You just don't know how much this has helped me and my sister my dad past last may and they live in the country. We've moved home to take of mom and were kinda learning alot of things. So thanks so much. You dont know how many times ive taking tires into get aired up.
Good rope trick. Thank you very much!
I'm a Bernie Mac's Mobile Auto Repair Service...I need something like that
Oke
Man you save me time, frustration and cost. I've spent all day trying to get this tire air up and your video immediately helped. I'm glad there's still capable people in this world. You rock!
Just use a ratchet strap
Thank you for this video. My husband and I spent 2 hours trying to get this damn tire on. Neither of us have a father to teach us any of this stuff, so it means a lot to us that you're teaching something that may seem so trivial to most. I almost cried when we got it on! Thank you!
That's awesome! 😂 well done.
The rope worked like a charm and I didn't even have to take the front tire off the lawnmower. I just lifted the front end and put a jackstand under it. I used a heavy duty screwdriver versus the metal pipe. Total repair time was about 5 minutes, which included set-up and clean-up. This is something I will always remember. Thanks for sharing!
I used a nylon rifle sling with a small pry bar. Worked just as good as this video....😎
As an ex pro tire fitter, let me say, NEVER use automotive or any other petroleum based grease on a tire. Over time it can attack the rubber and it doesn't dry up, so can encourage the tire to slip back off the bead seat if it comes under an extreme sideways force. These tires should only run about 15 psi max.
If you don't have the correct type of tire soap (that's what we used to call it anyway) use some hand soap diluted in water. Not hand cleaner though, just from a bar of soap.
I gave you a thumbs up though, because your rope 'belt' was spot on. We had a type of cinch strap which also had an inflatable tube inside it.
And yes, a roof rack strap can help, though cheap ones may not be strong enough.
Secondarily, if you can rest the rim on something so that the tire walls won't touch your bench or floor, you can then push down on the tire and the back bead, in this case, should come in contact with the back of the rim and pop onto the sealing face.
I could see that every time you pushed the air line onto the valve stem, you pushed the rim away from the back of the tire. ;¬)
A 'clip on' type air connector will help the situation too, as you'd have both hands mostly free.
A little liquid soap is all that's needed.
So don't use grease use bar of soap and hot water then do it with a rope wrench
@@Repurplecirculation
You are correct in that silicone won't attack the rubber but, it is too slippery and doesn't dry or dissipate readily. Soap is the best. It stays fluid long enough (without drying) to seat the tire without becoming an issue later with a lateral force on the tire pushing it off the rim.
Most of all he removed valve core NOT valve stem.
Prefer following You !
DUDE - you are the man. Flat snowblower tire and couldn't get the wheel off, and of course it was the bead at the back that was off. This worked like a charm with a ratchet strap. You are bromance material brother. Thank you thank you.
This saved me SOOOO much aggravation, thank you! I used a ratcheting tie down strap, I didn't even have to take the tire off my snowblower or use any grease.
Goose Gosselin I’m having this same problem with my snowblower. Hoping that works as well as you say!
@@Durgondkir Be careful releasing the ratchet strap, I had to really squash the tire down to get the tire to seal to the rim, once I got some air in, the strap was under a ton of pressure, it released like a bullet.
@@GooseGosselin Once the bead is seated, let some air pressure out of the tire to remove the strap, and re-inflate the tire to proper pressure.
I used a ratchet strap with the wheel still on the mower and it worked! I didn’t remove the valve stem. I’m back up and mowing. Thanks for the awesome knowledge.
Nice job DW6, I've usually used a ratchet strap, but great to innovate with the rope and pipe.
My husband went to tractor supply to get fix a flat thinking it would seal it but I googled air tire off rim and after 1St try it worked! 4 years later and your video is still helping people thank you so much.
Doublewide6, Thanks a lot. My generator tire goes off bead on a regular basis. Your method worked beautifully. I just cleaned the bead area on tire and rim, wrapped the rope and put the air to it. Didn’t even have to remove the valve. Thank you!!
this video helped me fix my tire on my tractor, BIG Thanks!!!!!!
Struggled for an hour n decided to tube n found ur video .....now my tire is all aired up n I’m mowing d lawn..thank u brother
Those little tires can a real pain ! Good job .
THANK YOU! This is why I love UA-cam! This morning I couldn’t get the 13” tire from my pop-up camper to seal. I watched this video, used a ratchet strap and sprayed the rim/tire with a little water. BAM! It worked perfectly! Thank you again for sharing your knowledge! You saved me some money and a lot of time!
Great tip. I enjoy your videos.
Thank you, sir!
