    Don't say "sorry it's simple." THANK YOU for just getting to the frickin' point here!!! I just have some small nail holes to fix in my basement, watched three videos before this one and they just went on and on and on with things that were of no use so again, thanks the simple, to-the-point 411 on this.

    Next time give this a try, spackle the hole, doesnt have to flat/perfect then take a damp sponge and give it a wipe with the flat side of the sponge. Your left with perfectly flat and smooth finish. No sanding required afterwards!

    Not a bad video. Suggestion: Rather than spending extra time repeatedly doing the same thing like smoothing excess around old holes, it would be great of you skipped to the next day when it dried and you smoothed it out with the sand sponge, then painted it over. That would cover the complete process visually.
    Thank you.

    Should've watched this before I started lol. But I only did 2 and there's a hundred more, for bigger holes do you suggest that mesh tape then spackle over?

    • @PaintBoss
      @PaintBoss  3 роки тому +4

      haha, right! So I like to use mesh only it its bigger than a baseball or so. Remember for smaller ones like the size of a quarter or golf ball, you can shove some backer...crumpled up paper, foam, tape, whatever you can find, and it works as a good backer, so you won't have to do so many coats...gives the spackle something to bite to. If it's bigger than a golf ball or baseball size than I would use mesh tape. Thanks for the comment and let me know if you have any other questions 💪🤝

    I was planning on painting just where the spackle was applied to on the wall (several small holes in different areas of the same wall. Will that make the wall look a bit patchy? Should I instead repaint the whole wall

    • @PaintBoss
      @PaintBoss  3 роки тому +3

      hello Jose, as long as the holes are small (about smaller than a nickel) and the patches get 2 coats of coverage of paint you should be good to go. Especially, if there is texture on the wall, if the holes are big and there are a lot of them...if it is smooth wall, level 5, or light sun valley, then it might be easier to roll corner to corner for a new look.

      Use joint compound on holes using it finger. Dab with finger tip on each hole then sand next day. If u use putty knife sometime more is not good u disrupt texture pattern so easiest dab mud on finger tip..what I do . Iam a lic drywaller I call it fingering walls

    • @SirBoopBoop
      @SirBoopBoop 2 роки тому +5

      I figured the 4" knife is most likely for if you have larger holes in your wall that have to be filled. The larger knife gives you a larger surface area to work the spackle in with compared to the 2" knife.

    • @PaintBoss
      @PaintBoss  3 роки тому +3

      Thank you for your comment 🙏 So if the hole is little you can go ahead and put a little spackle in it. Hello marianna, so I like to use Crawford lightweight spackle. If you are just doing walls you can really use any shrink free spackle, but I find Crawford to be the best for sanding, strength, and dry time. All spackle dries different, but if the holes are small...ie nail holes, screws, or bolts should only need a couple hours to dry...if it is bigger than a quarter or golf ball, better to wait half a day or day...and then sand to make it smooth and flush with the surface 👍 thanks for the comment, hope it helps🤝

      @@tonieamannministries Haha, no doubt, auto correct always gets me.. So yes usually after only 1 coat most patches will flash, so we always do 2 and that takes care of it. The flashing comes from the spackle absorbing the paint more than the existing wall, so it leaves a dead spot, but just go over it one more time and you should be good to go. Thanks so much for the comment 😊🙏

    • @tonieamannministries
      @tonieamannministries 3 роки тому +1

      @@PaintBoss You are welcome, and thank you more for the explanation. I thought the flashing came from applying too many coats of spackling. I have seen a video of a painter recommend skipping the spackle and using a 1/3 mixture of sheetrock and water. Have you heard of or tried that? Also, what is best to put under a paint job covering simple marks on a wall? That is mainly what I will be painting over. There are not many deep holes in the wall.
