Is this one of those“buddy of mine” people joe talks about
I don't know. But...
It's entirely possible.
It is. He talked about the fun suffering dialogue in one of the podcasts
@@mattoberther7894 huh?
hahaha
I thought Joe was always a keen hunter. He seems so noob like in this.
Joe needs a separate UA-cam channel where he and friends go hunt, fish, camp etc…
I've never hunted in my life but I so would watch Joe in a other element.
YES
No chance. This we would basically be like fisherman making his spots known. No one who Hunts would want the mass influx of moronic non hunters to these beautiful regions and for sure they would disobey the unwritten laws of hunting. Like a western tourist climbing an Egyptian pyramid because who gives a right?
And where he takes dmt live
I think he’s got his plate full as it is, comedy, the podcast, mma, and his dozens of other hobbies, I’d absolutely watch stuff he’d put out, but Joe won’t do anything just for “content”, he just lives his life.
Bryan roasting joe on the Fanny pack is great 😂
Yeah the possum comment was brilliant
I had a great laugh
Hey, man, tool’s a tool. I’d rather pack my fanny than pack my back.
Wait…
@@SnailHatan 🤣
Joes gotta point tho and if you ask me the fact that he doesn’t budge after being picked on and doesn’t take it off, only shows he’s manlier than most.
13:35 Props to the guide for having arguably the best comedic moment in the episode
He’s been listening to Bryan’s bitching for the past 2 days 😂
You can see him hold back a smile before saying it haha
Thats not hard when the comics are Rogan and Callen
@@hermanfrodit7442 but like neither joe nor Bryan delivery what the that moment captures tho 😂😂☮️
@@hermanfrodit7442 you go do it then lol
Steve’s right about the bad or crazy parts of a trip being the most memorable.
Just like life at times.
Best part was when Janis paused after Bryan said horns, and told him technically it's antlers
It was 🤣😂
It wasfunny seeing janis's face when they got told they had to take bryan lmao.
Technically correct is the best kind of correct.
They flew in on an otter..they couldn't kill enough deer that the plane couldn't carry it back to Ketchikan...you all talk like you flew out in a beaver..ffs.
I came here to say this.
“Hey Steve.... get us a buck.”
😂
When bryan calls them horns you can see the look on janis's face of thinking about whether or not to correct him and it is the greatest moment in all of hunting shows 😂
That shit was soooo fucking funny, everything down to the timing was something straight out of a good sitcom😂
Joe: "hey Brian everyone is carrying luggage, why don't you come carry luggage"
translation: Shut Up and Come Over and Help!
HAHAHA Joe was dead serious too. But what Brian said after, "Here, let me take that, you don't have the bone structure for that" was hilarious hahaha
Also it was like Joe calling Bryan not a man because most good men are taught to be working when everyone else is.
Could i get a timestamp for that
@@PappaPalps 3:50
@@SuperReviews4you You don't even have to be taught, it's just a natural thing as a man to feel shame when you see other men around you doing work that you're benefiting from but not partaking in, or should be.

Sounds like a Theo line😂
Bryan being funny and Joe's just being a hard ass. I love it.

Joe's not hard, unfortunately. I don't know if he thinks he is but he really isn't.
Joe "im afraid of water - hard ass" Rogan.
@Ben Franklin someone is insecure lol
I like to think that while they were hunkered down staying dry, that Joe was in his tent doing a podcast.
I like to think that he's in his tent smoking a spliff and wacking off.
@@Acarrdi most likely he was😂

“The test of an adventure is that when you're in the middle of it, you say to yourself "Oh now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home. And the sign that something's wrong with you is when you sit quietly at home wishing you were out having lots of adventure.”
― Thornton Wilder
Usually when I say that I mean it
@@robwright1286 c CB

Both situations are equally wrong/right. And you can enjoy both without wishing to be elsewhere.
The hunt is the adventure, but shooting something makes the adventure complete. It's like a good book or movie; the ending is so important that it can break both. In many ways, hunting without shooting anything, is like a story that completely lacks an ending. Steve...you're welcome to use that in your next sound over. It's really why you wanted to come back - this story was only the second chapter. Good luck on chapter 3, hopefully you find the deer that got away.
Couldn’t have said better
Well said Chris
lol that’s so cringe
@Greatest ever use proper English.
@@daffyduck5351 you must never hunt
It's interesting to watch Steve teach himself lessons through his time acting as a guide to Joe. Like with the whitetail, he shouldered the blame for a bad shot and here he addressed that he might have mixed up his desire to conquer this spot with his desire to teach Joe. It's commendable how aware he is of himself and how upfront he is for his missteps or shortcomings instead of pretending to be perfect.
That’s the only way to learn, when you realise all mistakes you make ASAP and try to be better from there on...people who achieve the most constantly analyse and learn from mistakes, even most tiny ones..people who tend to act like they always did all right are worst kind not just cos they don’t learn and go further them self, but they will fight, deny ,don’t allow other involved to learn.Mistakes are the best teachers,be grateful to opportunity to make mistakes,to learn from them, value them, don’t fear them, don’t deny them is the best way forward in life, best advice I could give to anyone.dont matter what you do,apply it on any craft, work, relationships, keep pushing, working, making mistakes, learning from them as much you can,Love mistakes and be grateful for every mistake, every lesson you couldn’t bring out of it,be grateful that despite mistakes you made,it all ended good
This behavior breeds high capacity learning 🤌
What, this guy took them to pristine wilderness and they were to shallow to cope. Yes I am being bias, joe can buy the world, but he lacks the ability to connect to it.

