Terra Nil is a reverse city builder about ecosystem reconstruction. Turn a barren wasteland into an ecological paradise complete with different flora and fauna. Then clean up, leaving the environment pristine. Subverting the builder genre, Terra Nil is about the restoration of a ravaged environment.
The Let's Try series is a way to preview / review games in order to get my first impressions through the first moments of gameplay.

Terra Nil, from eco-warriors Free Lives (Broforce) and recycled publisher Devolver Digital, presents players with the task of environmental rejuvenation.
The phases of wasteland reclamation
Begin with the water system, slowly purify the soil, and cultivate pioneer greenery. Embark on more ambitious tasks, restore biodiversity, fix the climate, introduce wildlife, and finally recycle all the structures you used to get there, leaving the environment pristine.
Unique, procedurally generated maps
Each region of the game has its own flavour and procedural generation palette. Yet even within a region, no two playthroughs will be the same.
Picturesque landscapes
Navigate sprawling, verdant, hand-painted environments where everything but the rocks move and breathe. A meditative soundtrack and stunning audio palette will accompany your efforts.

On my first play, I only had the exact amount of leaves needed to perform my final cleanup and managed to meet both the win and lose conditions lol. It brought up a message saying I had to restart, but I was able to hit the launch button.
@@Yacovo Task failed successfully.
Would definitely love a series on this. The gameplay is just so relaxing and satisfying
This is one of those games I don't think I'd want to see every day, but like a video a week on it would be super dope. Something nice and relaxing to watch every once in a while.
I would love to see a few more episodes of this, very relaxing watch.
Okay, i don't comment too often but this time is for a special occasion. For the past 2 years , since i saw your last video on this game, i've been obsessed with it. For two whole years i stopped by and checked every single city builder game and every sim management that you covered without a clue on this game real name. Now i feel relieved .. i feel whole again, thanks Retro.
A very interesting take on the city building genre. Can’t wait to see more of it!
I wonder if you'd ever get a new planet?
I wouldnt mind seeing a couple more episodes of this. It looked like there were a few more parameters to manage beyond temp and humidity. It could get pretty interesting.
There are more climates and regions like tropical, tundra, continental etc on the same planet in game and each region as a second level. Tropical is the next stage after temperate and introduced 'temperature' to climate mechanics alongside humidity, next is tundra which adds a third parameter, I think every region adds a new parameter and game gets complex.
@@clovebeans713 I think the main thing that makes it so interesting is that they change and remove as well. There are three different types of recycling phase, 11 biomes, the terraforming equipment available varies by biome for each of the 8 "levels" for lack of a better word, etc
Tldr: "you don't get to play with this toy anymore" is an similarly interesting puzzle to "here's a new toy to get right"
I love this game, I’m so hyped for the full release tomorrow
Not sure if you'll see this, but fynbos is a specific biome found in Sub-Saharan Africa, the devs are South African! It's pronounced 'fane-boss'
Boy oh boy do I need more of this one! Such a peaceful game, Mr reto. We needs it.
Not normally one for the City Builder type games, but this is just such a great concept. I will probably pick this up myself, so many games lately that I actually kinda want.
I don't know if I have ever yelled as much at a screen. This is relaxing?!??
Happy to see content on this from my favorite UA-camrs, would definitely watch more of this
I found you through your Hades playthrough videos and I really appreciate your clean and calm commentary! Watching you play Terra Nil was refreshing and really fun. I would definitely love a few more episodes on this, even if it’s a more casual play through.
Retro, this game is one of nature and beauty. It is hard, but when compleat you will feel compelled to fix our own world. Keep playing this game, and pick up trash too.
That controlled fire was the funniest shit i saw today
Are you still interested in playing more? I'd definitely watch! Added this to my wishlist. 😊
We need more of this game!!!
is there a story behind it ?
exactly why are we building a lush environment ?
where are the workers, their accommodation and their supply/sustenance ? waste management ?
ABSOLUTELY CAN't wait till i can play it myself just bought it
please make this a series!
This games looks amazing - and it's right up my alley. Thank you for doing this!
Yet another game to put onto the Wishlist. Thank you for exploring gems such as this, Retro~
Definitely would like a series. Note that you can see the exact requirements for a species once you’ve completed it once (even if you didn’t manage to meet al l requirements yet). I know wander seemed to have some issues with the sonar system.
Release is in 15 minute. HYPE
This is really cool, i'm much more into it than i suspected i would
I've been waiting so long for this game! I'm planning on buying it but I would love to see more playthrough as well!
More Please! Was great and enjoyable to watch!
THis looks amazing Reto!!
Fynbos is directly translated to fine bush.. you get it in the Western Cape of South Africa
The video was great, am subbing to see more Terra Nil gameplay!
Would love to see another episode or two of this
"looks like you have to manage temperature in this one, which is quite cool"
I personally would love to see some more Terra Nil
I would love to see more of this if not just to have something relaxing to watch
I was like, WHAT THE HECK is REVERSE city builder, and decided to take a half day off to watch this and several other newest videos while I'm at it. It was worth it. Haven't got time to watch the last 3-4 The Last Spell, anyway
(I'm my own boss, so I can do it even though it's just Tuesday)
Hoping for another series with retro !
I'd love to see more Reto!!!
id love to see more of this
I'm not going to watch you play through this one, because I want to play it and I don't want to spoil it for myself, but I'll let the video play to the end to trick the algorithm for you.
Broforce team surprises me. Devolver not so much, they tend to take more risky titles under their belt and it gave them a lot of games that don’t really mesh which isn’t bad
Awesome vid
the last step of the game is to put a deadspace marker
From South Africa where we have fynbos biomes. It's pronounced Fain (like pain) - boss (should sound similar to soz)
Landscape Urban Planning the Game I ove this
Game is Beautiful.
Curious... can you use an excavator structure on another excavator structure and work your way out to the river bank?
Fynbos: Afrikaans for "fine bush".
MORE! :D
i m inspired to do a minecraft peacefull terraforming
More episodes maybe? :D
There’s no way you played this on your channel 2 years ago, it has not been that long please be joking! I watched you play the demo the day you put it on UA-cam but I swear that was like 2 weeks ago
I know right, 21 months but holy moly it feels so wrong
More!
Some buildings can be rotated with aaargh.
Series 👀
If you didn’t know before hand you can silo the silo
Not in the full release unfortunately, that was only possible in the demo
Hey Reto. It's pronounced "Fain-bohs" ❤, It's not an English word, it's Afrikaans.
great game
Fynbos "fein boss"

This game seems so chill is it possible to lose?
oh totally, there is also a super customizable difficulty system though if you want a real challenge
Does this game have a campaign?

This is all good but wind turbines are terrible for the environment lmao.
