Hidden and Unlockable Games for The Original Xbox - Easily play with a modded Xbox | MVG

- The Original Xbox has a small library of titles that contain hidden and unlockable games. In most instances you need to complete the main game to in order to play the unlockable game.
In this video with a modded xbox, and a copy of a custom dashboard, like Unleash X, i show games that i have that contain unlockable or hidden games and how to play them without needing to unlock them in the main game.

Dead or alive ultimate comes on 2 disks , one for DOA2 the other DOA1, what they dont tell you is that the disks are identical and they just renamed the XBE between the two disks, you only need one of them to play both games on a moded xbox XD
yes thank you! how did i forget about this one
It made it look like you were getting more for your money than you really were. Not to say DOAU wasn't a great game, it's one of my favourites in the series. On the upside, it did let you play online with a friend with one copy of the game. If they were using the DOA1 disc and you invited them to a game of 2U it would launch 2U from the DOA1 disc. So there was that, at least.
While it's true that both discs contain both games and you can launch either game from either disc using the method described in the video, they actually aren't identical. The two game XBEs (not default.xbe which is just a loader) are completely different. At the time some people split the two games to separate directories/discs and deleted the DOA2 game data from the DOA1 parent directory thereby bringing it's installed size down to about 250MB. This rather neat trick saved nearly 4GB of HDD space.
you should come join up with the xbox mod scene. we're on Facebook OG xbox group. We greatly appreciate everything you did with xbox.
HPZeta I noticed that when I ripped both to the hard drive and thought it was funny they made it 2 discs. They could have saved a lot of discs by just making a selectable menu in the game I guess XD
Remember when you could unlock things in games and not pay for them.
teddybeddy123 Too painful to remember the good old days.
...that'll be 29.99 to "DLC" something on the disc
Animal Crossing had all those NES games built in. I loved that.
Gaming in 10 years: Congrats you found an easter egg! Pay $5.99 rn to open it.
Turns around and looks at EA
Hidden and Unlockable Games
EA: $60 DLC.
Right.🤣🤣🤣🤣
There's also Ninja Gaiden (Original) and Ninja Gaiden Black. Ninja Gaiden (Original) has three unlockable games, they are the NES Ninja Gaiden games. Ninja Gaiden Black has only one unlockable game, and it's the arcade version of the game. And Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Remake on PS3) removed these unlockables.
I just checked my Ninja Gaiden Black disc and it contains both the US and Japanese versions of the arcade game, named NinjaTrilogy.xbe for Ninja Gaiden and NinjaTomoe.xbe for Ninja Ryukenden respectively. Thanks for the tip.
Actually, they're SNES versions, which are inferior and were supposedly not optimized for the SNES. They play much slower (as a result, they're less difficult), music is different and some of the tracks were cut, parallax scrolling was removed and so on. Also, the trilogy can't be launched with .xbe, they have to be unlocked by beating the game.
Do u know if any of those can be played on the xbox one since the game is backward compatible?
Note: I am aware of Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Terminator 3 containing unlockable games too but they cant be played with this method as they are embedded inside main game rather than a seperate executable.
Modern Vintage Gamer hey man i really love your original XB Modded videos... unfortunately i know NOTHING about coding/hacking/modding... do you or anyone you know mod XBox’s for a fee if i send it out? PLEASE let me know and keep on brother!!
If you paid for shipping both ways I would do it free, but you would need to send a hard drive (preferably IDE but you can get SATA adapters) and if you wanted an 80 pin IDE cable, I would do a soft mod and install the hard drive for you and from there you would have the menu and off you go :) (FTP over games and emulation is pretty easy.) I guess I would take a look at the clock capacitor as well (they go bad and removing them is a good idea, and they cause no problems being removed unless it's a 1.6 version Xbox.)
Or just buy the USB adapter from Amazon for like 7 bucks and a copy of Splinter Cell for like 8 bucks and do the soft mod yourself. The hard drive upgrade is pretty easy you can find really good video's on how to do it on youtube. This is the cheapest option since shipping an Xbox is expensive. removing the capacitor is pretty easy too, again lots of youtube video's on it.
