      I actually don’t think it’s more disturbing at all. They just make the disturbing things way more obvious. If you consider characters with backstories such as Mikan’s you’ll notice that the other games can be just as disturbing, it’s just hidden more.
      But honestly? I think it’s great. Even tho udg was very disturbing, they didn’t exactly overdo it. And thus I personally like the idea behind putting such things in the game.

    I never see people talk about Ruruka’s death (probably because people hate her). Don’t get me wrong, I dislike her too, but still, her death scene is definitely one of the most visually brutal in the series. My theory is that whatever she saw in her video must’ve emotionally impacted her more than everyone else’s videos. It most likely had something to do with Izayoi, since she basically killed him

    • @Dressup_Doll
      @Dressup_Doll 4 роки тому +104

      Kirumi and Kaede’s executions are some of the harder or me to watch.
      Kaede is forced to play the piano while she runs out of air and her neck is slowly breaking.
      Kirumi is forced to climb up a thorny vine, be surrounded by saws, only to find that there is no escape, and finally, slam into the floor as she was still *alive*. It’s heartbreaking.

    • @pyro4151
      @pyro4151 4 роки тому +54

      @@Dressup_Doll I think the same. Kaede's death is horrible mostly because she went through a lot of pain before finally dying, but it's worst when it's revealed in the 6th class trial that Kaede didn't even kill Rantaro and that it was Tsumugi's doing all along meaning that she was executed for no reason. Whilst Kirumi's execution was truly filled with despair as she was given false hope that she would escape, only for that hope to be crushed when Kirumi realised that she was met with a dead end and that there was no way if escaping; only then to fall to her death knowing that

    • @ClownHearts
      @ClownHearts 4 роки тому +43

      Y i k e s
      Kaede Got tortured.
      Literally:
      •Playing the piano badly.
      Since the song is for new people playing the piano. It would be really embarrassing for the ultimate pianist.
      Also the song is most played on black keys, but she plays on white keys to hint us she wasn’t the real blackend.
      •The Monokumas were “insulting her”.
      They threw rocks at her, and we can see it badly injured her (at the end when it zooms at her dead body before it gets crushed).
      •The execution may have taken hours, since there was a clock behind her and when everything turns red, time goes really fast.
      Also I just want to say Kaede didn’t deserve that.
      Even if I love both Kaede and Tsumugi, Tsumugi should have been tortured like Kaede.
      Tsumugi just gets crushed by a giant rock, which seems unfair.

    Taka’s backstory wasn’t explored that much throughout the game since Kodaka even thought it would be too dark for a game like danganronpa... plus there are loads of fan theories that speculate that Taka was ab*s*ed and any of that sort (Taka also seems to be familiar with pain for example in i believe the prologue or ch.1 he says: “Someone! Hit me! Punish me!”)
    Also it’s highly speculated that Mondo was ab*s*d by his mom, abandoned by his dad, anger issues, and suffering from PTSD and Trauma of Daiya’s death.
    Also I’m pretty sure Ryoma was s3xu*lly h*r*ssed during his time in prison. He also went through a lot of deaths because of the mafia (ex: his girlfriend and his cat)

    • @Creatorsan
      @Creatorsan 4 роки тому +143

      Not gonna lie but Toko's backstory was dark, so I can't imagine how dark Taka's backstory would of gotten. I do know he had no friends and was meant to be the overly emotional character in relationships. One moment, (before Mondo's death) he was happy and felt like he was on top of the world. The next moment, (After Mondo's death) he was at the lowest mental state possible.

    I think for me it's how Monaca tried to get her friends to end their life to then just walk away as if nothing happened. There is so many issues in that. That moment made me hate her so much to the point is the character I hate the most in the whole franchise. Don't get me wrong, she is a good written character but she is written so you hate her.Also correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the pretending to be in a wheelchair was to make people bad for her and then she convinced her family that they did that to her

      You’re right and honestly I don’t understand how people are able to like her.

