- From the outset, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk makes no apologies for its inspiration. Its style, music and gameplay are all reminiscent of Jet Set Radio. You'll grind around locations, battle rival crew members and earn REP to take over the five boroughs of the world.
It can feel pretty easy, while its tagging and tricks feel overly simple. Its gameplay loop may also become repetitive despite its length. Thankfully, it establishes a presence with its story and intriguing level design while delivering fluid controls that are easy to pick up.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a venerable blast from the past, with a gorgeous art style and sharp soundtrack to match, and that's more than enough.
The fact that a beautiful homage made with passion and reverence for a classic game gets a 7, yet a buggy, overhyped mess of empty promises like Starfield pulls out a 10 really highlights where the priorities in game reviews are.

Just because people have passion and reverence doesn't automatically mean the game should get a higher score.
@@dford192 And just because a studio has clout doesn't mean they shouldn't get a lower one when their product reflects it.
@@FreakinSweet1987 going on what I've seen "clout" isn't the reason why writers have been giving it anywhere from a 7 to a 10. People are allowed to have different opinions without being guilty of some completely unfounded company-based conspiracy theory.
This has been my favorite game to come out this year. It just put a smile on my face and kept it there. As a fan of the JSR series this more than delivered on a 20 year wait. Ive already put more hours into this than BG3. Getting combos and enjoying the music has got me vibing.
And if you didn’t know Sega is rebooting JSR
The only problem I have with it is that it don’t have custom sprays or skins you can make but who knows it may change with an update regardless it’s a good game to have I missed out on Jet Set Radio however this is a game I would treasure for the rest of my life❤
I really miss Jet Set Radio Future. I wanna see a remake so bad, or at the very least i want xbox to make it available on the microsoft store. That was easily top 10 games of all time for me. I played it at least once a year, every year, from the time it came out until the xbox one hit shelves and suddenly it wouldn't work anymore.
This game plays better than Jet Set. This a perfect omaj to the game. But based on his gameplay the reviewer isn't that good at it.
@@artdog0100 I'd still just rather have Jet Set back. Like i said, top 10 of all time. That's saying something considering i've been gaming for over 20 years across multiple consoles and the pc.

@clericofchaos1 but neither will the jet set radio sequel,it'll have some characters re occurring but,it'll be a new game 😅🤣
This game is legendary. I hope they make a sequel. From the soundtrack to the very creative and deep level design. These guys created something better than JSRF by a long shot.
Looks like a cross between jetset and roller drome which sounds like a beautiful combination

That's definitely too low a grade. I figured they couldn't get the rights to jsr and went this route. I love this game.

There is no difference what so ever I rekon it will be the same as the ps4 version I got the ps5 version and the graphics are just so awful 😂 it literally looks like ps2 graphics

The big 3 basically the emperors from one piece. I love that setup, makes it seem like its a real war against anyone, not just only with the player,

Because the media is biased against Xbox. Everyone knows it. The media even knows it, they don't even try to hide it anymore.

I’m kinda mad they listed the ps4 version and buried the ps5 version on the store cuz I could never find it so I assumed you could js also use the ps4 version to play on 5 cuz I doubt there’s a difference but still kinda salty about, should have waited my fault ig :/
It's not your fault. Made a similar mistake - I bought the game from my wishlist but the version you could wishlist was the PS4 version. Was really annoyed when I realised. I cancelled the download in less than 5 seconds and waited until after the weekend so I could call Sony and (hopefully) get a refund.
It didn't detect the download so I got away with it but Sony's policies on refunds are so bad. Team Reptile were cheeky not making this cross buy.
*Might wait for a sale after all that hassle.* Cross buy is pretty much standard.

So after playing this game for like a month, I went back and played some of the Tony Hawk remake and it made this game seem like a Baby Skater Simulator haha
i mean yeah tony hawk is way harder than this game, doesn’t mean it’s any less fun though

They copied off of so many locations in the game. But the funniest part is that the game looks graphically less impressive than JSRF that came out in 2002. Imagine that? Sounds like a Spiritual failure than sucessor to me.

Wait, you don't tag the enemy's back anymore?
You can, it’s just hard to pull off. When knock an enemy down you get like half a second for the input. Still feels rewarding tho
If you attack an enemy and then immediately jump it launch enemies into the air and you can tag them mid air.
