Glorious citizens of Verra, thank you for tuning into our monthly development update. It has been a pleasure engaging with our community in A2 over the last month. Let us know your thoughts on there monster coin prototype and our new giants! And Happy Thanksgiving to our fellow Americans ❤️🦃🥧
Here's an idea for your consideration: you could add more realism and variety to the game by introducing subtle variations for the same mobs. For example, giants could wear different styles of clothing, while bear mobs might have unique scar patterns or different fur colors. Similar to character customization during character creation, implementing randomized features for mobs could make them feel more dynamic, diverse, and engaging for players.
I'm sure this is on the roadmap, hell they have an Elk mob that changes colours with each season... i'd be staggered if different coloured mobs weren't already under consideration?!
Team, you should always provide subtitles. There are many people who, like me, don't have enough English to understand the pronunciation on their own. So subtitles provide a way for everyone to follow what is being said. Since I know that you care about the community, I know that subtitles will be available soon! 😁
I think the tree rez animation could use some work on the tail end of it. At the end when the tree is fully grown it just kind of abruptly stops growing. Trees are organic things and I think it would seem more organic if the tree slowly stopped growing at the end as if the player could not tell that it had actually stopped. Amazing fight though! Cant wait to get in there!
Big mobs like giants need to inflict lots of heavy knockdowns/knockbacks and maybe giants could also have a grab/throw where they can literally pick a player up and throw them at either an object like a tree/wall or even at other players I think this will make mobs more exciting to fight
Glorious team at Intrepid, it was a absolute blast of an update stream today and I'm proud to be part of this community and to be a content creator for ashes of creation! Can`t wait to test the new features coming with Phase 2!
If you guys apply as much love to the questing and the final polish for the UI (and maybe a little quest/character progression hand-holding at the beginning of the game) then this game is gonna rock HARD! 💪 Also, and I'm not sure if this is in because I'm still relatively low level but, position-based attacks (such as bringing aggro to a tank by standing behind them and doing a 'stab around', etc.) makes combat more fun and engaging. Final Fantasy Online had some amazing combat because it had position based attacks, you could chain moves with other players, etc. It really brought an amazing dimension to combat.
Idea: a ability/talent that a respective character could do or a boss. Something called like "Soul Ripper" rips a mimic of your soul/essense out of you (if a boss does it) from your back violently and disgustingly and frantically attacks you. Or you do it creating soul-mimics from mobs. Would look insane if it's not a single target but a few mobs if a player does it or if you do the route of it being a boss thing it does it to several players in one cast. It being AOE for either.
I was outside the tower mining copper by the river. I heard some shouts and saw a server message about some dark flame, but didn't think much of it. Now I finally know what happened lol. Doing this sort of event on a live server is so cool!
I don't remember BDO's skills that well but in Ashes you basically have skill synergies. Like debuffing an enemy as a Bard and then using a skill that deals more dmg based on the enemy's amount of debuffs. The Mage can put points into skills that deal bonus dmg by doing combos. Like freezing an enemy and then using lightning to shatter an enemy. There are definitely skills you don't just want to throw out whenever, but use under the right circumstaces.
so how will the ancient ones fight be if i just stop pretending to be a npc and just target healers..? i feel like it was only shown trough the raid cause it had to be staged cause no way an actual player wouldnt just focus the healers..
Why does the world look so gray/foggy? This would look so much better with vibrant colours! That is my only feedback right now, the designs look amazing!
Have you guys thought about or plan on adding a visual of defeated mobs having their bodies despawn? Currently they blink out. I think it would be a lot of work but I think it would be cool if the body decomposes (if it's biological). Changes color, grows dark bruise spots, cuts exaggerate, until bone appears and shrinks in areas til its mostly gone then gone. Or just have the bodies stay longer assuming players move area soon. Blinking out looks weird
Will monsters have interactions with each other? Like, if two giants get close maybe one pushes the other and it yells at him or something? Or two monsters are close and start grunting at each other. Monsters always just walk around and do nothing in most games. Having the monster react somewhat to other monsters adds so much immersion.
AOC Team I have a question and I don’t understand social media I’m just a UA-cam boomer! Question: As someone who doesn’t have a PC and is in the market to purchase before launch: Can we expect the system requirements to change / increase before you guys launch the game officially? Thank you!
I know they won't respond - but I got you. There's always the possibility that the system requirements could go up a little before launch, they're mostly aiming for stability in Phase 1 of the Alpha 2. I will actually be building a PC before the "real" launch, so if you're intending to look for a PC before then, maybe you could use my specifications! I will be waiting to purchase a 5000 series GPU from Nvidia (probably a RTX 5080) and hoping to get a real good CPU (I have always been Intel fan, but I only hear bad things lately... I know for a fact AMD performs well though!) This CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor is what I will intend on getting (it's cutting edge stuff) My budget will probably be like.. $1750 - $2500. I currently have a 3070 Ti and i9-11th gen PC and I run on Medium graphics easily, but obviously this being the game to rule all games... I wanna be prepared!
