LP6 sweet spot is a bit "far" at about 6'0 to 6.7 feet where you get the absolute best detailed base sound. A thing closer the base gets lost which is very annoying because I have these on my computer desk at a meter or so.

I ordered some LP-8 and I’m pretty excited, but at the same time I’m glad I got them from a source with a great return policy. I’m hoping the reviews are legit, but I have a few doubts about some paid advertising going on... we shall see...
UPDATE , gave my mini review in replies... overall I’d say get ‘em... just look into the size of 6 vs 8, 6 might be better for you...

BRTL I will when I receive them, shipping delayed, kinda bummed they aren’t here yet... not an “essential” item on amazon apparently lol, they must not know me... Not in stock at sweetwater and oddly Guitar center doesn’t carry them and the local store is closed anyway... 😢

BRTL Finally received them.... 1st impressions are, 1 the hiss isn’t nearly as bad as some make out, not sure if that problem was corrected or some are just expecting total silence, my laptop fan, which is pretty quiet is all I can hear. Haven’t bothered putting my ear on the driver because I don’t listen that way, but I hear no noticeable hiss. They are on stands directly behind my desk about 3 or 4 feet from my chair, so fairly nearfeild. 2 they are pretty tall, my stands are at the lowest limit and the tweeters are just a little too high, it’ll work fine but didn’t really think of that, only focused on checking the footprint would fit my space... After listening for only about an hour I’d say they are pretty good, the high end is really nice, very smooth and I’m sure won’t be fatiguing, seems to be detailed enough. I don’t hear any harshness or smearing in the highs. The mids are smooth as well, fast and punchy. The lowend is not as prominent as I was expecting, also very fast and smooth. I haven’t fully adjusted them yet, but two things I’ll have to figure out are, the gain seems low, I’m running the XLR input and have the gain on +6 and can’t seem to drive them to full level, they get decently loud, but I’m pretty sure there is more there. I’ve also got the low shelf on +2db, not that the bottom is really lacking, but it seemed like it needed a little more. I’m just playing around with them now so haven’t tried to dial anything in yet. I’ll have to get the meters and signal generator out and see what the drive levels actually are and need to be. Nothing wrong with it, but I’m able to overdrive everything else I’ve had plugged in. But yeah they sound pretty good, money wasn’t really a factor, obviously I wasn’t looking for $20k ultra high end, but I’d say they’ll keep up with most stuff out there under probably $5k. Clearly they were designed properly and aren’t just whipped out and stuffed in a box. What you get for the money is subjective, more money will get you better maybe. My concern isn’t necessary better, but that they don’t have anything that’s objectionable, and these don’t seem to. I don’t need ultra precise clarity, because who has that really. They are good enough to be used by anyone regardless of price is what I’m thinking about an hour in... some might need to know levels are exactly matched between all 4 drivers, that usually requires custom installation with tweaked crossovers designed for the exact environment. Other than needing that level as a true professional reference, I’d say they are fine for just about anything else and are probably a little overkill for home use, for $200 I’d say that’s a deal. Nothing totally wrong with them and nothing really stands out when listening on them, pretty much what you want is to not notice the speakers, and they deliver there. The 8s work fine for me, but I’ve got a large desk ( 3 feet by 8 feet) with stands behind it. For a lot of people that plan on putting them on the desk I’d think the 8s might be a little too large, so something to think about (Tweeters are 13 1/8 inches from base so stands need to go lower than most will to be perfect).
