The team behind the super fun Lethal League makes a successor to Jet Set Radio. Hell yeah! When I first heard this years ago, I was super excited.
I didn't realize this was the same team.
Definitely makes me even more excited to try this.
I'm not sure how I missed that it was the same team, Lethal League already looks like a tribute to Jet Set Radio.
@@tonybarnes2920 Incorrect. The game is made by Team Reptile, zero affiliation with JSR or SEGA.
As a 90's kid, then growing up in the early 2000's I owned Jet Set Radio on the Dreamcast and JSRF on the original Xbox. These were two of my favorite games and bring back so many good memories. I'm so happy to see a game like this come out for us old fans and whole new generation to experience 🎧
@@kenzgetbusy we have been begging them for years I’m hoping this is the push they needed to make a new jsr
@@kenzgetbusy I truly hope Bomb Rush become's a great incentive for Sega to finally do a third JSR game
@@iansanchez7489 as much as we want it i don’t think it will happen, sega as a company has lowkey fell off imo
Didn’t even think about the ability to just walk around. That’s an awesome addition
Finally, the Jet Set Radio/Future successor we deserved!
@@Max_Dillinno we def deserved it, been way to long since Future.
Sega shouldn't abandon their other IP's
@@GoofyPoptart they weren't selling too well in japan. Sega of America and Sega of Japan didn't like each other
JSRF was half of the pack-in game that came with my original Xbox, my first home console. I have been in love with it ever since and chomping at the bit for this game. Sounds like Team Reptile stuck the landing, and I can’t wait to get my grubby lil hands on it
It’s still hard to believe it was a pack in game. I got my Xbox late and I had it separately
Yep, my first home console too. JSRF and Sega GT 2002 on one disk. So much nostalgia
@@Wilaeus yep i had the same double disk with mine. JSRF was one of my favorite games as a kid
I’m absolutely in love with the game but I would def appreciate some more tricks in an update… at the very least I feel the other characters should have unique tricks
I also don’t get why you can launch enemies like you can but you can’t hit them in the air. Like I get you can do the spray paint thing but imagine if you could do air combos and THEN spray paint. Literally all it would take is for them to allow you to hit them in the air. They just become invulnerable for no reason
@@dude86 combat isn't really important in this game, don't get me wrong for what it is, it's really fun. But combat really isn't the focus of the game. I agree though, I hope for updates to the tricking system.
try taping the boost button at the same time you do a trick for a more dynamic pose and a higher trick score
Yeah that was one of the small issues I had with the game, there should be more tricks per button, with different lengths and scores depending on the button you press. They get real samey very fast.
@@swagchees4595 yeah been there done that, disappointed that there was only one boost trick per stance
They did it boys. They've finally shown us the concept the concept of love
I hope it gets a physical release through Modus or Merge Games so it can be on store shelves in Australia.
The game I was most excited for this year tbh
You are so on point! I know some other good games that's coming like Sonic Superstars,Super Mario Wonder, but this was my absolute most anticipated and favorite one of them all!
JSRF is my favorite game of all time. No other game captured my imagination like going into a new area and seeing a rival skater dancing in the distance
They actually got 2mello on the soundtrack!? Ohhh this is gonna be godlike
The fact that it looks like a 360 game makes me happy. It's like the game we never got in the 00s.
JSR was one of the first games I ever played, I've been waiting for Bomb Rush on Steam for years. Even with these simplistic textures and polygons, it still looks pretty nostalgic. I must buy it! The amount of tricks you can perform with the new mechanics looks so dope.
For me, the 'retro visuals' mean this game is a "wait for a sale" one. The graphics style was passable when it was new - but why recreate it now? To me it seems like this game doesn't want to innovate, which is what _new_ games SHOULD do!
@@DisgruntledDoomer I disagree. We still have people who play the old Donkey Kong or the "same" Fifa every year. Games are made to entertain, not to develop a new tech. Of course it's cool if a game brings something new, but it's not a requirement. Why recreate? Because you gotta sell what people want to buy.
@@SlyI42 I don't know about FIFA, but at least the Donkey Kong games have always brought new, better visuals with them. Definitely a step up from the oldskool Donkey Kong Country times.
@@DisgruntledDoomer what an ignorant take, you dont get it at all
i think youre better off not buying it if thats what youre thinking when you see it
@@sangan3202 What is there to "get"? Why live in the past, stuck in some sort of "nostalgia" spell, instead of innovating and improving?
Pleasant surprise to hear Macca on the audio, great work!
I love how fully-realized this game is. Team Reptile really put a lot of heart & soul in this project.💯💯⭐✨
I'm just super happy that Jet Set Radio is being acknowledged in 2023. :) Along with my other favorite underrated series, Twisted Metal.
People aren’t going to Get Enuf of this game for a good while, I can tell. It’s a real love letter to a forgotten set of games that became a classic.
Now let’s get out there, get funky, and paint the town in our colors: all of them!
