Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkel fame. Writer of Sound of Silence,
The Boxer, Graceland, Bridge Over Troubled Water and so, so, so many
more. He is truly the last poet troubadour warrior alive today. And one
of the kindest, humblest people. Deep, deep rabbit hole here Britt. ❤
Richard Corey would go well with the problems of today. Sadly.
Hey, what's the story here? Why is only Paul being recognized on this special tribute? Where's his side kick Garfunkle? If the artist's are going to sing "Simon and Garfunkle's" songs & greatest hits then why isn't the other half here getting recognized too? Or do I not know something that maybe all of you know? Please inform me friends.
Thank you 😊
@@rhondamcbath6279 Garfunkel had a great voice but Simon wrote all the original songs as well as having a prolific solo career. Garfunkel did OK as a solo artist but always had to rely on outside songwriters. This event was for his entire body of work.
Paul Simon is one of the most significant musical artists of the 1970s and 1980s. James Taylor ranks right up there too. And Alison Krauss is in a class by herself. This song means a great deal to a lot of us old.....folks.
paul simon was part of simon and garfunkel. i promise you know their catalogue. alisson krause is virtuoso fiddler. carried the greatest prizes and placement for all that is bluegrass. her voice is from the angles
Paul Simon is probably the best songwriter ever. He wrote the songs for Simon & Garfunkel. Then has been writing and performing as a solo artist. Check out his Graceland album.
Did you ever hear of Bob Dylan? He wrote many more songs than Paul Simon!
@@declangerardoconnor1321 Bob Dylan is great too, but Paul Simon’s total catalogue is better (in my opinion).
Paul Simon had a great solo career, but prior to that he had a string of amazing songs with his friend and fellow vocalist Art Garfunkel as Simon and Garfunkel. You really should react to "Sound of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "The Boxer", "America", "El Condor Pasadenas", "The 59th Street Bridge Song" (at least I think that's what it's called) and so many more. He ranks alongside Billy Joel as two of the greatest American songwriters of the 20th Century!
Paul Simon would be a wonderful rabbit hole for you to go down. With Art Garfunkel as "Simon and Garfunkel" in the 60s, they sang Sounds of Silence (covered by many in the last few years), Mrs. Robinson, Bridge Over Troubled Water, I Am a Rock, Homeward Bound, and this song The Boxer. You have to listen to the lyrics to understand why Paul Simon was tearing up. It's about a young man's struggle to make it, and this is an especially beautiful cover. Then as a solo artist he explored many different genres - check out Graceland, Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes, Still Crazy After All These Years. Oh, and he was married to Carrie Fisher for a while.
Paul Simon is your next deep dive. One of our best songwriters. Start with Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes” “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” or “Graceland”
Paul Simon is an icon, he sang with his childhood friend Art Garfunkel as the band Simon and Garfunkel, he also did some solo work. Simon and Garfunkel were very melodic and their harmonies were beautiful. Simon is arguably one of the top singer song writers if not the top. You really should react more of his songs, I think you’d really like “Slip Sliding Away” .
Now you should hear Paul Simon singing it with Art Garfunkel, called The Boxer. It’s my favorite Simon and Garfunkel song.
You reacted to Paul Simon a year ago as part of the iconic duo Simon and Garfunkel. The song was The Sound Of Silence. I don't blame you for not remembering, because of how long ago it was and the sheer number of reactions you have done in the intervening time. But you should definitely react to more of Simon and Garfunkel, as well as Paul's solo work.
Sound of Silence.
He is the Simon of Simon and Garfunkel. They have too many great songs to name, but The Boxer is my favorite. Emmylou Harris has a great version of it.
Britt. For real?! Paul Simon is a legend.Capital L. Homework time. Lol .
I can't believe she never heard of Paul Simon! Don't tell her about Bob Dylan!
I'm pretty sure she also said she didn't know Elvis. I could be wrong. Might have been a different reactor. But, I mean, really?!! These are supposed to be the music people here? I'm scared, fr fr. Lol. Up to us to help them out, though. Keep history alive. Keep musical genius alive.
Whew . Lmao.
Paul Simon is 1/2 of the musical duo Simon & Garfunkel. Paul is an amazing prolific music writer. Dozens of songs over 50 years. He was also married to Carrie Fisher of Star Wars fame.