@ Wow, cool! Thank you so much for the detailed response. I will base my plans off of this as it sounds like a safe bet It’s interesting you mention the AMD processor. I’ve heard through the grapevine that they might run cooler as well! So I was planning on going AMD as well!
So what you’re seeing is actually the ability Prismatic Beam. Mages start with a passive ability, Elemental Empowerment, which enhances their attacks with the element of the last spell they cast. This has a few effects, but they’re not super important to this specifically. The Prismatic Beam spell (the “flamethrower”) takes on the element of the current Elemental Empowerment, and gains extra effects based on what element it is. Fire applies burning, Lightning causes damage to chain between enemies, Ice chills, and the unempowered (no element) version restores some mana. Normally, a Mage can only have one Elemental Empowerment at a time; casting a fire spell gives you a Fire Empowerment, and if you then cast an ice spell that Fire Empowerment is replaced with an Ice Empowerment. While a Mage is in their Arcane Circle ability however (the big circle you see around them) they get a magic power buff and different Elemental Empowerments can stack. This then also means that Prismatic Beam takes on the effect of every Elemental Empowerment you have. So let’s say you cast Arcane Circle, then Fireball, Lightning Bolt, and Cone of Ice, now you have all three Elemental Empowerments. If you then cast Prismatic Beam, it will burn them, chain damage, AND chill them all at once.
Please rename the Giants to something else like "____ Giant" fallen, exiled, tormented, etc. Then you can use the giant framework and reskin it for different zones where it fits "Ice Giant" "Fire Giant" etc.
I love what they are doing with the game and the community, but it is strange that there can be a mention of delays on what is the biggest and most direct system in the archetypes, while there is development on something that does not pertain to every player in the same dev update. The monster coin should be set aside for development on the world and more specifically the archetype system. I understand that there isn't always a direct link between time spent on one thing and time spent on another, but it makes it look as the priority of being the raid boss for a big streamer's raid is higher than getting the rouge online. But regardless, the rouge and summoner is part of the system players are most directly interacting with. And the fact that they've stated combat is the most vital part of the game, the rouge and the summoner should have already been in alpha 2. I am enjoying alpha 2 a lot, and it feels like a game where I can actually BE the character, but core systems are not even remotely done for testing and showing monster coin before the highest interactive system (archetypes) is in a testing stage is shortsighted.
-Giant, should have lots of stuns and knock backs. That may also alow him/her to re-target another player until stun breaks. Love the jump, slam and kick. -dont love the mob stacking in same spot. -different death visuals, back, side, face down etc would be cool and I would think that could be across all npcs -monster coins not sure how it's set up, but was thinking that the skills could be opened and closed as well as timers base on monster phase/health. Also love the extra ability base off your MC experience lvl -group raid and heal targeting, allow organization to prioritize or self organize your targets even through groups 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 -
The longbow deals more dmg but is slower. The shortbow is faster, which probably triggers more finishers (I couldn't really test if this was actually the case yet, but it would make sense). The short-spellbow also gives more cast time reduction than the long-spellbow.
Steven spawned both of these right on me on the Caetus server. 1st was a giant which was literally spawned in the path of my attacks, and then he spawned a demon in Winstead
i love what is about to happen in the MMO world. if you were to ask me tho, what is missing, it would be monster variety within one monster type. it would change the atmosphere so much, if it was not just that one irish baldy copy and pasted. what if you would utilize some sort of randomization in the different aspekts of that body: -hair colour (just 3 or 4 recolours) and hair styles (maybe 10 or so), same with beard -male and female variant -different clothing and again maybe 3 or 4 recolours -height modifier i have no idea how making a monster in UE5 works, but i imagine you build it around a skeleton with different assets. and if so, just use a randomization tool for the respawns. ofc that counts for all monsters. that would do so much for immersion and the beauty in it would be, that you can constantly increase the pool of assets over time, and it would get better and better as the game ages.
I got to heal a group while farming these giants and I really enjoyed the game play. My class felt like a piece of the puzzle that our group was with lots of heals needed, bards were able to keep things running smooth by helping where needed. Rangers and Mage got to focus on their combos and synergy because the tank was able to learn the well animated mechanics and react as needed. These were a really fun engagement!
Daddy Steven and team, y'all are doing an incredible job. After watching for some years, I finally joined Alpha Two and it's great considering its only Alpha. I CANNOT wait for Summoner. Pet classes (and nature aesthetic classes) are my vibe. Please do Summoner justice with making it a legit pet class.