After listening to 2Mellos "Memories from Tokyoto" back in 2021 I absolutely knew it was going to be used in this game. That album is too perfect not to be. I even have the vinyl of it and will pick up one of the games soundtrack when it comes out!
Omg is it the whole album?? You're comment just pushed me over the fence. Instant purchase!
I fell in love the second I heard the main menu theme the whole soundtrack has my head bopping
Bought it an hour and a half ago, LOVING IT!
I've been interested of this futuristic skating action-adventure game Bomb Rush Cyberfunk when I heared this first time, that Cyberfunk looks awesome and I wan't to buy and play this game with my ps4, maybe I'll stream this too. 🔥🔥
The mods on PC are gonna go crazy, but I will definitely support dlc.
Jsrf still needs to be released on modern hardware.
Looks like a game toonami would promote on a Saturday night in the mid 2000’s
Great video man.. crazy how just yesterday, I got JSRF up and running on Xemu and now I see this!!
Thanks for the review! I'm excited to grab a copy knowing that a fellow Jet Set Radio fan enjoyed it.
To this day, I still put on the OST for jet grind radio.
Can't wait to give this a try!
why the ppl expect that this game needs to cover all the things that have JSR. is a new game bro with the "concept" but no neccesarily the same game. maybe if team reptile notice a nice reception of the public, they bring up more dlc with differents bonuses and option to the game but right now this game is 10/10 made by a humble game studio
this game looks amazing! The beauty of the old JSR games is the actual gameplay , THE MUSIC ,and the characters and the Aesthetic of both the characters and the city environments. I CANT WAIT TO PLAY THIS GAME
Alright I’m going definitely play this ❤ I loved the original game on the DreamCast so Happy for this new version I hope there will be more in the series to come!
Really hope this lives up to the hype when I try it. Loved jet set radio. I hope they make another
Kind of the last game I really wanted to own. Seems so true to its style aesthetic.
Great review as always Mac Man
This is my most anticipated game of the year hope I love it. I also love 2Mello and Hideki Nagnuma so this will be a real treat
im loving this game so far, and the soundtrack is HEAT!
I’ve been waiting for someone to talk about this game!
@@HRIgnomious Review copies are typically distributed sometime before release. If the publisher chooses to do so. It's odd how little press this game is getting considering how great it is.
This is lit, dare I say the early ‘00s are back!
Team Reptile sure UNDERSTANDS! UNDERSTANDS! UNDERSTANDS! UNDERSTANDS! UNDERSTANDS! UNDERSTANDS the Concept of Love!
Great review! I completed it last name ght and am very happy with it. Kick-a$$ soundtrack, good visuals, decent characters and really nice maps! The OG JSR games are some of my favourite ever, and this is a great tribute to them ❤️
Glad to finally be playing this on the channel. it feels like we were waiting forever!
In a world where Nintendo patents physics interactions from Tears of the Kingdom, and WB patented the Nemesis System, we have "Someone else just literally makes a new installment for JSR and nobody complains".
Weird times.
Sega caught slipping. Should've patented every JSR mechanic. Someone else is gonna capitalize on their abandonment of the IP.
So happy to see that we now have a spiritual successor to the Jet Set Radio games and that it's good!
I'm still mad a friend stole my copy Jet Set Radio Future back in 2006...
The review/verdict section of this video sums it up perfectly and is my exact thoughts.
Very well said!
Maccaaaaaaaa!
Congrats Man!
Never even heard of this game but after this review, I'm grabbing it on Steam Deck!
Great review!
I really like Bomb rush cyber funk, however the only issue i have is how hard sometimes it is to control the character when they are on the skate and how theres not a button to automatically look foward
Wohooooo! So excited for this game thanks for the awesome review
I had a lot of fun with BRC's combat, but I discovered early on you could do attack > jump > graffiti to swiftly defeat enemies 2 - 4 at at time. Made me feel like a graffiti samurai lmao. Dealing with the Rokkaku Police was a painful slog in JSRF. Overall, I think BRC's biggest weak point is failing to explain these little QOL (and also some exploration related) features.
The only thing that looks concerning is that the environment seems somewhat empty. I loved skating through crowds on JSRF and hearing all the funny sounds they made lol.
Can’t wait to play this
Nostalgia overload. Looks fantastic.
This will definitely go down as a legendary game for years to come. One for the people.
The day has finally come, and I'm not even home to play it. I'm glad the game turned out to be good, I knew it would be, but there was an itching at the back of my mind to be cautious. Thankfully, that fear was misplaced.
This game looks great! Hover: Revolt of Gamers was another great Jet Set kind of game that's worth checking out
SO SO SO SO glad that it lived up to expectations! Excited !
Kubuswoningen. This game is a must buy. ❤️
So happy that it's good, playing JSR in the old Dreamcast was special, couldn't play Future since I've never owned an OG xbox so this is the sequel I've waited 20 years to try
Game is currently download as I type this. Been DYING for a JSR for a long time
Can’t wait to play the game
good to know this lives up to its inspiration! suppose I'm not surprised about the combat thing though, I know fighting the cops in JSR was a pain in the ass at times. but everything else about this game seems to be legit! will definitely be picking it up ASAP.