    • @tourmaline9647
      @tourmaline9647 3 роки тому +22

      I agree with you on that... I honestly _hate_ Monaca. When she used Kotoko's trigger word ON PURPOSE multiple times knowing damn well the effect it would have on her (triggering a traumitizing PTSD episode) was simply sickening and repulsive. Even if Monaca is a child, that made me honestly _despise_ her as a character. Not to mention how she forced herself on Nagisa and kissed him without his consent while he was in an incredibly distressed situation and a broken, depressed state of mind- he had tears in his eyes, for fuck's sake! Practicaly having an anxiety attack in front of her, that she caused! All to manipulate and humiliate him him even further (knowing Nagisa had a crush on her) was so appalling I felt sick afterwords. Of all the awful things she did, these were the ones that stuck with me the most. Knowing people ship Nagisa and Monaca together is horrifying and honestly a bit worrying- I can't believe some people believe they make a good and cute couple.
      I agree she's well written but it made me wish Nagito never saved her- it honestly made me happy that in the anime they stripped all of her character and made her become a NEET in space. She was a horrible, disgusting, manipulative, selfish and sadistic human being and completely unredeemable. The worst part is how unremorseful she was by the way she treated her so called "friends", not showing any regret or guilt. I think people who defend Monaca slightly forget the scenes I mentioned above or put them at back of their mind.
      I understand she was heavily abused by her family but is that really an excuse for all her actions and behavior? I don't believe so... She had to be awful way before that. All the other Warriors of Hope also suffered extreme traumatic abuse and yet they did not turn as horrible and Monaca. I'm sorry if I'm being a bit insensitive, but I honestly can not stand her. It's amazing how Danganronpa made me hate a character so deeply- and for that, I commend them. What a great villian, miles worse than Junko in my eyes- at least Junko was a fun character to watch on screen- Monaca was just completely infuriating.
      I'm sorry for replying to your comment from a month ago with a huge rant, but I've had this in my mind for a long time and just had to let it out. Thanks for reading.

    I think Ruruka did it to herself. In Makoto's scene we see how he had this weird dream where he saw his friends. Ruruka probably experienced something similar. She realised how badly she treated her boyfriend and best friend. She must have felt really terrible becouse she wasn't really a evil person. She was just scared of betrayal and insecure, so she acted like this to hide that. That's why she was so angry with herself that she cut herself like she did.

      I agree. When Celeste went to the physics room to inform them about how Hifumi's body suddenly "disappeared", they all just ran out and left Taka and Toko in that room. Like they could've at least have one person to guard the scene of the crime so that the murderer wouldn't be able to get rid of evidences or possibly kill Toko along the way. After finding out Hifumi being part of Celeste's plan, I immediately thought about how quick it would be to find out who the killer is. If someone actually guarded the scene of the crime, they would've caught Hifumi red-handed at that time when he went to the physics room seemingly bloody but unharmed.

      Something I dislike about danganronpa games;
      Okay so, I've seen this alot throughout the game. Characters just don't care for people's mental health, no one questioned why Mikan acts the way she is, no one bothered helping her, no one tried to talk to Nagito and try to figure out why he feels zero sympathy for the people who died(because any normal person would feel bad, so it's pretty obvious that Nagito's mental state is not at it's best) no one tried to stop Hiyoko from mentally abusing Mikan, NO ONE really tried to figure out the mental state of everyone like for example; Kiyo his mental health is f***ked up everyone whipped it off as "Ew you like your sister, GROSS" and it is gross but did no one really think why he ended up like that? He was literally $3xually abused when he was younger by his sister and she manipulated him into thinking she "loves" him. And like you stated; no one cared for Taka it literally looked as if he has not eaten and gotten sleep (a few people are exceptional)

      Yeah that makes sense. Out of the people forced to commit suicide i reckon she probably did the worst things, like using Seiko for her own benefit for years, having the biggest part in destroying her life and betraying her boyfriend. She probably hated herself and the video would be the most "genuine" if you see what I mean (makoto's convinced him that it's his fault that his friends died even if it isn't, but her video wouldn't really have to lie all that much to drive her into despair, so it would probably be the most effective).

