Can-am Outlander 650 DPS - 10 hour review

- This is my first video review, I left out a few things I wanted to talk about (nerves got to me) but I can't go back now. I'll get to them in our next videos.
I don't think you can get a better ATV with this much power at an "out the door" price point under 10k, but I also don't think anything made for outdoors should be as delicate as these plastics. I wish I would have known about that before my purchase, but most reviews out there are only of the XMR models. With the ATV shortages, I bought this right out of the crate.

I saw a video where they cured the can am clutch clunk with a few washers. Looked really simple. And as far as the scratches, they happen to unpainted plastics more than the painted, but try SC-1 spray. Gives it a great shine, repels water, and helps hide thOse little blemishes.
That sounds interesting, post a link please if you find it. I use SC1 mainly to make the cleanup a little easier after a ride. I don't use it if it is going to go a while without a wash as it attracts dust, silicone based I believe.
I love the Can-Am 650 you picked the best one there's no reason in the world that anyone would need more than this as an ATV this thing has 62 horsepower it's a beast I don't have one yet but I watch a lot of videos on it and you got the best one a lot of people buys the bigger ATVs because of their ego in all reality they will never use all of that horsepower there's no way that someone could use all of this horsepower either I had a 400 Polaris sportsman and I couldn't use all of that power hope you enjoy your new ATV I look forward to watching more videos from you on it
You are correct. The only advantage you get is easier wheelies. However, if you are going to put 30+ inch tires on it and hit the deepest holes, maybe then the power will help. You can always throw an aftermarket clutch in the 650 though. My wheels have never stopped and she hasn't whimpered yet. Thanks for watching my minimal effort videos. 😅👍
When's the review on the wife? I'll be tuned into that lol! Just ordered a 570 xt and don't yet have it nor have I driven one yet, but I ain't no fan of the exhaust either. Mainly gonna be used for pushing a little snow and traveling in and out of the deer woods with the bow. Great review and new sub cheers
You're trying to get me in trouble aren't you... I'll give it a go... Well when I first got her, everything was really tight, once broken in she had more bottom end than top end. Now that she is running every day her bottom and top end have equaled out but her mid range is phenomenal. 🤣 That 570 will be more than enough. I see folks turning 30 inch tires in thick mud with no issues on stock 570s. It's a twin cylinder engine so it'll have plenty of power and it's more narrow so it'll get in and out of the woods just fine.
Why not 850? I’m trying to decide before the 650 or 850
If you have the funds then there is no reason not to go for the 850, but the 650 won't let you down.
I bought the same machine, should have got the 850, I find the 650 gutless..
Good honest review. I am looking at the 570xt model. Either that or the Honda foreman.
570 xt is a nice machine. Get the best you can afford. I'm already itching for an 850.
I believe your right rear tire is mounted incorrectly
That's just how the tread pattern is on these tires, and I'm not a fan. Even if you flip it around, the tread is going in the same direction. The halves of each tire isn't mirrored, it's opposite.
Get the Max for 2 riders. The longer wheel base makes the u joints easer to grease. Fuel pump go out after 4 years
I can't even watch it through. Seriously, you thinks it's cheap because your wife has a buckle scraping it. You know it's not made for 2 people too right?
Why don't you have her rub her buckle on a new 80k car and see if it doesn't mess that up too.
Oh I agree it's an amateur review at best. It's my first video of any kind really. But it's not so much the buckle wear, you can draw on it with the top of your fingernail. I have not owned a ride this easy to scratch.
They make a coting spry u can get to protect against scratchs on plastic
There is no coating that will protect this plastic
Wish I would have got this or the 850 dps over 1000 xmr. It sucks not having my front rack and I don’t care to just run through mud holes.
Yeah I have not yet been in any situation where I think I need a rad relocate. CVT exhaust is higher on XMRs though and better suspension.
The back storage is water right, jftr. On the Rubicon, you get the storage over the wheel as you mentioned, but 1) it's small, 2) the trunk is a joke. In my opinion, I'd much rather the big trunk, rather than a small up front thing.
I have a '21 outlander mossy. Cheers!
The rear storage is not water tight on mine. Mine has water in it after most rides or after washing it. I wouldn't recommend putting anything in there that cannot get wet. However it is nice and big. I believe I read that it is almost equal to the 3 bins on the latest Rubicon in cubic inches of total storage.
