I have listened now to most of the UA-cam posted songs and find them very relevant in todays world. I find it disappointing that the first 3 albums are not out on CD and the triple album collection is not available anywhere. Not even their own webpage sells many of their albums. What's the point of creating an important message musically if you're not going to have your music available to purchase? I agree with everyone the these guys are incredible musicians. Like a lot (not all) of their songs, but they need to have their music available to purchase. I did purchase a couple of albums and I'd like to add more, so I'm hoping somebody might light a match under their feet to get the production of their albums going.
I am enjoying this discussion! Big fan of The Call...Had most if not all of their albums. Michael Been (RIP) had a great voice! I Still Believe Let the Day Begin (such a positive song) You Run Are 3 fantastic songs. How about a show on ranking The Alarm albums?
This is a band that should’ve been huge! I got into them about 8 years ago when I heard the original version of I Still Believe. They have a great catalog and it’s a shame that they never became a big household name. Modern Romans is my favorite album of theirs. Great show, guys!
Interesting takes from everyone and this is one of those ranking shows where I don't really agree with anyone. I knew a few songs from the radio before seeing the Into The Woods tour and being blown away. I don't have everything, but my top 5 is: 1) Into The Woods (by far my favorite); 2) Reconciled; 3) Let The Day Begin; 4) Modern Romans; 5) Red Moon.
@@bmboldt Right, but we seem to disagree on why we like each album other than Red Moon. That was the point I was trying to make. Thanks for reading the comment.
thanks for this ranking. I had not heard of this band. Now after I had listened to some tracks, I am sure I would buy some. Here in this part of the world Greece, they haven't reached us. Thanks for all your rankings. I am 51, with a sizeable collection of prog, classic rock, hard rock and metal albums, as well as pop rock. Now this is a scene I haven't paid attention. So many bands. Thanks for Pablo Cruise, The Knack, this one. Can't wait for the next one.
Man, wish I’d been (heh) on this one. I only had Reconciled, Into the Woods and Let the Day Begin, but I love the hell out of all three. Never could find copies of the earlier stuff. I also have the Michael Been solo album. To me, this band sounds like it’s twice removed from goth. This stuff is solidly in my wheelhouse, whereas I’m not really into the sunnier stuff Grant and Steven usually prefer. XTC doesn’t do much for me at all, but The Call really works for me. I’m very surprised Schnee likes them at all. My top two would be Into the Woods and Reconcilled, not even sure which one is number 1.
My preference is always the poppier stuff but the Call had great tunes throughout their career. I still love them just as much as I love other bands of the era - if not more!
Thanks for this. You neglect to mention for the newbies that Michael Been died in 2010 so there is no possibility for new output, which is a big reason why this underrated band is gradually being forgotten. Big Country has this same problem and btw you should do their discography as well. Bono guested on What's Happened To You and I Still Believe Is most famous for Tom Capello doing it in The Lost Boys.

The Outfield is another one they could do

I did a Big Country episode over a year ago, but we just looked at The Crossing
Good discussion , remember the band but totally ignorant concerning their catalog . 👍
