You all are blessed. I wish I had the opportunity to give my grandmother a DNA test. My DNA results % were made of African, Polish, Native American and 5% unknown. Both my grandmother and great-aunt (sisters) look like Indians: they had the almond eyes, high & wide cheek bones, naturally straight black hair and very prominent red under skin tone. In retrospect: remembering them alive and now their pics, I still did not expect Native American % results. I have so many questions I want to ask them but they’re no longer here. 😞 You’re blessed to have a living grandmother. Please always cherish her while she’s here.
My daughter had some "unknown" In hers too I have not had mine done yet however I think the "unknown" factor is fascinating like what's that even mean?? I can't wait to do mine :) do you have a suggestion for a company I should go for ?? (DNA TEST)
The European part may have come from Scotch Irish who settled I Appalachia in the 1700 and 1800's who mixed with Native Americans, especially the Cherokee. They both originally assimilated quite well. The Cherokee then began to mix with African Americans.
Loved this video. Your grandma is adorable! I’m waiting on my results now. I guess another two weeks. My daughter has already gotten her results back in January and now it’s my turn!
Jasmine.....now that I'm a senior citizen I find I REALLY miss the elders I looked up to all my life. The thought that now I'm an elder and I have a responsibility to young folks scares me.....
Blessings to your grandmother. The confusion that comes with the DNA tests is that the companies use the Asian-Native American as a criteria for what's the American Indian blood type. Hundreds of years ago the American Indian looked like your grandmother, not the Asian American. This has been documented. That's why 'Black' grandparents said they were Indian. Not because they were mixed with Asians. You also have to be careful of the testing companies, they said they're just guessing and it's for entertainment purposes.
So glad you shared your Grandma's results. I wish I had some my grandmother's while she was alive. She lived to 99 (just 84 days short of 100). I would be interested to see how her sister's results differ. I love genealogy, but I have not had to research any in Africa yet. I am however doing my niece's husband. He is a descendant of a slave unfortunately. I am waiting for the price to be reduced again before getting his DNA sample done. I have no doubt it will make a difference when researching his story. Thx again for sharing.
@Carolynska S DNA doesn't work as easily as that. In every pregnancy there is a different mix of genes. Siblings usually inherit a different set of genes from each other. You have two parents, four grandparents, eight great grandparents, sixteen great great grandparents, you can see where I'm going with this.😂 Every child will have a unique mixture of inherited genes, so you will not be axactly the same as your siblings. Sometimes I imagine you could be very different from your brothers and sisters, that's what makes it fascinating. My brother has had a DNA test, I have sent for one. I'm looking forward to seeing the result. Another factor is the fact that mitochondrial DNA is only passed down from mother to daughter, the Y chromosome is only passed down from father to son.
You can still do it ,if you watch Who do you think you are?(BBC), you do it via records, it's not as fast but it's still there ,I'm what's called white! but I don't know half my ancestry ,the records were burned in Ireland in the 1920s, so I'll never know that way.
Awwww this was great!! My friend suggested that I did my grandmother's and I was about to give her my kit and I didnt...she passed shortly after. I wish I did it. Glad you got to do it for yours this is wonderful. I'm happy that it did show the native American. There have been many Nay sayers about it not showing in African Americans. I feel like if you have it it's going to show.
Your Grandma knew she was African. My Grandma was 76% African and was so happy. She gave the Native American story and it was a cool 0% with the rest being European. I’m 86% African.
Keep in mind that you can have Native American and it not show because very often the ancestor was mixed.(so decades later the percentage is negligible).
@@loribihlcox5944 Then it's not relevant. Why are you reaching? Black people have been in America for 400 years. If you had a Native American ancestor it would likely show up.
@@MrAmhara ,it might also show up for one relative but not for another. I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just reminding everyone that a DNA test is testing a sampling of your DNA. Native American doesn't apply to me.
@MrAmhara, not necessarily. My mom had/has Greek, west Asian and Finnish in her heritage. I had none of those. Also my mom had zero English, mine was/is 70% English.
How sweet that your grandma made it to see 101 years old! I wish my grandmother was still alive to know that this technology is now in effect for us to find out who we are. My grandmother told me that I had native American in our family on her side. I don't know what that percent is however I'm quite sure she would have found out the rest. My dad took the DNA test and told my daughter that his ancestral line was of the Kroo tribe in Africa.