OK WAIT! THE FACT THAT THE DEVS CAN TURN INTO BOSSES AND MONSTERS MAKES ME HOPE WE WILL GET CUSTOM LORE EVENTS THAT DEVS MAKE UP ON THE FLY! PLZ PLZZZ PLZZZZ! It will be just like the old Never Winter Night / DnD Online servers. Omfg
Now that AI can control screens we could easily start seeing AI playing as bosses just like a player playing their own character. Without any coding necessary to make it happen from the devs.
The /bug needs a suggestion box.... I for one want you to add the Concaine bear to the game, as there are already a few cray cray bears we need a real roamer thats just hella mean and aggro/relentless! After all what is danger if danger can just be outrun! What is a trap that can just be avoided, ;)
Different Speed of Adventuring-, Artisan- & Node-Progression. How do you intend to Balance those Progressionspaths so they feel connected as I think it is intended? And as you like to answer followups ;) What about Item Deconstruction?
woot I can't wait to possibly (?) have the option to play as a perceived (and potentially complex, or not?) enemy/intentional villain/opposition/etc. (possibly misunderstood/etc., or not?). I can't wait to possibly (?) have the choice to (sometimes?) play/experience/experiment with such a role in a roleplaying game.😄 To me (based on my knowledge of and experience in some other mmo's etc.) there seem to be a couple/few inventive and/or innovative features (as well as some tried and truly successful features/elements) being considered for AoC Alpha 2. I'm having a lot of fun playing this test (especially with others).😄
In my opinion, the giants are very small and moving too fast. The demons, on the other hand, are too slow, and it seems like the fight is kind of disconnected most of the time from the players. They were just walking around sometimes cast something.... I expected something different from your design, something maybe like the boss now has a magic shield, all mages (ow whatever) in the raid now casting specific abilities that dispel magic shields and the rest of the raid is boosting the mages and protecting them because bosses will try to stop them, spawning minions and stuff like that which could be banished or dominated by warlocks. I don't feel like any class is doing anything special in this fight. I like the raid leader, though. I love the enthusiasm.
so i've known about this game for a long time only started really looking at it past oh 3 months or so joined alpha and while i've had fun in many games. This is the first time i've felt that same feeling as I did back when I was just a teen trying out wow the first time. The sense of imagine exploration and everything is just amazing.
Too expensive for an alpha. Here in Canada, it's around $157, making it the most expensive game to date. I would be happy to pay a reasonable price to support the devs, but at this price... come on.
I don't know if this is nitpicky and not sure it's really a priority for you guys but have you thought of a system where if you/your party is fighting a few mobs, not a lot, that they get a hit box for each other or at least don't go inside of each other? I saw in the beginning of the giant fight that a couple were over lapping and I don't know but it felt really odd. I know games have this but it looked weird. I understand if you have a lot of mobs this might be difficult or run into issues of mobs needing line of sight competing against other mobs but if it's just a couple I think of the mobs don't phase into each other that it'll help a bit more for immersion.
The speed of the jump animation is exaggeratedly high, just like the Warrior's jump with that super jump that looks like Superman, with a jump from the Warrior you appear in World Of Warcraft.
imagine having that fight and enemy guild has rogues there to spy on and raid waiting somewhere outside just to come in the last minute to wipe them all out and finish the boss :P
............. c'est plat ....pas nerveu ...des couleurs d'enfants.. franchement je suis de plus en plus déçu de ce que je vois .......... plus le développement avance ......... plus je le trouve nul.......... je sent le bide arriver , malheureusement.......
Corruption has to be toned down for Phase 2. I'm not saying remove corruption, I'm not saying let people kill lower levels without punishment, etc. What I'm trying to say is that when someone is being annoying and they don't flag even if you flag, you should be able to kill them at least once or twice without turning red automatically. Either that or turn most of the relevant content into lawless zones.
honestly, it looks amazing. the UI, Trinity, tab targeting, is all great. The only red flags is when will we actually get an MMO out of this? the Alpha paywall is the first to the community tbh. What you put out looks great, but the progress is slightly worrying, considering the money you've already taken. this MMO is my last hope before the generation who was there in the beginning die out.
In alpha right now and it feels like a mmorpg, the combat is very nice the social aspects, crafting, I feel inmersed in the world...the game has great potential if they continue to develop and deliver on the sistems they promised.
not a fan of having to sit and rejuvenate after battle. That's such an archaic mechanic that really serves no purpose. Also hope this has legit 32:9 support.