You can do a lot of stuff with just the built in 8-10GB hard drive but if you have like a 200GB or larger IDE drive laying around, things get really fun. Look for a "Ninja Massive" and "Ninja Massive pack" so much emulation goodness.
Edit: I only recently got an Xbox. so a lot of this stuff is new to me but it was so much easier than say installing a mod chip in a PS2... Even easier than installing a Wiikey in a Wii. Love the Xbox's build... very PC like inside. :)
RoboTronix i have NO idea what u just said! Hahahaha im willing to pay shipping and such however. Where do u live (country)
OGXbox.com and the OGXBOX Facebook group will walk you through doing it on your own. you should be able to do it for a total of like $40 for an xbox with a controller and a mod job.
Steven Benson thank you for that link!!! @ Steven Tchorz I am in Florida inside the USA, it would probably be too expensive to ship :( They cost an arm and a leg due to the weight of the machine, it is built like a tank :)
Great stuff MVG. I think my faves were Maniac Mansion inside Day of the Tentacle and the magic carpet style flight sim hidden in Excel 97 :D
RetroManCave Right! DOTT came out in 1993 and was the first game I remember having a secret game inside.
You mentioned being able to play classic arcade games in Yakuza 0 but don't forget that in Yakuza 6 it's possible to play the arcade/PS3 game *Virtua Fighter 5!* :)
Krock dude really??!!!! Can’t you play other modern arcade games too? Like tyko drum master?
Anthony And The Machine Taiko Drum Master is in Yakuza 5, don't know if it's in Yakuza 6
No, there's just Virtua Fighter 5 and Puyo Puyo (as well as the games already in 0).
Playable arcade games are a standard thing in Yakuza games. No need to really talk about them much as they are not hidden, as he said you just go to Club Sega in game.
Really? Thanks for the info.
Does this same method work for Doom 1+2 on Doom 3's disk?
That Prince of Persia game is interesting, it looks like it's the Mega CD port of the game (as he wears all white in the original (and the Mega Drive version)) how bizarre :S
Hello you
How bizarre, how bizarre. Ooh baby it's driving me crazy every time I turn around
Super cool. The original Xbox really is a system that keeps on giving.
I remember in "Full Spectrum Warrior", you could unlock the official army training version with a code. That was also a separate .xbe on the disc.
hey, i vote for an xdk setup video for the original xbox, pleeeease?
Yeah getting it set up on both a chipped xbox with a modded bios and a softmodded xbox with a bios loader is a fun process it would make a good video.... Never tried it on a flashed TSOP xbox but that's probable not a wise idea anyways :P
I'd love that, given that there are a bunch of things I'd like to develop for the OG Xbox, and I have a dual-boot softmod
Namco Museum and Pac Man World 2 also contain hidden and unlockable arcade games.
Thanks for the awesome rundown of these titles! I only knew of Panzer Dragoon Orta but I never looked into any of the others, I do own Shenmue 2 so I'm happy to know I have 4 more games I can play in that :D
Same thing to me!!
:d
Hey it's MrMario :)
:0
Spy Hunter (2001) for Xbox contained the original 1983 arcade title namesake on the disc, which was unlocked by entering the profile name Ogspy when making a new file. I was surprised not to see it in your video!
damn good catch - i totally forgot about this one. Have the game too!
Sounds like you've got enough suggestions here for a part 2 video.
Great video man. Actually, everything I've watched on your channel so far today has been great. I don't know why I held off on watching your stuff for so long. Keep it up!
likewise my friend. your content is A+++. keep it up !
Modern Vintage Gamer Aw, thanks!
First hidden game I found was the awesome snail game when I got my UK Master System when I was a kid.
Was on original American SMS as well.
Project Gotham Racing 2 (for the Original Xbox) contained the game: Geometry Wars and could be played via the in-game garage. Also, I'm not sure if it would count in this case, but Jade Empire had a playable demo of Conker: Live & Reloaded (as well as another game that escapes me) that was playable via the main menu.
