    Absolutely loving your videos and will sign up to the Collective as soon as I have some money flowing again - health collapse put me out of work. However, I wanted to mention that for speakers of Australian English, transFERRED (yes, we spell it like that, too!) is completely normal - to the point that I never noticed that one, and I am really fussy and touchy about stress. I've lived and worked in several countries and done accent coaching for stage as well as just being a common (or garden) English teacher, and afaik only Australian English has this very strong difference in stress on that word, although possibly SAfrEng does it too. NZEng and BrEng do not.
    Michael, you are an inspiration in many, many ways, and an encouragement in even more.

      What a beautiful and wonderful comment to wake up to this morning - thank you so very much for this!! I'm thrilled that my content has been useful and that you connect with it. That's the highest compliment! I look forward to having you with us in the Collective and hope your health is recovering as smoothly as possible. And thank you for the insight into Australian English! I pick on that lyric because it's American writers for American characters, but your point is heard and well-taken!

    Very curious about the "more than THE moon" example. I know Sondheim is typically very picky about accenting the right words, I wonder why he made that choice?

    • @musicaltheatrewriterguy
      @musicaltheatrewriterguy  Рік тому

      I've often wondered about that as well. Maybe he wanted to prime our ears to that note as the melody moved up, but the mis-accent didn't bother him? Hard to say!