    I think I can theorize a bit for what happened for Ruruka’s death. I personally think that as she watched the brainwashing video she tried to combat it with her own sweets so she wouldn’t kill herself. But as she was stuffing her mouth full of them she started choking on her own candies and such. This I think would also explain why her eyes are red, she would get subconjunctival hemorrhage.
    Explaining the stabs in her legs and such is a bit more open ended, I like to think she was also trying to avoid stabbing herself in the chest and would stab herself in the legs and such to kinda satisfy her urge to stab herself fatally it didn’t work however and she eventually succumbed and committed suicide.
    That’s my interpretation of it at least ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      We saw Makoto falling into despair because of the video and even though he is the Ultime hope, even he felt no remorse towards killing himself.
      In his case it was sheer luck that he survived.
      We know that Ruruka felt very guilty for the things she did - killing the person she loved. If you analyze her character for a while you’ll figure out that she was mentally extremely unstable.
      In the state she was after killing the only person that kept her stable, there’s no chance that she would be able to withstand such horrific mind manipulation.
      Rather, she most likely scarred herself to ‘justify her actions’ aka. because of guilt.

    - Nagito's Body Discovery (his face when he died haunted me)
    - Chiaki Nanami's Pain & Death where Izuru Kamakura cried (I cried about how Chiaki left the world in such pain.)
    - Taka pleading to Monokuma to execute him instead of Mondo.
    - Kirumi's execution (where she is touching the sunlight but instead it was a drawing and fell down) but I can't forget her scream of agony whilst falling down, killing her.
    - Ruruka's Death ( I saw the picture of her dead and it made me swallow my own vomit) and it looks like she got cut, stabbed, shot at, punched at, and severed made me realize how sadistic Junko was in Despair.

      honestly, her final words are probably what i'd consider the most disturbing moment at least in the anime.
      with most anime, japanese media and honestly media in general, the deaths of important characters are dealt in either one of two very specific ways, they either die instantly and never get to a conclusion on their character arcs, or die very slowly but in peace, attaining the optimal resolutions through their final words. (or they just haven't really died and shrug it off lol)
      the minutes that dr3 chiaki survived past her execution only served to finally break her and drive her into despair. it was almost like the spears intentionally hit her where she'd suffer the slowest possible death so she'd get that last... conversation... confession... more like *breakdown* with Izuru. Realizing that Hajime was indeed the one there might have been a bit of hope but as we all know, the seed of hope only leads to deeper despair.
      it truly would have spared her if she was already dead by then.
      i agree that the anime does have a *lot* of flaws but that scene i will defend to death as one of the most disturbing, emotional and horrifying scenes in the series.

    • @ClownHearts

      In my opinion Chiaki’s execution in Dr3 and Kaede’s execution in DrV3 are the worst moments in the anime/game.
      I don’t want to talk about Chiaki’s execution, because it makes me sick to explain her execution, and I don’t have words to explain why it’s one of the most brutal execution in the franchise.
      Kaede’s execution, makes me sick, but I still can have words to say why it’s one of the worst executions.
      1. Kaede hated getting yelled/hated on the stage, and what happens in her execution?
      The Monokuma’s watching saying “Boo!”, as like they hate her/hate her playing the song wrong.
      2. The song she is playing, is one of the first songs to play on the piano, which by the ultimate pianist, playing the song wrong, brings her too so much despair and sadness.
      3. She doesn’t know she was innocent, but there was a hint she was innocent, by what keys she was playing on.
      The song is played most on black keys, but since she was innocent “she plays” on white keys.
      4. She gets to breath when she touches the keys, but her execution was one of the longest.
      Because if you notice there is a clock behind her, and in the red part everything is moving faster.
      5. The Monokuma’s throw rocks at her, and we can notice it badly injured if you look at her death body (before it gets crushed).
      6. Everyone watched her die (of course expect Rantaro).
      7. Her execution is one of the worst ones, and is one of the most torture executions in Danganronpa V3, yet Tsumugi (the real blackend and the mastermind), just gets crushed by a giant rock, (which isn’t fair).
      (This are some things I found interesting about her execution, and all the credits to the points: 2, 3 and 4.
      The rest are things I noticed myself).