I love games that come with old classics as a bonus. I bought quake 4 the other day and it freaking came with a bonus disc with a beautiful version of quake 2! It’s so awesome. I remember when I learned I could play old nes games in animal crossing. I immediately bought an action replay disc to unlock all of them.
xbox vids are the best. we need more emus. maybe Sega Saturn?
MarcoLoves360gamer It's a very tricky system to emulate. There was a bit of a breakthrough over a year ago but I've not heard anything since.
Loving the xbox related videos!
Loving the shitbox videos.
I'm sorry, but the Music in the TMNT Arcade Ports sounds Horrible
and for Turtles in Time, it noticeably recycles music from the first TMNT2K3 game (i.e. Skull and Crossbones uses the Street theme)
First hidden game I ever found was Snails on SmS. xD
Timmer Ratajczyk I remember hearing about the Star Wars arcade games in Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike, and by the time I heard about them being in Rogue Squadron 3, I had unlocked two of them. I just didn’t know they were on the disc.
This is a great video. I didn't know about any of these.
Classic Gaming Quarterly Agreed. Great video.
man
you're the only person who has shown that you can do a lot with the Xbox than it was designed to do
So crazy!! Right when you said “the earliest hidden game I remember was the original Pitfall on the PC Pitfall” I was saying and answering the same thing in my mind. I was so blown away with this and thought it to be the coolest thing.
Another one I remember was being able to play Maniac Mansion on the computer in the game for PC “Day of the Tentacle”. Which btw has been ported to iOS for 5$. When I bought it was so happy to play it again but I also went immediately to the computer in Ed’s room to see if Maniac Mansion was still able to be played and sure enough it was. $5 for two incredible games is well worth it.
Not technically a game in a game but Doom on DVD unlocks a demo for Doom 3 when put into an original Xbox
Brisk Guy Same with some of the Star Wars DVD's.
Same thing if u put Van helsing on the OG xbox u get to play the demo of the game. I think with King Arthur too
Chronicles of Riddick too
And Hulk
Great video MVG! I recall Doom3 BFG Edition has the Original Doom and Doom 2 on it :) Although you can play anytime as I recall no need to unlock
Great video! There's definitely a few games I need to add to my library soon.
It's really cool that House of the Dead 2 and 3 are on the same disc for Xbox. I've only played the Wii version and I must say 2 is oodles tougher than 3, so it's only appropriate to include the prior as an unlock.
That Mortal Kombat ports on the original XBOX are better than the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
There is one noticeable con, given that it's the same game from the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 compilation, it has the problem which maps the Start button as the pause button as well, which makes Random Select, and the ability to fight Smoke (by pressing start at the Portal Stage after you do an uppercut that reveals Dan Forden shouting Toasty) very impossible.
Haha you are the best man.
Great i'm also mortal kombat fan from the begin yes . Thx for the tip. The game s.monks is al ready on HDD :) it was not my favorit i got always stuk in l2 ,butt i go to the map and look for the old one
Doom 3 Collector's Edition has The Ultimate Doom and Doom II: Hell on Earth unlocked right away. Not sure if those are separate .xbe files or not though.
I think there are, I mean I saw "DOOMLAUNCHER.XBE" the other day and I think that's for doom 1 and doom 2
I remember that Shenmue 1 on Dreamcast had 2 games too. I think it was Hang On and Space Harrier, and other arcade games like QTE events, and Darts.
I freakin' love it when developers include such little old titles!
They won't gain anything from these anymore anyway, so it's a good idea to include them to raise the value of the new game!
Not really an unlockable, but the DVD of The Chronicles of Riddick has a playable Xbox demo on it.
Am I the only one who wants to go back to being a kid and having all these systems with the knowledge you have now
Had no idea about the Panzer Dragoon secret, and it looks a lot better than the PS2 port I have! Very nice video as usual, thanks.
its actually much better than the pc port runs smoother and good controls
PC Port also requires a very specific graphics card to run
@@Agret No it doesn't. It had SUPPORT for the NV1, but worked with virtually anything. It has a software renderer.
Source: own the Win95 PD, never owned an NV1.