My little hand pull dump cart was overloaded by someone, we won’t mention my name. All four tires popped off the rims. I watched another of your videos which is just using the rope and a lever.
It worked for two of the four tires. Had to give up until morning -too cold and dark to finish tonight.
I’ll try the hot water and bar of soap, too.
Happy cart person here who will not try to carry too much bagged concrete mix at one time ever again!
Thanks again!
Good info. Thanks for posting!
You are a lifesaver! snowblower tire popped off the bead today while clearing the driveway from storm #1. With storm #2 arriving this afternoon I needed some help. This simple repair using a rope (i used rachet strap) put enough pressure on the tire to go onto the bead and let me fill it with air THANK YOU!
That looked easier than the ratchet strap method, or the brake clean and fire method😁
DW's method is a good one, too, but the starter fluid/lighted match method takes about 30 seconds. Let me tell you how I learned about it. (Profanity Warning) A old guy was watching some of us younger guys try to rebead a tire and really screwing it up. Finally he'd had enough and started in on us. "God fucking damn it. You fucking shits don't know fucking shit . . . " You know how it goes. So while he's igniting the air with profanity, he's getting brake fluid and a match. He puts a couple of squirts of fluid in the tire, and we all gather around. "Get the fuck back, you stupid fucks!" So we step back. He throws a couple of matches at the tire. The third one takes and the tire flips about five feet into the air and comes back down. We're all amazed that the tire is perfectly set. "You know what to do now, you stupid fucks." Lesson learned!
Sounds about right. But I won't recommend it. A tire AND wheel ain't no game ball!!!
Navy or Marines?
Thank you Brother - it worked! I was thinking that I had to wait until tomorrow to get to Town Fair Tire for a repair then thought to check UA-cam. Found you, easiest of ALL materials needed, and it did the job in MAYBE five minutes (once I wrestled the damn tire of the lawn mower...). I did use a squirt of Dawn for dishes around the bead area and it worked perfectly. Thanks again!
Helpful and practical! Great vids as always!!!! #DBLWD6
And a contest? Yes!!! Enter me please.
You didn't remove the valve stem. You removed the valve core from the valve stem.
Thank God it’s a video too😊
Picky, picky! Removing the valve stem probably will require replacing the stem.
He called it by its proper name. A Schrader valve, since you wanna be picky
Nice trick to inflate the tire. Once when my snowblower tire with a plastic rim separated, I filled the broken bead with petrolem jelly. It was enough to let me fill the tire. This was before I got into UA-cam videos to help. Count me in the contest! Thanks.
Petroleum = no on tires
Dish liquid = ok
Used the rope method to successfully inflate my wheelbarrow tire that was sitting around flat for more than 10 years - thanks for that useful tip!!
Your video was helpful. I have a spreader that has an unseated tubeless tyre. I will use your methods to eye if I can get it back on the rim. As a recent widow I am finding myself having to fix things and not knowing how. Instructional videos like this are soooo helpful. That portable air compressor would be great to have especially in an emergency or working away from home. Thank you. Kathy
Have been using that method on all tires for over 25 years. from a small garden tractor tires to big rig tires. Used ropes, chains with binders to ratchet straps. I have used a blow gun shooting air into one side and had luck seating the bead on small tires. Same process as a bead blaster on big rig tires. Good video.
Two years ago my snowblower tire bead broke and I was unable to get the tire off the shaft (even after heating and beating). I procrastinated last year and didn't get it repaired. I intended on calling the repair shop and expected to pay for pickup, delivery and repair 💰. I tried the rope but the rope I had stretched then broke. I used an old cheap extension cord, a screwdriver and wrench handle. A big thank you for the video. I was able to make the repair myself with the wheel still on the blower. ☃️❄👍
Just did a 12" tire using a ratchet strap(actually a cam lock strap because I despise ratchet straps) using this method and it worked perfectly.
Thank you!
Great video. I never thought of the ratchet strap. I been trying forever to get my trailer tire to seal and inflate with no luck. Put a ratchet strap around it and some dawn dish detergent and it sealed right up. Almost went and bought another tire and rim but this video saved me from that. Thanks for posting this
Great explanation. You be surprised how many tire places that will not fix a lawnmower tired. I used dish detergent like dawn to help seal. It worked....thank you so much. I used rachet strap..so much easier.
This worked for me! Used expired crisco in place of grease (didn’t have it) and ratchet straps. Used free air compressor at gas station. Thanks for posting!!!
Thank you so much. I used the rope and pipe method. It's all I had? You are "the man"! I just shook my head when it aired up and said to myself, some guys are so dang smart. Take care.