    Something that I see is very ignored when talking about Ultra Despair Girls and their dark moments, are the children with monokuma helmets. I mean, in the game they never say it or explore it explicitly, but it's pretty clear that those helmets are doing something to the children of Towa city. Brainwashing? Displayed delusions? Like i said, its never explored it (correct me if i'm wrong). But thinking about it, i doubt that ALL of the children of Towa city were having a f$cked up life as the Warriors of Hope, or even having a bad life at all, so its logical to think that some children were opposed to the idea of killing adults or their own parents. But the presence of the monokuma helmets changed that...
    By the end of the game, its implied that either the helmets were removed or that the children stopped their killer behavior. So in conclusion, and especially with regard to those children opposed to the killing, i want to make two questions:
    If they were aware all the time, how did they felt when they witnessed the death of their parents and hundred of other adults?
    If they weren't aware and woke up the moment the helmets stopped working (removed or deactivated), how did they react when they were told that their parents were killed by their own hands?

She died of an illness, most likely that one illness that I actually can't remember the name of. Was there a name? Anyway, after that, theory time, he did a ritual. A ritual where you can get a soul inside of you. Well, a fake soul. A split personality... Again... Korekiyo's sister probably never cared for Korekiyo, probably just used him as her own little play toy. He died knowing that the one person he ever loved, never loved him back. He also went on a kill spree, of only girls, to send friends to his sister. He was so close to hitting his own goal. 100 friends. Wait... Tsumugi what do you wanna say? Huh? Ok. Wait what? But what happened to Gonta did disturb me. Like the way you have to keep pushing forward, as he cries and insists he didn't do it. The entire concept of wiping your memory by accident and then basically being forced to face consequences you don't remember.
    Probably the most disturbing thing is Kokichi in that case. Like I think he crossed a line in this case which just made me not care about him. Idc if he feels sad about it, like he can't even be honest about feeling bad so why should I care he does?

While Nagito's death was incredibly gruesome, it was also a bit over the top (fitting of his character.) Kirumi's was just insanely cruel- using her will to escape, her desperation and her dedication just to throw it all away at the end was literally torture. Just thinking about how much pain she must've been while climbing the spiked rope, the saws tearing at her legs and arms and see her going towards the illusion of an exit and then tearing it away was the true meaning of despair- how quickly her hope turned into despair was so hard to watch. This tops everything in the series, in my opinion.

    Another thing to add to Mechamaru's death:
    After Mikan's execution, all the students head over to the island and start shouting for Nekomaru. He comes out and is revealed to now be a robot. Kazuichi, wanting to seem cool in front of Sonia, and also thinks that Mechamaru is just joking around while wearing a mask tries to pull his head off. Mechamaru immediately starts shouting about how Kazuichi should stop pulling on his head because it started to hurt, hence meaning that despite being a robot, Mechamaru was still able to feel pain.
    So, if Mechamaru was still able to feel an immense amount of pain when his head was getting pulled, how much pain could he have felt when he got decapitated? People disregard his death as something mild since he became a robot but in turn they're also disregarding the fact that Mechamaru got decapitated and still felt pain. His death was VERY brutal to say the least.

Kodaka (or at least I think it was a direct statement from him) said that they were going to further elaborate on taka's backstory, but didn't because it was supposedly "getting too dark". What were they thinking of that was too dark by Danganronpa's standards? We likely won't ever have a clear answer, and I think it's super disturbing because of how open ended this is in ways that you can interpret it.