That is not a problem since you sit down with X and regenerate mana and hp but at the same time you can use rations that regenerate mana and hp so is like you are eating+drinking in wow, you regenerate very fast is np.
haha I cant help but laugh when I hear full on MMO chat. "Please use Intimidating Shout. We have a 33.333% repeating of course, chance of winning...". I dont do stuff like this, because listening to someone talk like that would just annoy the piss out of me lol. But some people live for that stuff. Makes them feel like legit battlefield commanders.
while i do love the penalty for deaths, don't you think it might be a little too much for tanks? They'll most likely be the ones that'll die first and the most out of all the classes so shouldn't they get a decreased penalty? edit : finished the video and holy hell that was epic, can't wait to see what the max level fights would look like if lvl 25 is already like this

I completely agree with this idea. I would like to see giants with different facial features, physiques and clothes. So that they are not all the same
I like this. essentially make a "pack" of skins for mobs so you get variety.
I'm sure this is on the roadmap, hell they have an Elk mob that changes colours with each season... i'd be staggered if different coloured mobs weren't already under consideration?!
I loved how the res on thor perfectly synchronizes with the ending animation. i appreciate you video editor

this is looking REALLY good.
i love what is about to happen in the MMO world.
if you were to ask me tho, what is missing, it would be monster variety within one monster type.
it would change the atmosphere so much, if it was not just that one irish baldy copy and pasted.
what if you would utilize some sort of randomization in the different aspekts of that body:
-hair colour (just 3 or 4 recolours) and hair styles (maybe 10 or so), same with beard
-male and female variant
-different clothing and again maybe 3 or 4 recolours
-height modifier
i have no idea how making a monster in UE5 works, but i imagine you build it around a skeleton with different assets.
and if so, just use a randomization tool for the respawns.
ofc that counts for all monsters.
that would do so much for immersion
and the beauty in it would be, that you can constantly increase the pool of assets over time, and it would get better and better as the game ages.
Please expedite the release time of the global server.

@@brandonleuropa975 god help us if those goofy things get involved...
@@brandonleuropa975 A computer controlling NPCs? Groundbreaking!
Fantastic stream you guys are killing it
The /bug needs a suggestion box.... I for one want you to add the Concaine bear to the game, as there are already a few cray cray bears we need a real roamer thats just hella mean and aggro/relentless! After all what is danger if danger can just be outrun! What is a trap that can just be avoided, ;)
and now i want a cocaine bear easter egg special spawn lol
that ending was fire
UNBELIEVABLE
Wow what an epic music during the fight against monster Steven 😍
love that demon voice
Please whatever you guys do, don't implement instant dungeon/raid/group queues.
Friend was in pure danger from being struck from the sky ^^
Groups >8 players should automatically become purple.
so i've known about this game for a long time only started really looking at it past oh 3 months or so joined alpha and while i've had fun in many games. This is the first time i've felt that same feeling as I did back when I was just a teen trying out wow the first time. The sense of imagine exploration and everything is just amazing.
Yes it feels like great potential, combat is nice I got addicted to the game fast.
Can we plz buff Vengeance because for now is not even worth it wasting courage on it
Too expensive for an alpha.
The speed of the jump animation is exaggeratedly high, just like the Warrior's jump with that super jump that looks like Superman, with a jump from the Warrior you appear in World Of Warcraft.
imagine having that fight and enemy guild has rogues there to spy on and raid waiting somewhere outside just to come in the last minute to wipe them all out and finish the boss :P
............. c'est plat ....pas nerveu ...des couleurs d'enfants.. franchement je suis de plus en plus déçu de ce que je vois .......... plus le développement avance ......... plus je le trouve nul.......... je sent le bide arriver , malheureusement.......
pog
So sad that this game is taking forever.
Man, thor's voice is extremely easy to pick
EVERYONE. WATCH FROM 20:58
lol 18:47
So damn cool. Make mmos great again
I know y'all are trying really hard to make combat look dynamic, but someone take the wizard's jump button away. He's like a kangaroo on crack.
Why do you care how someone plays?
honestly, it looks amazing. the UI, Trinity, tab targeting, is all great.
Next person to call this game a scam gets to fight the Ancient One solo irl
not a fan of having to sit and rejuvenate after battle.
I don't dislike it, but as someone who also doesn't speak like this, it does sound pretty funny
while i do love the penalty for deaths, don't you think it might be a little too much for tanks? They'll most likely be the ones that'll die first and the most out of all the classes so shouldn't they get a decreased penalty?
edit : finished the video and holy hell that was epic, can't wait to see what the max level fights would look like if lvl 25 is already like this
Guys, please we need trade system or auction cause there is no mmo without trade and party finder would be great as well
no party finder confirmed and it's better that way the rest is coming in phase 2
looks ok, but the game play mechanics are so dated and boring. So tired of the whole healer/tank/dps gameplay,
No actually is the reverse...players like to be the tank, the healer...the reputation that comes that.
nah, bored of MMOs that rid of the trinity, too easy usually, and lack any mechanical depth
i highly disagree the trinity is what's fun about mmos