AB Original Right n Exact AB... they fail to comprehend that there are the Siberian Mongoloid Native Americans and the 9 Ether Melanoid/Negroid Aborigine American. 2 clearly different groups of Americans. How are they going to challenge and discard Grandma's history and denote it to Africa. Did they even ask grandma does she have family from Africa? Any relatives? Or even heard of relatives from Africa. Walter Plecker's reclassification policy did a number on us and the simple minded offspring today is perpetuating it...smgdh. Umm excuse me if you've been here for thousands of years this is home let's cut the dumb sh*t ppl. I mean we are Negroids and obviously we are going to have similarities but please understand, "DNA kits are good for connecting family members and finding relatives thats it! An Ethnicity test isn't concrete. Theres nothing that confident for ethnicity. There are no diagnostic nucleotides to tell you a person is from Europe or Africa." Stated by Dr. William Gilliland Associate Biology professor of DePaul Univ. Peace King
God bless you, you have a grandma that’s 1001 years old, you are very lucky. Pay attention to everything she says they tell truth more than history books
Blacks do not sit with their elders and record family history , go about life like got more important things to worry about. Once the elders died that info is gone forever. Do the DNA test write down and record word they speak about family and life was like growing up.
Grandma is so BEAUTIFUL! LOVE AND CARE FOR HER THE BEST YOU CAN. JUST LOST MINE ... at 93 1/2 years old! WE WERE BLESSED TO HAVE HER SO LONG! Beautiful video. enjoyed sharing with your family!
Mexican and Native American are in the same group because they are all indigenous to this land. On the other hand your grandma is so sweet and absolutely adorable. It makes me miss my grandma she would have been 102 but we lost her to lung cancer 8 years. She had stories for days. Your grandmother has seen alot in her life. Please cherish every second with her. I don't know her but tell her I love from Kansas City.
Mexicans aren't "indigenous" to the area within the United States. Mexican isn't a race to begin with - its a nationality. Mexico does have a very large Amerindian population, but that doesn't mean their "Native American" in the same context as US tribes. Their homelands are in Mexico. Mestizos (the bulk of Mexico's population) didn't exist until the Spanish conquest of Mexico and the European, Amerindian and African slave populations there mixed. They are not the same as our Native Americans.
Jeff Morse Actually, Mexicans are both Native American and Spanish mixed (to different degrees). Mexicans do have Native American normally. American Indian tribes went south of the border thousands and thousands of years ago (8,000+ yrs ago). Remember, the US is very young. I have met people that are members of indigenous tribes from Mexico and they are indeed related to Natives in the US. Borders are superficial when it comes to genealogy. Besides that, both Texas and California were a part of Mexico at one point. The tribes in California are most definitely related to tribes in Central America.
Always Joedigirl Absolutely, you are right. Mexicans and Native Americans are both indigenous. As far as I’m concerned (as someone with European as far as I know), Mexicans and Natives have more right to the Americas than those descended from Europeans, including myself. Their grandmother is sweet! And she is doing so well for her age.
I believe that the Asian/Pacific Islander could be counted towards her Native American ancestry (since I don't see any other way it could've gotten in there), so your cousin was right on the money with her percentage prediction!
@@bulldogbrower6732 Just wanna point out that "Native Americans" didn't cross the Bering strait. That is like saying French people wandered out of Africa and through the middle east. The ancestors of Native Americans may have crossed the Bering strait, but modern Lakota, Dine, Haudenosaunee, Salish, and people of the other >1200 tribes of North America did not.
Then by that logic Europeans are African claiming there Asian means nothing they lived in the Americans they have nothing to do with Asia there indigenous in the americas that's all you need to know
Grandma is listening. She is not all that impressed, but she is listening. The things she has seen in her life time. What grand conversation that could and should be. It's good these two young ladies are paying attention to her.
Your results show if you thought you are of Mexican / latino heritage, you are correct. Mexicans are native to the land. Mexicans and Spanish people are different. One from Europe, the other being native like all other Native Americans. The Mexican people are the most torn down people in all of history because they were striped of their native languages, and were told that our decendants were all dead, which is not true. In your dna, if it says native american, it could include Mexican history as well. My husband is FULL blood Navajo. My mom tested her dna before me, and my husband and my mom are 8th generation cousins. In a way, I am related to my own husband. Because we are the same people. My own father speaks Nahuatl. He passed away unfortunately so I am unable to retrieve a dna test. But I took one myself and in my own, I got 80 percent native american/mexico. Because we are the same people. My mom says my father was full blood, too. I believe it. My mom is maybe 60 percent native american/mexico. You can find more about what you are in more depth if you download the raw data and input it into dnamatch. I don't understand the reason people think Mexicans don't like to hear they are part black. I already know everyone gets that result. It is in the bible, too.
