    Some of my best and worst memories were onboard this ship. Always manned by a great crew from CO down. Out of the ships I served on nothing compared to this old girl there really is a kinship of anyone who served on her from Navy Army and Airforce there was just something so special about the old girl.

      Lolno the ship is almost 40 years old. Outdated old and broken, decommissioning was definitely the way to go.

      @hevendor958 4 роки тому +2

      the ship wasn't even outdated or neither broken
      the ship was launched in 1980 and was scuttled as a reef in 2018
      you need to go check your history luke jakovcevic

    What the hell was the point in sinking it on its side? Surely it would have been better to have it on the bottom upright?

      They stuffed up. It was meant to sit upright on the sea bed. I have dived it and can say that its still a great dive site. If anything it looks like a real wreck compared to ex HMAS Brisbane.

      @@adonkeyoncrack It was a well built viable ship that should have been placed in reserve. With the current political climate and tensions over china/taiwan, it is conceivable that we my need it. Instead we made it a playground for a handful of meatheads with scuba tanks.

    Waste of $89,000,000. For only 34 years of service.Could of least scrapped it and made at least $500,000 on ferrous metal alone.