I have never heard of an Outlander having a true water tight rear storage. I have owned 4 of them. They all leak with the lightest spray of a power washer.
You guys buy quads and complain and complain just get on the darn thing and ride yes they make noises and they scratch who cares its a quad WOW
That is exactly what I was thinking lol
I wonder why Suzuki doesn't have to grease the bushings ?
I believe many of theirs are sealed.
Got the 850 dps. Gonna try buffing the plastics.
I'd love to heart the results. I have heard that some had good luck using a heat gun lightly to sort of melt the finish and fill scratches. I'm scared to try it though.
Try SC1 it won't take scratches out but it will look good. Plus it repels mud and dirt.
Yeah I use SC1 before rides to make clean up easier, but it will attract dust also if you let it sit as it is silicone based. Great stuff though. Smells amazing.
Best part of the video is your old lady hello
Can't argue with that.
That high pitched whine is likely the fuel pump.
I considered that but it didn't make sense to me that it makes that sound after the atv is shut off and for 20 seconds or more. I appreciate the input and I'll do some research on the pump location.
@@chasintrail Reminded me of my Suzuki street bike, where it would adjust or turn off about 10-15 seconds after the machine had been turned off. If I had to hazard a guess as the noise is damn near identical that's where I'd go.
Damn...I'm actually NOT looking at your wife...I came to learn about this rig as I'm shopping.
How do you like it now?!
😆 Haha. I ain't trying to get you to watch my videos but I go over it a bit more in our latest video. ua-cam.com/video/9MXLERdVIAI/v-deo.html
That 10 hour review was my first time talking to the camera and I'm not just proud of it. I will say that this quad has only gotten better since I bought it.
@@chasintrail haha thanks brother. I'm in the "infancy" stage of collecting data on this so any you can provide is much appreciated.
@@69adrummer Once you ride a Can-am, other quads just feel... inadequate. Buy the biggest engine you can afford and if you think you will want to go deep, go ahead and go with an XMR. For non XMR, go with XT over DPS as it's just a better deal. Some of the new 2022 570 bikes will be de-tuned 650s that may be able to be flashed to 650s, so there is some potential savings there if it can be done.
Considering Geting me a can 850 would like to get the max but for the price difference may end up with the 650
Why the max? I just like to make sure people know that 2 folks can ride on a standard atv.
@@chasintrail was worried there wouldn’t be enough room for my wife and that it might roll over easier with out it being the max
@@whiterhinooutdoors4572 Go sit on them together, regardless of the brand, whatever dealership is closest to you. I think there is plenty of room for 2 average adults. One could argue that there is a higher chance of flipping on the max as the passenger sits up higher. It depends on how and where you ride really.
@@chasintrail I check it out can really find one I ordered one months back and still don’t have it we have called many dealers they saying a wait of 12-16 weeks when I can sit one I will try thanks I will defiantly try it out
@@chasintrail I don't know where you are but a lot of places it against the law to ride two on a one up
See what u should have got was a yhamma grizzly Xtr best atv this year for it being the littlest big bore and it only having 50 hp
Heck if it were my way I'd have one of each brand. But other than the plastics, this thing is a rocket and gived a thrill most other ATVs just can't. My first ATV was a Yamaha Champ 100cc, always a place in my heart for Yamaha. I would go with a Kodiak if I went that route, I like a nimble quad, plus it would fit in the back of my Avalanche. I plan on doing a better review in the future now that I have had more time with the machine.
Buddy Grizzly are not 50 hp they are about 33hp right from factory
@@canamdennis6829 grizzlys are about 48 hp
awesome wheeler! :)
Where did you get your cup holder?
Here is a link, it was only $15 when I ordered it.
Techjayse ATV Cup Holder with Oxford Fabric, 360° Adjustable Alligator Clip Motorcycle Cup Holder for Dirt Bike, Boat, Wheelchair, Beach Chairs, Walk www.amazon.com/dp/B08P1RXZV5/ref=cm_sw_r_apanp_4KC9OO28ajAgW
Nice honest review. No apologies necessary 👍
Thanks for the kind words Steve. I was actually thinking about taking it down as it's not really up to my standards and could be more thorough.