I have been to see James Taylor in concert 3 times and he is amazing. He comes on-stage right-on time, sits down and starts to sing. After playing solid hits for an hour he says we are going to take a break and picks up his chalk board play list at his feet. Shows it to the audience then turns it over and says, we still gonna play these. Then when his band takes a break, James sits on the edge of the stage and signs autographs and takes pictures with his fans,
Hi Britt, even if Simon & Garfunkel never existed, Paul Simon's solo catalog puts him on the Mount Rushmore of songwriters. Maybe start with "Still Crazy After All These Years"
Paul Simon is one of the great American singer/songwriters. A huge catalogue of songs. Try the live performance in South Africa while they were still under apartheid. "Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes"
Two of my favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs are "America" and "The Only Living Boy in New York". The later song is about Simon (Jerry) staying behind while Garfunkel (Tom) branched out to do a bit in a movie. One of the early nicknames for the group was "Tom and Jerry", hence the reference in the opening line to "Tom".
So many unbelievable Paul Simon songs, listen to this song by him, and songs from the “Concert in the Park” also Kodachrome, Me and Julio down by the School yard. Or any of his 40 greatest hits.
Paul Simon wow
you must listen to simon album GRACELAND. SONG DIAMONDS ON THE SOLES OF HER SHOE. with Ladysmith Mambazo
I’ll check it out!
Alison Krauss and Robert Plant "Please read the letter"
Brit, you should do a movie reaction to the move “The Graduate”, a classic love story/comedy/ drama from 1967. The score was a selection of songs written and performed by Simon and Garfunkel. Fantastic cast… you won’t be disappointed!!!
Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkel, you know who they are.
Paul Simon was part of a pioneering duo, Simon & Garfunkel, primarily creating in the 60s and 70s. The group spoke to the generation that had experienced and was experiencing the unrest due to the Vietnam war and the need for civil rights reform. Paul was the rock, songwriter of the group, he also continues a successful creative solo career, writing and recording his own material, an amazing catalog.
Totally beyond awesome 🔥🔥🔥
He wrote this song, and had a hit with it singing with Garfunkel.
This is one of Paul's most iconic songs. His original with counterpart Art Garfunkel was so profound, but this version cut out at lot of the original songs. While both James and Allison are very gifted performers and songwriters on their own, they did not do this song justice.
If you want to see Paul and Art sing in concert, find the version from their concert in Central Park which had an estimated audience of 500,000.
Great reaction, Britt! There are three musical giants here. Alison is one of my favorite female singers. If I recall, Alison Krauss actually joined the Grand Old Opry at a young age as a fiddle player. Her singing fame came later.
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Fame in 1990 as a duo, and Simon was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a soloist in 2001. So BrittReacts has a lot to catch up on and to react to. Quite a song writer and performer.
James and Allison have a song called "How's the world treating you" is beautiful. ...Paul Simon is from Simon & Garfunkel
simon wrote bridge over troubled waters.
James Taylor and Alison Krauss have a great duet covering the song How's The World Treating You.
allison is bluegrass royalty...so, that would be a fiddle. :)
I would be shocked if you don't know a few of Paul's songs, even if it's only from a movie. You could spend years going down the rabbit hole that is Paul Simon. Highly suggest you do.
Paul Simon was half of the folk duo Simon and Garfunkel. Paul is a master song writer who wrote all of their songs. Some of the most beautiful music of the 1960s. Paul had a great solo career after the duo broke up. So many wonderful songs. 😊
Britt, for your next video react to Paul Simon......"the Boxer".................homework time!
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel had many gold records and albums.
If you enjoyed this, look up "How's The World Treating You?" as covered by James and Alison. It's an old country standard, but they really breathe new life into it, and may wind up evoking a tear or two when you listen. Their voices blend so well together!
You should look into Paul Simon's album "Graceland"
In the 60s during the great British Invasion, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Yard Birds…. Simon and Garfunkel were arguable Americas biggest act. Other commenters listing many of their biggest hits.
From Simon & Garfunkel's catalog, listen to Cecilia. The happiest Breakup Song Ever!
James is alive and well!
Britt, Britt, Britt. I’m very surprised that you don’t know more about Alison and Paul Simon. Alison Krauss has 27 Grammys and is known for her unbelievable fiddling. Paul Simon is infamous for song writing. He and Art Garfunkel were one of the best known duos of the 60’s and 70’s. He has 17 Grammys of his own and The Boxer is one of their best known songs. I absolutely love you-💯%- and ….I would suggest you do a small dive on these artists you react to beforehand. Especially the Kennedy Center Honorees. To get there, to be honored, you have meet a threshold of how these artists affected society and how unique they are. And the wonderful thing about these ceremonies is that usually the best artists out there are doing the honoring. For all types of music and dance. Enjoy.
great video girl greetings from Uruguay 🇺🇾 I love your videos❤😊
Thank you 🖤🖤🖤
ALLISON PLAYS THE FIDDLE IN BLUE GRASS MUSIC!!!!!!!!!
THE FIRST SONG HE WROTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1:05 lol, she won the Illinois fiddle championship as a teenager
Slip Sliding Away and Diamonds On The Soles of Your Shoes (live in Africa version is a great version), by Paul Simon.