Worked like a charm. The small front tire on my Zero Turn Mower. I cleaned the bead and the bead part of the tire as another UA-cam video suggested. Could not get the tire to seal until i watched your video. Holding at 42lbs. Will see what it looks like in the morning.
I remember watching my dad do that. Now almost 50 years later I'm doing it on my mower tire. I use a cable and a screwdriver. Works everytime. Good tip to show the young guys.
doublewide Repairs LLC Well done, I've done that on wide Bobcat tires a few times and it works but with a little more difficulty. There's another way but I don't think it's appropriate for the general public.
Well I'm only 3 yrs late for the contest. I heard Audew makes good lithium jump starters. Project Farm did a comparison test and Audew came out on top. Thanks for the video! 🇺🇲
I was going nuts trying to make a bead. Your rope trick worked like a charm! Thanks so much for some great advice!
Thank you for helping me inflate the tire for my rider lawn mower. Since my husband passed I have to do things on my own
Enjoy and learn from your videos. I just bought a Harbor Freight mini tire changer. No longer suffering with small tires.
I have a pair of tubeless trailer tires that have sat unused for a year because I could not get them to hold air. I did the grease and rope tourniquet and it worked perfectly. Thanks!
Thank you for explaining about the valve stem and the ability to fill it once the stem is removed. Only video that actually explained it
this worked like a champ...a bit of grease and the rope did the trick...taking in to consideration the comment re: automotive grease on tires i plan to clean it off as best as possible...fortunately for me, the tire is on a log splitter that gets moved/pushed by hand and wont have much over the road - at-speed - exposure. thanks for the video
That's how we did tires in the 60's. It was an "air belt" that was inflated to push the bead out. Good tips. Thanks.
Thanx 4 the vid bud. My old man just passed away mid-last yr. & I have NO idea about any of this stuff. my generator cart tires will be back 2 normal right away. Keep it up.
Hoop/Suzette
Good luck everyone on the contest!! Those little tires can be tough to re-bead. I used to work at Sears mounting tires after school on a Coats 10-10 machine. We had an inflatable tube we could place on the outside of the tire to serve the same purpose of squeezing the bead against the rim. Some of those old bias-ply tires could be pretty rough to seat. I love Zip's channel...he's a character to be sure!! Thanks, Bob.
thx for the help. i had no grease but used olive oil around both side. worked fine. thx again .
Thank you Sir for your video. I had 2 flat tires on my tiller. I had to change the valve on both. I used the grease and rope combo and it worked. Thank you!!!!
Thank you very much. I am a 75 year old woman and with God's help and ur video I was able to get my tire back on the rim and fill it!
Yeah me too..78.. hope I get it 🤷♀️
You are a genius thank you so much! I wrestled around for an hour trying to get this tire fixed! The rope thing does work people!
Nice job on that tractor front tire .
It works! I used a ratchet strap looking at a foot of snow on a snowblower tire....Thank you
Liked your video. I have used my belt to squeeze tire against rim. That works pretty good too. Thanks
I was lost when my tire went flat. I didn't have an air compressor, and couldn't get the tire off because it was seized. This worked like a dream. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for this video, it helped me a lot. 😊 I was putting on a new tire on my snowblower. I tried the ratchet strap method first, but that just resulted in a lot of cursing, lol. The rope, a tire spoon to twist the rope, a shot of air from my table top compressor with the valve stem removed, and success. Although, I did shoot the valve stem up to the ceiling on my first attempt. Thank you again. I do come to your channel often.
I have tie down straps and a compressor
I have seen a few videos guys setting their tire of fire, like WTF
After watching Double Wide's video
He saved me time as I was going to do the same darn thing as Double Wide6 LOL
Yup got my compressor out, tie down straps
Now I am going to check on the tire in a day or so and see if I still have 20Lbs in my tire.
Thanks Double Wide6
Montreal, Quebec
Used a ratchet strap. Worked like a charm. Toro ztr front tubeless tires. Thanks for posting
Thanks man for this video. My tractor tire was completely flat and off the bead. Thanks to your video I was able to inflate the tire. Thanks again.
wow- just used a ratchet strap on a hand truck tire- worked like a charm- thanks for the tip!
These are the best videos, people showing you how to do useful stuff
Hello I am a professional DIY , Electrician. I really enjoyed the video and I am grateful for you allowing me to enter in the drawing. Keep up the great work and information for UA-cam and be blessed.
Used a ratchet strap on my walk behind snowblower tire and it worked like a charm. Thank you!!!
