    I like how you presented yourself with the white background. It helps keep the focus to what you are working on at the table. 👍🏻 Great info! If possible to condense into a shorter time frame- even better! Your meadows are absolutely vast and gorgeous! 💖 very captivating to watch sway in the wind. Good luck 🍀 with your season 🌟All the Best!

    I had the weirdest cosmos last year. I started them from seed in April and they grew fine. I planted them out in the garden in full sun in late May. No blossoms until early September. Thankfully we had no frost yet. They were all stalk and very tall. When they finally bloomed. it was a haven for the bees. Just wondered why they were so late to flower.

    Such wonderful information. To me cosmos in a bouquet brings in a touch of sweet softness because of being so delicate. God bless I pray y'all have an outstanding amazing year.

    I love how we get a celebration when we hit the like button so I always hit it now unless I hate it. Love this topic,
    I want to grow the double cosmos this year but I’ve had incredible luck with them very easy and so carefree and beautiful great for a cottage style which is my style. Only issue for me is the short vase life. But so pretty even to just keep outside!

    Great info.! Love cosmos. It always seems to get ahead of me.. too far gone to use it. When I pick for market at the end of the week; alot of it is has already gone too far down the road. Our wed. market closed...so I need another outlet. I'm having some waste only picking for one . Just over 1/2 acre here. Enough for a retired flower hippie . I am also needing to work smarter/not harder!!!! Really enjoy your farm and videos. Pray for good season for you!

    Thanks! Very helpful! I usually just grow food, but this year I am trying 4 different varieties of cosmos - Sensation Mix from the dollar store, Xanthos, Apricotta, and Rubenza. I also bought a few types of Zinnias because they're also supposed to be easy. 😂

    They were one of my 1st flowers I started with now if I could get the hang of Lisianthus.

    I mentioned this in another video but I think it was an older one so I’ll mention it here again :)
    I’ve watched several of your videos and nowhere can I find what zone you are ??? Sorry, it’s frustrating to watch videos on any kind of gardening that doesn’t state their zone, as if growing things is the same for everyone, because it is not !
    I’m a vegetable gardener so I know a little, but not a whole lot about flowers, inexperienced gardeners have no clue. I live in zone 3 and have met people who think they can put a tomato seed in the ground in June and have tomatoes by first frost 😏
    People learning need to know your zone !!!
    Thanks and all the best to you and your rebuild !

    How much ground prep does Adam do on his Cosmos wildflower installations? I live in Zone 7b in north Mississippi and have a couple of ditch banks that I want to quit mowing. I don't need to spray the grass to kill it due to erosion, but I could use a Mantis aerator to get some soil contact after I mow/weed-eat it down to the ground. I thought I could go with a cosmos/zinnia mix on those. Thoughts or suggestions? The other plots that I plan to incorporate will be on level ground where I can lightly till to make soil contact and we can rake out the grass/weeds. I just have to be extra careful on the slopes and wondered if you could offer advice. I enjoy your videos and am glad to see your rebuilding process going well. Keep up the great work, Jenn and Adam!

    • @PepperHarrow
      @PepperHarrow  2 роки тому +1

      I prep our flat areas pretty well because of our weed pressure. Mowing as low as possible and some spot aeration with the mantis would work. Cosmos seed will on the surface with good soil contact. Just make sure to water well until sprouted.

      @@PepperHarrow Many thanks Adam, I knew I had to be careful with the slopes. I can prep the flat areas near my garden much better and rake out the grass and weeds. I may even try to solarize one spot with plastic to neutralize the weeds. I appreciate your work, keep telling us about your farm and tips for us to practice.

    Hi Jen, Thank you so much for your inspiration. After devastating flooding I was looking for a quick answer to fix our backyard for our daughters wedding. I saw your Cosmos field and wildly scattered cosmos seed in the mud. It has gone gang busters but is now so prolific I can't pinch them out and it's also budding on stalks about 40cms tall, 7 weeks too early. From your experience, if I go to the effort of cutting off the flower buds will they reflower in 7 weeks? Are they a one flower wonder if I don't pinch? They were cast so close in my frenzy of hoping something would be successful. Kym

    • @PepperHarrow
      @PepperHarrow  2 роки тому

      Not sure about exactly 7 weeks, but if you deadhead them they will keep blooming if you’re not experiencing extreme heat.

    • @kymlilley7248

      Thank you for such a quick reply. I was thinking that you don't deadhead your large wild field of Cosmos? and if this was the case are you able to tell me how long your field flowers for?

    I live in hot and humid country. I tried planting purple cosmos before, it rose up to one feet flowering one flower and died. I'm not sure, is the soil or environment?

    • @franceswatts4001
      @franceswatts4001 4 місяці тому

      I grew up in southern Africa in various areas (very hot and humid in some places I lived, hot and dry in others) and cosmos was a weed there. It grew everywhere - except the dark red and purple ones. For some reason these do not do well. Perhaps because they are not the natural colours of white and pink, but specifically bred for their colour.
