I discovered Nightwish quite by accident... and down the rabbit hole I went. I'm a 50 something Metal head used to 80's metal. Iron Maiden's Phantom of the Opera is what brought me to Nightwish... as I was looking to watch a video for that song and came across a "Phantom of the Opera" from Nightwish. I thought it was just a cover. Boy was I wrong! Nightwish is now my most favorite band of all time.

exactly like me man ! i come back from iron maiden concert in paris in 2018 and they have not sing the phantom of the opera, so i google it and gess what i found Nightwish and like you i'm crazy with them ! we have see them at Nimes on july t2nd 2022 it was exceptional ! long live rn roll !

My youngest son told me to give NW a try, it's like I had never heard real music before......listening to this just makes me happy.

Before FLOOR..I liked NIGHTWISH. Since she joined the Band..I've become a Hardcore Fan. FLOOR'S Voice is so Beautiful, Powerful and EMOTIONAL..she raised the Energy of Tuomas's songs. Floor is..Unlimited.
When Floor, being Dutch, whips her hair around it is called a "windmill". The chills you get are called a "Floorgasm".

Greg, Nightwish had a world tour I think it was 2018, I am not sure, Floor gave birth to a little girl and the whole band started planning. As she had to take her daughter with her, she needed help on the tour. After the tour little Freya had a lot of uncles adoring her. As most of the guys have their own children, the have experience. Imagine a uncle looking like an escaped Viking. Stay safe.

Might be stating the obvious but Floor is a beautiful badass. One of my favourite live songs by Nightwish, I always look forward to the heavier ones.
I think Empuu is one of the most underrated guitarists in music.

Your Nightwish reactions are satisfying to watch bro! Please do “Everdream” from Wacken 2013. Also, “7 days to the wolves” is another great one. I cannot wait until you get to “The Poet and the Pendulum” and their ultimate (and longest) song, “The Greatest Show on Earth”. For those last two, find the versions that show the lyrics. In fact, lyrics versions of all their songs allows a greater depth of appreciation for their music.

I discovered nightlight about 7 months ago and was blown away! Was a metalhead as a teen but outgrew most of the aggressive side of that genre over time. however nightlight has a perfect blend 👌 with floors amazing vocal range and the rest of the bands awesome talent I could never get tired listening to them . when I hear them they transform me to a other place! 😀

That's a 3 octave glissando that Floor did in tandem with Marko. The studio version, recorded in the Tarja era, only has Marko's 2 octave slide.
This is one of their heavier songs, and one of the few that Emppu really shreds on as he, and all the band members, play what is needed for the song. They are not out there to show off. The song itself is about a romance that has died. It's over, time to move on.
For more Nightwish, and judging by the thumbnail you do, try Song of Myself or Everdream.
Chris, I suspect Floor is to blame for Marcos developed voice. Since around 2000 Floor is a certified Vocal coach, You can bet, she helped him to develop his voice, remember after a botched surgery of his larynx in the 1990´s , he had lost his ability to sing high, never giving up, Marco prevailed, and I think the whole band helped him. With Floor, "Ghost River", "Song of Myself", and "Bless the Child" from the Wacken 2013 concert.

The “scream” at the end is called a glissando, going from low to high and back, for classical trained singers this is an exercise to warm up the vocal cords, so Floor will do this probably every day before breakfast

I really do dig this one's F-you attitude, it just has that, "i am juet SO done with all of this crap"... LoL. That, combined with Floor's energetically emotive stsgr çfand Marco's harshly growing tone of voice alongside Emppu guitar solo absolutely makes this tune one of Nightwish's more thrash rock metal, than most others.
You should also check out In This Moment (Blood or Whore), Five Finger Death Punch (any song is amazing) and,Rammstein (DuHast). Thanks for what you do!

If you haven't already, I recommend checking "Yours Is An Empty Hope" by Nightwish. It has some excellent growls by Floor. For another side of her talent, check out Floor and Marco singing "Ave Maria". There is a video of Floor singing part of a phonebook. She has done so many different things. Fair warning: once you hear FLoor sing something, it may ruin all other versions for you.
Nightwish never disappoints or plays any 2 songs that sound the same. You want a headbanging adventure? Try playing Brain Dance by Animals as Leaders and try to headbang.lmao
If you like Nightwish (who doesn't?), then I'm pretty sure you'll also like Epica. Start with Kingdom of Heaven Part 3. It is a masterpiece of musicality, vocals, visuals and showmanship. Floor Jansen (Nightwish) sings with the Epica frontwoman (Simone Simons) in 2 songs of Epica's restrospect show with a full orchestra: Sancta Terra and Sabat Mater Dolorosa - a real delight.
You might now be ready for Nightwish's Ghost Love Score - their most popular performance is the one from the 2013 Wacken festival. Their rabbit hole is VERY deep my friend. They always surprise you. Enjoy. My favorite song is Song of Myself, also from the Wacken festival.