Garth Brooks and his wife also did a cover of this in tribute to Paul. You'd probably love it.

Simon & Garfunkel of the 70’s
Simon & Garfunkel of the 60's (exceot Bridge Over Troubled Water, 1970). Paul Simon was solo for the 70's.
❤❤❤
Paul was in We Are The World before Kenny Rogers
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel have a blend that few have ever even approached more or less matched. They had about 5 albums in the early 70s. Many of the songs on those albums are mentioned below and ALL are worth a listen regardless of what genres you may usually listen to. 300 years from now, people will still be listening to and covering their music unlike most "pop" stars. Not knowing Simon & Garfunkel comes close to never having heard of the Beatles.
And then just because changing music history wasn't enough already, Paul Simon went on to have a stellar music career of his own. Read about some of his hits and albums below. 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard, You Can Call Me Al, and the entire Graceland album. Your life will be richer after delving into those two rabbit holes. Enjoy the journey ahead.
Bridge Over Troubled Water🎉
Paul Simon became a big (well, not BIG lol) deal as part of Simon and Garfunkel - Ms. Robinson, Bridge over Troubled Waters, I am a Rock, Cecilia. He later had a solo career that was pretty good (50 ways to leave your lover, me and julio down by the schoolyard), and married a singer - Eddie Brickell, who is QUITE a bit younger.
Anothet good tribute is First Aid Kit singing America when Paul Simon was honored with the Polar Music Prize.
Bridge Over Troubled Water
She has a few Duets with Robert Plant
You reacted to his original group Simon & Garfunkel last year when did their song Sounds of Silence. There’s a much better version of this song with Alison Kraus and Shawn Colvin that you should check out.
Paul Simon is half of Simon and Garfunkel. He is a songwriter with many great hits. You reacted to sound of silence by them.
Hi Britt. Who is Paul Simon?? He is the writer and singer of "Sounds of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover", and many others. You ought to check out his 1986 album named "Graceland". He featured South African musical artists on the album to help get attention to apartheid.
You should react to Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss.
Really shocked that you haven't reacted to any Simon and Garfunkel.
Hey @Britt,
Paul Simon... married to Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) for a few years. He has Grammies for work with Art Garfinkel in the 1960s and solo work in the 1970's & 80s.
His songs (writing & performing) shaped the sound of the late 60's as much as the Beatles or Carly Simon (no relation). Try reacting to his video "You Can Call Me Al", or watching the standing room only concert in Central Park! ua-cam.com/video/x2bd1zp_q6Y/v-deo.htmlsi=h7qVDjeRX85jNt2e
Oh, in Alison's hands, the instrument might be called a fiddle.
Alison and Robert plant the singer of led Zeppelin just put out another album. Simon and Garfunkel were iconic yes check out there massive hit " Misses Robinson "
I just saw them in concert last Friday, they were pretty good.
You need to react to the original studio version… they cut a couple verses for this performance
who is Paul Simon, i am sitting here crying
Hope you get to MOCKINGBIRD by James Taylor, with his wife, the great CARLY SIMON. you will be delighted and surpritsed.
React to all his song and the songs he did with Art Garfunkel
I don’t know about allllll but what a bout a specific one?
Start with his music with Simon & Garfunkel, then listen to some of his solo stuff.
Dude, you have not heard of Simon and Garfunkel, “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard, or “Call Me Al”?
Paul probably wrote.the song
Britt. Dive into the Paul Simon well. It’s deep.
This is nice, but I think the Simon & Garfunkel version is tons better. Check it out, Britt!
James was married to Carly Simon
Why did they leave out part of the song. ???
They cut several verses from this. Check out the original, it's one where you really have to let the lyrics percolate in your brain, every listen picks up new meanings.
🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅
You have never heard of Simon & Garfunkel?
So, what's the song about?
You have a lot to catch up on. START WITH THE ORIGINAL OF THIS. SIMON AND GARFUNKEL
Paul Simon is only one of the most successful songwriters ever. He had a solo career as well his career with Art Garfunkel.
Nice cover, but listen to the original.
Thanks for listening
"Who is Paul Simon?" Sorry, I'm out. And BTW, James Taylor is very much alive and still performing. While Simon and Garfunkel occupies much of his early career, his solo stuff is incredible. I highly recommend you find a live performance of "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" from his "Graceland" album. The reason I suggest the live version is that it features Ladysmith Black Mambazo, a South African male choral group singing in the local vocal styles of isicathamiya and mbube. They became known internationally after singing/performning with Paul Simon and are a gift to the world.
Wish I could give 👍👍 two thumps up.