Actually You Can Input A Cheat Code In Shaolin Monks To Play Mortal Kombat 2 Immediately.
in COD WW2 if you go down to the beach in the HQ area, there is an arcade system with all Activision titles on it from the 80s
The first Geometry Wars was a playable arcade machine in the car garage in Project Gotham Racing 2.
Unlockable games have been out before the Xbox, I find it more fascinating on weaker hardware:
Donkey Kong 64 - Donkey Kong arcade.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy - Pong and Galaga
Animal Crossing 64 - Assortment of Famicom games
Pacman 2 - Arcade Pacman 1
Space Invader Gameboy - Space Invaders Arcade (when played on the SNES super gameboy)
Trying to run Prince of Persia 2 outside the Sands of Time doesn't work, it always shows a "There is a problem with the disc you're using. It may be dirty or damaged." error. You can use a trainer to unlock it in game though.
Yeah i kept getting the dirty disc error, shame as pop1 works perfectly
All these xbox videos are sure to bring attention to xlink and the console anyway.... love it keep it up, got a few mates to buy an og because of xlink!
Xlink was always pretty dodgy for me, used to use XBConnect to play Halo 2 mods :)
Anyone else try to get the hang on xbe to work in shenmue 2 only to have it crash and reset the xbox?
10:51 Hold up. is that a Windows Executable on the Xbox DVD? anyone test that on PC yet?
I used to use a lot of PC mods with Xbox games. Custom cars in the GTA Trilogy, Creature and weapon addons for Morrowind that kind of thing.
The OG Xbox was essentially a PC, and most of the games file wise were identical to the PC Versions, just .exe replaced with xbe was the difference.
So wouldn't surprise me if you could run a Xbox game on a Windows PC if it had the included .exe file needed.
Only limits to mods as I recall was you could only use up to 300mb of them at any given time due to the way cache worked on the machine and its physical limits.
Hell even some modders who got things like the PC version of Quake 3 Arena running on the OG Xbox.
@@lincolnmckean8082 Wouldn't surprise me if it was that easy. But that's the thing with Emulation, people aren't trying to create an .exe file, they want the games to be original Xbox games in every way. Otherwise emulation would be pointless, and that's the point to emulation. Having the 'authentic' experience.
Seriously though, looking at many Xbox games and comparing them to the PC versions, they are essentially the same in every way aside from the executable designed to launch them.
I modded my GTA Trilogy using the exact same tools and methods as modding it on the PC version of the games. Wish I still had my OG Xbox and .iso's.
Would love to see if If for example I could just paste say PC's Morrowinds game files over an Xbox version not overwriting anything and see if it would work lol
@@lincolnmckean8082 Probably having no Windows bloat between the games and the hardware helped.
Also the games were optimized for the system.
No worries about if your drivers are supported, having the right CPU, GPU etc. like you can you get on PC.
I think it's just the fact the Xbox was designed to be a game/multimedia machine, while PC's are more of a all round workhorse where every machine is different.
But indeed good system for its time. Can only imagine what they could of done if they had filled in all the memory slots for 128mb, and had popped a 1.3ghz cpu in it.
Doing that they could of seriously blown the competition out of the water.
Sadly keeping costs down won out again.
I only have ever returned one game in my entire life and that was the TMNT 3 Mutant Nightmare game. I purchased and slogged through the first section of that game purely for the unlock of the arcade version of Turtles in Time, but the bastardized version they had of it in there filled me with the purest of disgust that I didn't even want to own it anymore. I hear that the Battle Nexus unlock of TMNT Arcade is even more fucked up.
Not really an unlockable, but if you have the start-up disc for the Xbox Live Arcade, it has Ms. Pac-Man on it ready to play.
Cool about ms pacman in there, what disc look like?
@@rustymixer2886 I think it just says Xbox Live Arcade on the disc, but pretty sure the slip-cover has Ms. Pac on it (may also be on the disc too). I forget all the ways the disc was distributed, I know it came bundled with Forza 2 (dont remember if it was on same disc or separate), Pretty sure it came as a pack-in with some consoles and I even think it may have been a freebie given away at certain retailers. (not 100% sure on that)
@@mr.vidjagamez9896 awesome thx you like forza 1 better 2?
