This siren is 1 of 3 remaining H.O.R Super Sirex’s currently functioning in the country. Well, this one and the other one on Long Island are partially functional. They’re supposed to be rotators but the mechanism broke on both of them so they were converted to Omni directional. The 3rd one in Hamilton Ohio is the only fully functional Super Sirex complete with it’s rotating mechanism with it’s original look
Great siren video. I haven't been back to L.I. for any length of time to hear the sirens, are they still using them? Would this have been what I heard growing up in the 80's?
Many, many, Volunteer Fire Departments around L.I. and other parts on NY are still actively using fire sirens/horns. Some no longer do it, but it seems to be such a tradition up there that its going to stay for a very long time.
Holy hell. You picked just the right siren for this!
A ton of people are gonna piss their pants from hearing this. Dude this is honestly awesome. Gread video, glad you filmed this!
I didn’t lol

Some places do! Lots of cfa stations in Victoria and cfs stations in south Australia still use them’