    - Team Danganronpa : It’s kinda unclear as to what happened to the previous games within danganronpa. Since it was confirmed to have reached 53. Maybe Ruruka did that to herself because as you see when makoto is used as an example, it uses people from your past to guilt you. It would be like makotos situation x 10. Remember makoto only knew the people who died in the killing game for at least a few weeks without their memories. Ruruka knew Sonosuke and Seiko for almost her whole life. They were the people she cared about the most so the illusions the video gave her probably made her hate herself, enough to even cause that amount of harm before fully killing herself. Morbidly, I’m just glad she died before they found out they were underwater, imagine how much she would’ve suffered if she realised she killed her boyfriend for no reason, because nobody would’ve escaped anyway.

Nagito was a character I knew had to die but I didn’t think it would be so brutal. And it’s even more disturbing knowing he did it to himself and was capable of doing that. It makes you wonder if he could do that kind of thing to someone else. Kaede surprised everyone I totally thought it was shuichi but it wasn’t. And then on top of that her execution was also so brutal and then there’s the fact the shuichi tried to reach out and grab her- it broke my heart and again really set the tone. • @Hydrazilla98
    @Hydrazilla98 4 роки тому +3

    Here's six I feel some overlook that is pretty disturbing. Spoilers and pretty dark stuff are gonna be down below. Now let's start:
    1) DR1's Bad Ending - This one I was thinking about quite often. While it's not actually canon, this ending just makes me uncomfortable, specifically with Toko. In which a portrait of her is held by Byakuya of all people. Apparently, there is a mange version of it and it does explain that Toko committed suicide when Aoi was carrying his child. This leads to something else I find a little unnerving and this is why Aoi is having a child with Byakuya? I feel like if they were in a relationship of some kind, Toko would've seen at least one slip up, but then the gears turned in my head, what if she was forced to do so in the game? As we know, the mange and game can be different, so what if the reasoning is completely altered in the game? There's no concrete evidence saying it could be different from the manga, but it's still disturbing to think that Toko committed suicide because of this.
    2) Maki's Orphanage - Maki pretty much puts herself in place of her friend to become an assassin so her orphanage will be donated to. However, during her free-time events, we learn the friend she took her place for was killed. Just imagine you sacrificed 90% of your life just so your friend doesn't have to go through intense trauma on both sides and taking the lives of others, but that friend ends up getting killed by a car accident. I do have a theory that the organization Maki trained in decided to have her friend killed just so Maki would 100% stay with them. You may not think so, but some cooperations will use underhanded, downright evil acts to get what they want, and killing Maki's friend may have been the final blow needed.
    3) The Ghosts of the 78th - In the DR3 anime, Makoto has a nightmare about the people that died in the first killing game he was in. The best way I could describe it is that Makoto has a severe case of survivor's guilt. Keep in mind, this is only one of many nightmares he has of what happened in his killing game. It really makes you wonder about the dark thoughts he has had daily in his life. This moment's more well talked about, but the fact he could suffer a lot from guilt is pretty disturbing if I had to be honest.
    4) Monokuma Kids - After the Another Episode, it's confirmed they were alive, but still under mind control. However, when DR3 Future Arc came out, Monaca only had the Monokumas serving her. So where did they go? I think it's highly possible that Monaca killed them with the Monokumas or the adults of Towa took revenge on them. I highly doubt they were rescued due to how many there had to have been. Not only this but Towa City itself was pretty deserted looking in the anime. This honestly disturbs me that it's not farfetched to think some if not all the Monokuma kids ended up dying.
    These last two could be upsetting, so if you want to, don't look at these two because I'm going full-on dark.
    5) DR1 Trial 6 Second Half - In the last trial of DR1, Junko states that people who did watch the killing game tried to help the class of 78 escape. As a result, however, it's said they were "expelled." This means that groups of people that wanted to free the class ended up getting killed by Junko. Not just that, but it could be that even police and military were also killed in the process. We also got to know the fate of Byakuya's family, in which Junko says they were wiped out. Those are only small bits, just imagine finding out the world is in ruins for two years and you were possibly one of the last human beings on Earth. On top of that, the people in the class you're in were close together, yet the memories are wiped and now more than half either got murdered or were executed. Even your families and friends outside of Hope's Peak could be dead for all you know. It's seriously haunting and scary that all of this information is being slammed onto you in such a short amount of time.
