      I don't know what your personal life is like and what kind of journey you wanna take or the kind of pressures you're under but I can say, please don't be afraid of not getting in! I had my second year of Auditions this year after getting straight up rejections from everywhere last year! This year Ive been offered different foundation course options, and am auditioning for BAs again next year. I also know several people who auditioned for Musical Theatre BAs who got offers for Foundations such as the Urdang 2 term foundation who have also had a second year to Audition for BAs. Everyone is on their own path and their own journey and the most important part is to not give up! Rejections suck but they're part of the industry and an opportunity for you to grow, recognise how you can improve and develop your skills. I've made videos about this on my channel if you wanna know but, but either way I wish you the bestest of luck! Xxxx

      Don't be scared, took me 3 years to get in. It's SO hard to get in, you most likely will not get in first year. That is the reality. Only two people in my year got in first time applying. Years out are the most positive thing. You are trying to display human life, how can you do that if you haven't lived? Sometimes you need time to mature and then come back. You will get more out of your training if you do it when you're older. Trusttt.

    Definitely know what you mean about just having a gut feeling about places - got it for my university (not for theatre) and it turned out to be a perfect fit! Had it again on Saturday when I was at an MA audition (MT this time), it just felt so right. Although I thought the audition went well so that probably/definitely means I’m not getting in 😅😅

Also what course in Mt did you do did you go straight into HND or BA?

      I went to a drama school in the UK, (I'm from Norway) and it seems like it really depends on what course, school and what your proficiency of english is. For a dance degree perfect english is obviously less important than for a pure acting degree.

    do you have any advice for someone who wants to go to drama school but simply can not afford it and in the future they want to be on the west end?

    • @RachelHeritage
      @RachelHeritage 5 років тому +3

      Hi there! Surfing through the comments as a drama school auditionee myself and thought I could help answer this question. Some schools who are accredited by university do only charge £9k a year and therefore you can get a full student loan to cover the cost alongside maintenance, just like you would get for a regular uni. Schools that do this include GSA and Royal Central. Also a lot of musical theatre schools offer their own scholarships offered based on both talent and financial hardship. The government 'Dance and Drama Award' is also a scholarship available for a lot of schools including ArtsEd and Italia Conti that fully covers loans and I think some maintenance. You also really don't have to apply straight out of school, a lot a lot of people apply a few years after in order to spend a few years working to raise some money to cover costs - I personally am on my second year of auditioning and all the money I've saved this year is going in the fees for my foundation next year. Everyone's on their own journey and path and yes drama school can very inaccessible to people (like myself) from low income backgrounds but you can make it work and trust me, in terms of scholarships, if the school wants you they will try their best to make it work from their side too. Oh and also for auditions most schools run fee waiver (free audition) programs which you can apply for, they can be complicated but it's still an option and it does not affect your chances of getting a recall at all!

    • @phoebemason9183
      @phoebemason9183 5 років тому +1

      Rachel Heritage thank you for that it has helped a lot! I’m only 13 but thinking about my future and I would love to go arts ed or mount view but my family isn’t doing great at the minute and we are skint for money so I have no clue how I could get it and not afford any of the fees. when I’m older all I want to do it be on the west end and go drama school but I just don’t know how to get there.

    • @RachelHeritage
      @RachelHeritage 5 років тому +1

      @@phoebemason9183 I'm sure you'll get there, do not stress so much now! I know it sounds super patronising and I really hate - even at 18 - when people say this to me but you are so young and you have so much time to work things out. In all the years you have leading up to the time you apply you can benefit from the support of your school while making sure to improve your craft - I think that is the most important part right now. Never allow yourself or anyone else to deny you the opportunity to not pursue your dreams because of your financial situation. The industry is changing every single day to grant more and more access to people from financial hardship, the best you can do is to just do what you love xxxx
