The Beitou Springs are a MUST VISIT when in Taipei! The sulphur from the springs did not smell at all as bad as many other UA-camrs have mentioned, perhaps the wind was blowing in a different direction for us ;-)

I love the lush scenery and the Lily Pond was so beautiful. Love the vibrant colors as well. It amazes me how other cultures take such care of their train and subway stations as well as their cabins you travel in and yet here there seems to be no respect for this; example, New York subways. As always I am captivated by your videos. Maro you might want to wear a cap when you are out in the sun as your scalp looks sunburndt. Be safe and can't wait till your next video!

The Asian countries are so good at keeping there Metro trains and stations clean... We also always ask each other when we enjoy the cleanliness of the trains, "why can our trains not be so clean?", what a pleasure it would be if they were! Maro and I were both rather sunburnt that day, normally Maro will wear a hat, but on this particular spring day we had not expected the sun to be so hot! 1:40 you are right, it is Pacific Rim 2. 17:20 that sign says that it's a protected area, so don't put the feet into the water, not because of the heat.

I would strongly recommend the onsens ( hot springs) in Japan. I hope you make a trip there as that is our favourite destination having travelled quite extensively in Asia Pacific and Europe. Switzerland is our European favourite. Btw, we have been to Finland too and liked it for being different from Central Europe.

When visiting Taiwan, something to be aware of when using maps in public places -- such as the one seen at 06:35 in this video -- is that North is not always "up" on the map, as is the norm. Maps in MRT stations, for example, are inconsistent in this regard. I can neither confirm nor deny that I may once have exited an MRT building after studying a map, then walked two blocks east instead of west before listening to my wife and checking Maps on my phone.

You seemed slightly confused as to why the train terminated at Beitou. Tamsui-Xinyi line trains often terminate at Beitou instead of Tamsui. To the other end they sometimes terminate at Daan. This is probably because there's less demand for train travel there and more in central Taipei. Also trains might get crowded as there are only two platforms for trains at Tamsui and Xiangshan terminus.

I love the lush scenery and the Lily Pond was so beautiful. Love the vibrant colors as well. It amazes me how other cultures take such care of their train and subway stations as well as their cabins you travel in and yet here there seems to be no respect for this; example, New York subways. As always I am captivated by your videos. Maro you might want to wear a cap when you are out in the sun as your scalp looks sunburndt. Be safe and can't wait till your next video!
Hello to you Bridget, lovely to hear from you again. We also loved the lily pond and the light green spring colors, so fresh! The Asian countries are so good at keeping there Metro trains and stations clean... We also always ask each other when we enjoy the cleanliness of the trains, "why can our trains not be so clean?", what a pleasure it would be if they were! Maro and I were both rather sunburnt that day, normally Maro will wear a hat, but on this particular spring day we had not expected the sun to be so hot! I would strongly recommend the onsens ( hot springs) in Japan. I hope you make a trip there as that is our favourite destination having travelled quite extensively in Asia Pacific and Europe. Switzerland is our European favourite. Btw, we have been to Finland too and liked it for being different from Central Europe.

When visiting Taiwan, something to be aware of when using maps in public places -- such as the one seen at 06:35 in this video -- is that North is not always "up" on the map, as is the norm.
Maps in MRT stations, for example, are inconsistent in this regard. I can neither confirm nor deny that I may once have exited an MRT building after studying a map, then walked two blocks east instead of west before listening to my wife and checking Maps on my phone.

Beautiful, but it's a bit of a downer this hot spring isn't accessible for wading and bathing the way the hot springs in Iceland are.

in ed it is! We love Bubble Tea and actually first tasted it in Kuala Lumpur last year (2017). You seemed slightly confused as to why the train terminated at Beitou. Tamsui-Xinyi line trains often terminate at Beitou instead of Tamsui. To the other end they sometimes terminate at Daan. This is probably because there's less demand for train travel there and more in central Taipei. Also trains might get crowded as there are only two platforms for trains at Tamsui and Xiangshan terminus.
