I've been interested in veterinary medicine for nearly 20 years, and let me tell you, I'd much rather deal with the biggest canine ever than have to handle one more unsocialized Chihuahua.
I had a Great Dane/Mastiff cross, and he was 36" at the shoulder and 240 pounds. He could crush beef rib bones and eat them like pretzel sticks, but there wasn't a mean bone in his body. He crossed The Rainbow Bridge about a month ago, and I still miss him terribly.
@edwatts9890 I feel for you, especially as a veterinary technician and student, and owner of numerous pets. It hurts for a while, but just remember how fulfilling you made each other's lives and he'll always be with you.
I am excluding any zoo/habitat visits because I feel that's cheating. I have had face to face encounters with Alaskan Grizzly bears a few times in the wild. But surprisingly, that was absolutely nothing compared to, what I like to call, an Alpha moose. This big ol boy was on my portage trail and I noticed his presence when I went on the trail and there was a fallen log across the path on my first run. On my way back, the log was crushed in the middle, like someone had smashed it with a sludge hammer. On my second run, right near the fallen crushed log, I saw him. This moose was just......well, I have never been more humbled by anything in my life. This moose was indescribably huge. Forest gods are real, and this moose was proof.
maybe, its not confirmed its shortest estimate is shorter than titanos shortest but its longest is longer than titanos longest. We dont know their true length either of them could have been longer. Besides we decide animal size based on weight, and it was skinnier than titanoboa. It would have however, been far more of a threat as it was likely fully or mostly terrestrial where the fat titano was mostly water bound. Both amazing snakes really
@@BeAmazed Though you goofed up on the Patagotitan. The Dreadnoughtus which was discovered the same year as the Patagotian is the largest dinosaur to ever live.
As terrifying titanoboas are, they spend most of their time in the water. Pretty much like whales, their body mass alone wouldn't move on land. Their mass would crush their internal organs. It's impossible for a titanoboa to rear its head up, let alone their body mass crushing their internal organs.
I love rediscovering this channel❤❤ Haven't been over here for like a year. And I love that the videos have gotten so much better. And he is still my favorite narrator❤
Fun fact: Back when the Megalodon existed there was another big whale that was called the Livyatan. The Megalodon and Livyatan would sometimes fight each other so basically imagine two gigantic fish fighting each other.
So maybe in 10 million years when humans are extinct and our “cousins” are about 1 foot tall I wonder if they will have educational media that shows how giant humans were 😅
A snake bigger than titanoboa, the Vasuki Indicus, was discovered to have existed. Also purusaurus and deinosuchus were bigger than sarchosuchus, with purusaurus being the largest crocodilian ever. (Sorry for any spelling errors)
I remember hearing about the Arthropleura on a British programme called "Prehistoric Park" back in '06 and the fist time I saw it, that made my skin crawl. Let's just say I'm happy that an 8 foot giant millipede is extinct. Most were vegetarians but happily ate small insects on occasion despite the oxygen concentration levels.
great video! i love how you highlighted some of the most fascinating creatures in history. however, i can’t help but feel like the focus on size overshadows the unique adaptations and survival strategies of smaller animals. what do you all think?
Mind blowing to think about the sheer size and diversity of these giants! From the towering Argentinosaurus to the massive blue whale still gracing our oceans today nature truly knows no limits!
Patagotitan Size: Estimated to be around 122 feet (37 meters) long and weighing up to 77 tons. Time Period: Lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 100 million years ago. Facts: Patagotitan is another giant titanosaur, possibly even larger than Argentinosaurus, discovered in Patagonia, Argentina.
what a fascinating video! I really appreciate the effort that went into showcasing these incredible creatures. but honestly, I wonder if we might be romanticizing their size a bit too much. I mean, sure, they were massive, but isn’t it also important to highlight how their environments and ecosystems shaped them? just a thought!
Great video. However you misspelled Colombia. Columbia is the name of several cities while Colombia is the South American country referenced in your video.
Thanks! ♥ Bigger than a Bluewhale! :o I´m off to an another googling adventure :) BTW,That sound was just Ice scraping against the bottom of the sea.. I think you already did that some years ago
I don't have anything on these stories, but I do have a large breed germanshepherd who at 8 months old broke a cow femmer bone in half with one bite. Kinda freaked me out at first, but he has been the best dog a man could ask for. He broke through his pen smashing everything in sight to get to my daughter because she said ouch. He sleeps by her door but will come in and randomly check on me. If I don't put him in his pen at night he won't sleep because he's always making sure my daughter and I are safe. He also rips stainless steel like cardboard which is how he got his name, Steel.
i really enjoyed this video, it was super informative and visually stunning! however, i'm not sure if i totally agree with the idea that size equals success in the animal kingdom. after all, some of the smallest creatures have had a massive impact on their ecosystems. what do you all think?
You should really stop asking people to press like before the end. How would you feel watching a movie, and 5 minutes in you are asked by the producer to give it a good review? Or if a waiter asked for a tip when he brought you the appetizers? I know you are just following the trend here, but god damn its cheeky!
I dont know why but when he spoke of the sperm whale I was thinking the subject would be the leviathan but oh well we got another whale even less known so im happy about it
it was spelled slightly different than the biblical creature being Livyatan rather than leviathan (for anyone wanting to look it up because its an amazing extinct animal)

The moa (largest extinct nz bird) was taller, but the elephant bird was much stockier and heavier. The largest moa species was roughly 12 feet tall and 500 lbs, while the largest elephant bird species was roughly 10 feet tall and 1000 lbs.
@@andrewthompson6453 It is the largest by mass; length isn't enough. Besides, we can't accurately measure body mass from fossil records; we can only assume from bone structure.

True and it would make sense how it got so much bigger than their alive relatives since they didn’t evolve under the pressure of gravity like whales.
