The star of the show is back!! 🤩 (not me, the 322 of course…)
And with a well-placed Basil Fawlty quote, too! Always a winner! 😀
I too said I wasn’t going to change the interior lights, but I did. I also put the projector lights in the front doors.
Sam it seems the more i watch your videos the more i long for a L322 4.4TDV8 so much so i'm seriously looking for one love the way you explain things and make repairs and fitting the upgrades look so simple p.s love your soldering wire holder never seen one before keep up the good work 😏
Also get the headlamp restore kit what a difference the before and after! Yellow weathered and pitted. To clear and pristine. But does take a bit if elbow grease
I literally just got rid of my supercharged 2012 L322. After one repair after the other the engine blew this week. A car that has been properly maintained and owned by me for less than 2 years. Good luck with yours.
Tasteful upgrades 👍
I think your call with the warmer LEDs is a great call. I have black interior P38 so I fitted the white ones to give a bit more light but they do not look right.
Nice. I did all my interior ones in the bright white versions which I prefer to the yellows ones. Missed out the glovebox one. Looks a right swine to do 😅
Congratulations getting to 20k and another good video 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cheers Jimmy!
Nice of you to join us Sam 😂
Great upgrades and great video. 👏👍
I also have a Saab 9000 CD. It has "reading" lights for the rear seats on each side behind the rear doors. Very convenient and efficient. It shines directly on what you have in your hands, not somewhere in the middle of your eyes, ineffectively.
Will have to look. Maybe something like that can be put in L322 as well.
Great video! As ever! I'm the same, hate the cold white LED's but these look great!
Your knowledge is just amazing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great vid, Keep an eye on the third brake light, I had to replace one I fitted after 3 months due to it failing and giving out 1 candle power. Thankyou for showing the knee level footwell bulb change, The only one I have left to change over on mine, but mine seemed to be a lot tighter than yours so I bottled it. The RR puddle lights are bling, But I like them on mine. I agree the light temp looks better on yours, mine are really blue white. Cheers
Great ideas and video cheers. 👍👍👍👍👍
Wow this is amazing
Great video, the snow is here in Scotland too! -8oC today. Love the RR content :)
Next challenge - do the door lights! Little lights behind the door release and in the armrest. Need to do those.. but looks like a job and a half.
I think these are LEDs already aren’t they?
Love it. Still on the hunt for a LHD one.
I’ve got the 2010 3.6 sport when I got it in march of this year I found it had a recall for the rear spoiler it had a new 1 with camera fitted free
Dolny Śląsk jest PRZEPIĘKNY!!!
Thanks again for the video! The links appear to be dead… any chance you’ve got newer ones?
Anyone know where to get the 4300k led bulbs the link doesn't work?
Well done Sam. I look forward to your videos very much!
Cheers Jerry! How's your Rangie going?
Hey Sam, I had to get my air compressor replaced recently. I wasn’t brave enough to attempt it myself. Thankfully I have a good LR Specialist near me that is way cheaper than the dealer, but still does a great job. For fun stuff, I got a rear ladder to put on. I’m a bit nervous drilling into the body, but one of these days, I will get it on. I am getting a Service Required message on the dash. I purchased the iCarSoft LR 3.0 scan tool to hopefully clear it. Thanks for checking in on me.
I’m about to upgrade to a L405 4.4 I upgraded the cabin lights on my XF with ice blue leds to match the door cards looks more classy
Great job Sam. P38 videos please!!!
What did the missus have to say about them? I think you've struck the right balance between on the colour temperature, I know on my Disco 2 I put the LEDs in and it made such a difference to whether or not I could actually see or not
I will be keen to hear how long the RR projector puddle lights last before burning out - I've found they only last about 3 months on my L322. Mind you, even as a "consumable item" at less than £10 delivered I'm now tempted to try again....!
This amazing Sam. I currently have white LEDs but want to revert to warm ones.
May I ask about the AliEx kit though. It seems to be short the bulbs for the footwells and also the courtesy lights in the dash under the vents.
What did you do for them ?
Thank you.
Those rear LED roof lights are hideous mate! But I do like the channel.
They're there for function (reverse lights and work lights), and I don't think they look bad.
And replace the standard range rover lettering on the bonnet and tailgate with range rover sv lettering with black turned inlay. Sutle but noticable. And get gloss black vouge lettering and silver se lettering . And a brushed alloy bonnet air vent cover . Very easy to fit
And 2012 westminster black gloss wing vents also eady to fit. Finally get a 2012 colour coded surround grill . The standard is grey. The westminster has black surround. And if course the full led upgrade . All of which i did on my 2010 santorini black vouge se
ooh , Sam made 20k subs .. congrats
Those warmer bulbs on sun shades are listed on AliExpress as a white? Because I can see only white and cold ice option.