Joe Rogan has been hunting for many years now!!!
@@kazz1896 well it's also been years since this episode was released back when joe and bryan were new to hunting
This is really old
@Plex because this is season 5 and they're already on season 9
@@logankowalyk2580 is that a serious question?? How do I know?? I watched this years ago. I believe this is from 2014. So yea its old. Stop asking dumbass questions
Totally agree with Steve about the most suffering in the wild makes the best memories. My very best memory outdoors is my first portage trip. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong - including horrible and unexpected weather for a portion. That trip still has the best memories and best stories to tell from it.
The food tastes better too. I know what you're talking about, but a can of beans tastes a lot better if it's rainy or snowing and you had a hard day.
I need more of Joe and Bryan on MeatEater! I can't get enough. 2 city slickers out in the wilderness hunting for their food is so fascinating and entertaining at the same time. I'm hooked.
Joe hunts more crazy places and animals than most of you ever have. Definitely not a city slicker anymore.

and a big shoutout to the real troopers. The camera men. They ain't even hunting and need to work more for those good angles etc. Often overlooked in things like these.
They also need to know how and when to stay out of the way so they don’t interfere and spook the animal. Not to mention all the bulky camera equipment they have to hump around.
Here’s the trip Joe always mentions. “Everything was wet” he always says

Makes my heart glad that Meateater shares this experience with popular minds who hail from more urban areas to show everyone how similar we are at our core. It personally makes me enjoy Joe Rogan and Bryan Callens projects and especially their humor. These make me like and appreciate all the participants and them sharing.
Steven jinked himself after he said we would need a second plane to assist recovering the meat.

If you go on a trip like this you really find out if you like your friend or not lol
This hunt is on my bucket list 100%, congratulations for even having the opportunity to go there and experience something few ever get to do. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Honestly, looks a lot harder than what I normally do. Around November we have regular season for deer in Wisconsin and I just sit in my stand, drink miller and talk to my dad and we still always get a buck or doe. This looks like it'd humble me 😂
anyone can come up and buy an out of state tag..
@@edwardmiller4140 not everyone can afford these hunts, that’s what I was talking about.
@@Ian-yf7uf It’s called Alaska, “the last frontier “ for a reason! No place even compares! Simple.😳🤪
19:20 hey Steve get us a buck that's made me laugh so hard
I like the whitetail hunt where the older guy was asking, how he can politely ask Bryan to "stop talking". ROR.
I'm here in Southeast Alaska, this terrain is no joke. Muskeg bogs, potential landslide areas, Devils club bushes, Alaskan brown bears lurking after a fresh kill.. Also, the taste of Sitka blacktail is mild, no too gamey, SUPER lean & loaded with nutrients due to the wide range vegetation available to the deer population- mountains to the beaches.
At 18:14 Joe line was great: it is beautiful, but it is tough conditions. I will never come back... 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
When Steve says he’s nervous he means he’s pissed af 😂 rightfully so lol
Goddamn you’d think Joe and Bryan would be thankful for someone taken them on a hunt. They’re whining and complaining like little children. They want instant gratification. I would give my left nut to go on a trip like that
Fockin'ell Bryan and Steven fucking killed me when they started acting out a scene @ 19:08
Love these episodes with these two, wish they would make new episodes with them.
Doubt they’ll have Bryan on anymore because he got exposed for being a sexual deviant of the rape variety
Brian: "Well we won't be wet and cold". I haven't laughed so hard in years! He figured that out fast! Thanks man and welcome to S.E. Alaska!
"A sad, great beauty." That's deep. It hits hard with the week I've had.
15:40 is so good. The editing and Bryan's words
I die laughing listening to Rinella talk about his philosophy on having fun.. now or later...