@@rustymixer2886 only ever got around to playing the original so cant really say which I would prefer over the other
@@mr.vidjagamez9896 ok cool thx for info tho
Prince of Persia 2 outside the Sands of Time doesn't work for me, it always gives me a "There is a problem with the disc you're using. It may be dirty or damaged." error. And apparently you weren't able to run it either. The original Prince of Persia runs fine though.
Good video here. Learned alot. However, you don't need to beat either TMNT game (thankfully) to get those unlockables.....LOVE Turtles in Time, but the voices and music make me cringe......Will be getting Ninja Gaiden because of those unlockables.
Pitfall remake for xbox includes the original one too.Doom 3 has doom 1 and 2.The second bonus disc of the special edition of halo 2 has halo flash based games.
Good old House of the Dead 2.
Suffer like G did?
Great stuff! Quality entertainment for any game enthusiast.
You are my current favorite UA-camr.
And I feel like it's not going to change.
your perspective is very close to my own, in regards to retro gaming. Thanks for the vids, MVG, they are a fantastic reference tool and very interesting/informative. I've been enjoying your work thoroughly :)
Mistake: Pitfall! doesn't have music from Pitfall 2.
The MK2 port is probably running too fast because the arcade machine runs at 53-54 frames per second and the port is probably running at 59-60 fps.
Man i played the shit out of House of the Dead 3 and 2 on the Xbox, it blew my mind back then that it had 2 on the disk. Sadly a school friend wanted to "Borrow" it with the lightgun i had and i've never seen it since.
SoulStorm64 the light gun is pricey now. That's a shame
Should never have lent your gamez out
light gun is also unusable on modern TVs so there's that
Wolfenstein enemy territory for xbox at completion unlocks Wolfenstein 3d full game.
Reminds me of making my own multi disc games with MxM back in the day. Searching for the correct .xbe. to launch the games. Good video
Surprised you didn't mention Ninja Gaiden Trilogy inside Ninja Gaiden. Had no idea about the Panzer Dragoon being inside Orta.
Could you IMAGINE games including full, and fully tested, OTHER games like this as throwaway unlockables nowadays? They're nickle and diming us for all this meaningless shit inside lootboxes and constantly forcing "remaster" ports, and here we have ENTIRE fucking games ported or bundled with specialized emulators. Unbelievable... Blows my fucking mind... times have changed.
I had an original Xbox with the Xecuter3 modchip installed. It was 3 years before I decided to install a custom dashboard. Wow, was I hooked. I installed the EvolutionX dashboard that came packed with numerous other programs. A region free DVD player, a disc ripper and the ability to use game trainers, plus a few others. I had every game for the original Xbox ever released in the USA. I think it totaled close to 840 games. I wound up giving it to my son due to getting a modded XBox360. Now I don't own a console at all.
On Pac-Man World 2, you can unlock some of the older Pac-Man games in the arcade.
I've been talking with the old plastics manufacturer for Xbox back in the day and he's been answering a shit ton of questions and telling stories. He's given me contacts for people who worked on SDKs/devkits/debug kits as well as the configurations (DVTs). If you have a list of questions you want answered by any of them, let me know and I'll pass em on. I'll make a large thread with all the answers and info.
In the Hangon folder in addition to the XBE file there was an EXE file, is that just a leftover or does it actually worked if popped in to a PC?
I really enjoy the topics of your videos, but wish that you didn't sound like you were reading from a script most of the time! Your outro is natural, and hope to see more of that. :)
ps- really does suck that the Turtles Konami games had changed soundtracks.. very odd. Thankful that I picked up the Classic ver on XBLA, way before it was delisted.
I can understand Konami / 4Kids not having the rights to the '87 cartoon's voice cast and music, but how could they not have the rights to the music made specifically for the games?! I'm pretty sure the PSN/XBLA remake of TiT used remixes of the the original music, so this doesn't make any sense at all!
Outrun 2 has the original Outrun as an unlockable.