I couldn’t get those LED high beam to fit in the 2007 lights
Fresh update how your l322 is running please 😍
Upgrading the tail LED stop lamp to make it look better and yet you have those god awful led reverse lights or lamps or whatever they are perched up on each side. Interesting. Still the Range Rover TDV8 is a beautiful car and I do enjoy watching you work on it.
Excellent video. I might give the internal lights a go. Let’s hope I don’t botch it 😮
Go for it, what’s the worst that can happen? 😈
Another upgrade is the sv turned alloy armrest adjustors. About 80 quid but they really look good
Did them in the previous upgrades episode. €30 from AliExpress for the same thing 🤙
I was so excited about the interior lights I forgot to say another thanks for the brake light - mine has condensation inside so wanted a viable alternative and the logo puddle lights are ace too. I had the official Audi rings at vast expense on a previous car before they were copied on eBay etc.
Did you put them on the rear doors too? I thought the projection angle would be off too much for the rears?
Glad I could help! It's amazing how cheap and readily available all these bits are.
I did try them in the rear doors and as you say the angle isn't right for them. When the doors are shut though, they project onto the rear passenger floor (a distorted image, but still!).
Hi Sam, thanks for the L322 videos, I’ve learned a lot. Have you ever considered upgrading the reversing camera to a version with night vision? I’ve upgraded the reversing lights on mine to bright white LEDs but it still doesn’t really cut the mustard. I’m now considering a night vision reversing camera…. but the like for like replacements I’ve found are expensive at around £200.
Hey Steve, cheers for the comment!
Regarding the camera - mines actually ok in the dark now - but only because of my super bright reverse lights! Before that, it was more or less useless.
Good video and choice of light color.
Have you got a link for the holder used when soldering?
Like the best ideas it's simple but I can see it making soldering so much easier.
Cheers! It’s actually something I 3D printed. If you’re interested, I’ll send you a link to the STL file!
@@SamsMotors
Yes please.
I have a nephew who is into 3d printing 👍

@@SamsMotors Thanks
Sam did the map lights actually work? Didn’t look like they illuminated?
Hi Sam, really like these cheap upgrade videos, please keep them coming. Can you remind me of the link for the trim tools? Season's Greetings!
Glad they’re enjoyable! If you have look in the video description there is a link to my Amazon affiliate page. I’ve got lists of useful items on there - including the trim tools.
Cheers!
I am planning to get L322 2008 facelift. Here in middle east, the lower dashboard section under the stearing wheel are tend to break due to high temperatures. Any solution or cheap replacement ideas for that? Please make a video if possible.
It's not a problem I've ever heard of on this side of the world. Maybe tint or cover the windows to try and keep the interior cooler?
Another great video, glad you’re back! Do your interior LEDs under the dash flicker when starting? Mine do since my own LED upgrade many months back so not sure if this is normal and if not, what’s the likely cause?
Cheers! Glad you enjoyed it!
Mine do the same thing. It's just as the battery voltage momentarily drops down when the starter is cranking so it knocks out the LEDs. Totally normal!
Sam
No canbus on the led if you have an iid obd scanner you can turn off the hot and cold option
Link for the LED's seems broken btw?
I wish I’d gone for a newer one I got 2007.
Sam is the link for the super bright boot lights we spoke about earlier in the previous video?
Yeah it is 👍
Hi Sam, is there much to changing the start/stop button. Mine has a big hole in it. Thanks
I think it's a pretty easy job actually, LucyOnCars did it recently without much prior knowledge.
Thanks Sam.
Love your videos on the L322.
My L322 has DPF issues, it’s on 115k miles. Any ideas?
Cheers! DPF issues - doing lots of short trips?
Otherwise, the DPF can be clogged by leaks in the boost pipes or inlet manifold/donut which upsets the system.
hi Sam, on aside how did you finding importing the l322 into Ireland. Im based in UK and have a l322 4.4 pterol 2005 with only 150 on her but has a lpg conversion so not so bad running it. Be nice to know how you got on import duty etc if you dont mind. I have her over 6 months and would be moving to ireland
Hey Shane,
It wasn’t bad at all really. First job is to apply for VRT exemption through Revenue (can do that online), requires a few documents to prove that you owned it in the UK and will be moving over etc.
Once you have exemption letter, just need to take it for VRT inspection at the NCT centre, get some plates made up then get it tested.
