I’ve had 3 auditions this month for BA Hons in Musical Theatre. The first was Edge Hill University and I got a place, the second was Blackpool and the Fylde and I got a place and then my final one was Leeds College of Music and I’m on the reserve list. I was going to apply for Mountview but I realised it’s too big of a change for me and I’d rather train locally then decide afterwards what I’m doing 😊
I have been auditioning for MT at drama schools for the last 4 years (well 3 technically, I took a year off to work on my technique before trying again this year) and I am half way through auditions at the moment (3 MT schools and 2 Acting schools). I had some suggestions from teachers to go for Acting courses as acting is my strongest of the three, and have managed to get a call back from BOVTS which is so insane but a part of me thinks I would be a little bit sad if I had put in 4 years of effort to not get anywhere with MT. I have my upcoming Arts Ed audition in feb which is my dream school but I am trying to not put too much pressure on myself. I end up panicking before an MT audition and unable to breathe but with the acting schools just walk in as though its nothing. Long story short I am tired of gap years and want to get in so badly this year but just don't know how to not put pressure on myself :(

Not Any Experience I’m by no means an actor either- I didn’t even take GCSE or A Level drama and my strengths definitely lie in the singing and dancing. I still got a recall for GSA though so just a lack of acting experience won’t mean that you will struggle to get into places. They just look for potential, so my advice would be definitely give it a try! x
Emma Greenman I just had my recall on Saturday. It was really good we did the dance class, then the singing (they will take the song from the list first but make sure the other is ready to go in case) then the monologues. I’d say for the monologues. Then after the monologues they asked 6 of us (20) in total to stay for an interview. It didn’t go on for as long as they said it might, I think we were all out by 4:30 and lots of people before that. Hope that helps!!
Emma Greenman they sat us all in a circle and there was no order that we had to go in, you just had to feel when it was your turn. It turned out alright though, everybody sort of figured out when to go and it was quite a fun exercise x

I love how you say be yourself. But how can you be yourself when your acting a monologue of a character?
It’s still your version of the character. For example, your version of Eponine (or Marius) will be entirely different to someone else’s.

I know that both have good musical theatre programs
(But i don t know about the acting program)