I struggled for 1.5 hours. Watched this video and fixed my tire. Thank you bro! God bless you
Just used grease and some pressure on tire and worked like a charm! Appreciate the video I am a lil paranoid so that starter fluid trick turned me here. MUCH SAFER haha
I needed this video. I am a female and do a lot of repairs by myself as my teacher/brother passed away a year ago. TY
Awesome tip. I've struggled for years with these things, even resorted to putting tubes in. This should make it much easier. Thanks.
It worked great. Thanks for the tip! I used a ratcheting cargo strap.
Just discovered my snow thrower tire was off the rim and we have large snow storm on the way. Can't wait to try this and see if I can fix my issue without even removing the tire from the blower. Thanks
When I was younger I worked at a service station and they always put me in tires when they came in and I literally forgot that trick thank you for the refresher course ☺️👍
Lorenzo
Great video showing how to compress the tire w rope and expanding outer sides to make a seal
I have used a ratchet but not a rope, great idea. The compressor would come in handy also. Thanks.
I should have watched this video before I bought another tire! I just needed to reseed the sides! I didn’t realize. 🤦🏼♀️ Thank you, I’m going to try this first! 🙌👍👍👍
Did the tie strap trick and it worked! Thank you so much!
Thanks for this! I'd tried the ratchet strap/rope method and a bunch of other things but nothing was working. Then removed the valve stem and gave it a blast from the compressor and it worked great for me. Never would have thought of that.
On my lawnmower, rototiller, wheelbarrow and lawn trailer tires, I use soapy water and occasionally use some bead sealer. For my bead seating, I use a piece of 1/4" rope with an old lawnmower pull-type starter handle. I tie a truckers hitch or load binding knot which gives me compound leverage to get the bead to seat. Still a good video. Thanks for sharing.
JUst had to use your youtube video to fix a flat on my lawn tractor. Worked great! The Audrew tire inflater looks like a handy tool to have around the house. Thanks for the give away!
Good tip. I found it worked well without using any grease.
Great tip with using the rope to seal the tire bead. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! The ratchet and strap I was using to compress the tire wasn't cutting it. Rope trick and wrench (and knee) hit the spot. So beautiful watching it inflate.
Thanks. I used an old wire rachet that comes with an above ground pool cover with strong twine and it worked equally well. I didn't even have to remove the stem core. I did tip up the snowblower to take the weight off, spray water around the seal on both sides to help it seal, then used a portable trickle pump since I didn't have my big compressor handy.
Thank you! Ratchet strap worked like a charm even though I only have a mini tire inflator.
You gave a nice detail on how to do this. My tire is a mess totally off the rim, but step by step, it gives me a new look at fixing my own. As a female, I am willing to learn everything to become self-sufficient and not rely on shops if all possible. Thank you. I would appreciate it if you could put me into your drawing win or lose I subscribed.
Thank you so much. This worked. It's hard to do with brand new tires though because they resist bowing outward. I had to use two tourniquet ropes one over the left side of the tire and one over the right and then I pulled both of those tight as I could and then tied them off. I also used a little Vaseline around the edges of the rim. Then when I started the air a little hug and pressure started building. Yea! It worked. Thanks so much for this. Some guy at a lawn store wanted to charge me $100 for doing it.
Thanks!! I didn't have a rope nearby so I used a narrow ratchet strap which worked perfectly as well.
I don't even live near tractors but your videos are entertaining!
Great job buddy I had the same problem !! Going to go and try your method !!👍
Thank you. I always have issues seating small tires. This will help.
I did this for my snowblower tired but the bead separated again. No use but to add a inner tube. Great videos. Thanks!!
Holy cow that rope method was just what I needed for my go kart project the left rear tire is loose and doesn’t want any air this just saved me money thank you very much
I just inherited a riding mower and this is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much.
Still the coolest video.
I can't stop watching...
I was having trouble seading my lawn tractor tire. Nothing wrong with the ol school method👍 thx for sharing
Brilliant rope trick. Fixed hand truck tire that had been sitting in garage for years.
Thanks this is just what I was looking for I nave 3 tractors and always have some problem with getting them to seat
Just used your hack on my John Deere ride-on - worked an absolute treat - thanks man!
Thanks .. 1st time repairing a tire ... strap worked like a charm
Tried the ratchet strap method and it worked great. Thanks
you really learn alot here -- he tries different ways so you learn each time. I'm a rookie but feel like Im not a rookie w/ just a few mins watching this guy.
Thanks for the assistance. Saved me a trip to somewhere to get this fixed.
One rope, some Vaseline and a compressor later and my electric ride on mower is good to go aga.