I actually went through the trouble of unlocking the TMNT Turtles in Time unlockable on Gamecube by actually playing through the requirements which was a pain in the ass, & like the Xbox one changed the soundtrack, but oh well, it was an authentic achievement LOL...
Do any of those retro game collections like Sonic Mega Collection Plus or Namco Museum work with this trick? Thanks!
The reason Mortal Kombat II runs slightly too fast is because the Game was actually designed for a 54.9Hz refresh common on arcade displays at the time. Since the Xbox doesn't support that refresh rate, the game is sped up accordingly.
This isn't really unlockable but when something doesn't load on your Google web browser the little dinosaur pic is actually a game. Click on it and use space bar to jump things.....really cool if u never knew about it. I had this girl show me one day who found it by accident. Enjoy! :)
Yep, love finding hidden games. Death Tank on the Saturn version of Duke Nuk'em 3D was the first I found out about.
Who in their right mind would even want an Xbox? It's an inferior piece of shit. Sony and Nintendo are superior.
Does someone mention geometry wars in Project gotham Racing 2?
Without a modded xbox it can be accsessed while picking your car. Press Y and now you are in FPS Mode. In the room is a Arcade.
The TMNT games did the same fiasco as the Shrek game for Xbox & GameCube, where it's based on a kids show (or movie), but it gets a Teen rating, it's just kinda weird.
Is there a list of unlockable games on the XBOX? I looked but couldn't find one. I know NARC on the XBOX has the original arcade game
You are definitly the xbox master hacker. However would love you to make a video best way to how to hack the wii and add a hard drive with roms or wii images running . Or better yet whats the best way ti exploit the xbox with a custom dash currently
What about games hodden in the code that can't be played in game? Kind of like Rareware's Goldeneye with its bonus games and emulator just being on the cartridge.
Timesplitters has a version of snake
What is Suffering2_Gold.xbe in Mortal Kombat? (P.S. Holy Antidisestablishmentarianism, Batman! Is that a Windows executable for Hangon in Shenmue 2?)
It's The Suffering Ties That Bind demo.
Kino Konformist kind of like how Tony Hawk Underground 2 for the PS2 had that demo for that BMX game that nobody cared about?
James Miller Mat Hofman Pro BMX! It was basically THPS with a bike skin...
I liked Mat Hoffman Pro BMX, not as much as Dave Mirra's freestyle BMX, but still liked it.
Also Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder, Basically THPS with a snowboard skin along with Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer
xboxhangon.exe is more likely to be a debug version of the XBOX executable that the developers forgot about. That said, it's not unheard of to find dev tools left behind on retail discs. For example Splinter Cell Double Agent includes a windows executable called DareSpy which is apparently an internal Ubisoft Canada tool for monitoring the Digital Audio Rendering Engine.
Great vid as usual Good way to start the day, heh.
Hey MVG, you should do a head to head comparison on the newest Shadow of the Beast original on the ps4 vs actual Amiga Arcade and so on... maybe a comparison on other games. Folks love these I guarantee!! ;)
I totally knew about the Zork one!! My closest high school friends and I were playing on h computer thing in Black Ops & I'm going through all of it & he's like "how do you know all this weird cryptic shit to enter into the computer? And I looked at him like he was an f-ing idiotic and said "these are standard DOS commands...You really never used a computer prior to Windows 95?!?" (Him & I were both born in 1985)
The Doom 3 Collector’s Edition for Xbox contains Ultimate Doom and Doom 2. The ports are a bit janky and not sure if they are easily copied to hard drive, but they exist and are pretty playable.
TheScreaminGoat they also have split screen local multiplayer, which is always nice! It’s always in quarter screen sections, though, so if you don’t have 4 people, part of the screen is just black. Like I said: janky. They’re also on the standalone Resurrection of Evil release, along with the Master Levels for Doom 2.
Well, I’m not sure if this counts, but the original Geometry Wars is available in Project Gotham Racing 2 (or was it the original?) when you walk up to the arcade machine in your garage.
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved is also available in Project Gotham Racing 3 this way, but Bizzarre Creations had the foresight to also make it an Xbox LIVE Arcade title.