Hi Sam, did you manage to resolve the problem you had with the off side door mirror light (that failed after upgrading to LED)? I did the same upgrade and also had the off side light fail - is that just a coincidence or is there some other issue? Cheers. Kevin
Hi Kevin, no I haven't. Someone else commented that they had the same issue and that it was a failing of the BECM, so I'm not sure exactly what's going on unfortunately.
@@SamsMotors Hi Sam, thanks for the update. If you do come across a fix for the problem that doesn't involve replacing the BECM please post it. Thanks. Kevin
Sam do any of these upgrades cause canbus errors.
No, all good 👍
Have you checked the rear arches and sills for rust?
That’s actually this weekend’s job along with a full rust killer and undercoat treatment. Watch this space!!
@@SamsMotors good, I keep thinking about a L322 but the rust issues are a concern.Looking forward to seeing the next video.
I’m sure you’re running a telepathic channel - I think of a topic and Sam eerily listens, bit like FB ads, despite them “not listening”…
Can’t wait to see “this space” 👍🏻👍🏻 as my rear arches has some slight surface rust. The underside is mint, so hopefully can treat it before the gritters make their seasonal appearance.
Hi Sam
As the L322 guru can I tap your knowledge. My 2011 4.4 TDV8 has developed a steering vibration in the last month or so at approximately 70 mph. I have had the front wheels balanced and it has made no difference. There is no vibration under braking and the car is limousine smooth as ever upto motorway speeds.
At the last MOT in July it had an advisory on both Front lower suspension arm bushes as being worn. The car has only done about 3000 miles since so I can’t see that could be an issue.
Any ideas?
Hi Andy,
Before I read the 2nd part of your comment I was already thinking “lower front arms”. It’s a well known cause of vibration on the 322. If they were advised in July I’d say they’re the culprit!
Sam
@@SamsMotors cheers Sam. It’s in my local garage on Monday for a service so I’ll get those looked at.
Hi Sam
Many thanks for your input and advice.
Have now had front lower arms both sides replaced as well as wheel balancing and the wheel wobble problem is getting worse if anything. Certainly a good shake at 70 ish (feels like front of car is trying to shake itself to pieces) and sometimes from as low as 50. Also, rather strangely, it can vary depending on whether you’re going uphill or downhill, but there isn’t a consistent pattern.
Any more ideas. I’m wondering if it could be in the drivetrain somewhere? CV joint, UJ or maybe even a driveshaft.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Andy
The range rover leds print wears off quire quickly 😢
Also as I’ve got an AB I’ve got the rear vanity mirrors and my kit didn’t include those ones, so decided to leave all 8 vanity lights the standard bulbs as they’re rarely used unlike the others. I did opt for the cooler white for mine though.
Think I’ll opt for your colour temp and order more as they’re better suited aren’t they. They do still appear brighter than the old bulbs which is an improvement.
Annoyingly my rear upper boot lid lights snapped their tabs on removing. Do your super-bright ones have new lenses too? Hope so so it’ll fix my snapped ones. 👍🏻
Definitely prefer the warmer LEDs for passenger space. The white bright lights work well for showing you exactly what’s going on in the boot. Yes the replacement units are complete with lenses so the snapped tabs on your old ones won’t matter.
@@SamsMotors thanks for sharing - I agree totally. My cool white LEDs have a blue tinge to the edge of the cast illumination so not smitten on bluey ivory interior 😂
I’ve got an 08 that sadly has rust under the wheel arch. Thinking it’s time to upgrade to a year closer to Sam’s model.
My current one is the 3.6 litre. I’ve heard people say that the 4.4 does better mpg? Any truth to that? I’m getting 22 right now and although I can live with that these electric cars are turning my head financially even though I hate them :(
The 4.4 is a definite improvement over the 3.6, both in terms of power/performance and MPG. You should be able to achieve 26-28 on average and 35+ on a long run with the 4.4.
@@SamsMotors Thanks. I think I'll get one this year and use these upgrade videos to perfect it! Great vid as always
I'm so with you on not liking those football pitch floodlight style white interior lights! Have you managed to solve the brittle suspension feel issue yet?!
Football pitch floodlights is a great way to describe them haha. It's still not perfect ride wise and has good and bad days. I'm looking forward to taking it off the road when I have a garage and going through the suspension in its entirety!
What camera are you using for your vids ? Looking for a set up just picked up a cheap 4.4tdv8 also 🙈
i really don't think youtube needs any more l322 content making mate. there's loads of good stuff out there already. just enjoy the car.
You must be doing too much business for these guys - sadly there is no 4300K option now on that link, only white and blue.
Oops! Updated the link with another seller who has more of the warm LEDs. They're listed as 4500k but should be about the same!
@@SamsMotors hope so, ordered them - cheers!
@@SamsMotors Can you please update the links, current ones are not working. Thanks
