- If you ever visited www.craftyourperfectbourbon.com and "crafted your own bourbon", then you weren't just entertaining yourself for 5 minutes, you were also participating in market research. Sneaky devils. But we're not complaining because the famed Weller line at Buffalo Trace, most well-known for Weller 12 and as being the same mash bill as Pappy Van Winkle, now has a new expression called Weller C.Y.P.B. The distillery tells us that the majority of people crafted their perfect bourbon as a wheated mash bill with an age statement that averaged out to be 8 years, at 95 proof with the barrel being stored at the top of the warehouse. Is this bottle all hype, or is it a welcome addition to the line?

I just picked up a CYPB yesterday, and am very much looking forward to a taste! Higher end bourbons are few and far between here in Hawaii.
Then you had the pour and realized it's not "higher end" and all hype! lol

I did the same thing with my Cypb. I opened it and I drank some of it. I paid 42.35 after tax . I liked it but it wasnt life changing for me either. I like Makers 46 for the same price and availability. This was my first and probably only Weller I will find in my area.
I have had it in a bar in Omaha Nebraska last month.... so, it's out there! Pretty good juice.

I was actually going through It's Bourbon Night Withdrawal! So thanks so much for the very interesting video! I do have to say that considering the fact that i could buy TEN bottles of Bookers or Five to six bottles of KC Birthday for what this gets on the secondary market, this will NOT be on my list. I'd love to see Chad and Sarah do a video that actually discusses the secondary market at some length *hint*!

Fast forward to 2022, my sister in law got it for retail but spends thousands a month on wine to get the call! It is delicious!
It is selling for $550 + now secondary.
I had a bottle and my friend wanted it so much she was willing to trade her Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend, I don’t flip bottles for her. I made the trade and she was so happy and felt good because it made her happy. I smoke cigars so I was happy too!

Hell yeah chad! The 107 rules them all! That's definitely one I never hesitate to find, and in massachusetts it's almost as easy to find as the SR but I haven't seen a 12 year in literally 2 years and I bought that as soon as I saw it for only 28 bucks!
I've never seen the 12 yr or the 107 in any ma liquor store that i go to in the western part of the state. I have heard that out boston way you can find it but it's not that good to get me to drive that far for any weller. The weller SR is usually not to bad to find. I just picked up 2 more bottles the other day for under 25 bucks.

Do we know if the gathered information from Buffalo Trace's Single Oak Project has produced a product like Weller CYPB?
I feel lucky that a liquor store called me and said they were holding a bottle of CYPB for me. I said, it's what? Haha. I bought it for $42. I had just drank pre-workout on the way to the gym, so this tasted less than spectacular at 10:00am when they offered me a taste from their own bottle. I have yet to open it at home
So what was the mash bill? I don't think I helped craft this batch.
Saw one during the summer at one of my Prime bourbon hunting spots and passed on it, to much secondary mark up and not knowing what it taste like so I passed.
literally found one of these in a random liquor store on a road trip i was shoook.

Weller 12: “If we can do it you can do it.” Not so sure about that. In Florida, only one chain can sell Weller and you have to put your name on a list to get one. Only took me 12 months... For a screw top. At least it was at msrp.
I have seen this listed on a few websites (out of stock of course)
A lot of sites will list products they never had in stock in order to drive people to their sites looking for exclusive/hard to find items... Shady.

Thanks! Here in KY we accept rickhouse, rackhouse and warehouse ;) And some rickhouses even go up to 9 levels high.

I just got on 12/31/18 stopped at a mom and pop and they had one , I never heard of it didn't know what I got till I got home ...paid $68 for it

I kept getting rip 10, and that's probably right there for me as a fav. Some of the 107 picks I've been involved in we just amazing. I was not impressed with cypb.

Great video. Now hear me out. Have you ever considered doing a bourbon hunting video? Maybe a tips and tricks for those of us who want to step beyond the offerings that are always on the shelf. Not the lottery items like the pappys, but I’ve never seen anything weller, Taylor, or blantons on the shelf. While I understand that it can be highly regional, is there any knowledge y’all could pass on for finding the next level of bottles? Thanks and keep up the great content.
Why go to all the trouble and then make it so limited? I like a lot of BT product but...still sitting on my last Old Weller Antique 107 Seven Summers Old squat bottle because it's irreplaceable, sigh.

Got lucky with a bottle. Traded ECBP "hazmat" and batch one Stagg JR. Didn't hurt as much since I have three bottles of each. I'm going to open this baby up during winter.

@@violentmeadow I have yet to ever see that one in person. Every time I ask people at liquor store they just laugh. I have even gotten in good with a distributor and he says don't get my hope's up on finding any.
@@daveeno3222 I bought a bottle for $40 a few months ago there and found a different store online that has it listed for $34.99, I will be there next in a couple of weeks, not confident they will still have any.

@@daveeno3222 I am in PA and can order online from the PA liquor store only. They have Weller Reserve 90 for $20 but it is another $15 to ship. Luckily I go back to my office in Boston pretty regularly so I try to buy a few bottles there. The odd thing is how different the prices are state to state. I just bought EH Taylor Small batch here out the door for $38. In Boston I am lucky if I can get it for under $50. But then any Scotch I want is usually $10-15 less than I can get it here.

This is very true. it happens in every collectible hobby I can think of. Comic Books and baseball cards come immediately to mind
Peter white, when people stop being stupid and getting ripped off. I just got a couple of bottles of weller for 24.99. It's an ok bourbon but not worth much more than that. I think elijah craig for a little more is far better or just get some buffalo trace which is decent and about the same price which i also think is better imo.