    6) Danganronpa V3's Ending - My last one and oh boy, this one I think is the darkest moment in Danganronpa history. People are divided on this ending and while it is understandable, I think this single moment where the survivors look up at the hole Kiibo made really made me think - was Tsumugi lying or not about it all being on television? To go into just how scary it is, I'll have to go over both sides of whether or not she really did lie. I'd like to disclaim this all in theory, but either way, both sides have dark implications, with or without my food for thought. Lastly, I won't be including the world ending side since I feel that one is highly unlikely to have happened. Alright, let's go.
    We'll go with the side of it's a lie first. This means everything about it being aired on television is not true. So what then? There is the possibility the 15 we see here were kidnapped outside of Tsumugi. The only thing that can back this up is the fact that we see Kaede with a helmet of some sort. This could've been the work of a flashback light, but I highly doubt it as they would have to have been blacked out first with their memories erased at least twice before getting up. This means V3 is all a simulation, which could make sense as it does appear that the outside looks like it might be digital code. It could also back up Kaede's memory of her being forced into a car and when we first see the cast in regular wardrobes. So with that said, what happens now that the survivors have beaten their captors? I'm betting it ends as it would in the DR3 anime, but instead of them all surviving, the three wake up only with everyone who died stays dead. It'd make sense considering that if Tsumugi was the captor, she'd have a lesser version of the Neo World Program from SDR2. Overall, the fact these 15 were kidnapped, put in a simulation, and more than 4/5s of them are dead. This one isn't too dark, but the next one, however...
    Now onto the side of Tsumugi telling the truth and it's all a television show. If I had to be honest, this is a lot darker. To start off, it's implied that the cast willingly volunteered for the show. Let me quickly go over the history of Danganronpa in V3's world - the first two killing games were on video game platform, Danganronpa 3 was an anime, and then it became a reality tv show. If we go by this, it gets more disturbing as we go on. A reality tv show is just as it is, a show in real life. There are some fixed parts, but for the most part, we see real people in real situations on television. With that said, Danganronpa can be seen as Survivor, but instead of the contestants being voted off the show and going home, they are *killed*. If we do the math, about 550 people have died from this show if the deaths are real. Doesn't sound bad, but when you think about it, this tv show is literally killing people and pretty much not getting in trouble with the government. These people that die also volunteered to enter this. Think about the families that probably didn't want this, the friends who think it's all just for the sake of shock is actually real. I think the people who volunteer are either lied to about the people the died or they just simply don't care about their own lives. Not only is that messed up, but it's also pretty freaking depressing. And like I said, the producers and company are getting away with it, getting away with killing young adults and they get money out of their demise. I'm willing to bet the people who work on Danganronpa are also affiliated with the government, who if are like in our society, can cover up pretty much anything.
    Overall, these are my six and I wouldn't be surprised if people got disturbed. Or this gets lost in the sea of comments lol. Thanks for looking at this comment this far.

    Unpopular opinion: Kaede's and Gonta's executions were unreasonably brutal. They were the kindest and most sweet people in the class and had very good reasons to kill. They absolutely didn't deserve to die like that. On the other hand, Kirumi at least reasonably died brutally as she was willing to sacrifice everyone in there, but Korekiyo who was the craziest killer by far and killed like 99 people got the leastest brutal execution. What.

      To be fair, being boiled alive is pretty brutal.

      @@nokeyjr312 Not as brutal as being impaled by a giant bug and being burnt alive after being stung by thousands of bees.

      @@strawberrysenpai6071 In comparison, yeah. Doesn't make it any less gruesome though. Plus the execution via boiling has historical significance to it, so that's why Korekiyo went out that way.
