I forget how I stumbled upon the video but a while ago I saw someone who was in Japan and showed off some Soarers, that’s when I fell in love with this car. I think they’re gorgeous vehicles
Cars like this truly frightened the American Auto manufacturers this little old man Coupe was probably easily faster than a Z28 Camaro....... any manufacturer should never be shy about making a flagship model if their budget permits
And as I sit here, watching my Mk3 Supra get an alignment, I stumble into yet another car with a 7M-GTE. I'm bored to tears but thankfully y'all have posted this. Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful. This car is specced to perfection. The color suits it in that combination of highlights around the body and the rims. Its also a nice car which is featured in Wikipedia's front page for the Toyota Soarer.
I've owned 2 of these (pre-wife/kids) - a naturally aspirated, automatic 2.0l 6 cyl and then managed to find a 5 speed with the 2.0 twin turbo 6 - the 1g-gte. I miss those things so much. The folding mirrors, the digital dash, the height of 80's luxury etc. I'd actually forgotten about the floating indicators. There were quite a few floating around in Australia at the time - so I hope the owner did manage to get the needed parts for this one.
By far one of the MOST underated vehicles. This was one of the first vehicles I rode in that you actually could feel the engine power kick in when the twin turbos did their thing. My friend imported this vehicle from Japan and it smoke every car on the road that wanted to race him lol.
I picked up myself an mx73 cressida after window shopping for one of these. Absolutely one of the sickest underrated cars to come out of japan. I just wish you could find parts for them lol
Well done and Thank you for keeping the 7M in there mate. This particular block gets dumb and short-sighted commentary for head-gaskets etc... just re-torque them up a bit and this is a great engine that is incredibly torquey and can handle big power. Sound amazing too, I still miss my MK3 Supra very much.
This is a damn cool car. I love the looks and the retro tech on it. But he has to do something about this bad leather wrap Job on the dash and door cards.
Omg. Got rid of my 88 GT Limited a couple years ago - it was my first car from when I turned 17 🥺. Legitimately the EXACT same trim as this (some content on my channel)!!! Mine even had the exact same purply window tint on the rear windows and bubbling door trim too 😂 A70 and Z20 definitely had the same power from factory though. Unless a post 89 7mgte with a slightly different tune. Otherwise minor differences depending on emissions system by country. The only z20/a70 chassis with more power and modified turbo and intercooler was the turbo A a70 which also was mafless etc. JZA70R had a bigger cooler also. Happy to be proven wrong but I am very certain of this! Pulled apart many a70s and forged/r154 swapped my z20. 7mgteu and 7mgte are realistically the same. People think that because the turbo A a70 was a 7mgteu that all models with the 'u' were the same. But the 'u' just designates a JDM version hahaha. Other changes to the 7mgte included an extra cat in the downpipe in europe/aus/usa post from 89+, and extra webbing/castings in the block for durability :)
Yeah like Larry said it is really sad you don't see auto makers take any chances now a days by adding new tech or gimmicks. A lot of newer cars are so bland and boring more so the lower end cars
Picking mine up this weekend. 1990 zero rust 115km, it’s an auto Na but at $4500 I ain’t gonna complain just leaves me plenty of money for swap options.
I just saw this video, I live in Indiana too, and when I was in the military I was stationed in Misawa Japan and I owned a 1983 . I also owned a Nissan Leopard, which I think compares to this
Forgive me but I can't help but notice the classification is 500. Since this is the highest trim, 3.0 Limited, it should be 3xx because 5xx is for passenger vehicles under 2000cm³
*The owner of this car is a fucking super cool dude, and obviously KING Larry, keeps bringing is the incredible knowledge* *Thank you, KINGS* *God Bless and God Speed*
I'd love to own one of these things one day. Someone near me has one of these that's been sitting in their driveway for years and I'm just waiting for the day that I'm in a position to make them an offer for it
We have a few here in New Zealand. Cool cars, like an SC400 predecessor. Nice to see all the cool JDM stuff we have here getting attention nowadays.👍Cosmo perhaps?!
Not Forgotten Vintage in Australia Tho. Toyota Fans SHOULD know about these cars. Also I have a TV in the dash with a digital box under the seat and inbuilt DVD player in glove box in my Imported 2000 Mark 2 :P
Why with the pass of time, pulling out so much Cool facts in the car, that mirror light and signal 3d and and and jaja soo cool i learned something today