When Steve Rinella let’s loose his inner Action Movie Star
Rinella could easily become an actor if he pursued it. He has 'a look', an incredible voice, and is highly intelligent. He could act and consult in any outdoors movie, he's a legend
I'm from Brazil and I'm a super fan of the channel!!!!!!!Congratulations, the best UA-cam channel.....
How is hunting down in Brazil? I'd imagine nearly every ecological region you can think of!
Sorry to tell, but hunting in Brazil is kind of disappointing... Most areas are protected, and the only animal allowed to hunting are boars. It's a shame, I understand that legal hunting could be amazing for conservation projects and for economy... if you're in a free country, don't ever let anyone take away your rights with bs excuses!
@@AlphaSierra375 The American lobbyist locked down all hunting in Brazil and you can't cut down even a sapling in your front yard or you go to jail for life. dead serious

“technically antlers, if we’re gonna pray to a deer god make sure you’re using proper jargon” that shit was too fucking funny😂
Steven ... Being in country like that is a privilege and for me personally when fishing or hunting it is the possibility of what lays around the corner or over the hill. Being in remote country in all it’s splendour is rewarding enough, bagging something that you have worked hard for is a bonus.
Thank you for sharing that visual experience. 😎🇦🇺
"A sad great beauty". - Pretty much how I feel out in a lot of New Zealand's remote bush.

This must be when you guys all recorded that podcast together, meaning this must be 2015. One of the best podcasts I've listened to. You get a great conversation and get a nice rain sound on the tents for most of the duration.

Bryan was great on The Goldbergs. Love this show, the added comedy is a plus.
Bryan sucks
That Fanny pack joke and laugh at the beginning is so pure. It’s comic gold
I would love but can only dream off seeing pure beautiful wilderness with space like that I could just sit there for days sleep n repeat that’s amazing . 😅
Joe and Bryan have no idea how lucky they are to hunt with guys like Steve and Janis. They probably learned more not getting a dear on this trip than many hunters learn in a lifetime.
We as people tend to idolize other folks, and I think thats what you’re doing here.

These three are the best trio ever
I just had a 4 day hunt in central idaho very similar to this. got about 6 hours in those 4 days where it was not raining. No matter what you do even your secondary sets of clothes are damp by the 3rd day despite never being in the rain.
Steve hits the nail on the head though. Walking around cold and miserable in the rain are some of my favorite memories.
Yep just started fishing lately storm hit us at low tide was about 45 minutes in freezing water hail like rain and possibility of being eaten of croc lucky there was another 2 boats everyone helped each other get everyone’s boats even once there’s was out no man left behind straya
The one thing i like about this show that it its not always extreme, you have to appreciate that its not always about the hunt but appreciating nature.
Sad, I looked up this plane to see if I correctly identified it as an Otter, only to see it was involved in a deadly mid air collision in 2019.

This show has always been well done but man, the production now. So many gorgeous shots, great music and editing.
You know Joe is for sure hotboxing that tent. Man I love this shit.
I'm from Philippines and I love rain, I wanna build a house in that place using the wild trees and make a living through hunting and fishing. Such a beautiful and relaxing rainy place.
“They’re air deer.”

Makes me realize how much I miss Callen.
I just loved the analogy about suffering and fun. It cleared my head a little bit and changed my thinking about some things. I'm in the military, so sometimes things can suck quite badly, but after a few years, you still have these awesome memories about the thing you were doing, but not of suffering. Incredible
that "yeah, are you ready?" is the most impressive thing i've seen Bryan Callen do
Never forget the first hunt of the pandemic: callens eyelids
Every time he said "Joe and Bryan" I kept thinking "who's Joan Bryant?".
Taking someone on a hunt in the wilderness is a gift that never leaves your heart. You think what could I have done different? But thankful for the experience
I love how this episode shows the reality of hunting
Even though I love Joe and Bryan ( Met and talked with both of them) they pussed out here. Cali soft showed right through.
You gotta know how to endure these environments. It's super important to stay dry, and stay relatively warm. If you are either cold or wet for extended periods of times it's really just gonna wear you down. I'm a shit weather guy. I love fishing on rainy overcast days, and hunting too, but constant cold or wetness is just draining.
I'm here for steven's philosophy. That's what makes this channel work, it's what made Bourdain's show work. Seeing a halo around Joe Rogan's head is fucking unnerving. I also love how they are adopting Scottish deerstocker fashion. Super sherlock holmes shit going on there.
Born & raised Southeast Alaskan here 🙋🏻♀️There's nothing easy about here in hunting in Southeast Alaska. The terrain is fucking ROUGH. Sharp mountainside, dangerous muskeg bogs (think quick sand-but instead water cover mud that doesn't look deep at all). Our weather is 70% chance of rain on most days, the wind can be unpredictable, and brown bears lurk for that afterkill scent...But that taste of a Sitka black tail back strap-- *chef's kiss*
2:20 real reason the fanny was purchased, he was losing the bag of goods too often hahahahahahaha