You can also get games like Panzer Dragoon original to boot without the CD too. However you need to copy the whole Panzer Dragoon Orta game to your Xbox HDD into a new folder (preferably within the 'Games' or Homebrew' folder on your F drive). Open up that folder once the files have been copied, rename the default.xbe to something else (doesn't matter what). And then rename the 'PD1.xbe' to 'default.xbe', the game can then be launched automatically without the need for the disc or using file manager. Neat trick but be aware that it does take up a fair amount of disc space but if you've got a large HDD installed then it's something to consider.
I hae always been bugged that UMK3 never was released on any compilation on the OGXbox. I have tried many different methods of loading the UMK3 version that can be ripped of the PS2 MK Armaggeddon version but with no avail. Emulation is out of the question.
Also, thanks for the many emus you developed in your days Lantus!!! Im specially enjoying now the MAME 0.72 on Xbox 360!
My favorite hidden game was not on the xbox, but the sega saturn. It was called Death Tanks. It was on the Duke Nukem 3d version of the saturn and there were two ways to unlock it. One way was to destroy every toilet in the game as you beat it. The other way was You had to also own Quake on the Saturn and have a saved game on the saturn's hardrive from each game, Duke Nukem and Quake. Then the game would be unlocked. Death Tanks was a 7 player game that was like Scorched Earth or Worms but instead of taking turns to shoot each other, it was an all out shoot fest! They remade on Xbox live back in 2007 with updated graphics.
I am a huge fan of playing Saturn and Dreamcast ported games on the Xbox because of the similar control scheme and to many of us Dreamcast fans, it is a spiritual successor and our Dreamcast 2.
That being said, I know there is a Midway Hits compilation out there with great games like San Francisco Rush 2049, 4X4 Thunder, Hydro Thunder and more.
I think somebody in the comments below mentioned the Saturn ports of Dead or Alive 1 as well. But also Crazy Taxi 3 kind of also has the first 2 Dreamcast games available inside of it as well.
I had no idea about HOTDII being on HOTDIII, sure it was an arcade port but the Dreamcast was an Arcade based machine.
5:52 ...but not the GameCube.
Also, you don't have to beat the games to unlock them. You get close with TMNT 2, but TMNT 3, you only have to get through "Episode 1" which is like a quarter through the game.
Dead or Alive Ultimate included a playable version of The Original Dead or Alive playable on a 2nd disc does that count?
Midway's NARC remake from 2005(?) came with an unlockable NARC arcade game from 1988
I actually did this method way back with Panzer Dragoon Orta to play Panzer Dragoon & I only had a modded Xbox 360 & fortunately it's backwards compatible & it worked perfectly.
It isn't just video game consoles that have hidden games. Much digital lab equipment has hidden games. For example, the HP 54600 Oscilloscope plays Tetris.
My custom modded xbox been on orginal screen for years I haven't been able to get it back to my modded screen I believe all of my modded games and emulators are on there but can't get it going from the original screen!!!! Help!!! Anyone , any information can help!!!! Its been stuck on the xbox screen for few years I'll be available all day tomorrow. Im not super computer expert so just can give me tips information on what I may need to do or have to do thanks in advance!!
Someone probably pointed this out...but the first print of Ninja Gaiden (maybe Ninja Gaiden Black as well) has all 3 NES NG games on it. Can't remember how to unlock them.
Ninja Gaiden Has Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2. I remember playing that game 2 times to unlock everything 100%. :) But... We can play these on Emulators, no point.
Im late but there was an arcade game in « The Warriors » game
You forgot the original Ninja Gaiden 1,2 & 3 that played on the NES you could unlock after collecting all of the golden scarabs in the Original Xbox version of Ninja Gaidan.
So I did all the steps u did during 7:50 for turtles in time for panzer dragoon 1 and it doesn't show up in my games at all but it does show up in the file manager, but there is only a PD1.xbe file for panzerdragoon, there's no .DAT file
It may not be a unlock-able game, but there was an unlock-able movie in "Destroy All Humans!". It was some 60s era movie about some human looking aliens that wanted to colonize Earth or something.