I think a Larry sticker will work on my mk2 Supra. Yes.
I really miss the two tone look cars had. The shapes of cars now don’t really allow for two tone like before.
A truly underated car like the Cressida
Also the Chaser, Mark II and the Cresta, especially the JZX90 and JZX100 generations in Tourer V trim.
@@aaronbryan5095 only in north America they are pretty known around the world
@@aaronbryan5095 yeahhh, but they never made to America or even Latin America

Damn imagine buying a car to bond with your younger brothers, thats a heck of a big bro right there
Indeed but he did also say that they got him back into cars so maybe it wasn’t just for them lol
I own a 1/500 '89 Soarer Aerocabin that I am currently restoring, great to see others appreciating these amazing cars!
Hell yeah finally something about my car.
Right!!!!!
This is so cool. I own one too and I never thought I would see it on this channel
I own one as well and I knew once he said Larry Chen spoke to him he'd be featured! Nice!
5 people own one
I forget how I stumbled upon the video but a while ago I saw someone who was in Japan and showed off some Soarers, that’s when I fell in love with this car. I think they’re gorgeous vehicles
I had an 86 Soarer Twin Turbo when I used to live in Japan from 97-99.
Cars like this truly frightened the American Auto manufacturers this little old man Coupe was probably easily faster than a Z28 Camaro....... any manufacturer should never be shy about making a flagship model if their budget permits
Frightened the living hell out of the Germans. Imagine being at BMW and telling the CEO it cost half a 318.
This wasn't an old man car, this is a rich man's supra haha
And as I sit here, watching my Mk3 Supra get an alignment, I stumble into yet another car with a 7M-GTE.
I'm bored to tears but thankfully y'all have posted this.

My 89 soarer has R134a refrigarant. I guess maybe the previous owner had it converted in japan. I am amazed the air suspension still works.
The good ol days when the Japanese were building cars ahead of there time. Beautiful looking car

Thank you Larry for featuring all these supra cool and super rare jdm classics.
Love the z20, the ol wangan cruiser.

i love 80' man

I've heard of it, but never got a PROPER Tour. Thanks Larry
one of these shows up to shows slammed on eurolines here in the ny/nj area and it just looks so RIGHT with how clean and simple it is
Love this car. Aero coupe version is perfection. Simple clean design, reminds me of a 2nd generation Integra.
finally some old toyota love
Love the old Toyotas
The whole car is so different and cooler. Luxury you weren't aware you needed. But now you know.

Nooooooooooooooooooo plz don’t show this car people will start buying it now
Cry me a river
Funny thing, my friend in Wisconsin just bout this car, THIS EXACT CAR
I have one for sale in Aus
That's actually a 2nd-gen Z20 soarer, not first gen Z10.
MZ21 chassis actually. But correct about 2nd gen.
The Minerva Corp album cover with the Soarer got me here..
Love those soarer badge
This car is a 2 door too luv
18:15 nissan had the skyline larry... the skyline
Nissan had the f31 leopard
Leopard.
This is my dream car. I adore these
My favorite car, I always craved for one of these. A Manual with 7m-gte and the rare black leather interior. Dream.
Nobody:
Larry in this episode: “If you were a Japanese businessman...”
"It's like driving a couch" lmfao
I really like the variety of the cars that you feature.
Nissan leopard also had a 6” monitor back in 1986
Complete with 80's purple window tinting..
Larry you the man. Keep gettin' after these unique vehicles.
Oh man I want one now.
This is a damn cool car. I love the looks and the retro tech on it. But he has to do something about this bad leather wrap Job on the dash and door cards.
I bought my R32 off of a guy locally in Florida and he recently got I believe an ‘88 as well aerocabin version , thing is wild

Nice toyota we were in camp across the road from this car
Nissan competition to the Soarer and Cosmo to me would have been the F30 series leopard also known as the infiniti M30 state side.
Greetings from a German A70 1991 Supra, 100% stock 7M-GTE owner :-)

A friend had one in Australia which came out with a factory TV in it. Insane
I had the 92.5 TT and loved it! Sadly some drunk person hit it and wrecked it.
So clean luv this
