like others
Trust me growing up in Baltimore was rough. No one should brag about enjoying the notoriety of living in a dangerous place. Its nothing to glamorize. That's crazy.