Ok there are alot of things to point out here. 1. before Mexico gained it's independence from Spain it was filled with many indigenous peoples like North and South America for thousands of years and none of those peoples were "Mexicans" they had their own distinct cultures. 2. Most native american peoples are related to siberian and eastern asian peoples because of the Bering land bridge migration. There is so far only 1 piece of evidence pointing to any human activity in North America before 12,000 years ago when this migration took place. 3. DNA and historical evidence shows that most people descended from Africans who were brought to the Americas had closer ancestry to Europeans than the native tribes because of the proximity. This is also the case for many latin peoples including modern Mexicans who are mostly of European Spanish descent. The huge influence and expansion of the Spanish almost completely eradicated many of the natives during the Small Pox epidemic. Many African and Spanish people do not have significant DNA matches to other native people compared to many of the European colonizers who settled in the original 13 colonies. There was much more intermingling and contact between these groups than in South and Latin America where the Spanish attempted to eradicate the native populations. Many of the native tribes were typically either slave holders themselves, or they returned runaway slaves to the colonies as there were rewards for doing so. If you have African portions of your DNA it is probably more recent and most likely happened after the end of the Civil War when many former slaves began moving westward. It should also be mentioned that ALL humans are said to have come from Africa and migrated to areas like Annatolia, Asia, Europe and the Middle East so at some point we are all related. 4. This is all about science and data please refrain from using biblical references. It is appropriate in other scenarios but this isnt one of them. The Hebrew bible was not even written during the period that it's events occurred in and archeological evidence shows many of the events portrayed in the bible never occurred in the first place like Solomon building the Temple in Jerusalem or the existence of kingdoms in Israel in the first place. It is theorized that the 12 tribes and their kings were more akin to warlords like Gilgamesh in Sumerian legend.

damn, grandma doing better than the residents i cook for. For real, she is.
you are blessed to have your grandma at 101 years old and she seems to be getting along well.
Ahhhh 😍😍😍 I love her SOOO MUCH!! Her voice is as precious as she is!! What a beautiful group of ladies here 🤗
Love this! We did my 94 yr old black American grandfather’s DNA. He’s been told about Native American blood. He was about 80% African American but ZERO Native blood. We knew there was some European in there but we had no idea it was from Finland and Scandinavia.
Hahaha
She is so dignified and cute at the same time. Be thankful for her. Would love to have my grandmas with us still. Thanks for the video
Your grandma's voice is so precious!
Your grandma is such a precious sweetheart! And you are so so blessed to have her still with you! Thank you for sharing your DNA adventure with us it's always so interesting to see the results. And it just goes to show you know we all are very curious about our roots
Oh my Dear!!! Thank you for sharing with US this video full with #LOVE . Your GRANDMOTHER is the ⭐️ of the show!
I observed the way you both YoungLadies, spoke the Her. How CLEAN she was dressed, her skin looking healthy. But most of all, the RESPECT you both have for her! The LOVE...
🙏🏽God Bless GrandMother...
And, 🙏🏽God Bless your whole Family...
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
Carmen Figueroa Thank you. She is truly a blessing to us.
I agree
I just ran across your video with your wonderful grandmother. It looked like y'all have a wonderful family. It sure would have been fun to see some photos of her and her parents if any were available. I love old family photos. You're so lucky to have her and I bet she is a lot of fun. Not to mention a real history lesson for us old. Thanks for sharing.
She is so cute! Bless you Grandma for being a good sport and helping your grand babies understand their heritage. 💖💞
What a beautiful sweet grandma, I can tell you guys are good to each other! ✌🏼️💕
She is 200%. !00% Beautiful + 100% Adorable Also two Beautiful Granddaughters. 101 years of wisdom.
"You're European" "What's that?" "White!" "😑" 🤣🤣😂🤣😂
😂😂😂
It's ok grandma we don't know who these people are too
😂😂😂😂
Melanined Europeans.... not wight!!!!🧐 that's why it's a saying "If you want to hide info ect. put it in a book and a so-called black or so-called african American will will not seek enlightenment.🤔 By words we calling ourselves not fully overstanding. west coast of Africa, Ivory Coast and slave Coast . Not ; wight😔dive in to Portugal and Spain start of the Inquisition then it will all make sense.... shalawam 🙌😇🙌haya haya
Bit cheeky of the old lady with that response! I'm very proud of my European DNA. It's who I am.
(DNA TEST)
@@morganophelia5963they get updates that can uncover the unknown.
This was a fantastic idea ! I’m glad you guys did the test ! God Blessed you guys to have your grandma and her knowledge for soo long. 🙏🏾
Awe! Your grandma looks so sweet! :-)
I loved this. Her reaction to being told she's part White cracked me up.