Can't wait for the following mods added to bomb rush cyberfunk:
JSR mods
JSRF mods
Sonic Rush mods
Air GEAR mods
Lethal League mods
TMNT Mutants mayhem mods
So hyped to play this!
2:09 DAYYYUUMM They even brought back the mummies hahaha I can't wait to pick this game up! I only played JSRF, not JSR but I definitely see the spirit and resemblance in everything and I'm here for it!
I'm very happy you played this on something other than a Switch (X86 based). If I buy this, and I might, it's going to be on our Series X or PS5. Doing it that way means I can stream it to our Steam Deck when I am on the go. I'll take the bigger screen, more customization, and better resolution with sticks far, far better than the Switches. Not to mention having full 4k@60FPS at least (it better have this) with the Series X and PS5.
Addendum- You talked about the game running on your laptop, which is cool....However, I'm not sure how that really makes it better for a Switch. You said you had an I7 and 8GB of RAM? That's well beyond what a Switch has access to even a first generation I5 would run circles around the Switch. I believe all one needs to emulate a Switch on PC is an Intel Pentium 2 2.00GHz CPU and an Nvidia GeForce 510.
So happy this game finally came out. Its so fun!!!
Looking forward to it.
This is the GREATEST YEAR OF GAMING EVER!!! I’m so glad this turned out well
What was the name of the mmo that was like this a game where you skate around tagging places. It was like 3 or 2 years ago i think i saw videos of it.
This game came out on GoG too so now it might buy it soon :)
Bought this game two times. On the switch and on GOG on the pc. This game is godly!
I love that Crazy-lookin' Taxi!
Cant wait to play this on the nintondo swatch
Jsrf my all time favorite game. Can’t wait to put some hours in on this.
Nice review When I saw the first trailer I was sure it will rock. you just confirmed that thanks for this amazing review, BUY IT NOW!
LOVE IT!
Already bought a copy for myself on pc and for my daughter on switch. Loving it so far.
Got it on switch. Love it
Oh man, I'm on the verge of buying my first new console since the Xbox and finding this video randomly is getting me pumped.
Yes...buying a new console in 2023, but most excited about Spyro, Crash, Crash Team Racing, and now this. Let's go!
I’m loving this game! I’m a huge fan of Jet Grind Radio and JSRfuture and this is a perfect sequel. Some of the maps mirror the old ones. This game is a time warp back to early 2000’s.
Speaking from experience. The Switch Version runs great. HOWEVER, It could not stop glitching through the 1st DJ Cyber exposition dump cut scene when you finish doing Bea's trials at Homebase. The game autosaved me at the cutscene but, I had to reset it several times before it would playthrough completely. It hasn't happened again. I also have a recording of my Twitch stream to prove it. Has anyone else had this issue on or off Switch?
how do you get any other vehicles like the bike
Insanely good game
As a Jsr fan. I’m getting this gold gem
Looks like im gonna buy this then😊
I can't believe it's been over 2 decades and I'm just extremely excited for this game! This will be my early birthday present treat for myself! Can't wait for the release on Xbox Series X! ✨👊😎✨
4:20 disclaimer: not entirely true, there are some objects you can interact with depending on your ride. Skateboards can ride on fire hydrants while spamming tricks to make them come up out of the ground to let you get to places you normally couldn't. There are doors scattered through the game that only open if you have a bike equipped, and there are some areas where theres glass on the floor that only a skateboard or skates can break. Also worth mentioning that you can do a high jump if you do a trick while standing on your feet and then jump. The game doesn't really tell you any of this but it is important for some collectibles and graffiti spots.
For some weird reason I feel like there should be a collaboration between Jet Set Radio and Fooly Cooly (FLCL) in Bomb Rush CyberFunk. It has that vibe.
So the music thing, Jet set radio future had that, in each zone it would be about 5-6 songs that would be on repeat out of the 30ish songs total. While i get it listening to the same song over and over is a a bit too much we basically did this when play Tony hawk resetting till we got our favorite song.
Awesomeness video 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Jet set radio is a classic game I remember playing that game on my sega dreamcast
bought this game immediately, I cannot wait to play this
The only thing this game really needs is more fun things like going into shops to customize, some fun lil mini games, and NPC interaction. Lastly, definitely more styles of tricks. Other than that, I absolutely love this game ❤
I got jumpscared when I heard Macca, holy crap.
I'm excited
2mello on the soundtrack and you know its gonna be a banger
ah yes, my favourite console, the nintendo Swatch! lol got to love when descriptions have mistakes lol
Bought this on the Switch; this morning and it is awesome. I can also confirm that there is a 60fps options and it tuns pretty solid most of the time; with no visual downgrade. Option is called "Unleash the Beast"
O great now I know that I can push the switch limits
It however runs completely flawlessly on Steam Deck.