I believe Mali was a great empire. Time to go visit.
but you aint catch her response to 88 percent african?
She was Only 6% European and you make her half white.
The European part may have come from Scotch Irish who settled I Appalachia in the 1700 and 1800's who mixed with Native Americans, especially the Cherokee. They both originally assimilated quite well. The Cherokee then began to mix with African Americans.
Blessings on your Grandma reaching 101! I wish her many more years.
Loved this video. Your grandma is adorable!
I’m waiting on my results now. I guess another two weeks. My daughter has already gotten her results back in January and now it’s my turn!
She's so beautiful! Congrats on your DNA results!
Jasmine.....now that I'm a senior citizen I find I REALLY miss the elders I looked up to all my life. The thought that now I'm an elder and I have a responsibility to young folks scares me.....
I absolutely love this video. Definitely makes me miss my great grandmother. She passed away in 2016 at 101.
You have a very sweet grandma, such a nice family :)
I only met my great great grandma once before she passed away when I was a baby. She was 104 years old. 😇
God bless her. I lost all of my grandparents at a young age. Cherish and always hold her in high regard
@@acavell6184 possibly from Irish or british in the british isles...
Aww! That smile on her face when she looks at you two 😍. Hope she is doing well, this video was a while ago.
DAMN SHELOOKS GOOD for 101.
BLACK DON'T CRACK.
Yes they do
Dude she looks old
I feel like people are to heavy on that phrase cuz some black people do crack
She looks brittle as a drumstick wtf do you mean🤣
You both are soo blessed to have your Grandmother in your life, enjoy her.
She is straight up adorable! Her sweet little voice .....omg too precious! 🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely! That's why we wanted to see once and for all.
Ari Have you taken the test yet? Does native American show in yours?
RIP to your grandma.
Yes I have taken the test and I will be uploading my results soon.
I feel you on that. I wish I could have done my grandmother's ancestry also.
That’s a lot to process.. The lady is like “I think it’s time for my nap” 😴
What a lovely family. Grandma is so precious.
@Car S, thanks for your comment. The results are a little head-scratching.
Imagine the changes she’s seen
How sweet that your grandma made it to see 101 years old! I wish my grandmother was still alive to know that this technology is now in effect for us to find out who we are. My grandmother told me that I had native American in our family on her side. I don't know what that percent is however I'm quite sure she would have found out the rest. My dad took the DNA test and told my daughter that his ancestral line was of the Kroo tribe in Africa.
amazing!! thx for sharing. Looking forward to see you and your sisters results too!
Your grandma is so cute. Lots of African american say they got some native american in them and it turns out to be not true.

NY Cpreme Thank you for pointing this out. We have to respect the oral tradition and our ancestors. They know / knew who we are.
AB Original exactly! They (commonly thought of as American Indians)are OTHER Native Americans NOT the only original Aboriginal Americans.
Your grandma is too cutie!! She is a great sport to agree to give you this family gift of history.
God bless you, you have a grandma that’s 1001 years old, you are very lucky. Pay attention to everything she says they tell truth more than history books
101 typo
Blacks do not sit with their elders and record family history , go about life like got more important things to worry about. Once the elders died that info is gone forever. Do the DNA test write down and record word they speak about family and life was like growing up.
I love you both. It’s a Blessing to be 101 years old. Take great care of Grandmother she’s a precious gift 😍😍
Your grandma’s lovely and how wonderful to have her with you into her hundreds!
101% absolutely adorable! Thx for the video!
I just love y'all and grandma too!! Her face when she told her she's part white was priceless!! Lol
So sweet I’m glad y’all was able to share the results together so sweet 😩❤️❤️❤️❤️
Aww grandma got more hair than most 30 odd year olds I know
Nice video! (Who could give a thumbs down to those sweet ladies?!)
You are all beautiful women - what a blessing to have your grandma at 101 years old ❤️
Granny is precious
Omg she is wearing 101 very well she’s beautiful!!! And her little voice so cute.
Jeff Morse what are you on lol Mexicans are Native American mixed with Spanish ( some ) we are no different from other natives
I believe that the Asian/Pacific Islander could be counted towards her Native American ancestry (since I don't see any other way it could've gotten in there), so your cousin was right on the money with her percentage prediction!
PI DNA is found in small amounts throughout south America in native folk, there was trade and interaction between both areas.
Native Americans crossed the Bering Sea when they came from Asia.
It could be Native or Malagasy. That Asian with Pacific Islander could be pointing to that as well.
How awesome!! She's a beautiful woman.
Shut your inbred ass up
Yall racist
Good point, you are correct
